You can get books, coffee and ice cream from here as well as a few other things. I used to love the salads here but they are gone so now I either have a ham or tuna sandwich with salad and crisps. Both are good but I would rather have a pot of mayo or aioli with the tuna sandwich than chutney. The coffee is really nice as is the ice cream. WiFi password is long and difficult so never use but I suppose that is laziness on my part. It’s always busy and staff are friendly but not a lot of competition for a quick bite or drink. I rate 4 out of 5 and would give 5 if they brought the amazing salads back.

My Aunt Violet (99) has been visiting the Book Bean for many years & introduced me to it. We always have lunch there after she has had her hair done at Trendies. The home made soups, sandwiches, cakes and pastries are all delicious. The range of farmhouse ice creams is amazing. Service is attentive and swift, the toilets are clean Its a loveyl relaxing environment in the Book Bean, do pay a visit. *** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ***

We called in here for a quick cup of tea and coffee. The menu is limited but the choices range from homemade soup to cakes. We enjoyed our drinks, pot of trea and a flat white, and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. We’ll be back.

Second time to this cafe for coffee and a browse. Coffee is good and hot, tea cake great - not burnt and dried up! Seems busy which is nice to see, would love the place to be bigger with loads more books to browse (dreaming !). Hope the events such as author talks etc pick up soon. Lovely customer service ( I think person's name is John). Friendly & welcoming, so nice to witness when too many cafes seem to think customers are a nuisance! Will definitely be back, would like option of gluten free bread and more gluten free cakes as family members visiting need this option.

Always come in for some lunch and a coffee. The cakes are to die for and a decently sized portion. Fantastic friendly staff would 100% recommend.

ordered coffee and sat outside , 20 minutes later I went in to ask why I hadn't been served - they had forgotten me. The second time they had done so this years, won't be back for the poor service, single customers not important to them.

Went in today, great service, couldn’t do enough to help. They have done so much in the shop during lockdown it looks lovely. Lots of gorgeous, unique gifts , lovely local art, foods etc definitely superior to local gift shops. Also, impressive selection of books, lots of signed copies (bought two as presents for friends) and very helpful staff ordered a book I haven’t been able to find and it’ll be here tomorrow! Highly recommend.

Popped in to enquire about a book. They managed to order me in a signed copy which I was really pleased about! Tried a coffee and a piece of cake (homemade), both were delicious so will be visiting again for them alone. Staff were very friendly and everything felt safe which is a bonus at the moment! Will be visiting when I’m Kirkham again.

A lovely atmosphere with great service. I got great help ordering a book and enjoyed a flat white and the amazing brownie!!! I went back several times during my week off to read my book and drink more coffee. The coffee is really nice and the brownies are great. The cafe is cleaned after every customer and staff are wearing visors. Very covid secure!

Called for a coffee and crumpet. The crumpet dropped butter and was good, the coffee was great too. My friend had coffee and a cake as I did not get to try it I can't comment. Purchased a book whilst there. The staff,or boss was very friendly and if you wanted a coffee not on the menu would make it. Well worth going to. Will go again when next in kirkham

A lovely cafe / bookshop / ice cream parlour.A great idea for combining different areas all for the benefit of the consumer.A great selection of freshly cooked foods and snacks, great coffee and lovely ice cream. The baked potatoes where great, hence the cleared plates. Will definitely be back as good value for money. One small point is the inability to take Scottish notes due to forgeries.Pretty sure English notes get forged as well but though the new materials etc stopped all that.

I took my elderly mum for a late lunch today at Book Bean & Ice Cream and it was a wonderful visit. We ordered a creamy vegetable soup and a pea and ham soup. They were the most delicious soups I’ve had in a long time, beautifully presented and the bread was soft and fresh.Afterwards we each had a frothy coffee and shared a carrot cake which was delightful.Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the staff were so friendly and helpful. This was our first visit and we will definitely return to this cosy cafe which incidentally sells books and gifts as well as a large ice cream selection.Outstanding and well done for making my mum very happy.

Called in ordered and paid for 2 coffees. After 15 minutes a member of staff asked in a loud & abrupt voice if we were thinking of ordering anything like we had just come. in to get warm. Very embarrassing. Then our daughter arrived. I tried to order a coffee for her and was told hot drinks had stopped being served with 30 minutes to closing. A coffee shop with no coffee . Knowing how Kirkham is going I thought customers would be welcome

Four of us, all family, breakfasted at Flapjacks on Monday morning and aren’t we glad we did. The breakfast was perfect with thick white hot buttered toast, runny eggs, lovely crispy bacon and, in fact, everything was lovely. Our Cousins hope to move to Freckleton and if they do we look forward to visiting regularly.

Myself and my friends second visit and again everything was absolutely perfect. Drinks and food were exceptional, the staff were very warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough, even the chef came to ask if everything was fine with our food, what a personal touch. The venue is dog friendly so if you like 4 legged friends you'll be in your element. Thank you for another fantastic experience. We'll definitely he back soon.

After visiting Gabriella's (same business owners) across the road and being informed that they had no breakfasts available at midday (wtf) we decided to visit Black Sheep and regretfully I won't be returning. Order placed relatively simply but this is when it went wrong. Waitress took our drinks to wrong table. Waited overly long for breakfast which was also taken to the wrong table. Then no cutlery. No offer of sauces or salt and pepper. I had to go and collect cutlery from another table. Food was cold, poached egg overcooked, bacon undercooked, toast buttered (I'd like to choose whether I have my toast buttered). Honestly was incredibly poor and we chose a local business over Wetherspoons up the way. AVOID!
