Five friends and four guide dogs enjoy there night out. It is so nice to be welcome into a restaurant that doesn’t make you feel a Burden because of the dogs and sit you hidden away. Made to feel welcome by all the restaurant staff that look after us. Meal and evening excellent

CJ looked after us very well, at both dinners/nights of our stay. We both have food intolerances and eating out can be a bit “Russian Roulette” (as they’re not “known” allergies on the ingredient cards). CJ was very attentive around this, which is a great comfort, as it means we’re prepared to try meals we might not usually do, and she was generally excellent. Thank you CJ. The aesthetics throughout the entire property are gorgeous, so the restaurant / bar area is a really nice setting. The separate seating areas around the bar are also lovely spaces in which to relax. Great choice of food and drink; most excellent

Not been here before, the place was empty when we entered for Sunday lunch, which was good as it facilitated social distancing. The menu had 4/5 choices for starters and for mains. I went for cauli/stilton soup and roast beef. The soup was strongly flavoured and hot, while the beef was carved from a proper joint of meat. While I didn't have a pudding my family reported their puddings where all very tasty. It's not a cheap lunch but it's good quality. Lewis provided great service, but it did get slow as the restaurant filled up.

We were staying in the area with friends and had an evening meal. There was a buffet special offer that evening which looked as if it had been out for a while so we decided to eat off the bar menu. This restaurant is part of Barnsdale Hall Hotel, so it is surprisingly un-plush. The restaurant was quite empty, so we were next to tables that were set up for breakfast! Service to get orders were prompt. The meal itself took a little while to appear. The pot roast lamb was nice & tasty with meat that fell off the bone. However, the sirloin steak was tough, even when done medium/medium rare. The pheasant was also a little dry with no gravy. You had to order the carbs on the side- their chips were nice. Overall, nothing special sadly.

Do not go here stay away! Absolutely terrible. We had heard that this establishment had a great reputation unfortunately we were mislead. It was meant to be a nice birthday meal for 8 peopleNo greeting on arrival, no one to take coatsBar area is just that a bar area, not a comfortable lounge (looked almost like a bar area at a travel lodge). There was no waitress service for drinks in the bar area. After going through to dinning room I decided to out my drink on the table as you do. The table was nicely dressed however hiding under the table cloth were two different sizes of table so when I put my drink down it tipped over, nobody rushed to help or offer to get another drink. Service was very slow to non existent throughout the night, there were a handful of waiters/waitresses were working hard but just no organisation so tables were left unattended. Had to wait for bread although wasn't worth waiting for it was a slither of bread although nice selection to choose from We had to use the same wine glasses for both red and white, we're not offered fresh glasses so needed up with rose. Thai green curry (starter) was a watery broth that tasted like fairy liquid. Fish pate was served with croutons (not quite sure how they expected that to work). Lamb shank was crematedSirloin steaks were ordered med/rare but arrived rare (still mooing) Pheasant was dry (yes this can be tricky) but it would have been better served with a sauce it can with a tart the only way I can describe that is a tick pastry tart with dog meat and tomato sauce in itBecause you had to order side separately (not usually an issue) it all came out at different times so by the time your side came out the main was cold. The onion rings were raw! Through out all this we were having to find staff to order drinks......so we were fed up and wanted to speak to the manager so we waitedAnd waited And waited Finally the supervising waitress arrived, said that we could have two bottles of wine free I'm sorry but this isn't good enough can asked to speak to the manager so again I insisted so we waited....And waited... We went out expected to pay some money for a nice meal with good service and be looked after....it was a birthday ruined

The brasserie is never going to win awards for style. The lighting and the seating are dated to say the least, but the food and service more than make up for this. The front of house staff are happy, smiling, helpful and efficient - and you can't ask for more than that.Of equal or more importance is that the food is simple, plentiful, well cooked and reasonably cheap. This is not an establishment in which to have a quiet, romantic meal, but if all you want is good value-for-money food then it more than satisfies the criteria.

