Stopped by here to go on a dog walk as states dog friendly. Went in the cafe can't fault staff were friendly... but ruined by the antiques shop owner who thought it ok to swear at me my mam and sister. On leaving the cafe from the back entrance there was a bike with an old basket on placed against the fence which looked like part of the decor. I put my puppy in the basket and was verbally attacked by this beast of a man. The other people around all commented on how horrible the guy is and will also not be returning!! This guy could ruin your nice little business & they already knew he was like that before he thought it ok to swear at us.

Bradley Burn accommodated us out of the rain for our annual meet up of Border Terrier owners. We travel from south Lincolnshire each year for our Weardale "fix" and to meet with lovely like-minded folk in the north. Bradley Burn reserved a table for us and our chaotic but well-behaved canine companions. Food and drinks were good, staff were super obliging. There were doggy treats provided. Nice place, good atmosphere, reasonable food and nice staff. So why 2 stars? We began our food at 3pm, the café closes at 4pm, so why start sweeping up at 5 past 3? I am mildy asthmatic, and they have one of those dreaded air con units. It spread just a hint of the sweeping up dust around so we had to leave earlier than we intended. Should any establishment sweep floors while customers eat? I was chesty for many hours afterwards. We won't go back.

I have to admit that I do like this place it has a nice atmosphere and you go in through an antique shop so there's interesting stuff to see but my last visit was disappointing. 1. I am all for dog friendly cafes, but on the terrace not in the cafe barking loudly, up on the seats and being fed from the plate. 2. The food can be pricy and inconsistent. Soup was thin and flavourless served with a small chunk of chewy bread but still 5 pounds. It was pea and ham but the ham was all stock flavouring no evidence of any meat at all. They often have a soup listed but only a couple of portions so twice I have ordered up something only to have them come out afterwards and offer a different flavour. Folks having the breakfasts seemed to fare better in terms of quantity and quality.

Used to have an awesome farm shop, haven't been in a while but now has a weird antiques shop. I got a flat white and it's clear the woman had no idea what that was, I got what I can only describe as a coffee milkshake, it went in the bin. I can not see any reason to go here, however they are dog friendly. I didn't have my dog but I got to pet someone else's so that deserves a star

On arrival we were very warmly greeted and shown to our pitch with explanations on where everything was. Being our very first trip in our mhome, this was greatly received. Lovely pitch and had the use of a great picnic bench, sadly didn’t use due to weather. The shower / toilet / washing up facility was very clean. We decided to eat in the farm cafe and were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and the food was lovely and fresh. Great portions too. Hubby had a big chunk of home made corned beef pie which he thoroughly enjoyed. Next morning we decided to indulge again and has a beautiful fresh Full English breakfast. Very disappointing. Ordered 2 toasted sandwiches, tea and apple juice. One toasty was sent back immediately as the cheese wasn't melted, this was dealt with swiftly. Whilst eating our lunch, we were about half way through, my child discovered a piece of plastic and metal in the coleslaw, about the size of a 50p. I went inside and asked the waitress to come out to see us rather than making a fuss in front of other diners. She came out and offered us more sandwiches which we declined, it had really put us off eating their food. Which kitchen allows what transpired to be an order magnet drop into food? The manager came out and gave us a refund for one sandwich but refused to refund the whole meal as we had eaten half a sandwich each..... Poor customer service along with poor kitchen management. Certainly a change from what it used to be. Will not be going back. Check your coleslaw!!!

Rip off prices. We only popped in on our way past and ordered a muffin and a milkshake. Although the service was good and the quality was ok, the priced were a joke. The worst thing was the milkshake. A tiny glass for £6 is an absolute rip off. I have read their reply but it has not changed my mind. In fact we have visited Richmond in North Yorkshire today (a very busy tourist town with much higher overheads) and had a milkshake in a café that make their own ice cream. Two scoops in a glass twice the size of Bradley Burn Farm and it was £5. I could hardly get up the hill to the castle afterwards.

We have been twice here, and have generally enjoyed all the food. Its a lovely location and a good walk start point and the "Certificated location" makes an excellent quiet touring caravan spot, especially for an overnight to Scotland. The scampi was delicious and my wife enjoyed her quiche, but I found my quiche not sufficiently cheesy and the pastry was a bit cardboardy in texture and its taste was not great either. Given quiche is a bit of a mainstay of the menu, this could be a problem for some folk. Loved the millionaire's shortbread and the treacle and cinnamon sponge. There is also an excellent antique furniture store here and we got a lovely nest of tables nice and cheaply. So definitely a place worth visiting.

This used to be one of my favourite places. I took friends out for a treat expecting lovely food. The drinks were nice but the food was abysmal. My young friend only wanted a chip butty as the chips used to be home made and gorgeous. The chips were frozen, more like scrappy ends and very dry. The bun had no spread and was very dry. He couldn't eat it and I was annoyed until I tasted a chip which I couldn't swallow, it was so dry. We had a toastie after seeing the chips. Mine was dry and hard to eat so I left most, the salad garnish was OK. My older friend is in her 80s and only likes white toast. The only white they had was a bun so she had a very flat dry small bun with no garnish for the full price. She tried to use a knife and fork but had to pick it up. I was embarrassed at the quality. I bought her a nice looking cream cake to take away so hopefully that was OK. What a shame, why would we want to come back.

Visited for lunch in a weekday. Ordered the quiche and salad, asked for the quiche to be warmed but was cold in the middle when arrived. Staff kindly offered to reheat but must have been nuked in the microwave as it turned rubbery and the pasty not edible (but at least it was hot!). Service very quick but would have preferred to wait 5-10 min more for it to be heated in the oven. Coffee was ok and take away mint choc slice was nice and a welcome sugar whilst out walking the dales.

I love old traditional English pubs, the Royal George is certainly one of them. The landlords were lovely, very welcoming. This place is a hidden gem which we will visit again soon.

The bands who are booked at this pub are usually pretty amazing. As a big fan of live music, I can honestly say most of the bands I have seen at the Bay Horse have been rather brilliant. There is always a good atmosphere at the Horse, and the people and bar staff are really friendly. They all work very hard to keep the place going and make great choices with the bands they book. I've not really been disappointed yet and have been going there since maybe mid last year. Shame its not a bit bigger, but then it might lose some atmosphere if it was. New years day was amazing, as was boxing day. I've not had such a great time for years as last Christmas. Thanks to all the staff for making things work in the way you do. Keep up the good work.
