Booths in Lancaster

A bit chaotic, wanted a bacon and egg bun it was 1135, sorry egg on breakfast menu which is finished. I asked isn't bacon on bfast menu, yes but that's all day. Bonkers or what! Try soup, sorry tomato not ready and pea and ham still warming. Ended up with cake and coffee. Hopeless! Staff fine, service slow. Not a good experience

We often visit and the staff are excellent. Unfortunately veggie sausages are no longer offered. When I raised this via email I was told that they wanted to make the breakfast offer more healthy and use fresh produce only. However the menu offers black pudding, hash browns and baked beans all of which are highly processed. I have tried several times to get veggie sausages reinstated. I even spoke to Edwin Booth in store who was very sympathetic. However nothing has happened

Me and my family went to the deli on a Sunday and we’re welcomed by a lovely employee called Mathilda, she had such a warm and inviting smile and left a great impression on all of us, so much so that when going there again I felt I had to put in a good word in on behalf of Booths. She recommended us Kalbach alpine creamy, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Her recommendations and customer service was impeccable and not only did she make our experience friendly and enjoyable, but she gave genuine and heartfelt recommendations that encouraged us to come back again! She gave a wonderful representation of perfect customer service and etiquette!:)

We go here a lot because the food is lovely, although the service can be a bit chaotic. Today however, we left without eating as every vacant table was cluttered with empty plates etc. I did move some plates so that we could sit at the table, but gave up when we noticed the table was very dirty. Possibly need more staff.

We used to always come here in a morning to get cinnamon swirls which they have randomly taken off the menu even though they still make and sell them in the shop. Unfortunately going to have to find somewhere else to get my cinnamon swirl fix. Some members of staff are pretty rude aswell

Terrific food and I love their cappuccino. We have been here many times and it is always great. Good selection of different foods , and always good friendly staff.

Terrible experience will never go again this is the second time I have had to complain we watiied almost 60 minits for our food they then only brought half our order they then came back and said the kitchen is now closed so could not have eggs on our bacon and egg baps we ordered by this time our family members had finished there food before our bacon baps arrived and our drinks had all gone cold wot a joke

Terrible service. Forgot syrup in coffee but insisted there were three pumps in and refused to fix. 40 minute wait for food. Wouldn't recommend coming here.

Visited at 2pm on a quiet Tuesday. Decided to try the newly advertised Afternoon Tea ( available from 11.30). After queuing was informed very brusquely by staff member that they had insufficient food for Afternoon Tea for two and that I would 'have to have a sandwich'! No attempt to offer a choice from the menu. Poor customer service and if Afternoon Tea has sold out by 2pm it needs to be re-titled Afternoon Lunch. Needless to say we didn't do our planned food shop in the store either.

Absolutely disgusting customer service, we looked at the hot food, a lady behind the counter said, are you eating in or out? We said in, she then replied with really bad attitude, the hot food you’re looking at is only take out, if you want to sit in you choose from this side, with that attitude we just walked out and went somewhere else. Absolutely disgusting place!

We came for breakfast and although there were issues with timings the food on arrival was very good, best supermarket breakfast I have had

Tried the in store cafe, for the first time today, the bacon bun, was excellent, as was the capuccino. The service was so quick, the food arrived before our drinks had been finished. There are plenty of staff, who eagerly clear tables, when patrons leave, the seating is comfortable, the place is clean. Whats not to like?

Fantastic - the staff were so lovely and made a breakfast specially for us, hardworking staff, lovely manners and will most certainly go back again. Teamwork at its best

Enjoyed coffee here whilst meeting up with friends. The restaurant was clean and tidy, as were the toilets. Would recommend using this cafe/restaurant.

We were looking for somewhere reputable to have a decent cup of tea and all day breakfast. I have always enjoyed shopping and eating in Booths but had never been to the Carnforth branch. We were not disappointed!! The tea came in a large ceramic pot with lovely large cups, plenty of milk too!! The large all day breakfast was beautifully cooked and well presented. There was too much on my plate to eat but hubby ate all of his and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. A bonus was the staff were all so thorough about cleanliness and kept everywhere spotless. We would not hesitate going back again (We actually did!!) Thank you Booths!!

Service was very good, order at till and drinks and food served at table. What a pleasant change the food was good to. Very clean and staff spot on. Hope they carry it on.

Absolutely disgusting! This place needs a complete overhaul. The ordering process is ridiculous. You get your food from the fridge and they take the sandwiches out of the packets and put them on plates. Most of the hot food isn’t even on the menu. I didn’t realise they even did jacket potatoes until we left! My prawn sandwich was not fit to eat. My husbands panini was average, my grandsons meal deal was a rip off. I did complain and got a refund for the inedible prawn sandwich. The lady that sorted the refund was very apologetic. I won’t be rushing back there any time soon. It’s not very clean either and the tables needed clearing and cleaning!

