lovely food.. l should have asked for a spare plate and only one serving of sandwiches between me and mum - mum and l had cheese and fig chutney sandwiches - crisps and green salad. Dad had one of his favorite sandwiches. l had a juice and pot of tea for one.. my dad had a beer l think and mum had ginger beer. service was ok.. bit slow but totally understanding that there where a lot of people dining in on account of the rain. it was really nice to see a few of the same staff we saw on our last visit in February. l really liked the rooms and loved just sitting there looking around at the artwork etc while eating my lunch.

Breakfast was ok. Shame at moment there is no buffet you have to ask and it is brought to your table. Coffee is disgusting. We stayed two nights but only had breakfast on one morning, choosing to leave early so we could get a decent cup of coffee. First night dinner disappointing. I didn’t realise you could get a pork chop so thin, it was dry and chewy but veg was very nice. Fresh fruit salad was just a bowl of melon with a couple of pieces of pineapple thrown in. I think a different chef was working the second night as food looked altogether different. Terrine to start, sirloin steak for main and cheeseboard was absolutely delicious. Staff are very friendly and service was good. Black and white decor is very stark and not very relaxing.

The evening meals here are definately to be recommended. The salmon starter was a fantasic blend of textures and flavours. It is making my mouth water just remembering it.I particularly liked the fruit salad as it allowed the natural flavours of the fruit to come through. All too ofter this is masked by a very sugary taste, but not here. The chef certainly kinows his stuff.

Very average. Chilled grapefruit juice was on the menu, but non available. I asked for some and it came warm. The buffet was luke warm, sausages over cooked, scrambled egg did not resemble scrambled egg, the pastries were very limited and cold, toast was a 'do-it-youself', everything self service, cereals in boxes, cold meats looked rather tired; in short not worth the money.

Went to the bar / restaurant whilst waiting for check in (after 3pm check in only). We got there about 2.10 and ordered a few drinks and some snacks - chicken wings and broccoli tenderstems. We get to 2.45 and nothing has arrived. I ask the manager what is going on and he advises the food is on its way but there was a problem with the broccoli. First, why did I have to go them for updates? The food doesn’t arrive until 3.10. I went up at 3 explaining that we have been waiting for 40min. At which point they offered me my money back on the broccoli. The managed was rude and dismissive. Awful way to start my stay there but overall I found the staff at the hotel to be inattentive and not overly interested.

We chose the overnight stay with dinner and breakfast included. So glad we did the restaurant was in an ideal location overlooking the grounds we had a window table for 2. The menu has a lot of choice and also let's you know what dishes come with a supplement. We ordered the warm breads with oil very nice. The pork and hock starter with home made pickle. Again very tasty. Mains lamb shank and veg mash again cooked well and plenty of taste/pork chop with cinnamon apple with chips tomato and mushroom was absolutely fabulous cooked to perfection and a lovely piece of meat wasn't dry as can sometimes be the case was so pleased with choices. We had the citrus dessert again very nice. The food was well prepared delivered hot to the table and all with smiles from the staff well done everyone concerned (29.06.19) and there was an happy atmosphere too.Would definitely recommend beats warners 2*michelan restaurant at Thoresby Hall hands down and can compare as the same menu which was inedible back in 2018.Heythrop Park is much better and the staff are a credit. The meal in the Brassey restaurant was, I think, the worst meal I have ever eaten. The "Cheese Brulee" was a cold and gelatinous stodge of cheese and cream, and the Butternut Squash gnocchi was a bilious orange and tasted of something ersatz and rather nasty. My partner's melange of seafood starter came in a tiny shell. Even the rolls I asked for (extra) came cut in half (for economy?) despite being tiny anyway. To top it off we were charged 26 pounds for two courses each, so even if it had been less than rather disgusting it would have been over priced. If you have to stay here eat at The Crown in neighbouring Church Enstone (about a mile away). Lovely pub with fabulous food.

Staying in the hotel which houses the Brassey restaurant, which is quite remote in location helped us choose to eat here. When staying at Heythrop Park, you are limited in options should you partake in alcoholic beverages and responsibly do the right thing by not driving. Thus your only option for a decent meal is the Brassey, it presents itself as a higher end smart formal restaurant. The menu is similar to a gastropub but with a slightly more adventurous variety of food. All of us in our party of 4 enjoyed the food and found the portion sizes just right. Service was friendly and helpful throughout our meal. Prices were a bit elevated for the quality of food, but since you are a captive audience being in such an isolated hotel they feel they can charge above the going rate. If I happened to stay here again, I wouldn’t mind eating dinner in the Brassey restaurant for a second time.

