Overpriced foodie hot spot. If paying exorbitant prices for not so delicious food, this is the place for you. Wait staff was pleasant as is the overall ambiance of the restaurant, but food was expensive and just not that flavorful. The sole had no flavor at all, and the steak we ordered was OK but nothing fantastic for 70 quid. If you’re drawn to Michelin stars and places everyone is bragging about, you might love it. We found it meh.

On arrival we were super excited to eat here. The staff and the ambience were great. Really cosy but bustling atmosphere. The wine we ordered turned out to be out of stock but instead of honouring the price and suggesting an alternative, the sommelier suggested one alternative that was twice the price. We eventually chose a bottle that we were happy with but we felt the sommelier was not very engaging or helpful unfortunately. The food sadly was really underwhelming. We ordered the smoked potatoes which were slightly under cooked and the seasonal vegetables which were just a bowl of mixed cabbage some of which were so large that they were also under cooked and we were barely able to chew. The cheesy leeks and courgette bread were excellent though. Overall we felt we could have cooked equally as good at home and really didn’t understand the hype. Disappointing on the food front I’m afraid.

Excellence, that still leaves room for human error with grace. This casual dining experience was not over the top “posh”, but still an extremely enjoyable experience nonetheless for a Michelin restaurant. You enjoy good food and great service, look no further. Very pleased.

Our long awaited second visit to Brat had finally arrived and the expectation among the family group was high to say the least. My last visit with my wife was exceptional, and on that occasion we had been masterfully looked after by the joyous Canadian export Victoria, and although she was not working on this occasion, we could not have been happier with the knowledgeable and charming Johnny who was more than capable of filling the void. From the moment we arrived, our every need from looking after our luggage, to sitting us down at an excellent window table , to guiding us through the menu of drinks and culinary magnificence was effortlessly managed. This restaurant simply has it all, from front of house, to a kitchen that has chefs who prepare and present food to a level that simply can only be applauded. The relaxed atmosphere, and happy buzz of satisfied guests creates an ambiance that is wonderful to be part of. The choice of wine and drinks is substantial, and the use of seasonal ingredients in the menu reminds you that the fruit and veg we generally eat falls significantly below what it potentially can be. The bill for five people was more than acceptable, and the joy of the family experience will keep us smiling until we have the opportunity to visit again. This is a restaurant experience that simply is second to none. Love, love loved it.

We were here for our anniversary, and were given two complimentary glasses of champagne, which was a lovely touch. Following that, the attention to detail significantly declined and the Michelin star prices were becoming difficult to justify; the food was good, but distinctly lacking anything special. With two mains coming to £100 alone and service being a bit of a mess, this was so disappointing. Firstly we confirmed a nut allergy with our waitress, only to be served a salad covered in hazelnuts about five minutes later, and the waitress seemed annoyed (?) and curt when we immediately pointed this out. This would have ended our night after the starter had my boyfriend eaten it and it was bizarre to feel as though she thought we were just being difficult. Allergy awareness should surely be a requirement. We ordered sardine toast to start, which was great. We also ordered the citrus salad, and for mains we ordered John Dory (£46) and the mutton (£50) with wood fired greens and potatoes. It was ultimately just fine; we both agreed we’d had better dishes at a gastropub for half the price. For dessert we ordered the olive oil ice cream and cheesecake with rhubarb. Both were unmemorable. The cheesecake was dry, not the Spanish creaminess we were expecting, with a careless handful of salt on the ice cream. Overall, the experience was a real let down having come in with such high hopes.

Brat has just earned its Star. The food was good but I felt like the quality of the beef was not great with allot of fat. The beef did have a good smokey flavor. Dover sole was on the dry side fro cooking on the grill. Excellent wine list and decent cocktails. Service was excellent!