We went for two breakfasts and we told that there was no bacon .When we were finished we were walking past the serving cabinet and it was full of bacon If we had known we would have waited.

Yet again Booths has failed to surprise me. I ordered the breakfast deal of a breakfast sandwich and hot drink. The order for the drinks joined the queue alongside my condiments which had been placed on the same tray. The sandwich arrived within a minute of ordering but drinks took a while to arrive hence my sandwich was cold when I came to eat it. Is it beyond the capabilities of the staff to realise that two things ordered together should be served together.

I'm a massive fan of Booths so we made sure we headed here for a cup of tea after most other places had closed in the town. Good range of drinks, snacks and bigger meals. Breakfast was great, as was the cake. Plenty of parking too and an Aldi next door.

This cafe needs an overhaul The majority of the staff are just too slow and cant see a job when it needs doing,like clearing tables! No conversation,no smiles! Its also strange where you wait for coffees,why does it take so long! Would be easier to bring them to your table. No atmosphere at all.

No complaints really. Service was good though could have been a bit quicker, good choice of drinks including specials (e.g. pumpkin spiced latte).

Wow what an impressive modern and well stocked shop. It meets Waitrose- standards everywhere. The cafe serves great food too and was hugely popular. Ignore the nearby competition - support with worthy enterprise!

Long queue on Saturday. Everyone in front of us who wanted a sandwich paid premium money and then had to go back to thef ridge to pick up a prepackaged one that could have come from Aldi across the road. Want a cold drink at the till, certainly sir, go back to the fridge and pick up a plastic bottle. We tried the soup, took 20 minutes and the roll was harder than Mike tyson. Still it got one star as the soup was tasty. It could be good, its just the layout and menu is misleading and the younger staff seemed disinterested. Good store, shame about the cafe.

We tried to order sausage and chips for lunch and were told that chips were only for take away. I then asked if we could order hash browns and told yes, so I ordered a portion of them and when the meal arrived there was one hash brown on the plate. I would not lunch here again and instead of enjoy a cake afterwards, we went somewhere else.

Our first visit. NEVER AGAIN ! Checkout card reader faulty. Assistant stated that is not a proper card when it stated SWIPE YOUR CARD tried 3 different cards all with same result. The reader was not fixed down and was moving all over the place.Thats not the worst problem. Its the supercilious nature of the staff from the checkout person to her supervisor (who was worse) and the to a lesser extent the manager. None of which had any people skills.Its obviously the type they employ

great service and all you can wish for - even got our Lancashire Sauce here! Cafe was very busy but great selection

Afternoon tea for 2. Plenty to eat and as a booths card holder very good value for money at £12.50, 3 rounds of sandwiches, 2 scones with jam and cream, with a selection of small cakes.

Had a bacon batch here on Tuesday, bacon was tasteless and the batch had more dough than Bill Gates. Never again.

Only went in for two simple coffees and the woman in the cafe was really rude . She made it so hard work we didn't bother in the end

The supermarket has undergone a very good overhaul with a lot of very nice updates.

An absolutely well planned and executed Open Day to show off the new layout of the store on Saturday 28th July. Fun day for the kids with face painting, cake making and balloons. Staff so friendly and welcoming couldn`t fault the service. Tastings everywhere for the adults and with an excellent vocalist to sing you along. People singing and dancing in the aisles, me being one of them!!

Tuna and mayonnaise sandwich, allegedly! Very dry bread, minimal filling and mayonnaise conspicuous by its absence. Sandwiches have been going downhill rapidly recently, I will not be buying again. Coffee and cakes are good, cafe staff variable in attitude!

Reccomended to me, I brought a client from work here on the morning of the 15th may, the 2 lady’s behind the counter were lovely from start to finish, extremely polite and extremely good with the client who accompanied me who has dementia, the food was just as a nice as the staff and fairly priced too. Don’t have a bad word to say about booths cafe, well done.

Popped in for a bit of shopping and had a bite to eat. Pleasant airy cafe, not busy, with a lovely selection of cakes and snacks. Found staff friendly and efficient and it was a good cup of tea and coffee. I would certainly return.

Nice lay out. Good availability of high end grocery products.

At trip to any Booths will provide you with branded products, such as can be found in any supermarket and fresh food that can rival M&S.; Some food is reasonably priced but others can be expensive, however the quality is excellent

Called in for a lite bite, we seemed to wait ages and the staff seemed a bit stressed. Food was fine but limited. If you're in a rush think twice perhaps.

