Been here twice. Always a nice treat. The portions are one the very small side. So on a lunch menu 3 courses one still feels slightly hungry. Been to several Michelin star places. This is certainly good but not all creations are spot on in texture and overall composition. Today the warm egg yolr was good but not 100 percent thought through in a way. Theres always room for tiny improvements.

We loved our first dinner at Bonhams so much that when we returned to London several months later we went there for lunch. It's a very small, elegant restaurant, with impeccable service and truly delicious food. The first dinner we had the 7-course tasting menu, which we added the wine pairing. The wines were perfect for the food, which included a more-than-ample amount. Each course was excellent. For lunch, we opted for the 3-course meal, with a bottle of wine. And again, it was fabulous. Definitely worth the price. We will be back!

Bright, albeit small, restaurant right in the heart of Bonhams’ Mayfair flagship showroom. Had the turbot with a fine white burgundy - absolutely perfect. Bonhams actively encourage people to visit their showroom in order to promote increased accessibility - which definitely adds to the experience. Super refined; super enjoyable.

The champagne and Rose just brilliant and the setting just lovely with oodles of light and a very modern interior in an old renovated building on new bond street. The service was just meticulous as well and incredibly thoughtful. The server obviously heard I was taking my friend to lunch and had painted “happy birthday” on her dessert plate. Now that is service!!

It would be most welcome if TripAdvisor could introduce half points: in this case "only" 4 points are not enough; meanwhile 5 points should be used for the "out of this world" dining experiences. Anyway this is a very good restaurant in the Bonham auction house. The restaurant is quite small; very pleasant and light with nice art on the walls to add a little colour to the room. Staff very kind and helpful and adding to the experience. From the lunch menu I chose three dishes, starting with scallop sashimi. Quite a small yet delicious dish, and as a very kind gesture I was offered an additional (and delightful) starter with crab, apple and bone marrow. For main I had chicken with morels, which was a most delicious - and quite generous - dish. Finally a dessert, which included rhubarb, strawberries and meringue being sweet as well as refreshing. From the wine list by the glass I had champagne from Pol Roger (two snacks were served together with the aperitif), Riesling from Alsace, Gevrey-Chambertin from Burgundy, and then again Alsace with the dessert (a late harvest pinot gris). Finally I had a double espresso served with chocolate. Indeed a very delicious lunch, and I do recommend this restaurant. Thank you.

The restaurant is small and clinical and to begin with felt rather like eating in a treatment room but the quality of the food raised the experience considerably. My starter of sea urchin and cuttlefish risotto was just the right size and had a really satisfying depth of flavor. The venison was fantastic, rare and tender with beetroot and onions giving a real earthy contrast. The service was friendly but unobtrusive. It"s primary function being an auction house it has that rather pleased with itself air about it and It is pricey but worth a visit for the excellent food.

As many people have written, here you get great food quality for your hard-earned cash. We went for lunch and the thought struck me that this restaurant is very handy if you are out shopping in Oxford Street-Regent Street area. Strangely, though, it was not busy when we were there. The food was noticeably good, my main course of lamb was tasty. The wines by the glass were good, though there was not a big selection. Service was friendly. After you get rid of your coat, the actual restaurant is up a flight of stairs and is quite intimate size wise, yet it is also well-lit in daytime, which created something of an atmosphere paradox.I enjoyed the food so much I would return.

I can understand why Bonhams has its star, the food was very enjoyable. The menu is short but interesting with a focus on the quality and provenance of ingredients. The chef's previous connection with Hedone shines through in this respect (and in the quality of the sourdough - superb). Service was lacking, we must have had a trainee waitress - although the maitre-d was very pleasant and professional. Wine selection was stunning and for close to retail prices, which can't be knocked! The venue itself very much feels like an art gallery cafe, which I guess it is. But certainly worth a trip for the quality of the food and wine.

