Over 45 mins in here and they couldn’t be bothered to clear the table from the previous customers. The tables they did clear they didn’t wipe down, food all over the floor. Over half an hour waiting for a breakfast and they wasn’t even very busy and it wasn’t value for money and poor quality. Bathrooms unhygienic also

Ok, it’s not glam, it’s not ultra modern but you can’t knock the food! It’s a small cafe in Bowthorpe and the staff are friendly and they present the food well. We pop in a few times a month and I always enjoy a panini and piece of cake. Good prices and worth a visit.

This cafe is always busy so an indication to is popularity, the food is well priced and portions fair, the seating is comfortable and staff friendly and food served promptly. The only downside is is popularity as sometimes you can't get a table. But as their breakfast is served all day that's not too much of a problem.

On Sunday 2nd April I went into Roy's Cafe and ordered an all day breakfast. I explained to the lady on the counter that I have an allergy to eggs, and was told I could substitute it for something else. I returned to the cafe on Tuesday 4th April, to have another breakfast, to find the same lady was working again, she remembered me and what I had ordered the previous time. I went to take my seat at a table which, I could see had been wiped down, and was clean. She came up to the table and offered to wipe it down, just in case there was any trace off egg left on the table from the last customers. I was very impressed with her customer service and for her awareness of how serious some allergies can be. Roys Cafe does a really good value breakfast and a great pot of tea, and also at a really good price. The staff are friendly, and the seating is comfortable.

I visited the cafe this lunchtime and after ordering the all day breakfast and a drink, sat down and within 10 minutes the food was on the table and it tasted great. Cannot fault the service - all in all a great cafe to drop into and grab some lunch.

I visited this café roughly six months ago and it was a shambles, filthy and the breakfast I was served was nothing short of appalling. Whilst shopping in the Roys supermarket opposite today (which has greatly improved under new management but that is for a different review site!) I spoke to a young assistant named Phil who advised me to try the café again as it was being run by a new manager and was much improved. I decided to give the breakfast another go and I was not disappointed! Fantastic value for the money and the bacon was cooked to perfection, not only this but the staff were friendly and engaging despite being extremely busy. To top my visit off the place was impeccably clean and this time I could actually find a folk! I don't know if I just caught them on a good day but I will be certainly returning to find out and hopefully my return visit will be just as good. If you want good food at a great price and live local to Roys café then it is worth a visit.

Came here on lunch time, was greeted with a friendly smile and hello, i placed my order which was a cheese and ham panini and a white chocolate hot chocolate. We were asked sit down and the drinks and food would be brought over to us. The drinks arrived about 5 minutes later which was very nice and creamy. Then our food came the panini came with crisps and side salad, the food was amazing and very big so was well worth the money. Overall and excellent visit and will be returning.

I fancied a breakfast bap of sorts and thought to go to Roys Cafe as I've never been in there before. I decided to go for a bacon and sausage bap and placed my order. While I was waiting an elderly customer threw her cutlery on the counter and demanded a refund because the staff gave the breakfast she ordered to someone else. Maybe this is just poor organisation... She demanded a refund, said it would be the last time she visited and walked out. When I finally got my order (to takeaway) it was disappointing. Bog standard average bap with overdone sausages and very dry bacon. I paid £2.75 for just the bap and I won't be ordering one again. As I walked out another customer had a breakfast and it did look nice.

I use to a regular customer her for many years. The cafe use to have staff who lived in Bowthorpe so it felt like a proper community cafe.Loads of us use to sit outside and indoors and everyone use to know everyone.Since roys have taken over yes ok it is allways busy but I have had a few breakfasts and other food in there and it has never been nice..and sometimes such a long wait!Ok the staff are very friendly and it is done up nice and spotless but the atmosphere has changed. Its ok if you just want a cuppa and a sit down. but there is many other nice cafes located in Norwich with better food.

Ok i fancy a egg and cheese sandwich, (amazing combination I know) I was informed they can't make it ? Ok just give me cheese and lettuce then. I had to wait 10 minutes for my two Americanos, a donut and cheese and lettuce sandwich. Look at the pictures to see how my sandwich turned out. I've used Roys cafe plenty a of times I've always moaned about the service and crap food but today just plain old took the biscuit. £8.06p to toss that in the bin and enjoy my Luke warm watered down Americano. Roys! Your doing it wrong!

