Hardly had my buttocks grazed my chair when waitress thrust a menu at me and demanded that I order quickly because the kitchen was closing in an hour. As I raised the last fork of my main to my lips she was back: had I decided on my desert.

Would I go back. Probably not. It was ok. Just not special and there is so much choice in St Paul's. The service was different, the food was as you would expect. Had to send the steaks back...all three of us...nothing more to say.

Visited Brasserie Blanc for a late lunch on Thursday so the restaurant, although beautifully decorated, was empty and we were the only customers so felt a little odd until staff gathered to have their lunch altogether. Received a good welcome, and waiting staff was quick to take order from set menu and serve us a drink. Although on the menu there was a seasonal soup, and a seasonal dessert, these were not offered to us – we had to ask. Enjoyed starters. My partner did not finish his hamburger (slightly overcooked to his liking) but rump steak OK and cooked how I requested. I selected Poached Pear for dessert but unusually this wasn’t actually cooked – asked a server if it should be cooked (as I couldn’t remember the description) and it was taken back to the kitchen - and never seen again!!!!

I visited here for a work Christmas party and we had a good time. I am a big fan of Raymond Blanc so had high expectations. Although I did have a nice meal, I did feel that as it was Christmas time, it was more "mass" catering that perhaps lacked some more of the finesse you would expect.Could not fault the friendly staff and I like the atmosphere in the restaurant, particularly the Blanc Christmas crackers!I will go back out with Christmas time to see the restaurant at its best I think!

The venue feels a little stuffy (due to its City location perhaps?) and the service was patchy, with several different servers involved meaning little continuity, and several examples of the wrong items being brought to the wrong tables. The menu was better with interesting dishes and good quality cooking, although three scallops for a main dish felt and looked rather mean. Eating gluten free was, as expected, pleasantly easy.I definitely preferred the Portsmouth outlet where I've been before and, while I really like this chain and will return, I would avoid the City outlet next time.

This was my first time at Brasserie Blanc, but work sponsored an interesting meal for the 20 or so of us. My glazed pumpkin pieces were delicious, well 6 out of 7 were cooked perfectly however one was still raw. The chicken in a tasty tomato sauce was nice, but dry. All in all, these are very minor issues. The problem really came from the slow service, waiter not really paying attention to these two tables. Often we had to call the two of them over to order a couple of drinks. I would have expected for the location, the beautiful decor, the price! That service and the food would be top instead it was average.

Is this an ecofriendly restaurant as they appear to waste nothing... Yesterday's tart served as special of the day? Or was it a twice baked tart? Of course in Watling street, leather is something of a tradition. The cheddar cheese soufflé was more like a baked alaska based on the range of temperatures it displayed - I was warned that the dish it stood on was very, very hot - it was - but the inside was still chilled (and somewhat solid). Obviously as a Brasserie, you learn to expect food that is pre-prepared but this is simply culinary laziness. When was the last time Raymond himself ate here? If I put my name on something, I'd like it to be my standards. Raymond I'd suggest you get here fast or take your name off the door.

me & my work colleagues tend to visit at least once a week (my boss visits everyday) & the service, food & atmosphere are always consistently fantastic. With an ever changing menu you never find yourself ordering the same dish, if you visit quite often, & yet the food remains delicious.Sometimes, on a very rare occasion, service can be slightly slow when brining out main courses even when the main restaurant seems relatively quiet. The staff are all individual characters & very charming - all bringing a different flare to each meal.I would certainly recommend to anybody who is out in town or passing on the odd occasion.

booked a meal on the 'experience' deal with the Daily Mail 2 courses for £40 - never again. Manager made us feel uncomfortable as if we were rougues. Very non-professional - no one wants to eat with the staff - they came up from the kitchens and sat really close to us. I could have stayed at work and received better respect. Staff goofing about in the upper kitchen, very loud and disturbing. My poached egg on my starter was cold, though it would at least be warm! Seemed a restaurant for the staff. Toilets unflushed, and not clean enough. Over charged on the bill. Light bulb gone on the big light fitting, walls chipped. Come on Raymond go see your restaurant !! We had planned this experience for months and it just left us deflated. We have dinned in some nice places and this goes right to the bottom of the pile. I will also be writing to head office.

