Bombay & Co (Restaurant) in Cheltenham

First walking into the restaurant, the decoration is really cool, I love how it’s decorated with items like cricket bats and gloves representing India’s national sport and bright colours. Waiters and waitresses were very attentive and kind welcoming us into the dining area and offering us far far snacks (which were tasty). The food itself was probably the best authentic Indian food I’ve had, getting to try panipuri was a bucket list item for food which I’ve got to check off, and the railway goat curry was my first time trying goat and I am hooked! Unbelievably tender and the curry was flavourful and spicy!

My husband and I have been to Bombay and Co many times now and we cannot recommend it enough. The atmosphere, the food, the service with a smile... whats not to love about it? We really enjoy the food, and I especially love their coffee which I always order at the end of my meal, served in a little claypot like cup (melamine actually). Its an experience. Dont miss it! Bombay & Co without Vadaa Paav!!! Seriously? Th restaurant has a beautiful theme of Mumbai and good atmosphere to make you feel Desi. वड़ा पाव is written on the Walls but not in the menu though that item is soul of Bombay. It’s like taking the soul away. Food was OK. Kadhai Paneer was full of added colour which was disappointing. Cutlery could have been kept clean. Staff (who took the order) could have been more polite and warm. If you ask me, will I go again? I would say “may be not”.

Buffet food was not very warm. In fact some were even cold. It was not kept very well and had been sat around in the tins for a while. Unfortunately I wouldn’t return as we both had an upset stomach the following day. However the staff were lovely. The restaurant was clean and lots of choices to choose from. This may have been a different experience from the main menu.

Service is disorganised, food was mediocre and lukewarm.

I tried vada pav it's very bad experience thats not a Bombay style vada pav which I expect they don't give me chilli nd that chutney is not for vada pav I think it's just bread with boiled potatoes no flavor

The food is tasty and the portions are large. The price is reasonable. The restaurant is brightly colored. You have to book in advance.

I have visited this place for couple of weeks and have tried most of the vegetarian dishes. The food quality is really good. If you visit this place, I would surely recommend trying Pav bhaji.

Always amazing food and service

Update 11/01/2025:- Oh dear! I've had to knock 2 stars off my general rating of one of my favourite restaurants. With other dishes, my husband and I ordered a mutton curry. Usually lovely but a piece of meat I ate had a splinter of bone inside which stuck in my gullet. The meat was cut up using a bandsaw and probably not washed properly. I tried to regurgitate it in the ladies loo without success. Some of the staff were very concerned and tried to help including the owner/manager who advised to eat unchewed cooked rice but not once did he apologise. Today 12 Jan was spent mainly in A&E - camera down my throat, X-ray etc. Bone's gone thru' my system but has torn my esophagus. Scary! Update 20/04/2024:- Went last night with friends and the place was buzzing! Service was very good and our orders were filled in good time. We asked for a medley of starters and the kitchen's choices were all great. Apart from a mains order of lamb cutlets that were alittle tough, all our food was cooked well in fact and presented nicely. There was a birthday celebration upstairs on the balcony which added to the busy Mumbai ambience! Can't wait to return 🙂 New photos added! Update 03/12/2023:- The restaurant's moved and I felt it might have lost some of its previous buzz but put it down to being a late Sunday afternoon and quite empty. Portland St is much nicer tho' than its previous High St location. The new mutton curry is a great addition 😋 Very nice modern take on a trad Indian restaurant which included afew Bombay/Mumbai classics. Welcoming and helpful staff. Good atmosphere.

Went here on new Year's Eve had booked a table using there website. Food was lovely ❤️ Staff went above and beyond and made sure everything was perfect. Got Biriyani as take away... We ordered Vada Pav, Chole bhature, pav bhaji and chicken biriyani. The Pav (Bread) used in Vada pav was extremely fresh and soft. Bhatura was really authentic as well ❤️ Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try authentic Mumbai street food.