We booked a table in the Brasserie Restaurant as we wanted somewhere special to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Barnsdale Hall website kind of gives the impression that restaurants may be part of the old hall overlooking the water, however, the restaurants are separate to the main hall up quite a few stairs (or a short drive) over-looking some wooden chalets that make the place look more like Centre Parcs than a plush country retreat. The food was underwhelming... The Trout was overcooked and burned on the edges, the Eton Mess was.... a mess - just a spoon of cream, some whipped egg whites (soft) and a couple of strawberry's.The restaurant décor makes it look dated (a bit of a 60's feel) and it just did not feel special or plush.

The food and service were very good but the Barnsdale Hall Hotel Brassiere delivers a sting in the tale at the end of the meal. The price you see on the menu is not the price you'll pay - menu prices don't include VAT and it does not say that against the individual food and drink items or anyway on its online menu. You only discover that VAT was not included in the price when you receive the bill when it is added (currently at 20%). For instance, the menu says the Salted Caramel Tart with Ginger Ice Cream is £6.50 but that is not what you'll be charged. There will be 20% added to it so the actual price is £7.80. Have a three course meal with couple of glasses of wine and you can see that 20% starts to add up. I personally don't like it when a restaurant can not be transparent and upfront about its pricing - it really doesn't take much to put on the menu ex-VAT or even better put the full price so you know what you are paying. Transparency builds trust and ensures that customers can enjoy their meal without having a sudden inflation of their bill at the end of it. At best it's poor practice at worst it's sharp practice. If you are planning on attending then do check with the restaurant staff what the menu price does and doesn't include. If there is a big group of you then you could be landed with a nasty shock when the bill arrives and that can leave a very sour taste in the mouth.

Went with a friend for Sunday Lunch Carvery and had 3 courses. Although the food overall was very nice, it did have it's faults such as the chewy roast potatoes. In my opinion it was expensive for the quality. The views towards the lake were pleasing but the single most aspect that let this place down was the terrible service. Some of the staff seemed not to be able to speak English very well and so I was unable to get several questions answered or requests fulfilled. We were shown to our table but after 15 minutes no-one had come to take our order. When I approached a member of staff to point this out, rather than take ownership of the problem they just rudely said "your table is not my responsibility" and I was left wondering if I should go in search of the person whose responsibility it was. In addition to the food we ordered two drinks but only one of them was delivered to the table. The couple on the adjacent table spoke to us about how their experience was equally disappointing. I will probably not go to this place again.

I, together with seventeen former work colleagues and their wives, enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch at the Brasserie Restaurant. Several of the party had travelled a considerable distance to join us, and it was thus gratifying that their journey was rewarded by being able to spend time before lunch in comfortable surrounds, and later to enjoy a well presented meal. The starters and desserts were excellent, whilst the main course (carvery) was likewise of a high standard. Furthermore, the Sunday lunch menu is excellent value for money. The staff were excellent throughout. Booking for an indeterminate number of guests was not a problem. On the day the restaurant staff were attentive and very accommodating - producing separate accounts for individuals / couples rather than a single comprehensive account - thereby avoiding the customary `debate' as to who had what.Overall a very satisfying experience for all concerned which several of the diners have already suggested we repeat sometime in the future.

