Sunday lunch was delicious.. two courses very reasonably priced.. the place was very busy, yet we didn't wait too long for our food.. it was our grand daughter's birthday and she loved it...

Good location for cyclists but beer a bit pricey and the outside area not easily accessed from path.

I've been a very happy customer of Branzino for quite some time and always been very happy. I consider it my local goto restaurant. Had it as an easy 5 star. Great staff and great food. However my latest visit was absolutely atrocious. Inexperienced, rude and utterly useless staff. Seemed to be struggling with how busy it was although there were still many empty tables. Totally out of their depth. Then there is the food. Pizza base used to be perfect. Now it has the consistency of an Aldi partly cooked baguette. Bland food badly executed. Only the pleasant location prevents it from being a zero score. Very disappointed as its my local restaurant...... Well thought I'd try it one more time. Pizza and service very average at best. Which is an improvement. But ripped me a couple of quid when paying cash. Shame.

It was a nice place to stop for a drink with a picturesque terrace whilst walking Hadrians Wall path

We called here on our first day of walking Hadrians Path for a quick drink. We spoke to the manager who kindly let us leave our bags whilst we carried on to Heddon-on-the-wall. So we then booked a table to eat there later that evening. The food was absolutely amazing! All three of us had the early bird menu and each dish was superb. The manager and staff were brilliant, he even sent me the CCTV footage of when I fell off the bench outside 😂😂😂. Highly recommended. You won’t be disappointed.

We come almost every week, always first class food and service infact they go above and beyond (running out to get my daughter tomato ketchup for her sunday lunch) recommend on every level

Went here tonight for a date night with the wife. We'd never been before but were hopeful. Thank goodness we came, it was absolutely delicious food with attentive service but not in your face which is great. Will definitely be going back 👍🏻

Best Italians in the area, always have a great meal and staff always happy to help and attentive. Great seating area outside with views of the river too. The specials are also great value and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Ordered a vegetarian Sunday lunch (there wasn't any veggie option on the menu) so they offered me a meat-free lunch which is great for me. Turned up as a side plate of boiled, bland, unseasoned veg (total 1.5 baby new potatoes) with one Yorkshire and no gravy, not even an accompanying sauce or butter so really dry. Partner chose the chicken and her plate was huge, with roasties and mash and gravy. Service basically nonexistent. Understaffed, and the place was only half full. Unpleasantly loud. Typical Italian-style only lager selection. Just reinforces my previous experiences, never go to an Italian restaurant for Sunday lunch! Update: Had to come back for a family meal (not Sunday lunch). Sadly I can't review the place twice. Fortunately though, the two guys running the place tonight are in a right mood, and feels like we're not welcome. So it's an easy 1*. Review updated.

Previously The Boathouse Inn, this just isn't the same since it was renamed and repurposed into an Italian restaurant. 🫤 This location was brilliant for a traditional pub. Cyclists and hikers new well as a rest stop along Route 72. Most people I chat too wish it was still a proper pub rather than a restaurant. Anyway, they still let us have a couple of pints (without ordering food). They had Birra Moretti on tap and it tasted well looked after. But it's definitely lost it's "canny pub" feel, and we waited AGES for both rounds to arrive at our table. Still... it's a lovely little location, so we'll still pop by for the odd pint in passing on our bikes. Bring back The Boathouse Inn!

Frequently go here however this experience was not my favourite. The ravioli and napoli pasta lacked flavour, one employee questioned a request from us on a sauce, there wasn't enough glasses for all of us to have water, portion sizes reduced a lot. A shame but this has put me off coming back.

Great Sunday lunch there to celebrate father in laws 94th Birthday. They made such a fuss of them brilliant all round.

Pleasant enough place and decent prices with good service. Only complaint would be the centre of my pizza on both times I've had pizza have been a little on the soft side but it might be down to Bolognese sauce. Trying a different type next time.

Lovely food and I used to love visiting here but last October went on a Sunday and staff were rude My daughter had originally booked for more of us to go and she let them know that less of us would be going! We arrived to be treat in a surly manner ; the waiter wasn't happy less of us came ( even though my daughter had told them, not her fault they didn't pick up messages) he then said we had to sit at another table and his attitude spoilt our meal ! I emailed to complain and didn't even get a reply so unfortunately we won't return ! Pity as good food etc nice little place ! Never mind plenty other Lovely places to eat ! I've often thought about this since it happened , glad I've found the place on Google to leave a review ! Not nice to treat people like that even if you 'are' having a bad day !