Good, but perhaps didn’t quote live up to the hype. Service was friendly, sommelier in particular was knowledgable and we never felt there was any intentional ‘upsell’. Great wine list, interesting and reasonably priced. We started with oysters and both had multiple large shards of shell in which made for unpleasant eating. Shame, as the flavour was great. Steak tartare was up there with the best I’ve had, I’m glad we ordered toasted bread to go with as bitter leaves didn’t have the heft to support it. The signature pillowy bread (we went for the cheese and leek version) is indeed a showstopper and a must-have if you’re here. Scallop had great flavour but was a little overcooked and, at £14 for one, pretty expensive. Mussels were a little gritty but we loved the addition of citrus to the beautiful sauce. Turbot was delicious - potatoes and peppers ordered for sides were tasty but very very oily. Overall a nice night, glad we went, but we probably would not return. Prices reflect the Michelin star rating but not, in our opinion, the cooking or experience.

Lived up to the hype. Friendly, attentive staff. Food was incredible - bread with burnt butter, delicious wines. Courses arrived in no particular order but were absolutely wonderful - each dish a revelation. Steak, Squid and duck rice were stand outs. Cramped table with seating so close to the next table. For starters, Oyster was too sweet. Anchovy on flat bread was excellent Bread with sardine was good as was Squid with beans. Mussels was good - could have had more Mussel that was open as a number were shut and small portion for the price. The Pigeon skewer was good - small amount of meat- breast and hardly any on the leg. Beef rib - over done unfortunately with excessive amount of fat. Wood fire green was good. Service was good. Negroni was average as was martini. More thought need to be given to order of dishes as serving pigeon and then squid as not great for sequence of taste on the palate.

The food is largely delicious, although it does tend to verge on the salty side - and this is coming from someone who enjoys a fair lashing of salt on his plate usually! There is also a certain level of frantic energy to the place - some may find it buzzing and exciting, but it does at times feel like a stressful environment in which to dine. There are more relaxing places with similar food and price points all across town. That being said, you can’t take away how great some of the food is. They should jar the leeks and sell them in the street!

I visited with friends for a Christmas lunch. The staff look surprised when I asked if somebody could take my jacket, so not a great start. Finally get settled and the waiter arrives to "explain how the menu works," by which he means he tells us how many dishes we should order (turns out, far too many). This wouldn't have been a problem if the food was good.... padron peppers undercooked and lacking salt. Tiny bits of chorizo on a plate (fine but?), mutton at £50 with 95% fat content. A house bottle of red from Toledo in Spain mistakenly referred to as being from Valencia, and nearly a fiver more than what it costs at Noble Rot. I had read that the cheesecake was a highlight, but it was cold and firm (opposite of the warm runny cheesecakes I know from Spain). Coffees seemed to be an ordeal for our waiter, who was at pains to point out that we could only have espressos and nothing else. £290 final bill. My advice - save your money and go to any of the other brilliant restaurants in London.

