A little gem of a restaurant. Great food, great service, great atmosphere!! None of us could not fault anything. I visited for dinner last week with family - fabulous food. Will definitely be visiting again when I am next in Cornwall.

We had the set lunch here today and what an experience. This restaurant oozes quality, when we had ordered our food our wine arrived in glasses of such quality that I have never seen in a restaurant before. The wine was excellent as well. When the food arrived it was so well presented and delicious that I would have expected to pay more. The service was excellent and all in all a great experience. I would recommend a visit if you are interested in a quality experience.

Wonderful place for a proper Sunday roast dinner. I had roast chicken and my husband had roast beef. The best roasted potatoes I've ever eaten. Healthy portion of vegetables. Had a starter of bread and olives - very addicting. Loved the atmosphere and the host was very friendly and attentive but not overly so.

We were struggling to find somewhere decent to eat in Bodmin and then found this little gem. Ray was very welcoming and we had a fabulous meal. So good that we went back for Sunday lunch.This also was really good. The staff are attentive and service excellent. Reasonably priced. A must if you are in the area.

This is the 3rd time we have been to Flory this year, once for breakfast, once for lunch with friends & this time for a birthday evening meal. Each time we have been impressed with the quality & flavours of the food. The menu is varied with plenty of choice for each course & there is a great selection of wines to try. Staff are very friendly. Will definitely be back.

Having just arrived in Bodmin and waiting for our accommodation to be ready we headed here for some lunch. The front of house was so friendly and immediately asked if we wanted to leave our suitcase behind the counter!! The restaurant was split into a number of rooms with very characteristic decor- we couldn’t wait to see the menu!! Their lunch menu was set and was 2 course for £24 or 3 courses for another price! We went for 2 courses and each and had high expectations! I got the pulled pork coquettes to start. Very bland to say the least and the lettuce had gone limp. Oh well maybe it’ll be pulled back with the main! We both ordered the chicken supreme. It looked very appetising when it arrived but there were some odd combinations on the plate! Sweetcorn, aubergine, kale?, broccoli……. The chicken was very succulent and tasty, as was the potato cubes. But the whole thing was drenched in a ‘chorizo sauce’ which was vile. So much so that the other half couldn’t eat his meal! However, redemption was made with the Belgian chocolate tart…. Yummy!!! Overall all the place is trying to hard to be up market and needs to go back to basics with its savoury food- producing high quality, tasty, simple dishes!! Very disappointed with the quality we received for £60 by the time drinks were added on!

We were looking for somewhere a bit different (and a bit last minute) for my hubby's birthday lunch. Stumbled across Flory's which ticked all the boxes and was absolutely amazing. A small restaurant with exceptional everything. We stopped in for dinner and were amazed. The atmosphere was great, the staff were friendly and attentive. Food arrived quickly and absolutely blew us away. Course after course left us smiling. I can honestly say that I've found my happy place.

We came for the first time at the beginning of June for my birthday meal. The service and the food were excellent and we could not of felt more welcome. There were 7 of us and we all had a different main and they were all cooked to perfection. We eat out alot and you could taste it was all good quality food. I don’t do deserts much but they very kindly brought me out a little ice cream with a big chocolate happy birthday slab on ( which I do love !!) never say no to chocolate! A lovely touch and a lovely surprise. We are local and I’m looking forward to coming back. Thank you.

This appears to be the best place to eat in Bodmin. Went for Sunday lunch and none of it disappointed. The small plates starters were a good indication of what was to follow. My wife had the Lamb, I had perhaps the best Beef Wellington I've ever had. The restaurant is well worth a visit.

We came here in our only wet and cold night in Bodmin. Had been told it was good and it lived up to that reputation. The food was excellent, the restaurant was warm and inviting. Staff friendly.

Booked for the Spanish evening last Saturday 8th June with my partner Julie. Had a fantastic meal served by well dressed staff who were polite and professional throughout. Ray was on hand advising on wine and the meal itself but was not intrusive on our evening. Really good atmosphere in the restaurant and even though fully booked service was smooth and ideal for us. Flory who obviously had a busy night preparing and cooking the food even had time to say Hi and check that all was well for us.

This is a restaurant worth seeking out. Bodmin may not be high on your list of places to visit in Cornwall but Florys Restaurant is a must do! From the warm welcome to the delicious food and interesting wine list, everything was exemplary. Our best meal since arriving in Europe 4 weeks ago.