I went for lunch on my own. Had taster menu which was very enjoyable. The chef was previously at Hedone another favourite of mine. He's brought some ideas over to Bonhams, including bloody amazing sourdough! The savoury custard with crab also reminded me of Hedone. Food was beautifully presented and generally lovely. For me a tad underseasoned but they actually put salt and pepper on the table so this could easily be adjusted to suit! I enjoyed engaging with the nice sommelier who took on board my requirements very well and provided some very interesting wines. An interesting, herbal savoury Italian white being a particular highlight with the skate. All in all food and service great and I would recommend it. The dining room is quite plain but at £70 for the menu I'm not complaining.

After a sublime second visit to Bonhams, I wanted to write a review of this incredible restaurant, which is not only consistent but actually improving on each visit! On both occasions I've opted for the tasting menu, which I would highly recommend doing, with the wine flight. Bonhams is one of the most reasonable 1 Michelin star, fine dining restaurants in London - the quality and prestige of the produce far outweighs the customer's bill. The wines are phenomenal and Charlotte the sommelier is wonderful, she is exceptionally knowledgeable. The menu on the last visit consisted of innovative canapes, the freshest seafood (oysters, crab & cod), beautifully cooked and prepared venison, pigeon and pork, and the most delicious deserts. The cheese is carefully selected from London cheesemonger, Neal's Yard Dairy, widely regarded as the best in the business. It is a sensational menu, which surprises and delights at each course - couldn't recommend it more!

Modern, clean lines and efficient staff. But then comes the food, sensational is how I describe it. Popped in for lunch with a great friend. My first visit and I must admit when I was told I was having lunch in an Auction house I was somewhat surprised. You enter through the wonderfully named Haunch of Venison Yard into a smart modern bar area, I was immediately taken up to my table. Chef Tom Kemble is in charge having gained a Michelin star, the dinning area is not latge and caters for just 25 covers. The first thing that i noticed were the lovely wine glass with wonderfully shear stems.I had Isle of Mull Scallops with roasted cauliflower puree, jasmine infused sultanas, capers and endive followed by ray wing with a bottle of Saint Aubin. For pud, pear and almond tart. It was one of the best meals I have had in London since Hibiscus closed its doors. It was so good I am back there next week.

Ok the place was quiet on 5th January, I guess most of their regular clientele are still in St Barts or Gstaad. The restaurant only has 24 covers anyway but things can go wrong when a restaurant is quiet. Some great sourdough bread and lovely salted butter gets things off to a good start. A generous portion of foie gras terrine, quite rich but beautifully cooked. Outstanding roe deer with lardons and salsify purée were all as good as it gets without being overly clever. Attentive service and some very good wines by the glass. If I wanted to push the boat out with some special wine this would be the place I'd come, you'd struggle to find better value from a good wine merchant and I object to the 200% + markup most restaurants work on. What you save on the wine you can spend on a few lots at auction!

I went with a coworker that had never been to a Michelin starred restaurant. The restaurant on a Saturday evening was about half full. The only option, which I love by the way, was a tasting menu. Unfortunately, the food wasn't very good for the price. I'm not saying the food was 'bad', it just wasn't 'great'. Great is what I expect from a restaurant with a Michelin star. I didn't like the flavor combinations of most of the dishes. I thought the seafood based dishes were overly 'fishy'. Most combinations were weird and just not that enjoyable for me.One point, the restaurant is very difficult to find. You go into a courtyard to find the entrance. I walked around the block trying to find the entrance and failed. I called the restaurant to ask directions several times and funny thing was, another group that I was standing next to on the sidewalk was doing the same thing - calling for directions. I didn't realize they were looking for the same restaurant until I saw them inside. Since we couldn't find the entrance, a waiter finally came out onto the street to escort us in.I could go on and on, but in short, I would not visit this restaurant unless you've got money to burn and never eat at Michelin starred restaurants where the food is actually delicious.

