It is the best local bakery in Birmingham, in my opinion. But apart from the quality, it is the community spirit that I like.

I did the Viennoiserie cooking course at LOAF bakery last week - oh my god, it was the BEST day! Neil was an incredible teacher, and so knowledgeable; the pastries and brioche we made were amazing!!!! the lunch was sooooo delicious! the amount of pastries we each took home was huge!!! I LOVED the whole day, and I cannot wait to do another course there. HIGHLY recommend this course to everyone. Thank you LOAF. xxx

Did the back to basic bread making workshop today. It was such a fun and informative workshop. Neil is a great baker and teachers learned a few different methods for making bread and created different styles of loaves and rolls. Lunch is included which was home made soup and home made humous and of course breads. Really delicious. We were also treated to amazing croissants on arrival. I have learned so much and can’t wait to try out the techniques. Will do another workshop in future.

It's just okay. The bread is good. The pastries are always over baked and just don't justify the price, which is high. I've bought the almond croissants several times and they just don't quite stack up to french bakeries. also, the cookies are hard and seem overbaked. Go there for your bread. Go somewhere else for your pastries.

This place is the best bakery I've ever been to. They make proper bread and pastries, and they have hearty lunch options (soups, salad boxes, pizza, and yummy sausage rolls). You can tell they value high-quality ingredients, texture, and flavour. And it's a co-op, so you know the food comes from a true passion and love of the art of baking and cooking. I have never been to Bread and Loaf myself. Don’t get me wrong, I have always wanted to but, I have always found myself too busy to stop. Regardless, it is the type of shop you see in your city, town or village and recognise the value that its presence offers. Given these facts, you can imagine my joy when I heard my brother was a regular customer (Clearly has far more time to spare than me!) My joy increased when he started to drop me off the occasional loaf. The loaf in question is always the cheese and marmite yeasted white loaf and it is generally warm when he drops it off. I have to say, I currently share my home with my wife and a greedy Airedale terrier. However, for the last twelve months, we have also accommodated our daughter, her husband and our grandson. What I am trying to say is, this bread iis in high demand. It’s not quite feeding of the five thousand but, the smell of the warm loaf does not help me in my quest to smuggle it into the house and secrete it from our guests and, let me be clear, if there was ever a time to be selfish it would be when you have a cheese and marmite loaf in your hands that was still warm. One small final point. If you do happen to find some in your bread bin the next day, stick it in the toaster. You will not be disappointed! This is the tastiest loaf that I have ever had the pleasure of hiding from the family.

There were lots of different varieties to choose from and many had been sold by the time we got back to the shop by 2pm. We chose a walnut loaf and a sun- dried tomato loaf. Both are absolutely delicious! There is so much bread around masquerading as sourdough, it was wonderful to find the real thing! We paid £3.50 for each loaf .
