Went for your premiere inn breaky, good bit of food for £10.20. Much the same as the other locations.

Food was delicious , steak was cooked to perfection. Emily looked after us as she always does with a smile and professionalism.

Absolutely recommend. Been here a few times and every time staff are attentive. Never had an issue with waiting for food or drink orders to be taken or delivered. If you visit Adam is an absolute legend!

Went for xmas lunch with about 30 people. Food loverly but cold plate cold. Not enough staff to deal with big groups. 😕

Food was much better than normal for a Beefeater. It was a really busy night, but the staff were excellent especially our server, Emily, who was so efficient. Would definitely stop there again on journey our to/from Scotland

We had breakfast at the Border Gate Beefeater on Sunday 15th December, staff are very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing is too much trouble, nice selection of food on offer, and they will assist on items being cooked to your way, some of the servery area can get a bit messy, but this is customers behaviour and not the restaurant fault, if something is spilt then tell a staff member and they will attend to it, all in all a very nice breakfast at a good price

If anyone is looking for something to eat give this place a miss .was waiting one hour 40 mins on food and it come out cold . Small portions and overtime priced .( Never will be back).

Extremely poor meal here today. Items missing from kids starters. Kids mains came different to what was ordered. Adult mains inedible, meat terrible and veg stone cold. Christ knows who was cooking in there today. Took 2 hours from entering, to receiving the main course. Confirmed to us that Beefeaters and suchlike are to be avoided.

Great food bad price I ordered a meal for my whole family of 5 came up to £122 crazy. Otherwise food was amazing staff was amazing kept on asking if anything was wrong. And they gave us a discount next time we came back since we ordered such an expensive meal.

Not good dinner not worth the money and breakfast was even worse we paid good money for a load of rubbish after we left had to go and get food else where The only good thing was the manager and the young girl serving on the bar

Such a lovely atmosphere and a lovely evening. Emily our server was so attentive and on the ball when we needed anything. She had done a double shift and still provided excellent customer service to us. Her Manager i believe her name was Gem was just as courteous and caring.i don't find these places easy to eat in so the fact that I came out of there buzzing is a reflection on the level of quality service we received. Thankyou so much for a lovely evening we will definitely return for our next episode 😊 ❤

Having eaten here on a regular basis for about 10 years last night was the final straw. Pre booked our table, arrived 5 minutes early, left standing at the desk for over 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. On being seated (by a rather abrasive senior member of staff who clearly didn't want to be there) we were asked what we wanted to drink, (stupidly in hindsight) we said we needed to look at the wine menu - 20 minutes later a charming young lady came to take our order and also took our drinks order (she let slip that the senior member of staff who had seated us had gone for a break and left the place in chaos!) Came back 5 minutes later as two of the dishes were no longer available. Pinot Grigio ordered (one we knew) was not the one delivered - they sent the new more expensive one (not a problem as it turned out but disingenuous not to mention it until AFTER it had been opened and therefore we had to accept it. Starters came within 20 minutes and were fine, if rather lacklustre nachos on this occasion) - people next to us had to send both of their steaks back as they were basically raw and they wanted well done!! After 55 minute wait our mains arrived - my Cobb salad was superb but my husband's medium-rare steak was burnt to a crisp - we mentioned it to the server (who said "shall I take it away and get it cooked some more!!) but couldn't wait another hour for a replacement meal - in the meantime the people the other side had their main courses delivered BEFORE their starters had arrived - taken away and another 20 minute wait for their starters! One of our servers was an absolute star but clearly trying to do everything with minimal help from a fairly useless senior member of staff and I'm guessing someone fairly new who had little idea of what to do. So sad that what has always been a good place for a quick, good meal has ended like this - clearly through lack of staff and poor leadership from the top

You can choose between a continental or cooked breakfast. Food is fresh and well prepared. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good atmosphere. 👍

Regular customers, never let down. You must train your people well, always pleasant and efficient.

Visited for an evening meal today (04/10/24), we visit every 3-4 months, and it's always okay. You get what you pay for, which is fine. Today the meal was very good, much improved from our last visit and also very good compared to other city centre locations. The service by Sian was also amazing. She was very attentive, checked with any extras, and the dreaded allergies that have to be checked and re-checked. Sian was also the same with other tables, consistently good, and definitely made our experience improved. Good food, nice drinks, environment was also good, I think we will be back sooner than usual.

Could easily get 5 stars if they had enough staff on! All staff were overworked and fed up. They were all working very hard, but its easy to see that they're undervalued and underpaid. A full restaurant withs lots of people waiting! Service and quality suffered because of this. The meal was ok, steak cooked to preferences. Took 45 mins for meal to come out. Would I recommend eating here? Only if you're really hungry!

Out server was called Amelia and she was absolutely amazing. She was really polite and gave us great recommendations. Really speedy too !!

Went on a Bank Holiday so was expecting a slow service. I was wrong the young waitress Emma (5907) was running around serving everyone and was very polite and efficient nothing too much trouble. She deserves a bit pat on the back. It was my first visit and will definitely be returning.