For a chain, the St Paul's venue is run like a family-owned restaurant with really personal, smiling service and a sense that you are important as a customer. I go there frequently for both business and pleasure. It is a stark contrast to the Brasserie Blanc in Beaconsfield where I live. I suspect this is down to the management as the menu is the same.

We were taken to this Brasserie Blanc by a friend who lives not far away and walks there from his flat frequently for dinner. There are Brasseries Blanc all over London and the quality may be somewhat uneven, we don't really know, but this one is top notch. Excellent house wines accompanied a meal of Continental fare that was not fancy but was well prepared and quite good.

Raymond Blanc certainly knows how to deliver superb food with style and panache. This place is a tribute to the French tradition and values, set in the heart of a city where you might struggle to find anything of comparable value overall.Exciting decoration evokes the spirit of La Belle Époque and provides the perfect background for a leisurely meal.Inspired menus and authentic, friendly staff combine to ensure many happy returns.

We booked a table here during the World Cup as the company was advertising big screen coverage in some restaurant sites and some of us were very keen to see the match whilst others wanted a good, French meal. When we arrived the TV setup was not working but staff here went out of the way to help us, making numerous phone calls to find us a nearby branch with a working TV and to book us a table there. Met up with the "Ladies that Lunch" for a birthday celebration lunch and the birthday girl decided on Brasserie Blanc, we've been on two other occasions for lunch but never on a Friday. It was very busy full with city diners and service suffered and was slower than usual but today that wasn't an issue as I had the afternoon off. A very good vibe and buzz in the restaurant. I ordered scallops for starters which were gorgeous however my friend who also ordered scallops both agreed they could have been hotter, maybe our friends cheese soufle took longer than planned to cook. I do like my food hot as I'm a slow eater which doesn't help so my food needs to be served hot. Felt I had to rush my starter due to the temperature of the food.My main course was much better temperature wise, I order Lamb Sweetbreads which was very flavoursome accompanied by mash potatoes and spring vegetables. My desert was exotic fruit cocktail with mango sorbet, coconut meringue and coconut macaroon this dish was very light tasty and refreshing, thoroughly enjoyed clearing my plate. All was washed down with some lovely white wine, great company, good food and lively ambience. Service was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed my lunch, cleared my plates and was a satisfied diner.

i visit BB St Paul's quite often because the staff are friendly, the location is central, airy and light whilst the food never disappoints. The fillet steak is the business, always succulent and done to perfection. The Mama Blanc salad is also a favourite, six salads served in segments on a circular plate, very smartly done. The only catch is the price, it can be good value, but hit the steak button and its £30 for the main. That aside, this is a lovely restaurant, for clients and friends alike.

First time to this particular outlet of RB's and the winning formula continues. Menu very French and our starters of moules and salmon tartare didn't disappoint. Mains of boeff bourgignon and cod fillet were both very tasty although we didn't need the sides. All washed down with a nice bottle of Picpoul at £22 was very reasonable. Service was attentive and friendly throughout and being a Friday it was quite busy although it's a large space to fill.

I went here for Christmas lunch with work colleagues. We ordered from the a la carte menu rather than the Christmas set menu as my colleagues preferred to have more choice. I was really pleased as it gave me the chance to try steak tartar: a dish made of chopped raw steak, mixed with onion and seasoned, and served in a round patty with a raw egg yolk on top. I've wanted to try it for years as I love rare meat but was always too nervous to order it when I wasn't sure if I would like it. Because it was available as a starter, and I could have something I knew I would like for the main course, plus the fact that I wasn't paying, I decided to give it a go. For my main course I had pan-fried Atlantic cod fillet with prawn potatoes and prawn butter. We all decided to have a dessert and one younger colleague was intrigued by the idea of a baked Alaska as she had never heard of it. That particular dessert is made for two to share, so we decided to have it.My verdict on the steak tartar: really tasty, and it didn't actually feel that much like eating raw meat - more like very rare hamburger. It came with some sourdough bread, or if you have it as a main course it comes with fries. My main course was very nice but not that filling - the prawn potato was a small amount of crushed potatoes with a few pieces of prawn mixed in if I recall correctly. My colleagues all enjoyed their food immensely. The baked Alaska was nice but nothing special, with just vanilla ice cream inside the meringue, but it was done 'properly' i.e. doused with alcohol and set on fire as it reached our table, which was fun!The service was very good, our French waitress knew her way around the wine list and was able to make good recommendations. It is pretty expensive for a chain (but obviously a lot cheaper than Raymond Blanc's other restaurants) - the steak tartar was £9.90 as a starter and my fish main course was £17.40, which I thought was quite a lot for what it was. It was very nice though.