So came in with my nan as a general quick bite to eat. Asked for sausage bap with no butter, and asked for a ham and pickle sandwich no butter. My sausage bap came with butter in and my ham and pickle sandwich came as cheese and pickle sandwich. So sent both back. Sausage bap came back with no butter in fantastic :) got my ham and pickle sandwich and it had butter in, and it had looked like they had just scrapped the cheese out and put ham in as there was still remainders of grated cheese on the bread. So I sent it back. All I got in return was sorry. My nan explained to them on 2 occasions that I am allergic to dairy and still my food comes out with butter in. Staff have no consideration what so ever. This is one café I will never ever come back to and I will definitely be telling friends and family of my visit here.

Nipped into Bowthorpe to buy some lunch and decided to pop into Roy's café after seeing an advertising board outside with an all day breakfast on.I ordered at the counter, one all day breakfast - no beans( nothing offered in its place, but no worries) and a diet pepsi. After about 6 minutes the drinks were served, well not so much as served as dropped on table - just the can, no glass, no straw, just a can. There as initially only one member of staff covering serving, food so after a while the queue at the desk started to form as more and more orders were taken. At one stage I heard the staff member say to an old lady that she would have to wait 45 minutes to get some food !!!. Another member of staff soon joined and faffed about making teas and coffees and wandering around aimlessly trying to offload a Panini that no-one seemed to have ordered.Bearing in mind I only have a half hour lunch break, here I was another 20 minutes later still waiting for my food, bearing in mind that all I had ordered was simple food - sausage, egg and bacon.I went up the counter, just as the food was finally plated u, so I returned to my table. There was the weakest, most pathetic 'sorry for the wait' offered, to which I mentioned that I then only had 2 minutes to finish and get back to work, to which I received a shrug of the shoulders and the same weak, pathetic 'sorry'Anyways, so I have finally got my food - the sausage - fine, the egg - well lets just say I am sure the egg white should be cooked? maybe not and the bacon was like chewing on leather. If I wasn't in such a hurray due to the delays I would have asked to speak to a manager, however looking at the queue still waiting to be served and the general chaos, I thought it would be unfair to those still waiting for their food or waiting to order to cause any more delays by speaking to someone further.Summary: If you have all day, don't mind average food and pretty poor service then pop in, however if you are short for time and expect to be treated as a paying customer, paying for a service then I would give this place a miss.

So reasonably priced you feel you should do some washing up - I had the prawn sarnie, softer than soft and very tasty brown bread, hand cut, juicy prawns (not those bullet budget ones), with tasty skin on crisps and salad on the side - - wow, I won't tell you the price because if they don't put it up they'll go out of business. My son had the American pancake breakfast - with crispy bacon and maple - he loved it. They do Earl Grey, all teas are good quality - not the builders sort!. they have a great selection on cold drinks on offer, pastries and looks to be a good coffee machine too plus the usual lunch time goodies like toasties, jackets, sausage rolls (Breakfast baps too). Lets face it going to Bowthorpe is like being in an episode of "Life on Mars" its going back to the 70's, you almost imagine a Ford Capri with the Sweeny in to come roaring round the corner - - BUT if your close by and fancy escaping in the nicely decorated and comfy cafe for some GOOD food at too cheaper prices - drop in, its well worth it. they have sofas too!

Always visit The Lamb every time we go to Norwich. This time they was just about to close for refurbishment but the pub still had a great atmosphere and a good range of beers, wines, sprits and food in stock. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The pub is a credit to the city.

How do you mess up a steak that badly, strange concept, they give you tablets, despite having 4 staff staring at you not saying a word, you do it all yourself and then they charge you for the service... I ordered the steak, rare, it arrived well done and tough as boots, I couldn't manage it, could be the worst steak I've ever had! Was never asked how it was, just got up and left. Really cold strange place

Unpleasant environment. Once sat I noticed how dirty and littered the floor was along with food crumbs spread across the bench seating areas. Plenty of staff to clean the floor and tables yet this has not been done. Coffee was very tasteless and overly milky, would even say a tad sour, an overpriced experience. Sat near the back kitchen and a slightly eggy smell is wafting into the seating area which just adds to the grubby feel in this place.