Ate here today (Tuesday 6th February) and took the soup and sandwich option. Soup was thin and salty, sandwich almost inedible. Staff were nice though, and the coffee was reasonable, ergo 2 stars and not one.

Called in here for afternoon tea. I ordered the drinks and the lady 'jumped in' immediately to say I would have to order food to use our booths cards. I am well aware of this but she gave me no time at all to order my cakes before making the point. While we were still drinking our tea someone else tried to remove our teapots, milk etc. and she certainly did not appear to understand when we asked her to leave them as we had not finished. So not the relaxing afternoon tea we would have hoped for. Will certainly avoid in the future.

More expensive than the larger supermarkets and now they have Aldi right next door they must be feeling the pinch with their much dearer prices.

A really nice Booths. Good range of goods and staff very friendly. A large easy car park. Worth a visit if in carnforth or area.

I promised to come back after 3 months and fair play I got clean cups clean cutlery and a non sticky table. Well done Booths.

We called in for a quick breakfast at 9.15. The cafe was really busy, largely with people drinking free takeaway coffee. One person went back to the takeaway machine twice whilst we were eating. I have found this on other occasions but today was particularly annoying.

Booths is the M & S of Cumbria (my opinion) they sell a variec range of good quality foids never disappointrd on the quality

I keep returning in the hope the tables and crockery will be cleaned. The staff swap a stained cup for another stained cup. The staff who clean the tables need further training. I'll come back in 3 months and look again.

I always enjoy my complimentary pot of tea (using my Booth's Card) along with my lunch or snack. The cafe is always clean and the staff very pleasant. I particularly recommend the Afternoon Tea.

Took four attempts to get a clean cup for my tea!!!! Why don't staff check after dishwasher and seal with stains by hand?

Service far to slow tea is not hot went to meet friends there for coffee and took 20 min just to get out brew staff look fed up and miserable never smile .

I must congratulate Angela in your café for her concern and help in assisting me with my recent visit to your Booths café. She was extremely helpful in finding me a seat and serving me with my coffee and sandwich.

Took a friend to Carnforth to shop. It is not my usual store. Stopped for a drink and cake. Service slow, as it is in all the stores I have visited but the staff were very friendly. The drinks and food were of a good quality as usual.

My family and I have been loyal customers of booths for many years and we all absolutely love all of the staff. But today I got very upset by one particular staff member who was actually not working there today but I recognize her as being staff. We had parked on the car park near the trolly stop, so we had lots of room either side of our car. My father was picking something up from Booths and so left us in the car whilst he went. Then this member of staff decided to park so far on top of us that even she wasn't able to get out with ease and when I looked to show my warning about scratching our car, she, along with the friend she was with, smirked. When my father came back I told him he would have to push the mirror in to get into the car. Then the cheeky young woman was coming back and in a cocky voice shouted 'We're leaving now' there had been tons of room the other side but that wasn't even the point, the point was how they both smirked about it, as a member of staff they should realize they are Ambassadors for the company they work for, even on their day off!!!

Booths is a class apart when it comes to local food and puts major names to shame with the quality of the local food available. Always look forward to going in when we are in the area and the free coffee whilst you shop with your Booths card is excellent.

This store in Carnforth was our first encounter and impressed us so much we had to shop there every day. The home sourced meats, cheeses and veg were very eye pleasing and made us salivate each time we visited. As a treat as it's a little more expensive than Waitrose but really worth the treat. The selection of all foods, wines and beers are outstanding. This place is worth more than a visit.

We are fortunate to live near to the Carnforth Booths, the choice of food much of it locally sourced. The range of ethically sourced produce is a wide one, many links to local farms means that monitoring farming without cruelty is simple and for those who " don't eat anything with a face" vegetarians and vegans, again there is a large and varied choice. Iam disabled and the staff are extremely helpful finding things for me and always offer to pack, they have an expert packer in Amy, a younger member of the staff. If you want to sit and have a drink, or something more substantial, the cafe, although small, is clean and airy, the choice of food made there on site.The booths card provides a free drink with your shopping each day with the opportunity to get a free newspaper with your weekend shopping.Who needs Waitrose when you can have Booths? Please remember that Booths is part of the fairly obtained Milk scheme.

The selection of beers and wine here is immense. Really recommend this place to anyone who fancies some luxury food shopping. Also free coffee for people with a Booths card.

Booths is always a great supermarket to wander about in, as they a more northern supermarket and I like to lazily wander around the aisles and I don't have one near me. There is always something a bit different than your usual fare to indulge in. usual. Nice cafe to sit and have a coffee if you wish.

Called in for a sandwich at lunchtime .Egg mayonnaise on offer so gave it a go Shouldnt have bothered as it took a journey of discovery to find the egg filling .I have learnt my lesson .If the price seems too good to be true it probably is!

