Instagram hype, nothing great about these donuts in my opinion . Very mid, heavy dough tasted like burnt bread, fillings had no flavour.

I am mildly obsessed with these bread sticks... had one for breakfast walking arounf Borough Market, and then got another for the walk back downtown... and then returned the next day for 2 more. Oh, I had an almond croissant as well that was excellent. But Bread Ahead, please help settle an argument... is the cheese cheddar? It tastes like a sharp cheddar to me, but a friend insists parm. Please help, and save a few for my next trip to London!

I used to love Bread Ahead, but we had a very disappointing experience here during our last visit to London. I had always said their homemade donuts were among the best in the world, but our VERY expensive box of sweet treats ended up in the garbage bin at our hotel later that evening. Overhyped, the line to get a box of donuts was very long. We stood outside in the shivering cold rain until it was our turn. We opted for 3 donuts, all stuffed with custard or pudding. The flavors were appealing and the items looked tasty. We paid 4.50 pound per donut, which is almost $6 per donut in U.S. dollars. This is an outrageous price regardless, but we were willing to shell out the dough (hee hee) for handmade goodies. We took the cute little blue box on the Tube and back to our hotel to enjoy with a cup of hot tea. All I can say is, what a waste of calories. Every donut was overcooked, one was so browned that it tasted burned. You can see in my photos how gross the treats looked. All of the treats tasted of very old cooking oil, which is a big no-no in the bakery business. They were disgusting, and I don't say that lightly. The custard inside was tasty, but that was all I enjoyed about my overpriced donuts. I am heartbroken to say that I can no longer recommend this bakery, especially for their donuts. I also apologize to anyone who went here based on my (former) glowing recommendation.

We bought three donuts between the four of us with the plan to buy some more. We had the creme brûlée, pistachio and chocolate donuts. Honest opinion from us all - nice, not super brilliant, expensive...£4.50 per donut. On the plus side however, we bought some sourdough starter from them.

Great bakery in Borough Market. I recommend the Crème Brûlée doughnut. Quick service and queues go down fairly quickly.

The donuts were in the oil for too long. Had a slight burnt taste. The vanilla donut taste graney...probably slightly split.

Expensive but the creme brûlée donut was divine with loads of filling both on top and inside the donut. It had a really good creme brûlée flavour too. It would be nice if there was some seating nearby.

Just love this place at borough market!!! Every single item looks amazing and tastes just as great! Have bought many items each time I visit London but think they have gone another level this time with the cream brûlée doughnuts!!!! WOW 🤩

We visited at the weekend, just before lunch. Excellent Mocha and cookie. Average doughnuts & coffee. Very over priced at £4.50 per doughnut.

Having previously noticed the long lines at this spot, we finally decided to sample the doughnuts on a bustling weekend. After a 10/15-minute wait, we arrived at the front to be greeted by an absolutely delightful array of sweet-flavored pastries. The warmth that envelops you as you approach the counter is a delightful fusion of brown sugar and a sizzling doughnut press, crafting the much-talked-about crème brûlée doughnuts. I simply couldn't resist the enticing sight of that generous honeycomb, gracefully perched atop a sea salted caramel crème doughnut. Keep in mind that the service area can get quite crowded on busy days, so it might be best to find another street corner to stuff your face…unless you're prepared to wait in queue for more (we nearly went for it). Delicious and delightful, can't wait to sample the other flavours. YUMM Taste: 4.5 of. 5 Visuals: 4.5 of 5 Experience: 4 of 5 Our Story Continues (Instagram) @Mindyofingers

I walked from the Tower of London on a bum knee to get to Borough Market. Then I pushed through hoards of people to find Bread Ahead. After seeing their donuts on Instagram, I knew I just had to try them. Between the three of us, we bought four different kinds of donuts which we sampled later at the flat. Yum. Bread Ahead didn’t disappoint. In a week full of delicious food, those donuts were some of the best things I ate. I will return to Bread Ahead the next time I’m in London for more deliciousness. If I was a local, I’d be a regular.

Lång kö men gick fort tog ca 10 minuter. Beställde Citron och Creme brulée donuts. Citron smakade vanilj. Lite fyllning bara utsidan.

"After following them on Instagram, we finally visited the market and oh boy, was it worth it! The Cream Barula Doughnuts were absolutely incredible - highly recommended! If you're ever in London, do not miss Borough Market, it's a must-visit destination. The Cream Barula Doughnuts were truly 'fire' and exceeded our expectations. Don't miss out on this amazing treat!"

They have gone downhill. The instagram generation has made them style over substance, and they are frankly fairly bland. Sad to say that for the price, Cross Town is far superior.

They have lost it completely. 4.50£ for one doughnut. Sorry, but this is too much, also the goods are far smaller than they used to be. What????

Hearing so much about the signature Crème Brûlée Doughnut, I thought I’d give it a try. I purchased 3 Crème Brûlée and 2 Coconut Cream doughnuts. Needless to say I was throughly disappointed!! At a cost of £27.00 for 6 doughnuts (Borough Market didn’t expect anything cheap) the doughnuts tasted stale. The oil they used must have been used multiple times, the doughnuts were oily, the fillings were sparse, the Crème Brûlée were bitter, and burnt. I mean Crème Brûlée should be crispy and caramelised not burnt. So no I don’t recommend Bread Ahead. Don’t believe the hype people.

A well recognised place which has been advertised well on Instagram. The crème brûlée is their signature product so I had to give it a try. It was very soft and a good amount of filling inside. It was nice but for £4.50 I certainly wouldn’t be getting it again. I think it would be reasonable for it to be £2-£3 which is my only concern on longevity.

Doughnut let the line stop you from partaking in this delicacy! The line moves fast, especially if you scope it out ahead of time. The creme brulee doughnut was amazing! All of their offerings looks delicious!

I'm a big fan of independent bakeries and have had great things here in the past. The bread is great. I was left pretty disappointed by the doughnuts offerings over the weekend though. They look amazing, and the dough elements is really good. But at £4.50 per doughnut you expect something extra. The appearance of the doughnuts promise this, but the flavour didn't. There is much less filling inside than expected, and a lack of flavour coming through in both the praline and cheesecake one. If you'd paid £2 a doughnut you'd be pretty happy. But not at £4.50.

They have many tempting offerings at their stall at the Borough Market and the cinnamon bun was the one that stood out to me the most. The bun was well baked and the icing and sugar used were not too sweet. There are many stalls with good food at the Borough Market but if you have room for bread or something sweet we feel this is a good option. Apparently their bakery makes good doughnuts as well.

I went to this bakery to try the creme brule donut, which I had seen on social media. It was phenomenal. I must try when at the Borough Market, or when visiting London. All the other baked goods looked great too.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. They didn't even remember what I ordered as I ordered it. Felt like they were abit absent minded and then asking silly questions about my order when I just stated what I wanted which showed PIRUNTHA wasn't NOT listening. Then her colleague also made the order wrong. This is the worst Costa! Better off going to others and Piruntha was rude speaking over me. She does not have good customer service skills and can be abit sarcastic. She also made me feel cheap because I wanted a small cup size of tea. This is not professional and I will be contacting head office. You will cause Costa to lose valuable customers with your attitude towards them. Other coffee stores whatever you order even if it's cheap they just add it on the till and don't try to have you buy a larger cup. I am a student and this was very unethical! Try starbucks and other Costa shops they're definetly more friendly and professional including not sarcastic. They don't shame you in other shops because you want a smaller cup. Never coming back here again and telling all my coffee lover friends including fellow students. That's atleast a lost of 20 customers! All the best, they may close this shop down if she continues with that attitude.