Went to Brasserie Blanc with a group of 16 colleagues for a our work Christmas lunch and it sapped all the Xmas spirit out of us.THE ATMOSPHERE left much to be desired. The restaurant was clearly filled far beyond normal capacity with Xmas business lunches, so we had to edge our way through the hustle and bustle and squeeze ourselves into our seats that were back to back with the seats of the group sitting on the make-shift table behind us. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say they had used picnic tables to increase capacity. THE SERVICE we experienced was cordial, prompt and friendly - albeit rushed and frantic due to the excessive amount of tables the waiting staff had to get around. Though, evidently they had been instructed to ensure customers bought as much wine as possible, we only needed to take 2 sips from our glass and they'd be over filling our large wine glasses to near brimming point. The system for assigning us our food was by reading the dish labels hand-written on each of our table cards; the person who wrote the labels really should have communicated with the staff as to what meals their abbreviations were referring to.THE FOOD was distinctly average. My starter was the Jervaulx blue cheese, chicory and apple salad that consisted off some simple greenery and a few crumbs of stilton, very disappointing for seemingly up-marketing restaurant - I wanted a cheese salad, not a cheese-flavoured salad. My main was slow cooked Cornish beef in red wine with mash, a tender yet flavourless piece of meat with a mouthful of mash on the side - this unfortunately was the highlight of the whole experience. Laughably, we were given 3 tiny dishes of potatoes and sprouts for the table, which worked our to be about one of each per person. Finally my pudding, a delectable and mouth-watering slice of Christmas pudding with a dollop of mild brandy butter; I could have eaten the whole pudding. Unfortunately I was able to polish off my desert with just two small mouthfuls. They were so close to redeeming themselves! THE VALUE for money was shocking. We paid £60 per head (no drinks included). Taking into account inflated prices expected at Xmas, based on the food and service alone I would value the meal at £25 per head. This is of course disregarding the unpleasant parts of the experience, that would have left us still disappointed even if we had paid less than half than what we paid.TL;DR - Expensive, average quality food and very small portions. Felt like a soup kitchen with elaborate surroundings.

Xmas lunch for a department of 25 ruined by the worst service and lowest quality food. I delayed posting my review as I was so annoyed by the utter contempt in which we were held by the staff that I wanted to give the Brasserie Blanc management team a chance to respond. It would seem that the contempt for their customers is also echoed at the management level as I have not got a reply, almost a week after the lunch. In summary, the food was tepid at best, without taste. Almost a blessing for the portions that would not have fed a child. As for the service, in excess of 1 hour until the starters were served, drinks that were asked for, that did not arrive. Staff being constantly chased for the basics – milk for the coffee and then be given a look that would chill the tasteless food if it were not already cold. Staff seemed more concerned with setting up the tables for the evening sitting than serving their current cliental. To top it all off, the service charge was a discretionary £200, when asked to remove because of the poor service it became abusive and aggressive.

