Not the easiest place to find but well worth the effort. A proper pub, good local ales, excellent food at very reasonable prices and all in all convivial atmosphere , in a nutshell everything that a good pub should be. We look forward to returning soon.

We’ve just moved to the area for a month and happened upon this delightful place. And aren’t we glad that we did! The quality of the real ales is fabulous and they clearly know how to tend them. The staff are very friendly and welcoming: Vanessa, Nathaniel and George have made us feel at home. We’re looking forward to checking out the food soon. Every plate that has passed us has looked and smelled very inviting. A warm and welcoming community spirit awaits you here.

Just what a proper village pub should be! Plenty of chatty locals, very dog friendly, good value, nicely presented food and a range of different drinks including a very tasty flat local cider. We visited 3 times during the week…..it was literally 50 yards away so we didn’t have an excuse not to!……and ate twice. Wednesday evening is steak night, and we had two sirloins and a bottle of Pinot for £48! Excellent quality meat and even better value. On Friday we had fish and chips and pan fried sea bass with vegetables. Both were excellent. Service is friendly and efficient (the bar man brought our drinks to the table even though we were 5’ away! The locals were (mostly) interested in our two dogs and chatted happily with us about theirs and local life. Like a lot of country pubs these days it’s not open on Monday or Tuesday, but when it is, it’s a real pleasure and one which will hopefully continue to thrive.

Used to visit here when I lived locally and noticed the excellent ratings on TA. We booked for an early dinner and it was quiet and a bit lacking in atmosphere, perhaps understandable considering the location. Owner was friendly an we ordered a bottle of Red, reasonably priced and some olives, they were excellent. Food was generally very good although the Lamb was a bit lacking at £17. My friend said the peas were hard and there were no other vegetables. A very good visit and I'm sure we'll be back again soon.

Delightful pub/restaurant that we are lucky to have as one of our locals. Menu is small which means it’s all freshly cooked, with plenty of choice and good size portions. My friend and I had the fish pie which was delicious, hubby had tagine. It’s a little hidden gem.

Great little pub in the middle of nowhere. Tortuous country lane to get there but well worth it. With family stayed locally for a week and ate here 3 times out of 7 nights. Without doubt the best food we had all week. The main attraction is the steak pie....also the steak pie, and more especially the steak pie. Without doubt the best, absolutly the best pie we have ever had anywhere. It would win awards. Perfect pastry (top and bottom) full of succulent meat (no sludge), gravy to die for. I think you get the picture. I hope the same ladlord and landlay are still there and they continue their great food. Especially their pies.

This pub was recomended to us by our holiday accomodation hosts. They were not wrong, this is probably the best pub for grub anywhere in the area. Limited but adequate simple menu of wholesome meals. We intended to tour other local hostelries during our weeks stay but ate here 4 evenings out of 7 because it was so good. Reasonable prices, even for a bottle of wine! The absolute winner meal was the home made steak and ale pie. 2 of our party of 5 had this 3 days running. Best pie ever from any pub anywhere was the consensus and the other meals were top notch too. Nice big parking area in a really unspoiled little village in the heart of the Shropshire Hills a MUST to visit.

Created a walking route which took in the Bottle and Glass so we could grab a spot of lunch. On arrival we came across a picturesque olde style pub with a small bar to one side and a cosy restaurant to the other. We had two dogs with us and this wasnt an issue for the owners who we soon found out were new in to the pub. Great little selection of ales and ciders on tap, and delicious lunch baguettes. Dogs were made to feel more than welcome with the owner treating them to some dog biscuits. Also a special mention for the Rhubarb and Port Crumble which went down very well. Wish this pub all the success and should be a must for people walking in the Long Mynd region.

The snug, with a lovely roaring log fire, was crowded so we went into the dining area and seeing some of the tables were set we asked if is was possible to get any lunch. The young lady serving behind the bar asked if we had booked? No we said we only dropped in on the off chance. She consulted her husband and it was agreed we could eat. A lunch time menu was provided and l ordered a filled omelette and my wife a filled baked potato. In the meantime l had a pint of bitter and my wife a glass of dry white wine.

My friend fancied a gin, and was presented with a whole list to choose from, eventually plumping for rhubarb! Good food, unhurried service, and our meal was punctuated with laughs from all tables as a horse outside kept making its presence known - apparently it wasn't impressed that the owner was eating inside! Puddings were great, and my request for 'lots of custard' was most definitely satisfied! We left just as a couple of guys arrived on their tractor, which our 'townie' friends were most amused about!

