I love this place and their vegan options. Got filled rolls today with the likes of tattie scone, vegan haggis and vegan square sausage. The vegan square sausage is homemade and amazing. So much so we got a pack to take home! Staff are friendly and the owners lovely. During lockdown they provided home deliveries and were stars. The vegan range is exceptional. Recommended.

They make such amazing food, so speedy and reliant the are so nice I’d recommend them any day of the week

So glad we checked out the reviews for this place and took the very short walk from the royal mile to stop by here on our 4 day trip . . . twice! Best vegan brekkie I've ever had, I would have bought all their sausages if I didn't have such a long trip home. Had the loveliest person take our orders both times, made as feel so welcome on our first and last days in Edinburgh. Not much room inside, but our group of 5 had no problem sitting outside (great view down the hill), think it does delivery though which is handy is you're staying nearby. Highly recommend trying this place!

I booked a table here to meet with a work colleague. Reason for pre booking was the reviews here already which clearly indicated this would be a good place to meet. The staff were lovely and very helpful. For a small place, the menu was very impressive and the prices very fair. It’s quite a studenty area and clearly very popular with them, as in the 90 minutes or so we were there, it was kept busy by a steady stream of young folks. Thank you got a pleasant visit!

Fuimos a comer un desayuno escocés típico y lo que comimos estuvo muy bien (lo podéis ver en la foto), había más opciones de desayuno (incluido la opción vegana), pero la camarera nos recomendó este. El sitio es muy pequeño, la verdad que nosotros no tuvimos problema con el sitio, pero en el establecimiento hay cuatro sillas (más la terraza de fuera). Sí es cierto que fuimos a las 09.00 (de un viernes), que no sé si es la hora a la que comen lo que nosotros comimos, pero para encontrar sitio la mejor. El café era enorme, pero no estaba muy rico. La comida calidad precio (visto los precios de la ciudad), está muy bien. Las camareras muy amables.

A good place for a tasty take away or eat in. The vegan haggis was amazing, so tasty, so good. Not much space to eat in so after a long walk nice to sit. They were busy with takeaways so obviously well known to serve up a treat. Parking good too. Not expensive and very friendly staff even though they were run off their feet. thank you

Was walking to Arthur's Seat, this place was perfect for a pre hike fuel. Vegan all-day breakfast was delicious....more of the bacon alternative though...just one small slice was a teaser, loved the vegan haggis and sausage. The deli was extremely impressive so many creative vegan options.

We got a vegan all day breakfast and it was absolutely perfect. Great range of drinks and breakfast options and everything on the plate was extremely tasty. The lack of oiliness was really appreciated too making what would usually be a fatty dish pretty healthy all things considered! Best vegan sausages I've ever had and best vegan haggis possibly on earth. Scone was unreal too! So friendly as well and very accommodating. Highly recommend!!

I can't rate the food and service here highly enough. The vegan options are incredible, haggis, lorne sausage, black pudding, everything you could ever want if you love traditional food with a cruelty-free twist. I'm not near enough to visit regularly but will be buying from their website!

Stopped off here for breakfast and we wasn’t disappointed. There’s lots on to choose from on the menu as well as a large vegan menu. The food was delicious and not expensive (always a bonus). The staff were welcoming and attentive. It’s only about 5 minutes walk away from the royal mile and easy enough to find. Couldn’t recommend more, thinking of going back again today!!

The vegan food here is AWESOME - homemade sausages, haggis, lorne, for a very reasonable price. Will be back, excited to try the lunch menu.

After our week tour of Scotland we happened across this cafe en route to Dumfries when leaving Edinburgh. I am recently turned vegetarian and Scotland has became a challenge. My wife ventured in here as I sat lazily in the car waiting for another lifeless egg sandwich. How wrong could I have been!! My wife came back buzzing, vegan square sausage and egg sandwich! My travel mug washed and refilled and also veggie sausage rolls for lunch!! This perfectly topped of our trip and was the best breakfast bap I’ve had since going veggie!! The staff were lovely by all accounts and I will definitely be visiting again next time I’m in Edinburgh!! Thanks guys!! #lifesaver

Visited for breakfast on our anniversary weekend. Found online and decided to give it a try. Boy we certainly weren't disappointed!!! Family run, friendly and welcoming. Awesome menu with a huge selection. These guys make their own Lorne Sausage and it's to die for!!!! My husband had the breakfast and I had the lorne sausage on a roll. My husband gave me his haggis and I could eat that all day long!!! The sausage was fabulous and everything was cooked to order. We chatted with the owners who were lovely and so welcoming. Couldn't recommend this wee place highly enough!!! I hope the owners reply and share the link to where I can get the haggis and also of they do their Lorne by mail order. Good luck guys. You made our morning!!!!!

Et lille sted med meget få borde, der er ikke plads til mere end 5-6 stykker indendørs. Deres mad er til gengæld lækker. Vi fik en fremragende skotsk morgenmad, hvor det hele var i orden. Venlig og imødekommende betjening og yderst rimelige priser. Et rigtigt godt sted til morgenmad og lignende.