Food is great. Loved watching the open kitchen/charcoal oven. However, we were crammed in. Impossible to have a conversation unless you want your neighbours left and right to hear every word. Let me start this review by saying that the main reasons for my star rating come down to personal preference. At the end of the day, Michelin have given this place a star, and whether you agree with it or not is kind of irrelevant, so the following review is how we felt about the meal we received on the day. The restaurant itself – certainly not we were used to when going to a starred restaurant. Very loud, some might call it slightly chaotic, others would call it buzzing. Tables are squeezed extremely close to each other, no privacy, you can fully hear the conversation from the table next to you. Again, some would have a problem with this, if you want a quiet and intimate dinner then I would not recommend Brat just for this reason. We had absolutely no problem personally with the service, but again, it’s extremely informal, so if you’re after this, go elsewhere. Our server worked very hard; they were unbelievably busy and did a great job all things considered. Food – Started off kind of annoyingly as my partner wanted the Sea Bass before even arriving, and they didn’t have any, already disappointed. Starters – Anchovy bread, which I had read lots of reviews ranting about, I found it to be pretty average to be honest, nice enough, but nothing to write home about. Partner had spider crab on toast, was nice, but again…just nice. I also ordered the lamb chop as starter, which is exactly all it was. One lamb chop, cooked in the wood/coal oven, served sliced on a small plate. No sauce or garnish, just seasoned. It tasted nice, but I was massively underwhelmed by it. This kind of encompasses our entire experience of the food in Brat. The place prides itself on keeping it very simple and not overly complicating things. Now if this is what you want then crack on and go, you’ll love it, and whilst we knew all this going in, I think we underestimated just how simple the food was and left disappointed as a result. Mains – Partner ordered John Dory, tiny fish, very little meat on it, took all of 30 seconds to finish it after picking every morsel she could off it. The table next to us actually ordered it to share as their sole main, it was both funny and sad watching them divvy about 3 spoonsful of fish between the two of them. I ordered the mutton chop, I was prewarned when I ordered that it was 70% fat…. Probably more like 90%. I actually enjoy eating the fat on meat, but about halfway through even I couldn’t go any further. All in all, probably 3 or 4 decent mouthfuls of actual meat, the rest was fat. Very expensive at £50. Again, both mains came with no accompaniments or sauces, literally just seasoned and sitting in their own juices. We ordered sides- smoked potatoes, which were ok but again nothing special, and wood roasted greens which were lovely but very salty. We didn’t order any deserts as I felt fairly sick after eating too much mutton fat. Summary – If you want formal, intimate dining then don’t go here, very loud, hip and trendy. We knew it wasn’t formal but didn’t expect it to be quite as informal as it was. The food – Some would call it basic, others simple and honest, but what it says on the menu is what you’ll get, essentially, a very well-cooked piece meat or fish, seasoned, on a plate. A bit too simple for us and even more so given the prices (our opinion). Glad we went, great experience, but wouldn’t go again. Again, in our opinion, we wanted a bit more all-round due to the star rating and accompanying star prices.

Made reservations for Thursday dinner .. this what we ordered Anchovy bread- 8./10 salty umami soft bread with fair amount oil soaked into the bread Lamb chop - die die must try…good strong lamb flavour with a good portion of fat cap… the jus was wonderful Langoustine - 7/10 not very meaty , the oil dressing was not flavourful enough and could do with less oily dressing Roasted Potatoes- 7.5/10 nice roasted, potatoes was still firm with Melted butter at the bottom to dress you potato if you want it more moist Wood fire vegetable - 5/10 couldn’t taste the fire on the vegetables but definitely felt the oiliness Duck rice- 7.5/10 We from Asia so our standard for rice base dishes is quite high… it had crispy texture but again you feel the oiliness of the dish Basque Cheesecake - 9/10 really good, balance of creamy cheese the hits of citrus flavour. We heading to San Sebastián in few days time so we will know how it compares Bought house wine & a beer. Total cost £155 If I go back again I probably try their steak or aged mutton chop since the lamb chop Was really good

We were a group of 3 visiting for dinner on a Sunday night. The place was heaving and had a nice buzzy atmosphere. Some tables have a view of the kitchen, although ours did not. The 3 of us ordered the grilled bread with anchovies,...

This is a very good restaurant. The service is impeccable, but the place can get warm during summer as it is small and it fills up quickly. If you are looking for more privacy and quiet, this is not it. We ordered several dishes and...

I had an incredible solo lunch here recently - food was delicious and the service friendly / informative. Would recommend the mutton chop if you like lamb, I keep thinking about it (it was that good).

The beauty of the dishes were in their simplicity and none more so than the turbot. The starter dishes were varied and exciting, and it is an experience worth the high prices. Of these, the spider crab salad and mussels were particularly delicious but you...

The restaurant, located in the Covent Garden area, has a small number of tables as well as a nice bar downstairs. The decor is sparing, but very nicely functional and is perfect for the dining experience. There is only a tasting menu, with some limited options and the approach lends itself to the quality of the meal, which was excellent. The service was friendly and knowledgeable and the timing was excellent. As the menu changes with the seasons it would be delight to return, The tastes in ech dish were vivid and extremely enjoyable. We will return when in London.