If you like Bacchus and you are close to Bond Street you must try this place. I know. Why would you eat at an auction house? Because they have one of the best wine lists in London (certainly one of the best value if you want to drink really good wine) and because whoever is in the kitchen is a total genius. There’s also some nice art on the walls and it's quiet (yes a restaurant in London where you can actually have a conversation with the person sitting directly opposite). You won't even need a torch to read the menu (Did someone say Sexy Fish?). Hard to find this place, but the fact it's located in Haunch of Venison Yard just wants you to go even more.To be honest I wasn't expecting that much (I hadn't bothered reading the reviews but the menu looked good and so too the wine list). It was a set menu and we decided to have the wine pairings. We had a sherry to start. Who, under the age of eighty in London, drinks sherry? Wonderful. We then started with scallops. I hate scallops. I ate the scallops. I now love scallops. At this point I began to forget about the wine and focus on the food. Next up was pumpkin tortellini. Lovely. Almost wanted to create a distraction and lick the plate. Roast loin of deer. Yummy. A mandarin and jasmine sorbet. Life changing. Apple tart. Great. Plates the perfect size too, so didn't feel too full at any point. Now back to the wine. I want to go back for lunch and order a whole bottle of something, but on this occasion we had the wine pairings and asked to taste the wines blind. This was great fun and resulted in us having a conversation with another table and we started to swap wines. The table joined us and we talked some more about wine. We had all kinds of things – a chardonnay from the Jura, an impossible to guess red. A mysterious white. But the highlight was at the end. I think we were supposed to get a 1995 Vouvray Moelleux, but the excellent sommelier (who was clearly having as much fun as we were) swapped it for a 1947 Vouvray. Wow. 1947. Let me say that again, 1947.Great coffee to end. Great staff all night. I’ll be back. £135 a head, which I think was worth every penny for food and wine of this quality. Without a doubt the best meal of 2016. I this was my last supper I'd die happy.

We had read many good things about this restaurant (credit card to guarantee booking) it is certainly unusually situated in the famous auction house off haunch of venison yard off brook street .So it was with some anticipation that we made our way into the yard and the short walk to bonhams restaurant , up the steps through the downstairs bar - why have it if they dont offer a drink there before climbing the stairs ?Into the restaurant area a very small rectangular white walled room with some large (for sale)paintings on the walls , hushed diners along the wall , thankfully we had asked to sit side by side so we were placed thus by the first table on your rightas you enter the room- this was best unless you enjoy looking at the wall .service was very accomplished by an intelligent and friendly lady , a fixed menu of an evening-assume there is a choice at lunch . First dish flamed mackerel a little picture on the plate , very small , just cooked sliced mackerel -ok , then crispy egg with girolles -the tastiest thing we ate , then grouse perfectly tender but again just ok , the dessert - I had been hoping for feuillete of raspberries ,or the famed gariguette strawberries , sadly not on , regretfully the dessert we had was so unmemorable I forgot what it was.The meal came to a close , the very nice waitress realising we had been underwhelmed asked whether we might return for lunch , but in all honesty I didnt feel it would be worth it.Many of our favourite critics , Andy Hayler , Jay Rayner , loved it so I am left with the feeling that it was our fault it didnt excite us-except my wife who has far better taste buds than myself felt the same ,maybe lunch would have been better .

We visited the restaurant with high expectations, having read quite a lot about the chef and his background, and where not disappointed. The dining room is white, kept simple to leave decorations to the art on the walls as expected. Service is Michelin star from start to end. Not for a moment stiff, but instead rather personal. And without a flaw in knowledge and attention. Then, the food! Very gentle flavours, but still not simple. Every dish surprises in some way, flavour wise. Always with a thought about texture- something smooth, something crunchy. Not the most common main ingredients- mackerel, eggs, grouse, which makes it more fun. And he handles the meat and flesh as well as one could. All in all, beautiful, really well tasting dishes! The five courses served are big enough to fill you just to the right amount. And the great bread keeps coming, if you have a very big appetite. There is a wine pairing for 45 extra, well worth it's money. If three glasses plus dessert wine is too much for you, there is also great wines by the glass. So, came with high expectations and left with them fulfilled!