We booked a table for 23 people for our departmental ( large insurance company) xmas meal. Waited an hour for our starters.tiny portion, lacked flavour and could have been made/prepared by anyone. Certainly not by a restaurant branded by a well known chef! The waitressess/waiters lacked any personality and failed to smile throughout service. The head waitress spent most of her time snatching plates from other waitressess/waiters and swapping over food served to the wrong person. She actually clipped the side of my head when serving me without any apology! The turkey dinner was a farce. Two slices in the middle of the plate with a few cubes of rock hard carrot and celery round the edge and a drizzle of sauce? All sat waiting for the roast potatoes and veg (meat going cold) and eventually they served up approx 6 cereal bowl size portions of new potatoes and 6 bowls of brussells. So the people on one side tucked in until we realised was for all 23 people!!!!! I had one tiny new potatoe and 2 brussells. The brussells were so hard my colleague next to me ended up with some of his food on his shirt and trousers after unsuccessfully trying.to cut a brussell in half. I complained andc was told she would speak to manager. Which I saw her do only to get the evil eye and no apology. Desert was cheese board with no crackers! Asked for some crackers to go with the cheese and was told dont do crackers! However they offerred me some hard bread instead! At 40 a head they should be ashamed to dish this meal up.i wouldnt pay a tenner for the whole meal. Flying by the seat of their pants living off a name that cant even live up to expectations. I suggest the boss man takes a visit to see what they are dishing up to their clients and send their staff on a customer service course. Would never go again.

First visit to a brasserie blanc, and the first impressions were good. Nice rich and warm atmosphere very welcome on a rainy cold early winters day that it was. Good looking menus and including one for food allergies. Nice wine list of which a Viognier and Pinot noir both French very good.My autumn vegetable risotto was if I'm honest was slightly disappointing for me as it has a deep sweet flavour. Hard to explain but not sweet pea rather dark caramel sweet. My main of rabbit and mustard al la creme was very good with all the tell tale signs of Raymond's influence, ie all the elements were distinct and precise in terms of flavour with the celery al dente. The rabbit it's self was perfection totally tender and subtlety delicious. Dessert of chocolate soufflé very fine indeed. My dining companions reported they were happy with their picks, we will revisit I'm sure. So in summery you won't go far wrong dining here, and a very fair price for the city is an added bonus.

If a restaurant is busy, it (usually) means it is good. Despite a near full house, service was attentive and the food was not compromised. Brasserie Blanc is perfect for a business lunch: 1) A large and varied menu, meaning there will be something for all (hopefully) and; 2) efficient service meaning you could (if you so desired) be in and out within the hour. While this restaurant may not set the world on fire, I will undoubtedly be back again for the Onglet 8oz - Free-range Cornish hanger steak, harissa butter (well worth 15 quid). That said, the starter I had was spectacular – the mussels and cod special. Finally, I can now respond with confidence to ‘Know anywhere good for lunch’?

Most restaurants offer early diner offers which, although reduced price, tempt offer hunters with the same fare as full price and the same service. NOT brasserie Blanc.I ordered the Steak frites offer. The staff didn't ask how we wanted the steak, and when it came, it was the smallest steak I have ever been served. It was roughly the size of a mars bar. Dreadful. Had I been paying the full price, I would have returned it. Its lucky I like my steak Med rare. After we ate, we went on to eat elsewhere shortly after, as it was soooooo poor, and we left hungry. It was no wonder there was only 10 ish diners in the place. Its such a shame. What i did have ( 4 mouthfulls) was lovely. The other shame is that these offers have a dual purpose. 1. 'offer priced' full portion food which is good value, and2. tempts diners to return on another date to sample the full menu. This failed on both points. I got what I paid for, and i am definitely not tempted to return. If they are tight on offers, they are tight on everything.

Having enjoyed the first one for lunch we decided to give this one a go for dinner and again we were not disappointed. The service at both has ben excellent. They must have a very good training programme. The menu is exactly the same but as everything we've had has been excellent that doesn't matter. The setting here is very nice. It would be ideal for a posh meal out, say an anniversary or just when you feel like dressing up. However, if you just happen to stumble across it like we did in jeans then don't let that put you off, you'll be treated just the same. Well done keep it up.

We booked a table for 11 and had three courses at Brasserie Blanc this week; the experience was average, as the service was decent, but there were a few issues with the food that didn't lend itself to the prices we were paying and certainly not up to the high quality I've been used to with Raymond Blanc eateries in the past. The service timings were spot on; we received our drinks, bread and olives speedily; the starters, mains and desserts courses all came out together and were served at a good temperature for each dish, however, we had one starter that was incorrect and the waitress tried to tell at least 3 of the group that they'd ordered it, before finally admitting defeat and acknowledging she had made the mistake; the replacement starter was, thankfully, a charcuterie board and so was served in under 5 minutes. The mains were well presented although my fillet steak (£29) was well over-seasoned and the steak had obviously not rested long enough as the juices came pouring out and dribbled off the edge of the wooden board it was served on. For dessert, many of us had the cherry almond tart served with creme anglaise, however, the dribble of creme anglaise served with it only lasted for half of the tart... that said, the waitress was very good and did fetch some more from the kitchen for us to share. The cherries were obviously made fresh as I nearly broke a tooth on a cherry stone; thankfully I didn't and enjoyed the rest of my dessert. All in all, a pleasant experience, but for the "Blanc" prices being asked to paid, the quality of the food and service really does need to be increased.

