Bonta Deli in Gwynedd

Had the tomato & basil soup, spot on and cheesy toast which is just delicious. Service was excellent and the staff were very polite and friendly. The range of food in the deli is awesome.

Popped in here during our holiday on a Tuesday in north wales where very little seems to open! We loved the atmosphere, decor, menu and friendliness of the staff and that was before we tasted the food. Lots of great items to pick from on the menu and everything made fresh. It really didn’t disappoint. Fabulous tasting food, parsnip and apple couple was gorgeous , accompanied with the most amazing ciabatta cheese on toast I will be trying to replicate when I get home! As well as struggling to find somewhere open we struggle to find somewhere accesable as my husband is disabled. Although one step into cafe, everything was made really easy by the attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble. Hats off to all concerned in this outstanding venue.

Service with love. Every element of this place has a consciousness that is very difficult to find in some of the flat-line hospitality businesses. The team ooze a care that makes one feel exceptionally welcomed. The decor is chic, warm and very cozy. Salivating over the dessert....which was put together with such attention to detail. Truly, thank you.

I pop in here for a sandwich quite often. The staff are polite and helpful and always there to advise on what to have. From a deli point of view, they are knowledgeable on my favourite thing...cheese with advice on what to have, based on my likes and dislikes (not much). I love to sit outside in the Summer watching the world go by whilst eating a delicious lunch, often chatting to others who do the same. Coffee is great too. A real gem in Caernarfon...one of our many wonderful local businesses.

There was one woman in particular short curly hair that was very rude towards me and my autistic son, he’s non verbal. she told my son a few times to be quiet, which hurt a lot. This place is very short staffed, and I could make better coffee at home! This place needs shutting down.

Wide variety of deli and other related products like pickles, biscuits and beers. Very helpful and pleasant service. Well worth visiting just for a coffee.

Nice food but a bit expensive, though it does seem to be more on the premium end of things. Service took long for a take out sandwich and portions were rather small. I would visit again. Visited again and lowered the rating due to the rude owner (as others have stated), and also the sandwiches are always half filled.

The food was so unique, fresh and delicious. I had a cheese and courgette soup with cheesy bread with pieces of apple in. As a vegetarian, it was a very good menu and the staff were so friendly! The place itself is down a cute alleyway and it's well decorated and clean. Was a lovely visit!

Cannot recommend the sandwiches enough. Absolutely delicious. Prices are reasonable, ignore the negative reviews and visit!

Nothing special and over priced in my opinion. So I post my opinion and you don't like it! - £5 for a half filled sandwich and inflated prices for Scotch eggs and the sausage rolls, no I won't be returning 👎

Sometimes you just want a simple well made sandwich and a good coffee for lunch. If you are in Caernarfon, then head to Bonta Deli. It’s not in the main streets but it is well worth seeking out. The service is very good. We even had room for a small cannoli on the way out. Delicious food, prepared with care and pleasant surroundings.

We walked past and decided to stop and have some lunch and a drink. Great coffee but we had a small delay on food. The staff working seemed genuinely upset we had been waiting and could not have been more kind and generous to us (Diolch!) The food was fab and worth the wait. Would recommend this place to anyone.

What a find! Great food, great wine, great service. Very friendly staff, even gave our dog some chicken. We will be back next time we are visiting the area.

Okay so I’ve been coming here nearly three times a week for the last five years, and I can’t find a fault. They look after their customers and the produce is the best. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m picky and annoying, but they accommodate every time!

Our go-to spot in Caernarfon. Always great service, delicious sandwiches and treats, and well stocked with great cheese and local craft beers. A must visit.

The most rudest person ever that was supposed to be serving customers, all because she had been busy all day and hadn't had a break, well tuff, that's life when you're in the service industry. Don't take it out on customers. I would not spend any of my hard earned wages in this place. Avoid it, then she can have as many breaks as she likes if she has no customers

The deli was well stocked with sweets, savouries and some excellent craft beers. The lunch was great, I had soup and a scotch egg, my wife had a sandwich. All was superb and the staff were great. Highly recommend.

Had a very delicious mushroom soup with special home made cheese-bread😋 The staff was kind and the room upstairs was cozy. A really nice place.

This deli slightly off from the main street and square provides delightful light meals. My ciabatta roll was a tasty mix of beef and cheese. My friend's salad had a great mix of different vegetables. My canned raspberry lemonade was high quality. You can sit inside or outside if the weather is pleasant.

We are a retired couple who were having a day trip to Caernarfon and were looking for a suitable place for lunch. There were numerous pubs and tea shops offering traditional seaside choices, but the weather was so beautiful it just didn’t feel like a ‘fish and chip’ sort of day. After turning down a narrow, interesting looking street, we came across the Bonta Deli. There were a handful of tables outside, some in the sunshine and others in shade, and having a surreptitious peek at what the diners were eating, it looked delicious. We went inside and it was a beautiful, very traditional delicatessen, with tall shelves full of interesting goodies and a sumptuous refrigerated counter with a fine array of tempting sweet and savoury dishes. We were greeted by the staff and took menus outside. We picked a shady table for two and were advised that it would shortly be in the sun which suited us. As we weren’t driving and were feeling indulgent and were reminded of our holiday last year in Venice, sitting outside on a pretty street, we ordered a bottle of Italian Prosecco. It was delicious and set us up perfectly for the sharing platter of deli counter delights that we ordered. We were invited inside to choose items we fancied from the counter to make up our lunch, but we left the choice to our hostess, as we could tell she was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We definitely made the right decision as our platter could not have been better! The cheeses were different in flavour and texture and were the perfect accompaniment to the salami, olives, fruit and chutney. The ciabatta was topped up as necessary and we were checked on by staff a couple of times so knew we were being looked after without being endlessly fussed over. We honestly wouldn’t have changed a thing. We were made to feel very welcome and we had a special time in what felt like a little corner of Italy! We would definitely recommend a meal here and will be returning at some point to recreate this lovely lunch. Thank you for your perfect hospitality!

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Bonta when we broke for lunch from our tour. A local passerby recommended we stop in. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared. I mistakenly left my coat as our tour departed. I called. The owner confirmed my error and forwarded it to London at no cost even when I called to thank her and reimburse her for the cost and her trouble. Icing on the cake!

Fabulous food and a warm, friendly welcome. My son and I called in for a light lunch, which was made with local fresh ingredients. We were so impressed that we returned for breakfast ! Despite being a bit on the small size the deli itself has a good range of products with some really nice gluten free Italian pasta. There is also some interesting cheeses to try before you buy. They have a small cafe with several gluten free options.

We’ve stopped for lunch twice here. Best coffee in town and fresh delicatessen type sandwiches, salads, and more. Everything very fresh. Outdoor seating on a side street next to the castle walls. Across the street from a Greek restaurant.

I can not recommend Bonta Deli enough. Debs & Team provided a buffet lunch for 45 rugby boys on stag do (no easy task!). Without doubt it was the best spread I have ever seen and eaten and this was echoed by all the boys. The lads are still talking about the Scotch eggs! We had a minor problem with our meals. However, it was handled with such gracious professionalism, that we were left in no doubt of their regret, nor the value they placed on our custom. Found this little hidden gem for lunch. Great selection of ciabattas and salad bowls. I had goats cheese and blueberry salad which was delicious while my husband had cheese and apple ciabatta, with an excellent glass of wine sitting outside in the sun. Will definitely be back.