Cannot thank Ray and his wonderful staff for the most wonderful evening. The most attentive staff and the food was absolutely amazing considering we were a large party it was brought out hot and all at the same time. Would definitely recommend.

Bit worried when they said they had a private party upstairs as in Cornwall that generally means disruption to service for everyone else . Not here ! Every dish was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection and brought out so quickly . Owner was front of house and very attentive and welcoming and knowledgeable about the extensive wine list and food . The Italian reds are sublime. We had a 3 course meal each and a beautiful bottle of red and the bill was similar price to our local pub ! But my goodness what a world apart. Highly recommended the bignettes , lamb , steak and the puddings were sublime . Really keen to come back with our friends and experience the private dining rooms upstairs for 8 and 12 people . I’m only 6 miles away, don’t know how I have never been before . This is a hidden modest gem but it is definitely a special place to eat . We came for a celebration Saturday evening dinner. We started with biscuity high quality Prosecco which came in beautiful glasses. Then the food arrived and it was really delicious with interesting twists, such as a tangy agrodulce sauce with the pheasant. And the best dark chocolate tart I’ve ever eaten. Charming, efficient service by our young waiter. Well worth travelling to, and we will most certainly come again.

We booked tonight for a big celebration. We had exclusive use of the 1st floor. Ray and his team were extremely attentive from start to finish. The food was so good, hot and tasty. Highly recommend!!

Ordered the Ribeye steak with dauphinois potatoes, broccoli, spinach, onions and mushrooms cooked in what I believe is a white wine sauce from the Flory Restaurant in Bodmin. They were extremely knowledgable about gluten free and cross contamination, the chef prepared and cleaned a separate area to prep and cook my food and they were very clued up! Also had a lovely rattler on draught. I am coeliac and it is potentially the best meal I’ve had since diagnosis ❤️

A quick and speedy lunch, very pleasant and with a kind member of staff. We seemed to be the only folk in the bar area at the time but that was ok. We had a good recharge of our batteries and set on our way again.

My husband says this was the best Sunday lunch he had eaten out in a long time. We both had Roast Beef and it was delicious, beautiful veg and roast potatoes. Flavours were delightful. Desserts were delicious as well. This is the first time we had been since it had changed to Flory’s but we will definitely be back.

Had an evening meal with some friends on a Thursday evening. The food was incredible. Good quality, local food. The service and ambience was perfect. Highly recommend a visit if you are in or near the area! Well worth a visit.

We have visited Flory’s a couple of times now. Each time we are made to feel at home and welcome. The menu has a broad range of options for any appetite and the wine list is extensive. The service is second to none and you are treated as an individual, you can tell a lot of time and effort has gone into selecting the best produce from local suppliers to create only the best dishes. Flory and her team in the kitchen are producing world class food with A1 ingredients and Ray looks after each and every person who walks through the door.

Delicious meal sat downstairs in the 'dog friendly' lounge with a roaring log burner! Ordered the Tomahawk T-Bone steak in advance & so pleased we did. It was cooked perfectly & huge enough to be shared by 3 with some starters alongside it. Friendly staff & owner. Definitely worth a visit.

Glad we followed our hunch and ignored the one poor review on TripAdvisor because the our experience here was excellent all round.From the when we arrived enquiring about a table until we left to wander back to our accommodation we had superb time. One of my staff found this restaurant online and booked it, I didn't want to go but was so glad I did. Food was amazing and really good value. The food was amazing apart from the steak which came cut into a small pieces.It didn’t look like a steak and it cost £25.The owner wasn’t happy that we questioned if it was actually steak or meat strips.Eventually under protest he agreed to bring a complete steak but by this time the rest of the meal had gone cold and soggy.The food is good but if you like steak ask for it to be complete.

We went to The Flory for Sunday lunch whilst on holiday nearBodmin. The service was great and the roast was delicious, although a little on the large side! Smaller portions were offered for our daughter. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Fist visit to this restaurant and won’t be our last, having been in north Cornwall for the last week we have found most pubs/restaurants have very limited menus, all of them seem not to be able to cook anything other than chips and veg is obviously scarce. To find this restaurant by accident on our travels was fantastic. The food was cooked to perfection, the service was excellent I can highly recommend this place if you want great food. We sat in the courtyard and felt safe at all times , prices obviously higher than pubs around the area but worth every penny.