As always, a fantastic meal, with excellent service. I recommend the border gate.

The food was nice for the price. Standard beefeater food. The service was a little weird. The hostess who led us was less than helpful, but the one at the bar was really nice!!!!

Kitchen was closed, waste of time..even when I called got an answer machine. Web site said there open. Crap service shame on whitbread management for not being organised.

Sadly today a busy eateriewas manned by a very hard working young lady with no support.,People walked out and others went outside . Eventually some staff turned up but the damage was done.I knew our meals would be stacked up on the hot plate or under hot .I lights meaning the freshly cooked feel was lostI understand about rostering and footfall but why by the end of our meal did several staff show up.I suggest a full review of how you staff at weekends.

Very poor food, waited over an hour for food and even 20 minutes before they came to take the drinks order. Food was cold for half the table I assume they just cooked it all at once so some of it sat waiting. Expensive for what it was can get better value at loads of other places. Poor quality ingredients steak was more gristle than meat and chips like bullets. Would be one start but they did refund some of the meals to make up for it so good managers at least. Wouldn't return when there is so many better options elsewhere.

Food was very hit and miss, 2 of the deal meals were very poor. Steak was fatty and chips dry. For the price some portions were quite small. Can't fault the staff they were friendly in and professional dealing with the complaint and refunded the 2 meals. Not sure if we would return. Maybe off day for the chef.

Arrived before noon to have a light lunch as the meals looked to be excellent value for the price. Plenty to choose from, even offer items from evening menu if prefer to have soup. No requirement to book a table in advance, which us always good. Partner has to be careful with certain food items, and the waitress produced the ingredients list for all meals prepared. We left after an hour and half as the venue was starting to get busy. Plenty of space to park and option to sit outside on sunny day. We will be visiting again in the near future as its so close to motorway junction if you are heading towards Scotland for a break.

Always great customer service, the food can be slow at busy times but that's to be expected, the staff are always friendly and happy to help.

Excellent and very friendly service from Emma. Good sized portions and tasty food too. A very busy restaurant and we did not have to wait too long for our food.

Took my daughter for food and was very happy with the service they showed getting her colouring and bringing things that kids need ie more sauce 😆 food was very good would recommend to anyone with kids wanting a quiet place

We have been to Beefeaters before and had a good experience, but this location let the team down. They were really rather quiet on a Saturday evening, but service was still slow. Everywhere was clean and tidy. This being said, my wine glass looked clean but smelt like it had been wiped with a damp tea towl and spoilt my enjoyment. Food was served about 45 minutes after being seated but came out cold. My husband ate his cold as he was very hungry, but I wanted mine hot. When I asked if my cold meal could be warmed up, they brought out a fresh serving, still not perticually hot. We were not checked on apart from a passing. "Is that better?" As the waitress walked past and all in all, we left disappointed.

Pretty poor, most meals missing at least 1 thing. The kids nachos were just tortilla chips and tomatoes and the veg and dips were just dried up cucumber. The fillet steak had a really strong carbon taste with half a dozen chips. Overall pretty poor and the place feels dirty.

We had to queue for ages to get our food only to find almost everything had gone, another long wait to for all the dishesxto be replenished. We weren't sure if it was slow, or shortage of staff

Worst Beefeater ever for dinner and breakfast when on a Meal Deal with Premier Inn. Avoid.

Steak came with no sauce. Had to have my meal recooked but the second meal arrived with no onion rings. Attitude of the staff stinks. Avoid this place. It’s terrible.

Had rybie steak, was only like warm which spoilt the dinner.

Popped in for a meal while visiting family. The food was what you would expect from a beefeater. Good quality at a reasonable price. Our waitress Sian was so friendly and went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was a pleasurable one, even though they appeared to be short staffed and she was run off her feet. She made sure we didn't run out of drinks by keeping an eye on our table. Will come back again next time we're in the area.

Both food and service were fantastic! I had prawn cocktail and chicken-ribs combo today and I will try different Menu tomorrow. Thanks to cheff and Lilly H.

Came yesterday for food once seated had to wait 35 minutes for the waiting staff to come take our drinks, the had to wait a further 20 minutes for them to come then our starters came out can't fault them but it was all down hill from there after our starter we waited 1 hour for mains and when they came the food was cold cooked but cold we sent some stuff back but when it came back there was stuff missing from the plate. We complained about it and thankfully our new server millie was wonderful and tried to mend this by giving us free puddings but sadly our puddings came out cold and had to be sent back. All in all we were there for 3 hours and it was horrible I understand that there would be a wait as it was a bank holiday but its the same menu all week and they should of been prepared for a busy shift. Feel bad for the waiting staff as they had to take flack of the kitchen staff and the bar should had more staff on then we wouldn't have to wait as long on our drinks

We are vegetarian. There was no veg. lasagne. I had a halloumi burger instead. I had to ask for mayo even though I ordered it. There were far too many fries. The burger was barely warm. If we eat there again, I’ll just order a couple of starters.