The staff are amazing very helpful the food is amazing and extremely fresh well worth a try. Hugo is very friendly.

Although the food was ok, the service was not acceptable. Barely finished the last mouthful of food when the bill was unceremoniously placed on the table and we were informed they needed our table in 3 minutes. No pleasantries at all. Would not return!

Really bad customer service here today. Table booked for 2pm. Sat us down at 2.35pm. Food ordered around 2.55pm. 3.35 still waiting. Spoke to Manager who said food was coming. Less than 5 mins later waitress who took our order came to table with a smirk on her face and said she had "lost the check" and had just found it 5 mins ago! She did apologise for losing it, however, all of this while she just smirked at us! We left without paying for our drinks for which the Manager said it was "ok". Had to give one star to be able to leave a review otherwise I would not give them any stars at all....

Service and staff 10/10 , friendly, helpful, efficient. Food excellent, quality and presentation spot on. Cosy interior. Give it a visit you wont be disappointed.

So today was our sons 21st birthday and my wife had pre booked a table for seven of us at this restaurant. Upon arrival the restaurant was very busy and there was some sort of rowing event happening on the river too which may have contributed, However our table was not ready for the allotted time and we were asked to wait and have a drink at the bar. There was little room to do this i opted to leave and wait outside until the table was ready so did three other of our group. Fifteen minutes later it was ready. Ordering our food was a simple enough and the staff were friendly enough too so no real issue there thank you. Our food came promptly - starters first and mostly enjoyable. I had the Gamberoni - Tiger prawns in garlic butter and chilli sauce however the sauce was a bit lack lustre - where was the chilli?. My wife asked me what it was like and i had to say not sure didn't really rate it it was just - a sauce. Others had potato skins - which are always ok and my 14 year old enjoyed his Calamari.The other issue was the garlic bread we ordered for our thirteen year old. It was burnt - this overpowered the entire flavour of the garlic bread he couldn't eat it only managing bits of two slices - this spoiled his experience as he was looking forward to it. A word to a member of the staff and they said it would be removed from the bill, We had finished our starters so there was no offer of a replacement for him. The mains, As far as aware everyone seemed to enjoy their pasta dishes and pizza they had ordered. Myself and my 14 year old had Chargrilled surf and turf and asked for it medium rare - it was not!!! - more medium /well done. making it a little chewy. The sauce that came with it was the same sauce that was on my starter yet was supposed to be different - not including the chilli ingredient, yet my first sauce didn't either yet but was supposed to have. We took a vote and did not order dessert. My wife also commented that she could smell burnt yorkshires and indeed there was a couple next to us and their yorkshires on their sunday lunch were burnt too. We paid our bill and left a tip as the service was good however the food today could've been a lot better and missed the mark. sorry Branzino.

Quite disappointed, potatoe skins well an truly over cooked and greasy, pizza - the base was heavy and baguette like, nothing like they used to be, light and crispy. Service could have been a lot better. Such a shame, visited many times and was alway a 5 star. Edit.... Nov 23.. Decided to try again.. Had a lovely meal. Great improvement on Pizzas. And excellent service from staff. Changed star rating to 4

Stumbled across this lovely little place whilst out for a walk and only went in for a coffee, however ended up having a cheeky pasta dish for lunch. Absolutely delicious food and great service. Would definitely recommend it.

My sister and I wanted to arrange a surprise family meal for my Mum for her retirement. We visited the restaurant to enquire whether it would be possibly to arrange a meal for 16 adults and 2 children, along with a small space to decorate with balloons banners etc which they said was no problem. Upon arrival, the staff had set out a fantastic space for us all. We were able to set up 30mins in advance for my Mum coming too which was perfect! Considering our group was a little chaotic due to 2 newborns and 2 small children, the staff were absolutely outstanding in dealing with us all. To avoid difficulties with the bill, we were all able to order our drinks separately to the food bill which was a massive help throughout. Considering the restaurant was fully booked, everyone’s starters and mains came out within a more than reasonable timescale and the food itself was delicious! Everyone ordered a mix of things from the menu such as pizzas, chicken dishes, steaks and fish and everyone’s plates were polished off. I personally had a pizza which was one of the nicest pizzas I’ve had in a very long time. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for everyone’s efforts in delivering such a fantastic evening. Every member of staff was brilliant and compliments to the chefs for delivering such tasty food for everyone! We had a brilliant night with loved ones and wonderful food and will most definitely return.

