Great way to escape to another time in this old watering house. Newcastle United paraphernalia is the mainstay of decoration for obvious reasons, but the pub is still old school for an area that is modernising. Fun fact: apparently it was so named for the strawberry plantations that used to be near it. Nuns from the local convent use to grow strawberries for strawberry wine...

First time in there in 30 years absolutely fabulous great drinks, courtney behind the bar was charming and most obliging, and very friendly, will be going back for shure very soon

I was at the Strawberry for the final. The bar staff managed the constant flow of triumphant Lads and Lasses attending the bar as impeccably as Howe managed the squad! Massive thanks to all the team for ensuring glasses were full and spirits high!

I Loved this pub, while I poo in my jeans, because of a change in my kidney meds, gave me skin cancer, but the new ones causing me too poo, THANK YOU - we did it, can you thank all who served me, Caroline and Michael, WE DID IT!

Popped in today for the first time ever had a bottle of Budweiser staff where really friendly will definitely be popping back in the future

Standing in the shadow of The Cathedral on the hill is the equally sacred and iconic pub, The Strawberry. The staff are excellent and on matchdays I'm so impressed how service is so efficient to serve the thirst of the Toon army. It's kept true to tradition and not given way to the cookie cutter modern bars, which ensure for a great atmosphere. NUFC memorabilia adorn the walls, to ensure you know where you are. heaven

Honestly stayed hours in here tonight! Went to the stack and it was awful so came back and we've had an amazing girls night! Lauren has been absolutely amazing! Definitely the hostess with the mostest! She's been fantastic, can't sing her praises enough! Thanks for a wicked night 💕💕

A fantastic bar good beer. It is always busy on match days but there's plenty of staff so getting served is not a problem when you eventually get to the bar

I visited this pub as an away fan for the Bromley game. We were wearing our Bromley shirts and mixing with the Newcastle fans. We all bonded watching Tottenham struggling to score against Tamworth. It was great. I was blown away by the hospitality and friendly atmosphere created by the Newcastle fans. There aren't many grounds you can go to and experience this. I've also got to give a massive shoutout to the bar staff. Despite not being able to move in there the service was excellent. It's how football should be.

Been in a few times as a away fan (middlesbrough) & just for the occasional pint when the wife wants to go shopping in Newcastle. Incredibly friendly pub & always been made to feel welcome (even on match days as 'opposition'). The Guinness is very good in here. Alot more welcoming than any pub in s*****land!

This place gets packed on match days. Glad they make sure they have loads of staff to keep up with the demand.

Busy as usual but it's nearly Xmas. Good choice of beers, fairly quick service, a Geordie icon well worth a visit.

Finally I plucked up the courage to step over the threshold onto the hallowed ground of The Strawberry. It was my birthday when I went in there and I was determined to make the most of it but for the few while I spent looking around and imagining all the legendary names that had also set foot in there and that reinforced my belief that this wasn't just a normal pub this is as iconic as St James' Park itself. Got chatting to a couple of friendly locals which was nice as I'm not usually that sociable as back home I don't go out to pubs on my own but I felt it was a case of When in Rome and I threw myself into having a laugh and a chat and sampling the local ale one in particular being called Wor Beer or something like that which wasn't my usual taste but I do like to sample local food and drinks when I visit somewhere. Thankyou to the bar staff and the awesome couple sat near the bar who I had a laugh with you guys absolutely made my birthday very special. The Strawberry physically might be a small building but the fact is it's a giant on the local landscape and a very important part of geordie life.

Great place to watch sports TV. Really nice bar staff. Friendly regulars.

Visited to watch an away match with the crowds and the atmosphere were amazing, friendly people (even if some were highly intoxicated and got thrown out). The bar staff were fast but the service I had was very poor, rolling eyes having asked for a 2nd drink, ITS NOT MY FAULT YOU CAN'T HEAR ME AND WALKED OFF AFTER I SAID THE FIRST DRINK. Instead of just totalling up and shoving the card machine in my face, how about asking if there is anything else I would like before you complete the transaction. Basic customer service skills which the women didn't seem to have. Saying that, they were swift to exit those who were becoming out of control and in all, had a great time there.

Traditional English pub within sight of St James' Park and full of Newcastle United memorabilia. Good plain fare. Good value. Good range of ales and efficient friendly staff. One of Newcastle's finest.

Absolutely quality pub. Snuck away from a conference over the road for a decent drink and ended up staying well past closing, didn't give me that much grief for being a mackem either, the appropriate amount I'd say. They've also got a pinball machine!

The food really is nice I've had few from the menu so far and I havnt been disappointed yet. Generous portion size at affordable prices and the drinks nice also. Don't come here often enough. Excellent service from bar staff. Pint of draught hieneken zero alcohol beer at £4.50 was excellent.

Went for a visit on match day last Sat (3 Feb), couldn’t get tickets, this was next best thing. Can hear the crowd from the upstairs terrace. Pity it was a draw.

Great bar at the foot of St James's Park, exceptionally good looking staff members, not a lot of people in, I found it to be on the xpensive side, so only stayed for 2 pints, it was clean, new tiles at the foot of the bar area, pool table, juke box and a slot machine are available to use. Toilets were of good standard overall good.

Really gorgeous food polite staff and customers are always happy well respected for staff I'm happy I found it. It's only 1 or 2 times a year I go because I don't live in Newcastle

Brilliant function Room upstairs, just the right size for a decent gathering of people. We thoroughly enjoyed our night for my Dad's retirement party, drinks were a very fair price and the platter was great. Highly reccomend booking The Strawberry for a party or even just popping in for a pint or two 👌👌

Great wee pub, close to Newcastle United's ground. Must be brilliant before home matches. Brilliant toon memorabilia on wall. Even had a programme on the wall of Alan shearer's testimonial, went to that game from Glasgow. Best home support in England. Away the lads.

Nice pub for some pints, especially the pub to visit on match day. There is a real English atmosphere here. We stayed here until 2.5 hours before the match because of a package deal at the stadium.

Such an iconic bar, I've been going for many years now, always a great atmosphere be it match days or just a quiet midweek drink, staff are genuinely welcoming and friendly. Anyone visiting Newcastle, especially with an interest in football, this place is a must go just to see the memorabilia alone, great beers on draught, and they do a crackin' homemade chicken curry if you're peckish - amongst other things. Right across the road from St James' Park, pool table, Jukebox, roof terrace, kids and dogs welcome too!

Nice little pub gone with other half, few drinks and few games of pool didn't have food so can't judge staff friendly polite very welcoming

What a lovely pub. Coming from London and being a football fan it's lovely to see this kind of pub with nostalgia. Popped in for a quick pint and was really mesmerised with the memorabilia and tradition.Took me longer to walk round looking at everything than to drink my pint. Very friendly staff and even gave me an "introduction" to the pub. Highly recommend.

No visit to Newcastle is complete without a visit to the Strawberry 🍓 pub, especially if you support NUFC. The Gallowgate end is a few footsteps away. I even managed to have a photo of me behind the bar. Great pub, great beers and most importantly a very friendly customer focused service. Thank you.
