I don't often write reviews. But after this experience I've got to. I can honestly say that this is the worst Indian restaurant that I have ever visited in my lifetime. The food was totally disgusting I'm sorry I didn't take a photo. After 10 minutes after the food arrived we couldn't believe it. We asked to speak to the manager or the chef and we told them what we thought about the food which I couldn't say on here. We refused to eat it and decided to leave.when we were leaving my wife decided she needed to use the ladies.when she came out she said she couldn't use it because the toilet bowl was absolutely disgusting plus the was used toilet paper all over the floor. I am that furious about this place I've decided to report them to the local health authority. Please do not visit this place. It's absolutely disgusting . How they haven't been closed down is unbelievable. Avoid at all cost believe me. Go to Bridport that's we done and had a beautiful meal

I have eaten probably over 500 curries in my lifetime all over the UK. The best curies are in scotland for some reason and parts of london . This is an exception as its in rural dorset. But its one of my family's all time favourites. excellent food ,new too greasy and the chef's specials are worth trying. Not cheap but worth it

We got a take away from here last week, food was all very nice. Our main gripe is they don't take cards, as the village doesn't have a cashpoint it can be difficult for customers to get cash, I think they are losing a lot of custom through this and told them this.

After searching for a decent Indian restaurant/takeaway for nearly 10 years in this area we were so happy when we found this one a few years ago. It's always been perfect but the takeaway we had on 24th January was so disappointing. The naan bread was tiny, the potion of chips was also very small and the curry portions seemed to be smaller too. Also no complimentary poppadoms which we've had before every time we've been. The person that we always used to be served by left a few months ago so I don;t know if it's to do with him leaving. Such a shame as this really was the best Indian for miles around.

We visited here while on holiday. I don't often visit Indian restaurants while on holiday as living in Bradford means we have an abundance of excellence nearby. However this little gem could compete against the best of them. We went on a Thursday for the buffet special offer. Plenty of choice and decent portions. The sag paneer side was delicious, plenty of cheese on the cheese nan. The chicken tikka in the pasanda was well cooked, moist and tasty. It's a shame it's a 5hr drive from home or this would be my new regular! The staff were all welcoming and I would encourage anyone to give this little gem a go you won't be disappointed!

For a small historic town such as Beaminster to have a really good Indian restaurant is amazing. We eat there almost every week as we live locally. Lovely cooking with subtle flavours from natural ingredients. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The chef at Bombay Spice will fine-tune the recipe of any dish to suit your tastes if required. We prefer less salt than most in our Indian meals. On one occasion they remade the same main course three times for us to find the balance of flavours and low salt that we liked at no extra charge. It's really good food and they really care. If you want average Indian food, served slowly, with a rude waiter, this place is just right for you. We arrived at 6.50 pm on a Saturday evening, and got our meal at 7.40: as you can guess, their problem was prioritising takeways. When I went up to the desk at 7.30 to point out we'd been waitng half an hour, the waiter followed me back to our table and harangued me in front of the rest of the clients, telling me half an hour wait was reasonable, etc. He came back later to apologise, but by then my wife wanted to crawl uner the table and told me I shouldn't complain....

Perhaps it's just me but it seems that when a place only has one "Indian" restaurant then the food is always bland. Maybe because they are trying to keep everyone happy and don't want to put people off by serving things too spicy?Big mistake in my opinion. That pretty much sums up my impression of Bombay Spice. I'd ordered one of the house speciality dishes, I think it was the King Prawn "Tangar", described on the menu as "hot, sweet and sour". OK it was tasty enough but certainly neither hot, sweet nor sour, just a sort of generic curry sauce, the sort you can buy ready-made in any supermarket.Service was OK but note that it doesn't have an alcohol licence - not a proplem since the local Co-op across the road is open until 11 and has perfectly good bottles of Cobra in its chill cabinet. Not just bland but a tad on the pricey side too, for what you get. Also note that they don't take cards - but once again that's not a problem since the ATM is 50 yards, or so down the road and there's one in the Co-op as well.

Can highly recommend and will definitely visit again when we nextcome to Beaminster. M & D Harris Bristol

Thought we would go out for tea and this was the only place open on a bank holiday Monday night and I'm so glad. Had a great time, food and staff were excellent. A license would give it a 5

For a small restaurant this is so good. We visit most weeks and have never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to please. We always take friends/family who visit us and they are of the same opinion. Love this place!