Having experienced Ray And Flory's warm welcome and delicious food at their previous establishment we were keen to visit their new restaurant, so after a long delay due to recent restriction we visited for lunch today. The food was exceptional and good value just as we expected. Their food was always good but they have now take it up a notch or two. The restaurant with its very tasteful decor is on three levels with a secluded courtyard and well placed for parking. We look forward to returning very soon.

We booked a special lunch for my husbands birthday, it was obvious from the start that it was short staffed and very busy. We were there for an hour with menu and a jug of water! Finally ordered a large pizza each. Nearly an hour later we had to ask for it. When it did arrive it was dry and not freshly cooked. Sadly we left after paying 33.00 for something which was not good. Yes I appreciate they were working so hard but it really must improve.

We had an evening meal here.The host was very welcoming. Staff friendly and efficient. The food was very well presented and tasty.I had the prawn starter and hake fillet main .My partner had the duck egg starter and then pork Wellington.The only downside was we were unfortunate to be sitting by a rather loud customer who could not stop swearing.Luckily he was at the end of his meal otherwise I would have asked to change tables.I do not need this on a night out in such a lovely restaurant. Would definitely go again if in Bodmin.Recommend booking as very busy.

We had a lovely meal out as a family tonight, last minute thing. Meals were delicious as always, had a later table and felt in no way rushed. We were the last ones out but felt relaxed and looked after all evening.

Stopped here on the way back home to South Wales as it looked a nice place, amongst all the fast food outlets in town. It was a good choice lovely relaxed courtyard out the back for alfresco dinning which was very relaxing and tranquil. Lunch time menu was good with plenty of selection and reasonably priced. Service was excellent not to obtrusive but very professional and efficient. Delicious cheese and chutney sandwich and good selection of cakes and desserts I had a pan-cotta which was beautiful presented and tasted scrumptious. Unscheduled stop but so glad we did.

We went two evenings in a row...!! Such wonderful evenings of bonhomie, great cooking and warmth and outstanding wines. We were squeezed in today (and very grateful too!) yesterday we had pork belly starter which was excellent - extremely tasty and beautifully cooked. I would have liked more purée (because it was delicious)My husband had lamb which was also extremely tasty and tender- I had the hake which was less excellent - the chef came to get feedback and was very open to constructive criticism , and very grateful for our honest appraisal- I felt the hake was just over perfectly cooked and lacked the wow factor - however we returned tonight and had scallops with cauliflower two ways - all perfect - I had duck which was tender, tasty and beautifully presented - husband had locally grown sirloin which was beautifully cooked but not the best cut - unlucky probably rather than restaurant’s failing. The wines are really fabulous - and we loved the waiters ; attentive, extremely pleasant and added to the whole experience. The owner opened his favourite wine to let us enjoy it - magnificent! We are avid foodies and therefore the bar was set very high - a highly recommended restaurant - make sure you get the owners wine advice - A great atmosphere and wonderful food - what’s not to love??!

Just had lunch with our dog in a delightful sunny courtyard at this charming restaurant. Apparently, dogs are also welcome inside on the ground floor so no problem if the weather's bad. Excellent choice of food, catering equally for those who want something light, those who want something substantial and those who fancy brunch. Hubby had the slow braised brisket with mash and broccoli and I had the Eggs Benedict. Both were cooked and presented perfectly. We didn't have cakes but they looked amazing with the glossiest tempered chocolate you've ever seen and they're all made at the restaurant, not bought in. The lovely Spanish chef/owner told us that they have a special cool room specifically for making the patisserie as the kitchen would be way too hot. Having found Flory for lunch, we wish we could try it for dinner but it's fully booked this week and we leave Cornwall on Saturday. It will be top of our list for a return visit when we're next in the area. I'm sure that, by then, it will have earned, at the very least, a Michelin plate.

Flory Restaurant has a beautiful feel to it. Our waitress was very polite and happy to help us out in any way. The food is on the more expensive side but the standard matches this and all courses were cooked and presented superbly. Starters were quite expensive for their portion size however main course portions were very generous and we were full to bursting! Great effort has been made to use local produce and all companies and locations were listed on the back of the menu. This is definitely a suitable venue for a celebration or birthday. Our only let down was the Sole main course, which sadly had too many bones to be enjoyed and was served with gnocchi that tasted very, very acidic. We would however thoroughly recommend both the seafood pasta and the pork wellington - they were fantastic. The chocolate tart for dessert is also wonderful. Thankyou for having us, we would return.

