Great lunch on a Sunday. We were apprehensive as previous concerns regarding the good hygiene but was recommended by a friend. The service was very good and attentive. Considerate as my father in law was in a wheelchair and we had our table in the extended part. The food was excellent and great portions. I would return again. Keep it up.

Love the fact they say Non Halal food. I don't eat halal, and frankly, it's an insult from other restaurants who do sell halal. Always love the food. The sizzler is just perfect. Recommend the place to everyone

This place feels a little confused about what it's trying to be. The staff didn't know what they were doing and were having loud disagreements in another language while I was waiting for my drinks order. Don't they know that I'm a paying guest and they're supposed to be giving me an experience? They really need to work on their customer service. The person who brought our food out picked up my phone from the table and moved it. Weird! If you want returning customers you really need to make improvements. Hire a decent manager.

We had been passing Breakspear Arms while going to and from Ruislip many times - and going there was a spontaneous decision. After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor we were wary- to the extent only one of us went in there to check it out initially :-) Verdict - one of the best North Indian we had in a long time. The pub side - good ambience, and the restaurant was clean and bright - sign of flies or filth anywhere. The service was helpful, and a sikh gentleman who served us gave us great advise on what to order. Additional bonus : all NON HALAL - wish more restaurants did that! The food - much better than most Indian we’ve had anywhere else in and around London at a similar price point. We had starters - papdi chat, chilli chicken. Mains - chicken vindaloo, butter chicken and saag paneer. With garlic naans. The butter chicken tasted just like what we had in India, the saag paneer was super authentic. We’ll go back to make sure it’s not a one trick pony!

Very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere as soon as you enter the premises. We ordered a mixed grill and masala chips. Was one of the best mixed grills I've ever had. Was very happy with the food, service and price. The best part of it all - the food is non halal. I must commend the owners for serving only non halal as not every one eats halal and unfortunately it's getting harder and harder to find non halal food places. Thank you to the owners.

Avoid like a rash. 1. Poor service 2. Rude owner and staff 3. Dogs roaming around 4. Poor hygiene 5. Add service charge 6. Add extra items onto your bill (which is a common trait of this place) and they have a rep for this!!The food use to be good. As did this place in general (apart from item 6)! But wow how bad it’s got is shocking.

This place is clearly living on past reputation, my meal yesterday was one of the worst grills I've ever experienced in London.Negatives:- sat down outside, and after 20 mins the staff asked everyone sitting outside to come inside because it'd be too much to serve them- ridiculous fly infestation both outside and INSIDE- beers took ages to be served, after asking we were told "they are changing the barrel" - blatant lie when we could see 3 morettis on the bar waiting to be served, the beer was not fresh and they definitely had not changed any barrel- the food was served at a suspiciously quickly pace where everything was lukewarm, a grill is supposed to be sizzling, not served after 20 minutes of being cooked. Particularly, the chicken tikka tasted as if it was boiled and then chucked on a grill to give it some sort of sear- one of the naans had arrived with some mysterious masala on it- Toilets were disgusting, and worst of all the owners dog was behind the bar around the area where food was being served - just so unhygienic- pub is dark, gloomy and we were not the only people moaning about the service.- prices are ridiculous, they need to look at other grill places and see how competitive they are. Will not be going up, the staff seemed so uninterested and once did not ask how the meal went.

This review is based solely on the cleanliness of the place as we didn’t even eat here as it was disgusting. We attended to organise a wake for a family member as the restaurant has a function room and is down the road from the Breakspear Crematorium. Whilst parking up we saw them welcoming in a dog from the car park - first red flag. The place was only open for deliveries due to the second lockdown. When we walked in, my mother, Aunty and I were jumped on by an excitable husky puppy. A member of staff, Mr Singh, welcomed us and apologised for the dog. When we walked round into the main bar area we saw 3-4 dog toys strewn on the floor. Mr Singh started to go through the ‘wake menu’ which was mainly English foods, we requested Indian food. Before he could bring the menu, we noticed a DOG TURD on the floor by one of the tables. We said to leave it. On our way out, Mr Singh told the owner or chef named ‘Raj’ who was just sat watching a film- he didn’t seem bothered or apologetic. Mr Singh at least looked embarrassed. This was such a shame as it could have been a great venue. If the main area is like that, then what on earth is the kitchen like? There was also no social distancing or staff wearing masks. Avoid like Covid.

I have had takeaways from the Breakspear Arms for years (plus occasionally dined in) but have never got round to doing a review. I have just noticed the number of poor reviews on TripAdvisor and am astonished! I have always found the food to be impeccable - amongst the best in the area. My Indian mum had very choosy taste when it came to Indian food and she was a big fan. Good enough for her is good enough for me. As to the staff, I have always found them courteous and efficient. Also, if I can, I like to avoid eating halal meat and the food here is non halal. As to those negative reviews, I tend to disregard any left by people with only one or two reviews. I suggest you do the same and give the Breakspear Arms a visit.