Before booking our table (6 days before our visit) I asked can you cater for a Gluten Free diner and was reassured by the reception staff that yes there would be gluten free options on the menu. The Brassey was very busy on this Saturday night. We were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our table. The waiter in our section was very busy and took a long time to come to take our drinks order but we were chatting and enjoying ourselves so it didn't matter too much but it was noticed.I enquired about the soup on the menu to see if it was gluten free and explained I could not have Wheat products. If it was gluten free I would have the soup. He asked if the fromage frais was taking away from the soup would that be ok and we have GF rolls. I explained it was not dairy I had a problem with it was wheat. I ordered steak and chips for my main. I received steak and mash potatoes. No explanation was given as to why I had mash but I do presume the chips may have been fried in oil that non GF products were fried in. Time to order desserts and I was old I could have fruit but everything else had gluten. I asked if I could have ice cream as there was vanilla and rum & raisin on the menu as part of other desserts I was told they were not gluten free. So I had no dessert. During conversation we realised the table beside us had a person who was dairy free and we really think our waiter was mixing the two allergies up. The two other guests with me were delighted with all their food, great local produce and well presented by the kitchen staff. So if you have not allergies there is a good selection of sessional foods on their menu. The steak I have to say was of very good quality.Disappointing evening and when we return to the hotel we may look for somewhere in the nearby villages to eat.

After booking into the Crown Plaza Hotel we decided to have dinner at this restaurant which is inside the hotel itself. When we entered the restaurant it was almost empty but soon became busy. We ordered drinks and dinner at the same time as we were made to wait some time before ordering. The starter came out very quick and we finished eating this well before our drinks turned up. The white leather-look chairs were very dirty and worn on the arms. The menus were also dirty. The food itself was well presented but poor in quality. The service was shocking, we constantly waited and we were never offered another drink. The waitress seem void of a personality and the staff in general could barely speak a word of english. All in all a very disappointing dinner and we wont be going back.

In the end my partner went and found a member of the kitchen staff and it eventually arrived after almost 30 minutes. We had booked dinner bed and breakfast as a gift for my friends birthday. We booked in advance as we guessed the restaurant would be busy, it was very busy and loud. The menu looked really good, I had a goats cheese starter, my friend had asparagus in hollandaise sauce. The goats cheese was minuscule! It was two bites big, nice but definitely far too small. The asparagus was reasonably sized and very nice.Main course, I had tandoori chicken, supposed to come with rustic chips, they were frozen chips, 6 in total. My friend had risotto, delicious but a spoonful, far too small portions. My chicken was a reasonable size so we ended up sharing it. For desert my friend had cheesecake, I opted to pay the £2.50 for cheese. My friends cheesecake was ok, the cheese was bland and again a really small portion, the biscuits were broken! We returned clean plates as we were hungry, we weren't the only ones complaining about the portion size, they were far too small. The wine list was good, but really, really expensive, we had an OK bottle of Sauvignon blanc but no way was it worth £29. I took my wife to the Crowne Plaza for a little break two weekends ago. We had been wanting to visit Blenheim palace for some time so took the opportunity to stay over whilst there. [more on the hotel to follow]The Brassey restaurant. This was an odd place. I loved the decor black /white theme though the whole place lacked atmosphere. Service was slow and there seemed too few waiters for the restaurant on a Saturday when it was full. it was better on Sunday night though this was probably due to the place only being a 1/4 full. Staff seemed more used to serving breakfast as opposed to waiting in a restaurant as there seemed to miss a lot of the nice touches you get in a restaurant. I had hoped that Crowne Plaza would have a different set up to Premier Inn.Food wise, this differed between the nights, in terms of quality. Perhaps related to number of covers. Having the same menu both nights was a little dull, it did mean that Sunday's evening meal was decided mentally on Saturday night. Overall all the food was well presented. The portions could be a little more generous. Don't go for the Exotic Fruit Salad...as a desert should be sanctioned under the trade description act. Chocolate mousse was a big glass of rich chocolate. Very rich. Lemon Posset was nice. The Lamb main dish seemed to lack something, though the sword fish was cooked nicely. think eating there twice is a bit of an overkill, especially when breakfast is also there.