I first read about Bonhams restaurant in a blog. Later on I came across more positive reviews and decided to make a reservation. The head Chef, Tom Kemble, Had worked at Hedone in London and Faviken in northern Sweden. He is passionate about seasonality and simplicity. Bonhams is located inside the auction house on Bond Street. Service was formal but their restaurant was the only restaurant (the entire trip) that did not provide spoon as part of the silverware. Specially considering a couple of dishes had delicious sauces that could have used it.We had:Seaweed Cracker topped with Japanese glazed eel, yuzu mayo and Nori and Buckwheat Cup with Cured meatPretty good start to our lunch. The seaweed cracker with eel had the umami going and the buckwheat cup was earthy.Sea Food Salad Seared Langoustine, Porthilly Rock Oyster Tartare, Confit Lemon, Kombu and Sesame Dashi VinaigretteI love langoustine and it did not disappoint. They were briefly seared and were delicious. The dressing gave it a Japanese element and was pretty good.Luberon Asparagus with Soft Boiled Burford Brown, Watercress Sabayan, Confit Lemon and Trout EggsFat grassy asparagus were an ideal partner for the rich egg. The lemon provided brightness and acid. The trout eggs was the salty element the dish needed and the sabayan provided lusciousness.Slow-cooked Cornish Turbot, kefir Milk Foam, Bone Marrow and Beef JusTurbot is one of my favorite fishes and it was cooked just right but it had a competition from the very tasty bone marrow.Cumbrian Rack of Lamb with Pertuis Asparagus, Seaweed Butter, Ramson Coulis and Jus GrasThe lamb was cooked beautifully and thankfully it was not overly gamey. This was the dish that desperately needed a spoon so you could eat every drop of jus gras, seaweed butter and the coulis.Gariguette Strawberries with Lime Meringue, Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream and 20 Year Old Balsamic VinegarThis was the highlight of our lunch. The strawberries were beyond delicious and went amazingly well with the tart meringue. The vanilla ice cream was very floral and the aged balsamic was the cherry on the top.Lemon Tarragon Macaroon and caramelA nice ending to a great lunch. You can see the pictures at:travel4foodnart

Beware they have a set menu which might be a problem if you have food allergies. They did send us the menu in advance and they gave us a lovely pea soup instead of Gazpacho (tomato intolerance). Our main course was lamb (substitute venison as lamb was cooked with tomatoes). All courses were superb and Charlotte the sommelier/server was ever helpful, information and friendly. We choose the standard wine pairing for the five courses. It is expensive at £125 per head (dinner menu) but excellent food and interesting wines. I probably wouldn't go again for dinner having now experienced it but would certainly try for lunch.

I went here twice in a short period over February/March 2016 after hearing a lot of good things about it.This restaurant is produce driven, sourcing some exceptional quality ingredients such as Luberon asparagus and Galician beef(of which I ate both).Whilst a couple of dishes were rather unexceptional, such as crab and cauliflower and Dover sole and artichokes, the other dishes hit the mark on freshness, quality and flavour.I think the chef is bored here as the front of house staff haven't a clue about the food in which they are serving. It's a shame because of you love top end produce then you should be passionate about it.Would definitely return even so.

It's always a bit of a gamble selecting a restaurant for a special occasion without knowing anything about it. That's what happened yesterday when original plans for a birthday dinner had to be altered at the last moment. Finding Bonhams Restaurant was pure good luck - and what a fantastic experience it turned out to be. From making the reservation to receiving a call and then an email from the restaurant checking on dietary dislikes and sending the menu, the experience was faultless throughout. The space is chic and minimalist with art pieces shortly for sale lending a gallery feel. The set menu is well balanced with delicate, elegant flavours and beautiful plating throughout. Charming, attentive and unobtrusive service, a very appealing special Australian wine list for February and excellent coffee and petit fours afterwards made for a really memorable dinner that we'll be repeating hopefully some time soon. What a gem of a place!

Bonham's may not be the first thought of many when planning lunch in central London but it is a really fantastic choice. Hidden away downstairs, but the room is reasonably light (although the windows are frosted). Tables small but comfortable with proper linen. Attentive service. I enjoyed artichoke soup (very light with foam) served with a small delicious "rarebit" with truffle, and shared a special piece of pork as a main course. Wine list is good and the prices reasonable - not cheap, but reasonable considering the quality of the food which is first class.