We visited again after leaving it for sometime , allowing that our last visit was not good. It would seem that all of our previous experiences have not been listen to . We visited at 12.00 , there were at least 6 tables that needed clearing , once we had found a table ,we went to order ,at least take my position in a short queue, which to us about 15 mins to get served . Not a good experience .

Visited on the way to morcambe on Tues 1st June very imprest , very clean cafe and the toilets as well plenty of disabled parking it's a shame that the store in ilkley was not as good that needs updating badly.

Not a good experience. Tables needed clearing and cluttered with shopping trolleys when the tables are so cramped.

I go on a regular basis to take advantage of the booths card offer of a free coffee when eating in the cafe and usually take one or both of my daughters. Been using Booths Cafe for a number of years, but still can't quite work out why it takes so long to get served. It perplexes me. Staff are brilliant food is excellent, but I'm wondering just how long it would take to get an afternoon tea made as it's the full monty. We will see.

We visit the area regularly and as we stay in self catering accommodation our first stop is Booths. Local produce means there is an amazing choice of fresh meat as well as pre prepared which is useful if you don't want to cook from scratch. Staff really friendly and the cafe offers good choice of light lunches.

I call in regularly here for a soup and sandwich (Lancashire cheese variety is a favourite) and am rarely disappointed with my choices. The cafe is clean and the mocha is worth a try.

With time to kill before picking up some friends I decided to call in to Booths for a coffee and a cake the coffee was free with my Booths card the store was busy but soon got served and was enjoying my refreshments

I was due to go to a meeting near by so instead of going home after work I popped in for a coffee and was also tempted by a scone. It was very lovely. Great atmosphere and nicely decorated

If you are prepared to wait and wait for service, accept a limited range of food AND clear dirty pots off one of the many littered tables, then this is the place for you. The younger members of staff show a very pleasant positive manner, the remainder show little enthusiasm and this is reflected in the overall very disappointing experience. Come on Booths show that you care!

We popped into this Booths as we were staying at the Pine Lake Lodge just down the road. It had an exceptionally good variety of wines, beers and spirits. We were able to pick up the small amount of things we needed. However, I don't think you would be able to do a substantial amount of shopping here due to the size. Other than that, great shop with lovely staff.

Dropped of the motorway to get a bit to eat and came across Booths. Having just spent some time with friends from Lancashire who use their Booths a lot, we gave this one a go. Had to stand in line for ages waiting for the very slow service - all we wanted was a couple of pre-wrapped sandwiches, two soups and two coffees. As there don't seem to be many choices for hot food, it wasn't easy to see why things were taking so long. The seating area is quite cramped. Everything was tasty, however.

Great value breakfast as a Booths card holder you get three generous hand cut slices of granary loaf plus a free coffee for less than £2

Sadly the range of food here is limited and as far as we are concerned Booths went downhill when they stopped using Fairtrade coffee. This did surprise us as Booths were noted for their ethical values. Sadly this change has deterred us from even going there for the free coffees for having one of their loyalty cards

We went for afternoon tea.It took so long to serve us Coffee and Chocolate and then the soup. .The food is nice it just takes to long to serve. Not enough staff serving and cleaning the place.

We visit the Carnforth store frequently, and often call in to the cafe, recently the cafe is a very untidy place , the tables are left untidy ( staff disinterested ) . We ordered soup which was on the menu and were told it would be 20 minutes , there was a limited choice of sandwiches and cakes , this was at 12.30 and the cafe was open till 4.00 .To consider this is a superstore selling food why can they not keep the shelfs stocked?.Certainly not what is expected from Booths .

I used to judge Booths cafes by their flagship cafe in Kendal, but as you can be in no doubt by reading the reviews this has gone down hill rapidly. This venue, which I visit regularly, is a lot more recent but is in real need of a dedicated manager. You have to queue no matter what time you go, as only one person actually makes the drinks, and inevitably you have to wait. There is no system for clearing the tables I think the customers actually do more than the staff. The cakes and scones are expensive but the surroundins don't match the prices. This could be a great little cafe, but it needs to have a dedicated team to run it, it feels very much like an add on to the supermarket hoping that customers will spend a bit more money, with minimum effort from the store.The takeaway coffee machine area is always untidy and often needs to be replenished with sugar and spoons. A bit of tlc would go a long way. I wish Booths would give more priority to their cafes.

There are not enough people serving in this cafe. The place is very busy but customers are having to move trays in order to sit down. In most cafes the idea is that waiting staff clear the tables, but since there are only two people cooking and taking orders, this is impossible. Who is managing this store? They are not sorting it out, and booths will lose customers unless they invest in staff.
