Bread Point in Newcastle upon Tyne

Been here for over 10 years now and very fond of this place. Never disappoints. Reasonably priced, friendly staff and extremely delicious, soft baked goods. They offer a variety of personalised birthday cakes and me and my family have been getting them every year from Breadpoint without hesitation, as the western cakes have always been too sweet for our tastebuds. Soft, light, fluffy and not overly sweetened, the birthday fruit cake (cream with almond slices on the sides) is their signature staple and 100% worth trying. I love their matcha roll, vanilla roll, egg tarts, custard pineapple bun and char siu buns. I've also been to a London bakery in Chinatown recently and the quality is on par with each other. I hope one day they can offer a slice of pandan cake too.

Attention fellow patrons: I want to share a recent experience I had with Bread Point that left me quite concerned. While enjoying a chicken bun from this bakery, I unexpectedly discovered a sharp piece of hard plastic inside it (as you can see in the photos). This was not just an unpleasant surprise but a serious safety hazard that could have led to significant harm. I believe it's important to inform others of this experience for your safety. Please exercise extreme caution and thoroughly inspect your food before eating or even during your eating. Your safe is paramount!

It is a lovely bakery with an excellent selection of baked food. We went a few times with a child and we will be back in the future. There are plenty of seats for visitors.

My favourite place, friendly staff & the best breads/cakes! So tasty and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely recommend :)

The Macha/green tea cake is awesome. We visit Breadpoint every time we come to Newcastle and we always purchase extra packets to take home to London!

So we always come to Breadpoint when we are in Newcastle it’s always amazing meat buns and cake are always spot on. Try to sample everything but the meat buns are a family favourite. Always baked nicely and filling is super tasty. Cake is always amazing and never had a negative experience.

Breadpoint is another hidden gem that HAS to be mentioned. An Asian Bakery shop selling favourites like Polo Buns, Portugese Egg Tarts and various assorted baked goods. The moment you step into this bakery, the smell of freshly baked goods whiffs around and it is heavenly. I love the fact that there's a dine-in option. With some freshly brewed Hong Kong Milk Tea coupled with lovely baked goods, it makes for the perfect breakfast on a Sunday morning. The people are really friendly in this bakery. My wife and I called here after being intrigued by the name as we were walking past. There's a selection of different Chinese breads with fillings such as pineapple, custard, sausage and cheese. We chose a mix of savoury and sweet, each one is less than £2. They also offer full cake type products. Everything we bought was delicious and even though it was bread based nothing was heavy or stodgy.

If I’m in Newcastle for shopping or wandering around with time to kill. Bread point is one of the best places to pop into for a snack and drink. Set out in a serve yourself into a tray and pay at the till fashion you have plenty of time to hum and har over what to have. They serve fantastic pork or custard buns as well as a seaweed and spring onion roll I discovered the other week which was a lovely find. The staff are more than happy to help with any choices and are always chatty and friendly. Drinks wise you can have bubble teas or green teas or just a coffee. Price wise you certainly won’t be breaking the bank if you go for a visit. It really is a hidden gem.

This is the real deal. You go to China and you will see little bread bakeries just like this. It's literally an exact replica. You use a tray and little tongs to pick up the bread and snacks that you would like. Pay for it, sit down and eat it. The food is really good for the price. For around £2.50 you can easily fill yourself up on tasty bread-based snacks. I would definitely recommend going here. Everything seems pretty freshly baked with lots of variety.

Plenty of very tasty baked goods to select from and unlike other Chinese bakeries they clearly mark what's lard free, which is useful for veggies. Nice teas, coffees and bubble tea and a compact seating area if you want to stay and eat.

While killing time waiting for a nearby shop to open we were looking for a place for a coffee. We saw Breadpoint & could see they did drinks so went inside, what a surprise. Staff were very friendly & while waiting for our coffee we had a look around the many pastries etc on sale. We tried the seaweed & spring onion roll & if this is anything to go by the rest of the food will be very good. Well worth a visit especially if you're hungry & ready to try a few of the items they bake on site. A great find at this end of the city.