As a Punjabi I used to live the food at this place. It was a great relief to have a proper pub serving tasty punjabi food. However, the pub seems to have gone backwards where my last two experiences were terrible. The food, especially the main courses were disgusting and tasteless, butter chicken used to be great but tasted as if the cream used in it had split. All this against a backdrop of a pub which is not maintained well, seems run down, cleanliness is poor throughout something which has attracted flies all over the place. The management and waiting staff seem out of control, Shouting at each other and stressed out. I’m afraid what was my favourite eating out place is now one of the worst.

30 of us turned up without booking on a Friday afternoon after a memorial service at the crematorium. We had drinks etc, and then we all decided we would stay to eat. All i can say is that the service was second to none. The Indian food was superb, even the children enjoyed the Tandoori chicken, and chicken tikka masala. On our table of 10 we had 9 main dishes, 4 side dishes various nan breads and enough rice dishes to go around and 4 huge jugs of Pepsi. The total bill came to less than £200 including service, very reasonable nowadays. We will definitely return, this was my first visit.

Breakspear Arms has retained its charm of being an english pub serving good beer and good pub food. However i am always there for the brilliant Indian cuisine they have. Like most of us, I am always on the hunt for good authentic indian food and this place never disappoints. There a number of restaurants in the area however for Punjabi / North Indian food I always head back to Breakspears Arms. Excellent butter chicken (I have been on a mission to find it) and fish starters. The food is a bit pricey as compared to other similar restaurants but the food it worth it. Me and the family like it here. I feel like the quality of the food is high. What also makes it excellent for us is that it serves Indian and English food. With the kids menu aswell all bases are covered. There is one waiter in particular, an older gentleman, who is a great character and asset to this place. His recommendations are spot on if you are struggling to decide. He is so enthusiastic about the food which is always great to hear. The only items I thought (prior to sampling them) that may be expensive were some of the indian starters, but to be fair the quality of them and the portion sizes do justify the price asked. Top marks!

Went in for lunch as the Old Orchard was full. When we saw the prices we were expecting curry house style food (£10 for a chicken tikka masala not including the rice) but what we got tasted more like it was from the takeaway aisle in Tesco. The garlic naan we ordered was amazing though so maybe we just got unlucky with our choices (my husband had a madras). The 12% service charge that they added to our bill was also not reflected in what we experienced. Didn’t really get any warmth from our server and when we arrived we were not greeted by anyone, we just sat ourselves down and didn’t realise that there even was table service until my husband tried to order food at the bar.

I used to come here for a Sunday roast. The food was always good quality, if rather expensive (£15 for roast plus compulsory service charge), but the serve-yourself carvery is always luke warm and the plates stone cold. I thought I'd give them another go on the spur of the moment. They weren't very busy, and we sat outside in the sunshine. I ordered drinks at the bar, which the barman seemed to make up the price in his head (over £26 for 3 diet cokes, 2 small house wines and a pint of Cobra), and asked if we ordered at the bar. I was asked where we were sitting and was told a waiter would come and take our order. After 20 minutes and no sign of a waiter, I went back to the bar and was told that we had to order at the bar, as a party was arriving. The party was relatively small and the place was still only a quarter full, but we all felt we weren't really wanted there and left. Not before I noticed the cold plates on the side and luke warm food though! I've had a couple of average curries here as well, but all things considered, I won't return under the current ownership.

The Breakspear were super friendly and helpful in the booking process for a 21st birthday party event. Compared to some other venues, on visiting and explaining our needs they took the time to sit with us and go through our needs. Above this, they have a great party menu to choose from, few competitors provide the variety and choice they offer and above all, quantity is nothing with quality - which is certainly the case here. Food is excellent, all guests were happy and very full! The service during the event was excellent, they re-filled food quickly, offered a great mini bar and allowed us all to really enjoy our party. The event room itself is clean, has a speaker to play your own music and they allow you to decorate as you wish. Would highly recommend as a place to eat and to host a private party.

We have been to this establishment twice in the pub area. Each time we have found the atmosphere to be excellent alongside the friendly staff. Food is amazing and the variety caters for everyone. I have tried meat and vegetarian dishes all of which are flavoursome and filling. I particularly have enjoyed the chilli paneer, paneer masala and the kebabs. However there is one huge downside which does put me and friends off from going here again. The discretionary 12% charge on top of your bill. I totally understand that this charge should be applied in the restaurant but in the pub this should not be the case. A pub bar atmosphere is chilled and therefore is informal. I would rather go to the bar and give my order rather than be waited on my table if the charge was not to be added. I have spoken to a few people and they all agree this charge is unnecessary for a pub scene. The idea of saying we are not paying the charge in the bar area is uncomfortable as all staff are so friendly. By all means add the charge to the restaurant but not the bar area. Something that needs to be considered

Eat here regularly. Its another level above another level. Not cheap, but well worth it. Portions are large so sharing is best.