Went for Sunday lunch (carvery) with friends visiting the area. We were duly seated and given the set menu for the lunch, which offered 3 courses for £15.95, which indicated good value. At first, we were offered drinks followed by bread rolls before our order was taken. One member of our group asked for a 2nd roll, which was reluctantly agreed to, albeit with an almighty sigh! When the "Team Leader" came to take our order, we asked what the soup of the day was, only to be grinned at for about 20 seconds whilst the cog's in his head whirred, only for him to come up with "I think its Bramley Apple". Bramley Apple soup?!?! Being intrigued and somewhat adventurous, one of my friends decided to give it a try. When it arrived however it was announced as Pea & Ham, a far more orthodox flavour of soup. We did pity the poor waiter, it was after all, green, how silly of us to expect he would know the difference between apples & peas! When it was time to get our carvery, we waited in line to be served the meat from the Chef. We asked why there were no vegetables at all on the carvery, only to be curtly told that they had been very busy and so we would have to wait for our vegetables. At this point it is worthy of note that we were the first people to be called up for the carvery and there were no other tables eating... how they claim to have been busy I will never know. And finally, for dessert I ordered a White Chocolate & Cherry Cheesecake. When it came, it was in a small martini glass, with no biscuit base, just some pile of white slop, which vaguely resembled 1980's angels delight and drizzled with some reddish water which floated unattractively on the top of the aforementioned slop. Even the poor waitress apologised when she served it to me and said "I'm not sure what the kitchen are doing!". Needless to say I sent it back and opted for the homemade apple crumble. Whilst it was better, it was certainly bland and tasteless. I might probably consider going back again, if for nothing other than the comedy value, of what seemed like a disproportionate number of waiting staff (there were so many of them they were falling over each other) and still they were totally unorganised and inefficient. Such a shame because the hotel is so lovely and the view spectacular, the management/owners really need to up their game when it comes to the restaurant.

Considering the beautiful setting of Barnsdale Hall, the restaurant is disappointing. Having said that the food was freshly cooked and tasty. The menu was varied, although maybe a little too much use of egg!!Would certainly recommend the wild mushroom starter as well as the belly pork and sesame fritters.Service is very hit and miss, sometimes excellent, sometmes very slow.

The hotel deserves a much better restaurant than this. The staff try hard but are not trained well enough. The food was very good actually, so fair play to the chef! The wine list was hopeless and you'd find much better in your local Weatherspoons! The service was not good at all and when we ordered espresso's we were served with what looked like dish water. In fairness the waiter tried again and got a better result second time around. Breakfast the next morning was also very good food. The hotel and the chef deserve a much better restaurant than this!

Excellent food and mainly great service, just a little slow on the Friday night. Breakfast was fantastic with great choice and high quality food.

Having booked a family table for 7 persons we were all looking forward to a special Christmas Day lunch.Imagine our disappointment - part cooked vegetables, hard rubbery dry potatoes, turkey semi-cooked, even the Christmas pudding was dry & tasteless. In all, a low standard of 'industrial catering' and certainly listening to many other 'guests' at the venue one to definitely cross off in 2013.Don't be surprised either if you fail to recieve an adequate apology - that's not part of their menu either!Certainly a memorable experience but one I'd not recommend - be warned!

What an absolutely gorgeous 3 course Sunday lunch. Cannot fault the food, service and atmosphere. The “Pork& Chorizo” Scotch Egg starter was delicious as were the Scallops my wife had. For main I tucked into one of the best Roast Pork I have ever tasted! For puds there was in my opinion only one item on the menu to pick … Caramelised Apple Crumble with custard … yum yum! Cannot recommend The Old Pheasant enough now it’s under new ownership … big round of applause to Damon and Chef Robert.

This company had a stall selling coffee and pastries at Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. They took the payment and then I realised there was a 20 minute wait for two coffees and a pastry which cost over £12 and the coffee was horrible. Muddy, weak and tasteless. I asked them to redo it, which one of the guys did, however, it was still weak and tasteless even with half the water. I was told to wait to complain to the manager but when he eventually came he was rude and refused to give me a refund. Other people in the queue were also unhappy and someone else brought their drink back as well. I said I would post a review and he said he didn’t care as he had sold thousands of coffees. Terrible service and coffee and the manager is arrogant. Avoid this company if you can

Been a free times since moving nearby. Food is ok, but oh my are they slow! Gave up in the end and drive to a nearby one and was served instantly even though they had a few customers too. It’s like they take one order and wait until it’s totally ready before taking next order… even though there is 5 plus people working there!