No steak available at a Beefeater at 19h30 at night. Sat for half an hour after ordering only to be told no fillet and no ribeye. Absolutely shocking, don't bother

Calamari for starter which was the nicest calamari I’ve had for a long while, fillet steak for main cooked to perfection. Staff were all pleasant and very attentive, will definitely be returning!

Food was appalling triple cooked chips were still hard not that there was many on the plate & the custard didn't even dirty the plate & what there was was stone cold. Won't ever go back

The staff were very attentive, our meal was well presented and the steak was perfect 👌 the outside area and building could do with some maintenance after the winter months.

Food was very poor when we went a few days ago, really not worth the money the starters were not very warm and very very small 😕

Great place for a meal, relax and fairly quiet

We had the lunch meal deal, 3 courses for £12.95 so didn't expect much on the plates, unfortunately the breaded mushrooms were so overcooked my fork couldn't go through the coating. My friend had a side order of onion rings and it was the same problem. We paid separately and I said no to a receipt, bad mistake because when I got home I realised I had been charged £6.78 for a small bottle of water. Safe to say we won't be returning.

This place could be a goldmine with it being the only restaurant on site beside a busy Premier Inn but unfortunately it is lacking in management and organisation. We arrived as a party of 4 at 8pm on Good Friday and there was a queue out the door. No one came to speak to anyone in the queue for at least 5 minutes. Then a flustered lady appeared and said to the 1st couple that unlikely to be able to fit you in as not booked. Another 10 mins later she told us the same! Why not just tell us all at the time she told the first lady? Tables stacked all over the place with plates and glasses and a genuine air of desperation. Avoid as the food didn't appear to be up to much either.

A quick update following a visit here on a Friday afternoon. Had the prawn cocktail, fillet steak and a sundae. All very well cooked and presented. Really enjoyable. Friendly and helpful staff. Much improved on my previous visits. I would call here again. It was not my first visit to this Beefeater. Called here on a Tuesday evening in November and had their lunch menu meal deal (before 5pm). The restaurant was rather cool feeling when seated..... soon discovered why - the radiator was turned off we were sat next to! Issue resolved when I turned it on... freezing night, radiator off..... Why?!? The food was well cooked and tasty enough, although on the lunch menu, if you want more than a bare burger and bun, it puts the cost up. The off-peak menus appear to offer great value, but the portion control and meal size is much tighter, and everything is an add-on. We had to get the bill corrected as 'the till' tried to overcharge for the meal deal desserts - something to be aware of. On the whole, the place is looking a little tired and could do with a bit of TLC. The service was good, friendly staff enough. I would call here again.

Great place for a catch up. I gave 4 for the food because although my steak was cooked perfectly, it was served with just a small tump of chips. For the price, I would have expected some veg or salad! It was a fillet and presentation was more than disappointing. Their allergy table is comprehensive.

Food was amazing, sat quite near the kitchen door and could hear swearing coming from kitchen like I was right next to them. We had our child with us so it's not nice for little ears. We mentioned this to the manager in charge at the time and she did apologise and said she'd mention it to them.

Terrible meal. Really terrible. Obviously frozen and microwaved elements. One star for really friendly service, but never again. A discount was offered, but since checking my bill, looks like the original bill was incorrect anyway so ended up paying normal price. This is a business account so will now look elsewhere away from Premier Inn.

The staff were very friendly and polite, despite the fact that the work was focused very much on one individual, who worked her absolute socks off and was very well organised and on the ball. The art on the walls was suited perfectly to the "vibe" of the restaurant, and was very creative. Our food took a while to arrive at our table, but it seemed they were understaffed, so that was understandable. It was delicious and a lot of care was put into our meal. Overall, our stay was very much appreciated, and we left with a hot meal in our stomachs, which is always wonderful. I really admire the effort that all the staff went to provide us with some good food, and I hope to see them in the near future. 🍔🍟🥞

Last review 5 yes ago and it's difficult to beat the food from then but they did it steak was perfection 🤗. Very friendly staff, actually booked premier inn thanks to the over all customer service. Ps steaks are great 😊.

Didn't appear particularly busy (although appearances can be deceptive as waiting staff did seem to be constantly on the go) but yet another experience of Beefeaters painfully slow service. Food when it arrived was absolutely fine as expected.

We had dinner here last night and the food was as good as you would expect for the price and the service was as good as you would need out for a family meal however the atmosphere wasn't very good as the place was very empty.

Meeting up with family and friends, booked table although was not busy. Service was spot on, food came quick and was hot and tasty, good choice of drinks. All enjoyed. Toilets clean

New Years Eve. Perhaps not the best night. What we had was delicious but several items not available. No garlic bread with the lasagne. Waitress was very good and patient but would gave been nice if she'd said when we ordered that there was no garlic bread instead of is having to ask where it was.

Lovely well cooked food. Friendly staff. The place was really quite unclean though. Not just a day or two worth’s either. It was ingrained.

Food was dreadfull, overpriced for the portion sizes which were ridiculously small. A poor experience and we won't be back which is a shame as we are local to this Beefeater