We have eaten at The Breakspear Arms several times over the years and never had a bad meal. A couple of months ago they laid on a buffet at a very reasonable price for our guests after a family funeral at the nearby crematorium. When we arrived an area was partitioned off with a wonderful and extensive array of hot and cold food, both English and Indian, plus tea, coffee and soft drinks. Their staff were on hand to help serve the food if requested, clear the tables and they provided sympathetic and helpful support for what was, inevitably, a sad occasion. Several guests who had driven from the north of England commented on how refreshed they felt as they left for their long return journeys; I cannot praise this place highly enough.

Beer and curry go together like wine and cheese. Usually though a pub isn’t always the best place to get an authentic curry, but I think this pub is a genuine exception. The Indian food is at the very top end of good Indian restaurant scale, the fact that it is a pub is just a bonus as you can also catch a footie match if you fancy. The perfect accompaniment to beer and Football was a mixed meat platter. The two lamb kebabs were deliciously juicy and even a little spicy. The lamb chops were a little tough but the sauce they were smothered in was very tasty. The fish, prawn and chicken tikka also on the dish didn’t disappoint, and as the serving was so big, I’m surprised we found room for the mains. But we did. The chicken dish was juicy and the sauce tasty. For the fish curry we went for the spiciest option and it didn’t disappoint. Finally the okra dish was also on par with the others and along with the delicious and crispy garlic naan bread it was a good meal. So if you’re a fan of curry and beer, you’ve found the right place.

Genuinely enjoyed the delicious food on offer here - have visited a number of times and enjoyed both western and eastern dishes. The tandoori mixed grill is wonderful. Wide variety of whiskey too. The venue has quickly become a regular suggestion for family dinner/ footy watching. Very nice atmosphere and decor with a lovely beer garden for summer and a delightful dining area to the rear of the main Pub/ Sports bar. Highly recommended

I would like to thank every member of staff at the Breakspear Arms for their kindness, attention to detail & wonderful service when we attended for a family wake in September. Nothing was too much trouble, and the food was excellent ... thank You everyone so much for helping to make a very sad day just that little more bearable without the worry of arranging the wake following a difficult time.

When 25% of your reviews on Trip Advisor are Terrible, there must be a problem. Yes that’s right I was charged £7.95 for a Bombay Aloo, the most expensive Bombay Aloo I've ever had, most other places £3.95. It did say main dish but then came no bigger that a side dish compared to other Indian restaurants, and was bland. Also 4 drinks £20 which is about the same as other Indian restaurants I guess. Not impressed, some dishes seemed adequately priced, just over priced by a mile on certain other dishes.

Thank you to Raj and all the staff at Breakspear Arms for making my husband's 40th Birthday lunch a huge success! We have visited Breakspear Arms several times but this was the 1st time for booking a party. Raj made sure all my guests were well taken care of, the hot food was delicious as always and everyone had a great time. We will definitely be returning again very shortly. Highly recommend booking for parties and events.

Thankyou so much to all the staff at Brakespears last night for making my daughters surprise birthday a lovely event. We had several tables set aside in the bar area and the staff were attentive and very helpful. We had a number of exuberant small people in our party who decided chips were their food of choice and not the delicious buffet we adults had, the staff took all their orders in their stride. There was no issue with setting up the birthday cake in the general concourse of the bar or taking a constant steam of orders from our party of 30 odd people. Well done guys. You never disappoint. Everyone in our group who travelled from as far as Essex, Midlands and Hampshire and Yorkshire said the food was absolutely amazing!!

We happened to pass this restaurant/bar and went in on a September rainy day for lunch. We went as a family, with our 10 year old daughter. They serve Indian and English cuisine. Me and my partner had the Indian which was so tasty and our daughter had the English menu, all day breakfast which was huge for her.

Beautiful food. Rude and incompetent staff. When I asked the waiter if I can order a drink he turned to me and said ‘ we are very understaffed this isn’t all about you I will come to you when I can but at the moment no you cant’. This then lead to me not having any water along side of my dinner. I am writing this review as I have been sat at this table for 15 minutes waiting for someone to clear our table so we can pay what we owe and leave. I haven’t decided to have a meal out with my family to be spoken to in such a rude manner nor lack of respect.

Visited upon my husbands recommendation ( he had previously gone on a Friday ) . Was shown a table in front of a wide screen tv where a group of men were ardently watching the Liverpool Arsenal match - declined politely . Requested another table . Was placed on a table adjacent to the dining room and another flat screen tv .

“I recently ordered dosa from Burfia in Northwood and was really disappointed with the taste. It lacked the authentic flavor and freshness I was expecting. Unfortunately, the quality did not meet my expectations, and I don’t think I’ll be ordering again. I hope they can improve the taste and overall experience for future customers.”

Anikas changed ownership in 2019, 20 years after opening in 1999. Unfortunately the new owners post 2019 have ruined the place due to poor food quality and slow service. More recently they have been closed down due to health and safety issues. The shop is currently being revamped and reopened by the original 1999 owners so keep an eye out.

Good for, service was friendly but a little aloof. Not bad for an airport stopover bite to eat.