The food was excellent and the service friendly and professional. I like the idea of taking whatever you want to drink with you as this helps to keep the price down

We were the only couple in the restaurant. We went with our own beer & wine (as they are not licenced) and had a lovely relaxing meal. Staff were very attentive to our needs leaving us to enjoy each course without being rushed. Superb meal. Don't let the non licenced put you off.

Wonderful restaurant. The food is fresh and well cooked and is actually better than my regular currey houses in London. cannot fault anything I had bar the peshwari nan which was just on a par with an average curry house( but stilll good). What is really good is that the food is not at all greasy so you feel its much healthier than a typical curry. You nned to take your own boozw which is good but have to pay by cah which can be a bit awkward ( though there is a cahspoint 100m away). This is by far the best curry house in West Dorset and I would guess probably one of the best in the South West

Been several times and never disappointed , the food is always perfect , it's not a licensed restaurant so if you want to take any alcohol with you there is no corkage charge. Also you cannot pay with any card so cash or cheque book is needed.

Food ordered recently (as a takeaway) was prepared within the timeframe given (25 mins for a meal for 2 people), piping hot, cooked well, and tasty. Complimentary pops and chutney were also included (just remember to take your chequebook or cash, as they don't accept payment by card). Subtle music was playing in the background in the restaurant, and several tables were already full of diners. Would definitely recommend.

Whats more it has some intersting dishes i have not had before. Not cheap but well worth the money and if you like curry doubt you cna get better in west dorset

The second visit to this excellent restaurant. A friendly welcome and good service. A really interesting menu with many dishes not often found, such as Nargis Kebab, (a sort of Indian scotch egg,for those who have yet to experience it!). Also signature dishes including Scallop bhuna and lots of fish. Superb relish tray accompanied poppadoms. My Jumbo King Prawn Shaslik (from the tandoor) was priced at £12.95 and arrived sizzling with what I would describe as butterflied langoustines and generous amounts of onion, pepper and tomato, and furthermore, a really fresh salad. Other dishes pronounced very good by my fellow diners were lamb pathia and a creamy Kurma. Tarka daal was excellently garlicky. No corkage charged for your alcohol. Do remember to bring cash or cheque, a small price to pay, so to speak, for a very enjoyable dining experience.

The first time I've had Indian for Sunday lunch, The staff are friendly and service was good. Not the best Indian I have had but OK, I had the chicken tikka shaslick which was tasty. Portions are generous and the garlic nan was lovely. You need to take your own alcoholic drinks but they sell soft drinks

The staff make you really welcome, and there's a good choice on the menu; although it's not particularly cheap. If you're planning to eat in the restaurant you need to take your own beer and wine as its not licensed. You also need to take a cheque book or cash with you, as they don't accept payment by card. The restaurant could benefit from a bit more atmosphere, perhaps some background music. It offers a good takeaway service, and you get complimentary pappadoms with your orders.

We only visited this restaurant to get a rather large take away order and the food was just about OK.However the experience put us off visiting for a sit down meal!Firstly they do not take any form of debit or credit cards, what restaurant in this day and age conducts its business like this!Secondly, and I suppose it's due to licensing regs, they do not serve alcohol, or even invite you to bring your own like some other unlicensed establishments do.The overall feel is rather uninviting to be honest, maybe they are just trading on being the only Indian restaurant in the area, sorry but a bit disapointing.

We had a superb supper last night. The Taj Mahal really is back up to its old excellent standard. It was almost full—on a Tuesday evening—which speaks for itself.

My first experience of this restaurant although I’ve heard great things from a friend who lives locally. On this occasion we had a takeaway. My chicken tikka Marsala was delicious and I enjoyed the poppadoms with pickle pots - a first for me. I hope to return when next visiting Dorchester and have a full restaurant meal.

New owners and what a great meal we had. Currently living in the Midlands and we have a superb range of great curry houses. Not often I come across a menu where I want to try such a range of dishes, it took us ages to pick our choices. They do all of the usuals from tikka Madala to Rogan Josh. In addition there are really interesting Indian dishes including lobster, squid and beef rump. The three of us chose 2 starters and 3 mains between us. The trio of chicken was delicious, even though one of them was bright green! The lamb strips were fabulous, like a minted red current jelly lamb with an Indian twist. If you like a rich slightly sweet curry the lamb and apricot could be for you. My sis had the lamb shank which just fell off the bone. Ann loved her New Delhi chicken which was creamy and full of flavour. The Naan was some of the best I’ve had, light and crisp and the mushroom rice was another triumph. We will definitely eat here again, I’m a real foodie and this was such a lovely surprise, great food, £21 a head with drinks, bargain!