We came here for second breakfast and the vegan options in this cafe are brilliant, I had vegan bacon roll and my wife had vegan Lorne (flat sausage) which we both enjoyed. The staff were friendly and service was brilliant. Well worth a visit if you are vegan for guaranteed options. Plenty of choices for non vegans too.

Great location for the fringe just above the Pleasance. It was £18 for two breakfasts and two coffees, be careful of the additional 20% to eat the food outside on top of the menu prices. The food was brilliant and a proper traditional Scottish breakfast. Service was fast and with a smile, would recommend if you are passing.

Came here last week of May, with my gf, on our 2nd day of holidays, and were astonished as of all the different options for breakfast, brunch or lunch (as the name implies) that they have, as well as so many gluten free and vegan options, so anyone can enjoy the my flavours available. I had the allday breakfast, and my gf had a bacon & brie panini, and both were amazing! Defo the best Scottish breakfast I had, and I used to live in the city 10 years ago.

Kleiner laden in einer Seitenstrasse. Ein anstendiges Frühstück für 2 Personen für 15pfund vollkommen okay und auch lecker. Leider sind die sitzpläte auf drausen beschrängt diereckt an der strasse oder drinen an einer art Teke mit recht unbequemen Barhockern des wegen auch nicht die volle Punktzahl. Preis/Leistung war aber Top und der Service auch sehr freundlich.

He sido vegetariano por 28 años (mi hija es vegana) y el desayuno escocés vegano fue el mejor de todos. Fue tan bueno, mi hija y yo seguimos hablando de eso, así que volvimos al día siguiente.

Our accommodations were right across the street from BBL, so we ate there every morning while in Edinburgh. Great food at a great price. The owner was very friendly and made sure to say good morning to every customer who came in. Morning rolls were yummy and filling!

Stayed in a hotel a minutes walk away, which was ideal as we didn’t want to pay hotel prices for food!

This is a great place for a spot of lunch or breakfast (as the name suggests). They cater for all sorts including vegetarians and do some great fry ups.

Desayunamos en la cafetería en dos ocasiones durante principios de agosto de 2018. En el primer tiempo, no fue indicado que podría agregar salsa de barbacoa para las salchichas encargué y cuando lo mencioné después para el personal fue repentinamente me dijo que era mi culpa no haber sabido sobre la salsa y pedí yo misma. En la segunda ocasión, tuve que asiento yo en un pequeño taburete de bar dentro de poco porque no había habitación disponible para sentarse en las mesas en la acera exterior. Luego me cobraron 20% sobre el total de la factura por el privilegio de tener que hacerlo. Cuando me preguntó acerca suavemente y amablemente el cargo, el propietario/gerente no era remotamente disculpas pero muy grosera y agresivamente insistió en que estaba siendo difícil, ya que representa el IVA y que ella era completamente facultados para recaudar esta cantidad extra. En general, una experiencia muy desagradable.

We’ve visited BBL for breakfast. We ordered two vegan breakfasts and a coffee which turned out at around £15 (we ate in the cafe). The breakfast was very nice, especially the vegan haggis and sausages. Highly recommend this place for breakfast though it’s not the cheapest if you sit in.

Vegan lorne roll was delicious! I went two days in a row and had a tattie scone with it the second day. I will be trying their vegan breakfast next time! Staff were very friendly :)

Pero este lugar tenía precios muy decente, un ambiente familiar con la radio y personal, y muy cerca de broma muy adecuado funciona vegetariana completa En efecto. Eligió el café porque estaba en el camino a subir Arthurs Seat. Solo hay 8 sillas de lado el café y unos 12 en la acera. Éramos 8, así que nos sentamos en la acera, ya que era un día soleado. La comida era muy sabrosa y buena relación calidad-precio. El personal es muy amable.

Acabo de regresar de un delicioso desayuno vegetariano haggis, salchichas de Lorne, tocino, papas, frijoles, tomate un bollo, setas, tostadas, y una soja de moka. Recomiendo encarecidamente!

Breakfast très proche du centre et qui ne paye pas de mine. La serveuse qui doit être la patronne est très sympa et explique bien les différents menus.Un prix très raisonnable avec la quantité est la.Nous étions la 3 jours et avons pris notre breakfast 2 fois. Déjà envie d'y retourner!!

I had a lovely breakfast here. It is very small so is very quick service and the food was good too - I had the vegan breakfast and it was really yummy - no scrimping on the beans either which was great. The only thing worth noting is that they charge you an extra 20% on top of the prices listed on the website if you eat in.

Had the all day vegan breakfast - comes with vegan haggis, potato scone, beans, tomato, mushroom, vegan sausage and toast. All you could ever want. Definitely recommend! Such good value.

Went here for breakfast, manager was wonderful, food was vegetarian, gluten and lactose free, staff were very knowledgeable and more than happy to alter the content of the meal to ensure I have a full breakfast, highly recommend

We walked pretty far to get to this cafe after reading all the good reviews and it did not disappoint. We had the veggie breakfast which was immensely filling and very delicious. The only issue is the lack of seating, but if you are patient and time it well then you'll be alright.

