Bombay Delight in Merton

Unfortunately I went here for my birthday with family and friends and the food was underwhelming. I was expecting something truly amazing after seeing and reading good reviews.

Amazing food, great service, got my order wrong but served me an equally delicious paneer dish and didn’t charge for it! Great atmosphere.

Superb, I have to say it was the best Indian food I have very tasted. The staff were very friendly and overall a lovely evening.

Fantastic place - highly recommend. The food, service and personal touch exceeded my expectations and was exceptional. The people there are great and the food was along the best for its cuisine. They even brought out a complementary desert at the end to commemorate a special occasion.

Disappointing. We came here based on the recommendation of a restaurant reviewer. This made the disappointment all the greater. The lamb biryani cam with a dough crust and the lamb itself was nice. The rice could have been more moist, but overall, above average. 7 / 10 Papadums were OK, but the chutneys were unimaginative and below average tasting. 5 / 10 The chilli paneer starter wasn't very nice; the paneer should be *lightly* battered before frying, and then cooked with enough spices and other ingredients to take on *some* flavour. 5/ 10 The korma was possibly the worst I have ever had. Grainy bland gravy with unpleasant (almost foul) tasting chicken (needless to say we didn't finish it). 1 / 10. The Peshawari nan was falling to pieces, and a little too sweet, otherwise OK. 6 / 10 The worst thing on the menu by far was the Sambar curry. Simply awful, watery, bland. 0 / 10 Skip the house beer. 4 / 10. I hope very much that this was an off-day and not representative of their usual level. It's one of few local Indian restaurants in Wimbledon.

Over priced for what you get not my cup of tea only went for my mother's 60th. One person in our group has become ill. I won't be coming back. My father left as after waiting for rice after our mains was served. Another thing to be aware service charge of 12.5% is optional but will charge you without asking.

We had a wonderful evening at the restaurant – the atmosphere was lovely, and the food was absolutely delicious. The only small downside was the noise, which made it a bit difficult to have a conversation. A special thank you to our waiter, Pavan – he was incredibly attentive, friendly, and responsive throughout the evening. His excellent service made our experience even better. We would definitely visit again!

We were welcomed in and seated quickly. The food came very quickly aswell. The lamb chops were some of the best I’ve ever had and the butter chicken and tikka masala was just exceptional. The staff were lovely and plus they also gave us great chocolates at the end. Overall, Fab-u-lous

A little gem of Indian food in Wimbledon! Food was so delicious, we took tandoori broccoli, onion bhadji, butter chicken, aubergine and narvatan tandooris. Unbelievably good! The waiters are very friendly and the place has a cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Great venue and so many options for desi starters / chat. The mains are standard affair but the variety of starters is what stood out to us. Service was prompt and overall we were happy with our visit

The most authentic Indian experience I've had in London. The atmosphere is very nice, staff are incredibly friendly. Food has so much good flavour. The chicken korma comes with chicken thigh and not breast which is what I am used to just a warning but was still delicious. Highly suggest people visiting.

We ordered a takeaway vindaloo and korma with mushroom rice. Every piece of chicken was cheep thigh or other brown meat no breast at all, The vindaloo was just like hot tomato sauce no depth of flavour or potatoes, no care gone into the cooking of any of it, even the korma was spicy and runny with all brown bits of chicken probably left overs. All the popadoms were broken up pieces. We put the entire take away in the bin. Never 👎 order from there again.

This is our 2nd order of takeaway from this restaurant. The 1st time it arrived late (over an hour) and cold. We ordered again PURELY on the basis of other reviews. This time the delivery was prompt & food warm. However we were disappointed with the quality. The dishes we opted for had LARGE lumps of meat - just how is the sauce supposed to flavour large lumps of meat? The lamb was so tough that we thought it must have been mutton. My curry tasted nice, but the nan bread was tiny (round and about 7'' across). I usually struggle to eat all my nan bread, but this was gone in minutes. The meal for 2 cost us over £40 (no starters, rice or dessert). We don t think it was value for money, so we wont be ordering from here again & we certainly wont book a table - shame as my extended family are all of indian descent.

At best average. The food came to the table within 5 minutes of ordering which I always find strange …. Portions were very small. We had 2 x meat dishes, both were very dry. It’s very expensive for what you get. On the plus side, the service was fast and friendly and the chocolate we got with the bill was delicious

Delicious! I had the Mumbai ka chicken curry, which had 2 chillies and that was perfect! Hot but not ridiculous. My other half had the saag aloo and the lamb angara. We also had a garlic naan and a garlic & coriander naan. Loved them all!

I recently visited this restaurant again and this was my third visit that I had previously regarded as reputable, but my experience was deeply disappointing after their. After dining there, my group and I suffered from food poisoning. When we reached out to the restaurant to provide feedback about our unfortunate situation, we were met with an indifferent response to address our concerns and insisted that all their food is always fresh. However, the food we were served was clearly old, with a stale taste that confirmed it. Given the severity of the issue, I expected a more thoughtful response, but instead, we were dismissed. The lack of concern or accountability was shocking, especially for a place with such a strong reputation. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed my view of the restaurant, and I won't be returning. It's disappointing when a restaurant ignores valid customer feedback, and in this case, it’s enough to make me look elsewhere for future dining.