Flory restaurant is truly rare with its unique and inspired menu, clearly using the best and local (where possible) ingredients. The food was the best that I've had amongst many more celebrated restaurants and the waiting staff genuinely friendly and efficient. Housed in a beautiful old building, the elegant but relaxed restaurant, together with the courtyard outside reflected the owners attention to detail and they made sure that guests were properly looked after too. Thank you for a really lovely evening in your fabulous restaurant.

Visited for an evening meal on a Thursday night. A little early for our reservation, but not a problem. Shown upstairs to a lovely dining room with ambient lighting and a great, relaxed atmosphere. Mine host was very welcoming, friendly and made useful wine recommendations. Food was out of this world. Don’t usually have three courses - But the quality, and lightness of the food allowed endulgence! Flory herself made a point of visiting the tables for a genuine friendly touch - a very likeable lady who is an excellent chef. Excellent evening all round. Would certainly recommend.

We have dined at Flory twice in the last couple of months, the first time for my brother's birthday in October. I couldn't believe my eyes when we were taken to the first floor, super stylish with an amazing ambience! The menu has so many delicious meals to choose from and no matter what you choose (it's difficult to pick one!), the food is no other than exceptional. We enjoyed ourselves so much, that we returned this last weekend. We both commented that it was the best meal we have had! To top it off, the service is fantastic - extremely friendly and personable. We were recommended a wine to compromise our different tastes which was perfect! Put this on your to-do list! We will be back again and again!

Despite arriving late for our booked time we were welcomed and greeted happily by our hosts. In my eyes the staff could not do more and I must praise them for the great service they provided. They were attentive to our three children as well as they adults present and interacted well with all. The food was absolutely delicious and the best we had during our 5 days in the area. I can't heap enough praise on all concerned, On top of it all I loved the deco and atmosphere. It was an very enjoyable and relaxing experience and will make a bee line the next time I visit the area. Wishing you all good luck with the pending lockdown and for the future

Great food and even greater staff! ... calm and chilled atmosphere, highly recommend ! The cheesy chips were a particular favourite.

Popped in for lunch without a booking and the staff was great- friendly and efficient. Food was outstanding - I had the Merlusa Hake) daily special- described as pan fried but so lightly more like grilled. Wife’s Pittirrinan salad was also outstanding with fresh tuna. Capped with a cream tea made for a great TA impromptu stop (walking distance from the Bodmin Keep a Regimental Museum). Cosy room with fireplace to boot!

We stopped on the off chance of just wanting somewhere for a bite of lunch, and we’re so glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and friendly, attentive staff. We would definitely come again, 10/10

I visited Flory one evening in September 2020 with my wife and son.First impressions were good: despite having in place a one-way system and being Covid-compliant, the staff were immediately welcoming and the whole place had a friendly buzz. We'd booked a table (which I imagine was a pretty good idea, seeing as it seems to be an extremely popular restaurant with locals) and were shown into a room to the right of the entrance. There were three or four tables in there, which gave the room a perfect blend of intimacy without being too quiet.Ray was an extremely friendly host and sorted us out with drinks in no time. The menu had enough mouth-watering choices to make me indecisive but I went with scallops followed by lamb. Make no mistake, the food is superb. I always think the vegetables are an excellent barometer of a chef's skill. Many chefs can rustle up a decent meat course and then ruin that with soggy vegetables. Not so here. The cooking was so much more than superb, for every item on the plate. Vegetables were crunchy but tender, the scallops were sweet, the lamb melted in the mouth. On a practical note, the town car park is less than 5 minutes' walk away and is quite large. The toilets in the restaurant were spotless. And the team were very communicative with me after the visit, my son having left his jacket behind.We were all quite sorry to leave. It won't be our last visit to Flory, of that I am sure. In the meantime, I wish the restaurant all the best, especially in the midst of the current pandemic. I look forward to my next visit. A big thumbs up.

Despite all the problems with Covid restrictions Flory's seems to be able to generate a warm, friendly atmosphere. We've just come back from lunch there, and it was delightful.Garlic prawns, smashed avocado with beautiful poached eggs, and a passionfruit tart pudding. I'm usually a bit wary of those sort of desserts because passionfruit can be dull and I don't like the cold feeling of ice-cream. But this was a tart with enough sharpness to be interesting, and the home-made white chocolate ice-cream was really rich and creamy.The menu has really good range, and they seem to cover everything from a coffee with cake, through lunchtime snacks, to a complete meal. Such a boon to Bodmin.