Were looking for somewhere for a filling breakfast before walking up Arthur's seat and this was a great find! Good menu variety with veggie and vegan options, reasonable prices and lovely staff. Only limitation was there isn't much seating inside so not recommended for larger groups.

If you're craving a fry up /full Scottish breakfast this is the place to go! It not got much seating but for the standard of the vegan breakfast i think most would easily forgive that. It has a breakfast bar inside and a separate table plus more outdoor seating. I got the vegan breakfast which had sausage, haggis, potato scone, beans, mushrooms and tomatoes and i got the vegan lorne sausage as well (because i am greedy and couldn't miss out) It was great. It is really conveniently located on pleasance, 5 minutes walking distance from most the university of Edinburgh campus and the royal mile.

Anyone who hasn't visited Blake's you have missed out big time on a great experience. Don't take my word for it come and try it for yourselves. x

I have to say the walk to this little cafe was totally worth it. They offer so much choice if you are a vegan or vegetarian The gluten free breakfast consisted of sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, tomatoes and gluten free toast! It set me up for the day and to climb Arthurs Seat! :) The staff were very friendly too!

I must confess that I’m an avid traveler, I really like the experience of preparing my trip, being there and exploring the city, my job has made me travel to many countries and I have also travel by myself, that said, I`ve been to best of both worlds, super fancy restaurants that claim to have the best food in town were my company pays and local cuisines run by couple friends, a family, where I pay, I prefer the second option to be honest, well this place me really connected me with that authentic cuisine, away from touristy restaurants in the center packed with teenagers learning English in Edinburg during July, away from the streets crowded with tourist with selfie-sticks taking several pictures a second. During my trip to Edinburg I stayed in the Royal mile, first day I look for a good place to have breakfast, though many restaurants were opened many of them were already full, and I didn’t want to have that same dish everyone takes that is prepared in the hundreds every day, so I ended up buying a sandwich in Tesco, that night I prepared next day’s breakfast, I found “Breakfast, Bruch & Lunch”, few stars were awarded but I said, well, let’s give it a try, and well, walking 20 min really worth it, I found a small place, with some options, I picked the traditional one, I sat in front of the window, and I saw many locals parking in front getting in a asking for food to take away, food was awesome, truly local, actually they have a recognition because they use local supplies to produce their food; I had beans, saucisse, real bacon, etc.. go there if you really want to experience Scottish food. That day I had planned going to Arthur's seat, well after having all I just mentioned I had no problem to make it to the top of the mountain.

Went here with my girlfriend who is vegan and she said that this was the best vegan breakfast she ever had. I had a regular all day breakfast and this was also amazing. Staff were also very pleasant, will be returning from Glasgow again soon.

Disappointed to make the effort to find the place with the lure of Vegan lorne sausage, to find it closed. There was no signage to indicate if this was a temporary or permanent thing.I'd advise ringing before you go if it's out of your way.

A friend and I enjoyed breakfast here, who was up for the weekend from Newcastle, as its about a 5-10 minute walk from Waverley station. We both and opted for the buttermilk waffles, bacon and maple syrup which were delicious - just enough of a portion, perfect amount of syrup and nicely presented. It was £17.00 for 2 X pancakes, a pot of green tea and a fresh apple juice, like other reviewers have said the place isn't massive I'd say there's around 10-14 seats. It got busy as we were sitting, the eggs Benedict that the girls next to us ordered looked great too, they had lots of nice sandwiches etc. A great find in the city centre - I will visit again.

The kind of caf you visit for good honest grub. But what you get is great food and lovely and friendly service. There is not much seating inside but you can sit outside on a nice day. Prices are very reasonable and coffee is good. But the best thing? The vegetarian sausages! In fact these sausages are vegan but my carnivorous companion suggested I double check as even he suspected they might be meat! Best veggie sausages I have ever tasted. It's the chef's own creation and he popped out to say hello and talk about how he came up with this amazing food - genius. If you're looking for somewhere cheerful and friendly for a filling and tasty breakfast - meat or vegan - at a good price, this is a great spot.

We like to support independent trade wrath than corporates so thought we'd try this for breakfast. As another review has mentioned, very little seating. We had all day breakfast (not sure how much it cost per person as it came to £14.40 with mug of tea). Food generally good, but I substituted scrambled egg for fried and it was inedible - dry and one rubbery mass. We did get money off the bill and told we would have been given another portion if we had mentioned it at the time, but it would have been another pre cooked heated portion probably. So OK for breakfast if you go for standard but you can get better for the same price elsewhere. Friendly service have to admit as a positive.

BBL is a simple, no-nonsense café on Pleasance, with a wide selection of breakfast and lunch foods. Fry-ups, rolls, sandwiches, hot drinks, and a small choice of larger meals as well. The service was quick, which I liked, and the food tasted pretty good. I had a breakfast roll, and Mary had macaroni and cheese.The prices are higher than I expected, higher than similar places such as Snax. On top of this, I'm pretty sure I was overcharged, but didn't have a lot of time and didn't notice until after departure. Oh well, it wasn't a huge deal.The food is pretty good, you know what you're going to get. A reliable breakfast or quick lunch option in a good location. Quick service is also a bonus, but slightly too expensive, in my view.