Went here for lunch with my friend, we started in the Wine Bar and while he enjoyed a Port and Brandy (Warres Port & Hines Brandy) which he declared as excelent I enjoyed a large glas of Cinsault also excellent. Then up to the next floor for Lunch, a small Dining Room, only 24 covers but all tables adequately spaced. I had a starter of Pollack on a bed of the most deliciously thinly cut and marinated cucumber with a sauce, I followed this with braised Ox-cheek while my friend who is a small eater had a main course only of Duck Breast served medium rare. We both declared our food to be most excellent. We accompanied this with a Loire Cabernet Franc wine served at the right temperature. We did not have a Desert. The address is Haunch of Venison Yard but access to the restaurant and wine bar can also be made from New Bond Street which is much easier. The restaurant and wine bar are both beautifully decorated with a very pleasant ambience. Only thing is that right opposite the restaurant windows are large grey posters worded 'Christies - the art people', what cheek!!Not cheap but well worth the money we paid and it really was value for money, I would definitely be returning.

Located in an auction house, the restaurant was not too easy to find. As some other reviews mentioned below, tables are a bit too close and room looks sterile but I didn't find these uncomfortable. My client found this place so I had a client lunch here and we thought the food was good. Couple of months after we've been there, I heard that the restaurant won a Michelin star. The food was nice but I wouldn't have guessed that (like I have guessed for other now new Michelin star restaurants) as I didn't think the food had that wow factor. Don't get me wrong though, food was difficult to fault!

First visit to this recent addition to London's restaurant scene. Small but perfectly furnished room. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Canopies included smoked eel. Small but well put together menu, 4 starters and mains. Excellent squid and so tasty 'deer'. Great whilst onion and truffle starter for my veggie wife was inspiring, lack of inventiveness for the main course denied a 5 star award. Wine list affordable and well balanced. A brandy for £4 at the end was a steal and a refreshing change from the overpriced fare of its near neighbours. Great venue for business or romantic lunch. Our Spanish and French adjacent diners seemed to enjoy the quality !

My partner and I had an awesome lunch on a weekday. Prior to our visit, we had noted the numerous glorious reviews. We were served 2 amuse - bouches on the house. The pig's head croquette and cracker with eel were fantastic and how we wished for more. For starters, the ravioli and the scallop carpaccio were brilliant. The produce was super fresh and the flavours were intense but delicate. We wiped clean our plates with the sourdough bread. For mains, we had haunch of Sika deer with chestnut & juniper puree and crapaudine beetroot. The venison was perfectly cooked and the puree was superb. The buttered ray wing was just as superb as the venison dish. We ended our delightful meal with 2 desserts, figs and the chocolate tart, both of which were light and delicious. Service was very good. The bill was £130 which included 2 cups of cappuccino, 2 glasses of dessert wine and discretionary service charge. We also had home made salt caramel nuts on the house. Overall, a magnificent dining experience and we shall return soon.

as our experience was somewhat different. The tables are really, but really close together on one side of the room. We were put at one of these despite being only the third or fourth table to be occupied and, yes, we had booked. The next couple were shown to a similar table but refused and were given one on the window side instead. We should have done likewise perhaps. The menu is short, very short and offers no set lunch, only a choice of four starters, likewise mains all at prices that make a full three courses start at about £40 plus service. So definitely not cheap. And there was nothing in any of the choice offered that I remotely wanted to eat - starters were mackerel, scallop. venison carpaccio and burrata I think. Decided to skip starter and go straight to main so ordered gnocchi for my wife and pork chop for me. After a long wait I asked one of the staff if we were going to get these as we had nearly finished our bottle of house rose (£28 plus service and I think the cheapest on the list so wine not cheap either) and they did eventually turn up. The pork chop was so fatty I could not eat it and in fairness we were not charged for it. In fairness too, I should add we were given a glass of dessert wine "because of the long delay". I did not have a pudding, my wife had a singularly uninteresting fresh fig and sorbet (?) that simply looked uninspiring and cost £8 plus service...So we emerged, me hungry having eaten nothing, my wife having had said gnocchi and figs, and both the rose wine. Bill? £60+. That will pay for the "3 course" lunch with amuse bouches, four starters, main, three desserts, half a bottle of wine, coffee, petits fours and bottled water at the 2* Lecture Room round the corner at Sketch....