Without fail every visit to Newcastle we visit Bread Point for cakes & pastries to take home (usually one to eat whilst there and multiple at home!)

There’s such a big range of delicious treats here that it is really hard to choose! Well worth a visit, either to sit in or takeaway.

Esta es de lejos mi mejor panadería china en Newcastle, ¡es como un pequeño paraíso escondido en una esquina! Me apetecía una tarta de crema de fruta con textura de rollo suizo.Después de explorar algunas opciones con el panadero finalmente me conformé con un diseño de 18.El pastel estaba listo después de unos días. Oh Dios mío, las palabras ni siquiera pueden describir lo delicioso que era este pastel. La crema no era demasiado dulce como es la norma. ¡Estaba hecho de dos capas con crema otra vez en el medio y fruta! ¡El deco en la cima era hermoso! ¡Todos respondieron que nunca habían probado un pastel tan delicioso!El pastel es querido, pero por Dios, ¡obtienes el valor de tu dinero!¡Definitivamente ordenaré pasteles de aquí a partir de ahora! ¡Gracias, pan!

Glad when this place opened, now a decent bakery to buy all the classic Chinese cakes, pastries, buns and savouries. Also order Birthday cream cakes from here, fair prices, good value.

Habíamos escuchado que el mejor lugar para obtener waffles de burbujas en Newcastle era BreadPoint. Sin embargo, se habían agotado y no esperaban regresar durante días. ¡Estábamos muy decepcionados! Cada una de las chicas se sacude el menú. Uno, el té tailandés de durazno, era inapreciablemente dulce y el otro, un batido de chocolate, era normal. El restaurante es mediocre por dentro, nada lujoso. La única gracia salvadora es la gran cantidad de magníficas selecciones de pasteles y delicias que se hacen en la panadería. Always friendly staff, lovely food, great atmosphere. Really laid back feeling whenever I've been. And the tastiest buns you'll find.

I make a point of coming every time I’m in Newcastle. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is always so cosy. Even during its busiest times (like Chinese New Year) the service is excellent and the food is high quality

Thank God for bread point! A vast variety of baked goodies, either to take out oh have right there while sitting in! A real favourite place for morning snacks!

Came across this lovely cafe after a visit to Dance City. Has now become a regular calling point after a class. Always a warm welcome from the friendly staff and plenty of choice for all tastes.

Can't find any fault to their products but staff are unfriendly and looks bitter... though i like their breads, definitely not coming back because of the rude treatment i've experienced

Me encanta el punto de pan. Dirigido y gestionado por el más bonito, el personal amable imaginables, siempre con una sonrisa en sus caras felices y un "hola" al entrar.

Pan de chocolate batidos puntos son para morirse. Absolutamente delicioso junto con el pan y pasteles diferentes. Sin duda recomendaría este tesoro escondido! El personal es amable y educado y siempre sonriendo! He estado viniendo aquí desde 2013/2014 pero no recuerdo la fecha exacta en que tropezamos con el establecimiento. Ha sido mi favorito desde entonces y voy casi todo el tiempo.

Wide range of sweet and savoury breads. Perhaps pot luck what you might like, but cheap enough that it doesn't really matter.

What can I say? Everything tasted very nice and it had a very comfortable atmosphere sitting inside. I can't believe how low the prices are compared to the great quality. Service was with a smile.Brought some of the nicest ones home for dinner on the same day.Fantastic (: will go back many times.

There's tonnes to choose from in this clean and friendly place - sweet and savoury with some unusual combinations for the western palate (nori, mayo and spring onion for example), but they're well worth a try.

They served two kind of egg tart, i expected it to look better, but it turns out not appealing. I decided to try the lotus with egg yolk thing. The taste of the pastry is blend and the staff were quite rude especially the owner were quarrelling so loud beside us.

Love the cakes from this little bakery. Generous size for the price they charge. Good customer service and friendly staff. They have considered and delivered some of our last minute orders as well.Lovely for people with a sweet tooth. Must check out !