We love Bombay & Co: the flavours of the food are just amazing. We went to the Sunday buffet recently, having not experienced the new format I think they brought in a couple of months ago. There were many starters including dosa cooked right in front of you - and bhel pouri which is always a favourite. The main courses were also plentiful and the nan bread delicious as always. We hadn't expected there to also be desserts but there were several different ones, all in small sizes which was excellent as we had all eaten well by then. You could revisit the buffet as much as you liked! It was excellent value at £14.95 per person. Such a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Street food from Bombay in Cheltenham in a brightly lit and decorated restaurant with murals on the walls; very good. Alot better than we expected. The restaurant is spacious, the tables aren't right on top of each other. The service was very good, the food was excellent and wasn't expensive either. To start with i had the spicy chips, then for my main I had the railway goat curry, with a little more spice, which was lovely accompanied by a portion of pilau rice and a stuffed nan with lamb kheema, also very good. I accompanied my meal with a couple of glasses of a fruity Malbec red wine, which wasn't too shabby either. Four of us dined with starters and mains plus alcoholic drinks plus tips for £140; which wasn't bad as we had a bottle of prosecco, a couple of glasses of Malbec plus a couple of Jack Daniels & cokes. Nice atmosphere. Very popular. Good food with service to match. Not bad value for money either. Modern Indian dining. Was recommended trying an array of authentic Indian street food. It did not disappoint! I would recommend to try something different compared to your usual Indian balti house.

Just had food at bombay and co, what a lovely experience. The food was tasty fresh and vibrant. So much choice and plenty of it. The waiter recommended dishes to us and everything was delicious. I would certainly recommend going there you will not be disappointed.

I have dined at Bombay & Co many times and always am really impressed with the food, atmosphere and service! More recently I had Bombay & Co catering for my Mum’s 70th Birthday party for 60 guests. They organised the catering so efficiently , it was delicious and set up very well at the event- it all went very smoothly and the team were brilliant! Best curry I have ever had!!!!!!!

I’m always satisfied with this restaurant. As someone from Mumbai, I can attest that the food is truly authentic and full of rich flavors. My favorites are the lollipop chicken and chicken tikka, especially with the sweet mint sauce. We often have the same waiter, who is always welcoming and hardworking. I also love the new location!

Amazing! The food here is so delicious, fresh and innovative. The staff are so friendly and attentive. We recommend it to everyone who needs a restaurant in Cheltenham. It's also such good value for money in a sea of overpriced eateries. We've been coming since they opened on lower High Street and every time it's brilliant. Try the bhel poori, Pani poori, momos and butter chicken. The desserts are also incredible 👌🏻

Liked everything except chicken lollipop and butter chicken. We felt that they are reusing the same oil for other dishes because chicken lollipop and Amritsar fish fry taste the same because of the oil. Very disappointed with that. All other’s was good except this problem..

Takeaway, absolutely rubbish. Don't really understand all the explanation they gave in about us like serving authentic and all. Pulao rice was just under cooked rice with turmeric and curry with under cooked potato. Curry taste was no better than cheap ready to eat curries from supermarkets

Authentic Indian taste. Fast service. Nice and vibrant vibe. Very close to Mumbai taste. Must visit for curry lovers. Loved the variety of chaats with topped with sprouted moong beans.

The all you can eat on a Sunday is amazing I recommend

The street food here is so good! There are so many options to pick from. My favourite being the Shieka Lamb. The service was slow at first but after the first starter arrived it was very quick. The atmosphere was amazing there were decorations everywhere. It really made me feel like I was in India.

Great vegan options, definitely some highlight dishes. A place to bring visitors, and maybe scrap your next weeks Sunday roast as bombay and co has a really nice chill vibe for a Sunday afternoon/evening. Book I advance for Saturday and Friday. Try the Vangi Masala.

If you looking for Indian food in cotswolds then this is the place, Amazing Vada pav and other street food, nimbu soda was highlight in drinks, and creative interior.

Never thought I can find authentic dhokla and fresh jalebi in this part of the world ....all food is freshly cooked and not warmed from the freezer and as you step in you hear all 90s Bollywood songs ..... बस मुड़ बन ही जाता है।

Starters very good, was looking forward to main Oh what a disappointment, had goat curry my wife had the lamb gosht both very bland & couldn't really tell the difference between the 2 dishes.

First time we've been to this establishment and we had driven a far distance to get there (a few hours). We ordered Punjabi samosa, crispy onion bhajis, masala chips, mixed uttapam, paneer harayali, pau bhaji and chilli paneer. Pros : crispy onion bhajis, mixed uttapam, masala chips, pau bhaji and paneer harayali were good. Cons: the chilli paneer had a temperature variation throughout the dish. It felt like uncooked paneer had been put in their sauce. Punjabi samosa weren't great in taste. Limca and thumbs up seem watered down and flat.