The sommelier chose me a fabulous glass of wine which I foolishly didn't note the name of - Charlotte, if you can remember what it was please let me know. It is quite difficult to find - the entrance being in Haunch of Venison yard off Brook Street for the evening reservations. I thought the food was delicious, the wines very reasonable, the staff charming but the room was rather sterile and the air conditioning far too cold.I am sure that it gets really busy at lunch time both in the bar and restaurant which would certainly add to the atmosphere.

We had lunch here last Friday. We had not booked but were lucky enough to get the last available table. Entrance was through the Haunch of Venison yard, just off South Molton Street. It is very modern with lots of wood and stainless steel. There are a few tables downstairs by the window with a bar/counter.Upstairs is light and airy, same décor as downstairs. It is fairly small and I would guess seats about 30 covers. A limited menu with 3 or 4 choices per course. It was difficult to chose as we both wanted the same thing and there was only one portion of pigeon left so my husband being the gentleman he is, let me have the pigeon and he had the skate wing. We both had the crab to start. It was a fantastic meal! My husband is an excellent cook but was overwhelmed with the skate, so lightly poached and delicate and my pigeon was pink very very tender and a delicate non-gamey taste, best I've ever had without a doubt. When our plates were cleared we passed our compliments to the chef Tom who came upstairs a little later to see us. He explained how he had poached the skate and we are going to try to copy his recipe this weekend. Almost forgot to mention the wines, which you could have by the glass from really good expensive wines - we will return but I know the menu changes frequently so may not be able to have pigeon again, we will see

We went for a birthday treat and it was. It's quite small and wasn't full on a Monday lunchtime. There was quite a short food menu plus an extensive wine list. We had a bottle of the house rosé, excellent, and shared our starters and mains for that tasting menu experience. Excellent service throughout. The gaspacho with smoked eel and mustard ice cream was gorgeous and the courgette flower with crab starter delicate and interesting. For mains we had the monkfish (delicious) and duck breast/confit. That was lovely but the berry jus was a little violent if you were (like my wife) moving on to monkfish. Then we had a carafe of house Cote de Rhone (excellent) with cheese and left feeling like we'd had a real gastronomic experience. £160 seems a lot for a lunch for two but it was very enjoyable and some people blow that on jewellery or gadgets in an instant.

was invited here for lunch during the week. Only one other table was occupied which was a pity as the space needed people to come alive. The restaurant is in a remote courtyard off Bond Street within the newly refurbished HQ of Bonhams the auctioneers. The chef is highly rated so thought we would try it out.The lunch menu was simple in terms of few choices but was absolutely delicious. You could taste the quality of the ingredients and the presentation made it taste even better. The chef is undoubtedly on a journey upwards and this restaurant should be on every foodies list. The focus is largely wine and they make a big play of their extensive wine cellar and on wine paring evenings. Will certainly go back, even if it is out of my way. Management need to get the restaurant on the map either through offers of by some serious corporate targeting in the area. It will pay dividends

Poor before we had even eaten. Taking my Mum to enjoy Beef Wellington, her favourite dish, I phoned ahead a few times to ensure one was available. Just before I arrived at the restaurant, they confirmed it was available. We sat down in an empty restaurant, rather inefficient staff. We were told there was no Beef Wellington, so I pointed out that one was put by. Then we were told they could make one, and it would take 40 mins, to which we said would that be 40 minutes or could it be longer ? On visiting the toilet I heard the chef say ‘if they wanted one, it might take 45 minutes’. Nobody wants to be considered a nuisance in a restaurant, so we decided to take our custom elsewhere. Having travelled all the way from Hampstead to enjoy Beef Wellington, my Mum’s favourite dish, we left & ate elsewhere. Sadly not beef Wellington.