We loved the warm welcome and very helpful service, but the vegan options felt like a real afterthought with very little in the way of sides/embellishment when compared with the meat/fish options. Meanwhile the squid ink tagliatelle was bland but the lamb was apparently cooked very well.

Excellent food and service, a good choice of inexpensive wines, an interesting menu, fresh vegetables which taste as if they have come straight from the garden, dog friendly. What’s not to like? Well, my wife’s lamb was raw when it arrived - they changed it immediately without any fuss and it came back perfect - and my steak was equally underdone, although that was probably my fault for asking to have it as the chef recommended. I think this is a super find in the heart of Bodmin. For two courses plus wine, we spent just under £100 including service.

We have been many times and enjoyed the very basic menu but today was just beyond belief. We told our children as we thought would be a nice treat. Their hot chocolates were un-drinkable as they tasted weird and were undrinkable. We have previously had the egg and bacon sandwich which is great but today it just felt like chef had not turned up and some random tried. It was greasy and over cooked, not cut, cheap bread, no butter, no garnish and just slapped on a dirty plate! My partner had the pancakes and could not eat as they were so under cooked that were solid in the middle, this added with under fried bacon was not a good mix! I did flag everything to the staff, even asking if the chef had left but the only response was a giggle and the bill! Honestly we have been here before and thought ok but after today just spend your money at a greasy spoon as this place is no better. They don’t care about the clients...awful.

The people who own this, Ray and Flory, used to have the Racehorse Inn and that was a favourite haunt of ours. However due to Covid they had to shut down. This place we decided to give a try a month or so ago and again tonight. The food is excellent, the staff are brilliant, the service is excellent....Ray and Flory are excellent hosts and I would recommend this place to anyone who is in the Bodmin area. Thanks for the lovely little Sorbet with Happy Anniversary on it..lovely touch x

Amazing food, all locally sourced. Varied menu, caters for vegans. I had lamb, which was excellent. Very good wine and prosecco. Nice staff. Elegant upstairs restaurant. You could bring a dog and eat downstairs. In the evening parking on main road. Highly recommended.

Visited Flory twice last week, once for an Anniversary and then returned as the first visit was so good. In short, great food, good prices and excellent hosting. If you’re looking for a restaurant in the Bodmin area I would strongly recommend this restaurant.Food was well cooked, well presented, tasted lovely and fresh. Host couldn’t have been better – polite, friendly and accommodating.Prices – very reasonable, would say cheaper than I was expecting. Would definitely visit again if I was in or near Bodmin.

Seasonal locally sourced food, with menu regularly varied. Tasty, tasty, tasty. Service polite, helpful and covid19 aware. Well worth a visit!

Trying to create a welcoming and romantic ambience within the restrictions required by Covid 19 is not easy, but last night Flory managed it perfectly.We had asked to dine outside in the recently refurbished courtyard - perhaps a little unusual; we Brits don't have the Continental attitude to alfresco evenings - but it was superb. There was discreet lighting, a fire, candles - this could have been anywhere in Spain or Italy - and the result was delightful.We have eaten at Flory a few times previously and know them to be attentive and interested in what customers enjoy. It is a restaurant that wants to please, rather than just dole out a standard menu of uninspiring food. The place has a distinct buzz, and they are obviously attracting plenty of custom, but it doesn't feel crowded or unsafe - and if you are happy to out outside it achieves a level of romance that we had almost thought had disappeared completely in these sad times.The menu is extensive enough to allow a good range of choice whilst not being so large that you wonder how it can be managed. There are a few conventional items so as not to scare the horses, but plenty of more original ones to intrigue those more interested in new ideas, with local sources being declared and well understood.Barbecued beans with a poached egg as a starter was superb; tempura cauliflower was gently spiced and a far cry from dull as a vegan dish.Service was warm, relaxed and as attentive as desired: if you want to spend a long evening enjoying the atmosphere they let you.

Food was lovely however a little overpriced in places. The service was very much lacking especially towards the end, found ourselves waiting ages for our dessert order to be taken and then for that to arrive, then waited nearly 30 minutes to pay our bill having to ask twice for it. There was only two of us but it took a whole 2 hours to to have a meal on a Tuesday evening. Would hate to see what it would be like on a weekend.

Faultless. What more can I say? Faultless service: staff are welcoming, there there when needed, but not hovering. Faultless ambience: excellent decor. Quiet music, small number of clientele, discrete and pleasant music, comfortable seats.Faultless food: soup, steak and cheese board, all carefully assembled, well cooked and well presented. This restaurant and it's owner and chef are going places.