The food was excellent as was the service. I would like to thank Irene personal who looked after us throughout our meal. I will certainly be return sometime in the near future and I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

Nine of us came here for Easter Sunday lunch and it was lovely. Very reasonably priced and the food was tasty. It was a carvery with as much soup and salad as you wanted for a starter, then carvery. The chocolate cake for pudding was amazing! The children and Grandad loved the ice cream machine and all the sweets and flakes. They then received an Easter egg. It was a lovely afternoon and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Couldn't fault it. We will be back. We also had a lovely walk around the gardens. Thank you!

Oh dear oh dear. What a shame. Very smart upmarket surroundings spoilt by poor service all round.Considering there was only around a dozen tables booked, when we arrived we ordered our drinks and waited 10 minutes for them. Second round was even worse and the Manager came to chase up the order. The food was over cooked.Just to add that THREE other tables all complained about the service. One table of around 8 had almost finished their mains when the last 2 guests were served. The lady was upset at having to now eat whilst the others had finished around her. Another table the chap walked across the the reception and asked what was taking so long and pointing to his watch say something about how long they had been waiting. Wine was nice though and the young lad that served our table did his best to check up on us.

Breakfast was a logistical nightmare, with only half of the cooked breakfast available at any time and this was overcooked!

Terrible...overpriced and very poor. Read review of crown plaza heythrop park Dec13! Do not order the piri piri or kiev - terrible. there are only a couple of other options on the menu so choice will be limited!

I had a Pork dinner here. It was a little overpriced, the surroundings were characterless, and the service was average.

The adult food was very good in terms of selection and quality however service was a bit hap hazard and slow. We had to ask for menus and to place our dessert orders and courses were slow in coming out. The restaurant wasn't very busy at all however there was a large table of conference attendees dining at the same time which may have added to the problem. We dined with our children and our eldest ordered the kids fruity chicken curry but it had to be returned as it was very spicy, wholly unsuitable for children, many adults would struggle with it too. The rest of kids menu was uninspired - not all children like chips!

We stayed at Heythrope Manor and Spa over the weekend of 27-29 September 2013. The Crowne Plaza is joined to the De Vere Manor and Spa. We decided to eat in the Crowne Plaza and opted to book to eat in the Brassey Restaurant on the evening of Saturday 28 September. At the Plaza reception we attempted to book a table for 8.00pm only to be told there were no tables available, we tried for 7.30pm only to be met with the same response. We were finally offered either 7.00pm or 9.00pm. Reluctantly we opted for 7.00pm, noting that if they were so busy it must be a decent restaurant, we were wrong! On arrival we noted there were only about 10 diners in a restaurant that must have around 150 covers. The food was of a very poor standard. The Thai fish/crab cakes were clearly from a catering pack and I wouldn't be surprised if they went straight from the freezer to the deep fat fryer. The waiting staff stated the chefs recommendation was the Piri Piri chicken, unfortunately when it came it was as dry as a house brick. However, as the clock hit 7.30pm, a time we were told had no tables available there was the grand total of 17 people in the restaurant, at 8.00pm a group did arrive but the restaurant remained 2/3rd empty. Just to emphasise the appalling service when my wife asked a member of staff where the toilet was the reply was "no idea".I did remark to the duty manager about our experience but needless to say we had no feedback, such disdain for the customer appears the norm.So we have poor service, poor food, and a terrible level of respect for the customer. My advice is steer clear of this appalling place and get a cab into Chipping Norton for some decent customer service and good food.Sent from my iPad

Nice pup, but then it should be with the amount of money spent on it. Pricing food but the price of beer was reasonably. Good helpful staff.

Chip portions not consistent, seem to get fewer and fewer. Asked for battered sausage and it came without batter, second time in a row. Lost our custom.

My wife and I had called in here on Saturday 16th September to see if we could grab a bite to eat and a drink. Unfortunately at lunchtime they did not do any food but did kindly suggest another local place for us to eat at. After about an hour or so we returned to have a drink in the bar area and relax in what we thought was a superb traditional local pub which just had so much character. One of the locals made us feel very welcome and came over and had a chat with us both for about 10 minutes. He gave us some local history info and mentioned about the village and its links with the tv program Downton Abbey. All in all a very nice visit and if we were ever in the area again we would not hesitate in calling in. Thank you.