Ten years ago we were out walking with friends and they took us to this gorgeous 17th century inn for lunch. In those days it was owned by a very outgoing chap who wore a bow tie which was not quite what I had expected in this little out of the way inn. I fancied the lasagne.....OMG! I had hit the jackpot. It was the best lasagne I had ever had. A year or two later I was still dreaming of the great taste experience and we went back only to find the inn had changed hands and the lasagne was no more. Last Wednesday we found ourselves in the area area with two friends from San Francisco and having checked on the inn's opening times I saw several reviews about how wonderful the lasagne was.......was the cook back?? We rang through as we left Ludlow saying that it might be a little tight to get there before 2.30pm - no worries they said - give us your order over the phone and we will have it ready for you when you arrive! Well that was easy two lasagnes and two veggie wellingtons (goats cheese, tomato and basil). We skidded into the car park and were made very welcome by the new owners and our lunches appeared within minutes. I chatted to the new owner who explained that he had managed to persuade the old cook to return and that her lasagne was her own secret recipe! One happy bunny - ten years on and I was experiencing that wonderful dish again, The Wellingtons were also very good. This is also a place to stay for B&B and I would thoroughly recommend it. It is a little gem in a hamlet that is so out of the way in the glorious Shropshire countryside that it needs all the patronage it can muster - well worth the trip. Thank you landlord and family for making our trip into Shropshire even more memorable.

After a few difficult stressful and upsetting weeks my husband and I decided we needed a break away from it all for a weekend. We found this pub online as we would never have known about it otherwise. Well, what a find! Lovely pub, great food, marvellous atmosphere, really comfortable bed and room, superb welcome and service....what more can I say? Just loved it and the weekend spent at this lovely pub has really lifted our spirits..Thank you so much. We will definitely be back.

We were on business in the area and through Trip Advisor found this amazing pub. Settled in a small village in the Shropshire countryside this pub is chocolate-box pretty but much, much more than scenic. The food is excellent and great value we had belly pork, steak and Guinness pie and lasagne - all three dishes were excellent and I topped it off with a delicious lemon tart. All with a good selection of freehouse beers. We were lucky enough to be staying overnight, in the comfortable and spacious bed and breakfast rooms. Everything you need is there and spotlessly clean and everything was done properly, at the end of the evening Jon the landlord gave us flasks of cold milk for our bedrooms as they don't believe in uht milk, a small touch but really nice.In the morning we went for a very fine full English breakfast as with everything about the Bottle and Glass it was superb. This pub with bed and breakfast is very highly recommended, and a big thank you to Jon and his team.

House hunting & staying overnight in the area we chose this pub from a list recommended in our b&b. So glad we did! A lovely welcoming place with friendly staff. A fire burning, low ceilings, old world charm. A table was made available for us, cosy & quiet in the corner. We decided on the home made Lasagne which came with salad & gorgeous chips. It was delicious. The relaxing atmosphere & lack of loud music enabled us to chat & enjoy our meal. Highly recommended.

Dinner for six on two nights and dinner for eight on another night. All superbly cooked and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The vegetables were cooked just right in line with their sense of humour!

The friendly welcome we had when we called in on spec was excellent, and so was the service and food. That made us return - twice. This is a REAL pub - not pretentious in any way, but the welcome, the service, the atmosphere and (of course) the food put it way above most others. A real fire, in a real pub, serving real food prepared by real, friendly people, what more can you ask?The trout (as a special off menu) was beautifully cooked, and all our family (dog included) were made very welcome. Definitely recommended

We visited last year whilst on holiday and couldn't resist visiting this year. The Bottle & Glass is well off the main routes, so allow time and plan your route.Once found there is adequate parking. The welcome as before was warm and welcoming. We were offered a choice of tables, all adequately spaced and both neat and clean.Drinks were ordered and menus provided. The menu was extensive with interesting choices.Orders were efficiently taken and whilst there was a delay until they were served, this was anticipated with meals freshly cooked. As before very, very good.

The service was friendly and the food absolutely first-rate. Can recommend the Ploughman’s which is loaded with cheese, really top notch ham, and lovely crusty bread. Would have loved to stay for cake but we were all too full.

we always try to come here when we can get in and don’t fancy cooking one ourselves. the meat selection is always good and very generous, their roast potatoes are the best - lovely and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. it is a carvery so can help yourself. they unfortunately don’t have any mash but we just add extra roasties! their gravy is lovely and homemade with the meat juices in. the staff are lovely and attentive. our favourite place to go for sunday lunch!

We booked for dinner as we knew the White Lion had reopened for food with a new chef. We were not disappointed the food was delicious, we had the rib eye steak, the sea bass special and the penne vodka. All were beautifully cooked and served. The service was great and the staff were friendly. We will definitely be eating here again.

We are regular visitors to the Red Lion in Myddle. We return every time because the food and service is second to none. We always receive a warm welcome and we know how hard Pete and Jackie and staff work to make sure that their guests are not disappointed. If you fancy a meal out around Shrewsbury (lunch or dinner) then look no further than the Red Lion. You won’t regret it.