My pizza was hard to cut through felt it was burnt on the bottom, service was good but food average

Food was lovely for the price, salt was wet in packets so couldn't be used but the staff were the most rude I've ever came across. The man who served me said I could order outside but inside are a priority so 'don't complain to me when it takes long'. Unbelievable to say to a customer.

Couldn't fault this place. Lovely setting, cosy interior, and not too busy for a weekday evening meal out. Attentive staff, lovely food, and full tummies! No complaints from us, and no doubt we will call back another time.

I've been to branzinos a few times, always had no e meals and good service,however after this evening I will never go back,the food was terrible,there was nine of us ,not one of us enjoyed it,three different tables around us also complained ,the man who served us was miserable and kept rolling his eyes ,the young waitresses were pleasant enough,they tried there best but they were rushed off there feet ,we waited twenty minutes for our drink order ,hour and a half for food ,no apologies,we were never once asked if everything was ok,I had recommended this place to a couple of our friends,quite frankly who ever is in there kitchen needs cooking lessons,even chips were raw in the middle

1st time at Branzino. Hadn't booked but they seated us at a table, while we were looking at the menu they asked us to move tables as they had a reservation for the table they sat us at!. Food was fine but service was slow.

Very attentive waitress . 8 of us and all enjoyed meals at good price , good portion size , loved the cheesy garlic bread, others said prawns fabulous, steak great value and cooked well. Over all good dinning experience for all ages . One of our party has disabilities and normally struggles in dinning experiences, but she was so happy with her food it made a massive difference for all of us! as no issues and we we're all able to relax as she was relaxed. Very relaxed atmosphere which made a massive difference for her being able to feel relaxed and enjoy it . Which in turn gave us a great dinning experience. Thank you we will be back . Much appreciated.

Asked for a table for two, wasn’t offered an outside table on a really hot day, and it didn’t look too busy. We were left sitting for ages before a waiter asked us for drinks so we ordered food at the same time and sat a while waiting for drinks. Finally they came, ages later the starters came and the cheesy garlic bread was literally dripping with grease (see photos). Waited so much longer for mains then they finally bring us 2 bolognese pasta dishes which wasn’t what we ordered! Had to wait a while at the bar to complain as they just drop food off and leave, they just said oh it’s a mistake, no apology or telling us what was happening so we waited longer and finally they brought the right dishes, and it was very disappointing. A ‘creamy tomato sauce’ was really watery (see photos) and the meal just had no flavour. Hugely disappointing and we were sweating buckets in a really hot restaurant with no air conditioning with flies bothering us. So after almost 2 hours we had to cancel some plans we had as it was too late. Overall, shocking service, terrible food and we only ordered some starters and a couple pasta dishes! Would have been so much nicer to sit outside and not have to wait forever. Don’t waste your time going here! They won’t offer you anything to compensate for when they mess up, not even an apology! Give your money and time to people who deserve it instead and you’ll have a much nicer night!

Love this place, but not the chaos created by the rowing club car park spilling over and using all available parking including Branzino's.

Very enjoyable lunch we had here on a Sunny Sunday on the River. Food was extremely good, service was spot on. Definitely will go again.

Tremendous mixed seafood risotto with garlic (again), super portion, value for money and piping hot. Special mention for waiter/manager Hugo, also another waiter, for their service and friendliness. Fab interior and outdoor seating right alongside the River Tyne, Newburn. Great views up the shimmering river also. Recommend.

Booked a table for 5 for 4.30pm , we get there on time bearing in mind there was nobody there at that time and was told by the barman to sit in one particular place and when asked if we could sit somewhere a Little more comfortable rather than the corner of the restaurant , his answer was no we have a party tonight so that’s the only table ! Lazy arrogant sprang to mind left and took our business elsewhere shame how they be person’s attitude can ruin it for the whole business.

Lunchtime menu was not only a good selection, great quality but the portion sizes were generous. Soup of the day ( pancetta and vegetable) was tasty, the fish cake starter was actually 2 good sized fishcakes. We'll be back ☺️

I went here with a friend yesterday evening for the first time and was super Impressed, staff were very friendly and restaurant is very nicely decorated. We had the 3 course special which was available until 6.30pm (around £15) I had the chilli chicken risotto which was the nicest risotto I have ever had, we will definitely be back!