Easy location for the City and FT journalists so tend to use this one quite often. The food and service are both pretty consistently good with a standard menu and often some nice specials but surprisingly most people rave about this place for the fab french fries, small and crunchy! Try asking for a booth table for extra privacy and it makes an excellent business location with lots of space for a laptop on the table if needed and good courteous staff in a clean and well presented environment.

Always rated M. Blanc's talents as a top Chef. Fell upon this place for lunch while waiting to go to the Globe. Service was immaculate, the lighting was clever allowing old folk like us to read the menu at the table while maintaining a subdued atmosphere away from the table. I started with "salade de Maman Blanc"-basically an assiette de crudites familiar to anyone who has traveled in France served according to M. Blanc's mother.Followed with a fabulous sirloin, sauce bearnaise and frites. M. Blanc was in the restaurant at the time and diligently came round all the tables after service asking for comments.

Ate here last week with a friend on his recommendation and was pleasantly surprised. We both chose from the set menu, which offers very good value and this was further enhanced by the offer they have on a glass of house wine to accompany the meal. we both started with the Butterhead Salad (very good) and followed with the onglet steak and slow braised provencal beef (also both good). The wine was good enough for us both to ask for a second glass, and the first two courses left just enough room for pudding - Hot chocolate mousse, pistachio ice cream - definitely worth making room for! Service was relaxed and although a little slow it wasn't a problem as we'd come to the restuarant to relax and catch-up. Ambience enrourages diners to linger and enjoy the meai. Will definitely return.

2nd meal this week at the same restaurant but today the lamb was horrible, over cooking lamb is not a good thing. Cremating it is a sin! Majority of staff have no clue about wine or service. Shame they let themselves down.

After a long day at the office, the OH & I needed a quick & tasty place for dinner near St Pauls. It was a toss-up between Brasserie Blanc & Bread St Kitchen – and Raymond won. At first, I thought we stumbled into a rehearsal of ‘ello ‘ello, with the accent of the waiting staff sounding unusual. We shared Maman Blanc’s salad starter. It came with beetroot! Eeuuwww! But….it was truly delicious with little pockets of carrot remoulade & celery in some sort of dressing. It converted both me and the OH to this maligned vegetable. The stuffed chicken leg was ok – I would have preferred the skin crispy. The OH demolished his lamb kidneys & mash and pronounced them delectable. Finally the dessert was a pistachio soufflé. I thought it a tad underdone, but the OH assured me all soufflés should be like this. I’m still not convinced. The choc ice cream was lovely. All in all, good food at fairly reasonable prices (for London).I want to try another branch now.

Place does everything well and offers some good options. Prices are not bad for London and reasonable for the St Paul area. I would go back to this place.

We ate from the set menu available all day mon-fri. Make sure you ask for this menu as although it is on it was not offered to us with the other menu. The food was ok though somewhat uninspiring and had it been full price I would have been very disappointed. It cost less than £17 each for a three courses meal and when ordering from this menu you could avail of a glass of house wine for £2.50.With all this in mind it is difficult to be to harsh.

Very nice French style brasserie with delicious classic French dishes - the hot smoked salmon and the beef bourguignon and the chicken stuffed with prunes were delicious. Portion sizes are a little small though - but the the only negative comment...

I visited here at lunch time and had the swiss chard and gruyere gratin, fricassee of mushrooms and a poached egg. It sounds like an odd combination but it was actually a perfect choice for lunch and really delicious. What makes this place aside from just the food is the amazing decor. I'll be back! I thought the prices were quite reasonable and the service attentive.