Lovely little place that I hadn't seen before. Wide selection of breads which are clearly labelled with prices. Very cheap and great quality, food very good. Very clean too.Had a char sui bun and a wife cake, both tasted great and came to just £1.55

Hadn't been to Bread Point for some months, but as I was in town on Sunday, popped in for a quick snack.As ever, the display of pastries, both savoury and sweet, were mega tempting!I went for a peach tea, Char Sui turnover, crispy seaweed spring roll and a walnut cookie Whole shebang came to £3.50! Bargain! The food is both tasty and fresh... they bake everything on site so it doesn't get any fresher than this.If you haven't been, you're definitely missing out on one of the better and unique eateries in Newcastle!

Stumbled across this place and was so glad l did. So many lovely sweet and savory snacks. I don't live in Newcastle but if l did l would visit this place on a regular basis. Clean, friendly and great value. It just plain and simpley a little gem.

Almost everything food wise is below £1 so its great for a quick cheap lunch and there is soo much choice all of which are delicious! You can smell BreadPoint from the the gate which was enough to draw me and my friends in many of times!! Highly recommended to everyone

It's hard to find an asian bakery and when I found one (this one!), I was thanking the heavens. The bread reminded me of home and was simply amazing. Char Siew Bun, egg tarts, pineapple bun, hotdog bread, ham+cheese, sponge cakes. And it is not even expensive!

Bread point is amazing and more people should know about it! Great sweet and savoury bread - based treats at great prices. Always on rotation so you'll get something different each time.Today we got a hot dog wrapped in their sweet brioche, topped with cheese, a ham and cheese roll, bbq pork roll, pineapple custard turnover and their delicious coconut cream buns...All for just £5.10 and me and my boyfriend were full after sharing them all. Absolutely delicious. Sit in area, cakes, hot and cold drinks also available if you don't want to take them away.A must for locals and tourists...hidden just down from the gate in the city centre.

Breadpoint has some of the best filled breads I have tasted. A huge selection of content, where you serve yourself for a range of sweet and savoury buns. I would and have recommended it. It is definitely worth a visit for all.

Every time I'm in Newcastle I visit Bread Point. Love the choice of sweet and savoury buns. personal favourites are the coconut bun, peanut bun or ham and cheese! girls in this bakery are lovely with my young son too.

I was introduced to Breadpoint by my daughter, who visits often. In the "little Chinatown" area of Newcastle amongst other niche eateries such as Bubble Tea shops etc. Everything in Breadpoint is made fresh that day and having been here 5-6 times, I've yet to taste anything that wasn't absolutely delicious. Based on sweet white dough, there's a range of savoury and sweet pastries. You enter, pick up a tray and tongs and wander round the huge central island to make your choices ( No more thinking the waitress gave you the smallest cake, you pick your own LOL! ). Once sortes, simply take to the counter to order your drink and pay...and trust me, EVERYTHING at Breadpoint is inexpensive, half the price and less of chain coffee shops who buy stuff in anyway.Another big plus are the two young ladies who own(?) and run Breadpoint... always cheery and smiling and very helpful. Go to Breadpoint, it's a hidden gem, and deserves to be much better known.They also make amazing celebration cakes to order, too! I've taken the liberty of attaching a pic of one they made for my family recently. The cakes can be ordered by weight, and have THE lightest sponge I've ever tasted, they range from traditional Chinese through to Angry Birds and everything in between. Totally different from the mass made Supermarket stuff.

If you are familiar with oriental/asian breads and cakes, then you will like this place. Most products are based on sweet white dough, and vary only in the contents (savory or sweet) and toppings, and generally brushed so that buns are glossy on the outside. There are a few products that are based on croissant-like pastry with again savory and sweet options.The place is laid out so that, as you come in, you can grab a tray/tong, and walk around the counter where the breads are openly displayed and clearly labelled. The ladies behind the counter are friendly and efficient. If you did not come to "grab and go", to the left of the entrance are tables where you can enjoy your goodies.