It was an amazing experience with this restaurant. And the nicest thing is Mr. Tanvir. Such a nice and attentive guy.

Enjoyed a really authentic and delicious meal at Bombay and co with our family. Chicken lollipops were super fresh and flavourful. Chat dishes were yummy and authentic. Chicken and mutton biryani was delish and the lassi was fresh too. The gentleman who waited on us was really honest about their portion sizes and was very good with helping us understand the menu and suggesting dishes to our taste. They even gave us a complimentary mango lassi! Toilets could be improved. Other than that, really enjoyed our meal!

Really bad chai & paneer had too much food coloring

Overall good Experience as the ambience is very good (reminds you of Mumbai) and service is good but the food taste & quality has opportunity areas. Pros + location + very good ambience with posters etc + courteous staff + helpful team in explaining menu + good number of vegetarian options + chaat options are there Cons - there was no parking space of the restaurant but we could park closeby as there is nearby paid parking (1min walk) - food taste was not upto our expectations as compared to similar indian restaurants. - we ordered momos and those were cold (as if we're kept in refrigerator) we had to send that back for reheating, which they did

This place has the perfect chaat that will instantly remind you of home! I ended up ordering almost everything, and the fresh sugarcane juice was phenomenal! It's absolutely amazing food that I haven't seen anywhere else. 2 of us dined, and we chose 7 different starters with the help of staff. We both left completely stuffed! I honestly can't describe how incredibly delicious it was and will definitely return. I rated the atmosphere as 3, only because it was lunchtime, so fairly quiet😋

BEWARE - They can serve you spoiled food. Ordered Pav bhaji and it was definitely spoiled (though other dishes weren't). When we mentioned about it, both the waiter and manager were unapologetic and defended it. Eat at your own risk!! Not coming back again!

Was looking for good indian food around and someone suggested this place. It was a relief to have the amazing “chatakedaar” food. Cannot had enough fill of the Dahi poori. Dal makhani and butter chicken was amazing. Would hv been awesome if they serve some sweets after such food as well. Hope they will do soon!!! Thanks for the yummy experience

I ordered food pav bhaji and samosa chaat and ragda petite. But the taste of food was worst at all, it was extremely spicy, just felt like it’s only chilli and garlic inside eventhough I am Indian and habituated to spicy. However, I would never recommend to anybody for food. Service was also okay not much friendly staff.completely disappointed by taste.

This is a very different experience of Indian cuisine. Very sociable and very enjoyable. And the décor has been beautifully done with bright murals - there seems to be a bit of an elephant theme. Ordering several small plates to share across the table means you can try many of the delicious dishes. The Ragda Patice and Lamb Keema Pav were big hits - as was the Railway Goat Curry. The service is excellent and the staff give you sufficient time to enjoy what's on the table before asking if you'd like more. Not too busy on a Wednesday evening, and it was only towards the end of the evening that we realised that there was a massive group upstairs! A very enjoyable evening - and we'll be back.

Went on Friday night as recommended by our apartment hosts in Cheltenham. WOW is all i can say - the mixed starter platter and main courses were delicious and the staff very knowledgeable and friendly. we will return.

My family, friends and i have been travelling from Worcester to eat here since the first version opened. The food is consistently incredible and its always worth the trip.

Have eaten here before at previous location but first time in the new one and still just as good as before. Food genuinely outstanding with a wide variety of options for vegetarians too, service very prompt and polite and overall a more than fair price too. Couldn't recommend more especially for groups like us with the shared dining concept, will hopefully return soon.

The food was very tasty but we was a large table and didn’t seem to have the biggest portions. Railway curry is a must have price was what you would expect. Please upgrade from plastic plates and don’t just microwave the cheese on naan bread.

Attentive friendly staff . From the outside it does not suggest what a great place it is . My biryani was the best i have had for a long time . New years eve was super busy here but every dish was great. We are defo going back!

I'll be honest I expected much more from this place. The rest was mainly full which is normally a good sign but the food was extremely bland. All that was fried tasted exactly the same and the Masala dosa was dry bland and well boring. The 2 curries at the end saved the meal a bit, but they were pretty uninspiring aswell to be honest. I'd probably try again but there are other places to try first.

The food and service was amazing especially thanks to Tanvir Ahmed who helped us a lot and his behavior was nice.

A great venue and location. Lovely staff. Starters were nice but we were underwhelmed with all the main courses which each lacked the depth of flavour you’d expect from Indian food.