Food excellent - restaurant a little quiet but put this down to the time of year - Jan - I would imagine experience would be greater had the restaurant been busier as it would add to the atmosphere

We had a business meal here and the prices were lower than in other restaurants in the same area, The food is fine, although not extraordinary. The service is also ok, simple and efficient. Overall it's a place I would go back to.

The best thing that this restaurant has going for it is the price and location (just behind One New Change shopping centre, nearest tube station is either Cannon St or St Paul). A 2 course prix fixe menue costs less than 15 pounds. Add 1.95 pounds for a generous glass of wine. On to the food. Menu has most of the standards you would expect to find in a bistro - Boeuf Bourginon, Cassoulet, steak tartare, moules, escargot. Prices for starters generally are below 8 pounds. Prices for mains start about 11 pounds. We tried the roasted pork belly with baked apple, the crackling was tough, rubbery and hardly crackling. Steak tartare required a lot of additional seasoning. Boeuf bourginon and mussels were well executed. Service was generally prompt. Overall, a dependable option when dining in the city but not quite a destination restaurant. Our expectations were perhaps skewed towards the high side given the Brasserie's association with Raymond Blanc.

Visited Brasserie Blanc Tuesday 11th Dec, lovely Christmasy area, limited decorations etc in restaurant. Arrived with two friends after a shopping trip stayed for hours, great service, food very good, all happy with our choices, staff did not rush us out, far from it. £50 each 3 courses, 2 bottles of wine, lovely

Attended a function there last Friday and though the ambience was good and it was possible to park outside after 7pm, the food was of poor quality and the service slow and grumpy. Though I had pre ordered, a table placement with my name indicated i was having two different courses. When I asked if I could have what I had pre ordered, a rather miserable woman said that was not possible and walked off. I can't believe Raymond Blanc has ever been there.

Raymond Blanc has pulled off quite a coup - a Paris bistro outside Paris. It has the ambience of the best corner bistro but with just exceptional service and staff. The food is good, wholesome, well cooked bistro fare with the odd delicious British twist (like lemon sponge pudding). The Menu de Jour at £17.00 for 3 courses is good news. Even better, an accompanying glass of wine is only £1.95. Spot on.

We always had good experiences of Brasserie Blanc. But tonight we tried St Paul'Brasserie and it was a disaster : nearly empty, we seted and were told they had no lamb dishes so the menu was already very limited. The starters were served less than 2 minutes after ordering and were very average. When our main courses arrived, again very soon after our starter, my roquefort sauce had no trace of roquefort in it, the sirloin was ok. I asked for potatoes to avoid french fries, but was soon told they had none left and that I could chose between mash or fries. I went or the fries and not surprisingly they were clearly frozen fries, not better than in fast foods. My husband went or the boeuf stroganoff, which was clealy just heated up in the micro wave. we had a glance at the dessert menu, but after a good laugh at the mispelling and translation of the "lemon savarin" which was "pooding au citron", we decided to stop our bad experience there. The staff was ok but the service is much to quick which comforted our belief that the food is not fresh. Before leaving we read the poem from Jean de la Fontaine, which, like all French people we had learnt at school, poem which was written on the wall, and again : several mispellings ! We left disappointed by this restaurant.

Our first day in London in 20 years! My wife and I had been out and about in the city with our two teenage children since the morning, our shopping bags were full, our feet were getting tired, our mood was changing. Then we stumbled into this Pret branch on Argyle Street: Without any particular expectations and quite annoyed, I reached into the refrigerated section for a ham & cheese sandwich, chicken shawarma, chicken avocado and carrot cake. Cold drinks too. I actually just wanted to pay at the counter and leave. Then I couldn't decide on a coffee so quickly... The manager and his employee noticed that we all needed a break. They were super relaxed, mega friendly, and offered us an extra tea. So we went upstairs to the pleasantly bright lounge with a relaxed atmosphere and enjoyed our first delicious "picnic" in London for half an hour. If there were more good hosts like this in London, the city would get more than 5 stars from us tourists!

The Elan cafe is a nice place to have a quick drink or small cakes with friends, however it is a bit smaller compared to the others. but the scenery is lovely and pretty.