I am very disappointed with my recent experience at thus restaurant. After dining there, I unfortunately developed food poisoning, which completely ruined my meal and left me feeling very unwell. The quality of the food seemed to be the issue, and I strongly encourage the restaurant to improve their food safety and hygiene practices. This was a concerning and unpleasant experience

I recently visited this restaurant with four others, and sadly, we all experienced food poisoning after our meal. Four of us became severely ill, and I personally was in horrible condition for two days, unable to work for the next two days due to the sickness. I tried reaching out to the restaurant to address the issue, but the response was extremely disappointing. The person who answered my call was one of the heads of operations, yet they neglected my concerns not once, but twice, and didn’t take any action to resolve the situation. While I have to admit that the service and other food items were generally good, the chicken wings we ordered were definitely spoiled and old, which is most likely what caused the food poisoning. I won’t be returning, and I would advise caution to others. The lack of responsibility or care from the restaurant after such a serious issue is incredibly concerning.

We have our third time visiting the restaurant.we just felt that quality of the food was totally dropped.we 5 got food poisoned.

We had a brilliant experience at Bombay Delight for a birthday meal for 12 people. The staff were really polite, attentive and considerate. The food was excellent! The quality of everything we ordered was outstanding. They even picked up that it was birthday meal and kindly brought us a free cake with a massive sparkler candle! The atmosphere in the restaurant was great. I will absolutely be returning! Special mentions: monkfish curry and tandoori broccoli

Decided to try this place expecting authentic Indian food like the ones we usually go to in Tooting. My wife and I were disappointed because the dishes were obviously made more palatable to non-Indian clientele. Service was attentive and friendly although we initially had a slight problem ordering from one of their newer (we assumed) waitresses. Next time, we will just go back to our favourite Indian restaurant in Tooting.

Still.. the best curry in SW London. Love the theatrical Fish trolley, I chose the trout, cooked with a sauce of your preference. We also had the BBC- legendary (in our view). Great service from Pavi and the whole team. We keep going back..

Amazing food. We often get takeaways from Bombay Delight but this is the first time we visited the restaurant on new year's eve. It was packed but the service was great and food outstanding. The chicken tikka, seekh kebab, lamb rogan josh and cheese naans were the highlight. The staff were very accomodating and friendly. Can't wait to be back! Thank you for a lovely evening.

Good menu selection with lots of veggie/vegan options. Lovely atmosphere and good service. Plain naan is the best, beautifully done, Peshawari naan a bit odd. Wouldn’t have it again.

Despite booking and being one of the first customer for a Friday evening, the service was a little rushed. Thankfully the food wasn't. We arrived around 6.30pm and it was a Friday, so we knew it would get busy. Indeed by 7pm, this eatery was packed. Definitely one to book in advance. We were offered, almost immediately, the option of ordering from the catch of the day. Lobster, prawn, crab. Politely declined and ordered our meal. The food is good here; authentic tastes, variety of flavours and plenty to eat. The naan breads were OK, nothing special and a little small. The rice was cooked evenly. We went for the house special curries , all piping hot, whole breast of chicken and more than enough to go around. And half way through our meal, around 7.30pm we were asked if we had finished when we clearly had food on our table. Then ten minutes, same again. And finally, having felt like we had been rushed we left a 8pm. I would not say 90 minutes is a long time to stay at a table and enjoy good food. Clearly our waiter did. Would I go back, yes the food was very good for a local restaurant. Perhaps too busy to cope with everyone being sick of turkey after Christmas. I'll give them another chance.

We love this restaurant from food to service. We are regular customers for any special ocassion. Although every time we visited this place, we take good memories with us, however this Christmas visit along with my family which was turning out to be another great visit, turned out to be an almost disastrous one when my wife almost choked...We requested a waiter by name JANICE to get a 750 ml of still water, We waited 10 mins and no water arrived, finally my wife had to take the last sip of our kids water glass to get relief. The entire experience which could have been yet memakable one, turned out to be the worst because of one person. Whilst we were leaving, this waiter came around our table to clear a table next to ours but didnot even acknowledged and stood unhappy without even smiling. Seemed like being INDIAN another Indian was discriminating another indian. Lastly, we would like to thank Manager Vishal for his unmatched hospitality like always and also Pavan who was very professional in his job. A gentle advise, please provide trainings to setvers like Janice some trainung on as how to smile and uphold the service standards in an upscale restaurant like Bombay delight before the restaurant loose some valued customers forever.

Yesterday, I had the sheek kebab as a starter and the chef's signature murg hariyali masala for a main, with plain naan and pulao rice. Everything was really tasty and well-presented. I also had the house lager which was a great accompaniment. All the staff were very friendly and attentive, and I have already recommended this place to friends.
