Comida vegetariana india genuina.

Let's face it it's not gourmet indian but it's cheap and fairly tasty. There were about 5 curry dishes to choose from as well as rice, nan bread and a selection of salads, pickles and popadoms. I had chick pea and potato curry, some vegetable curry and some tarka dal. The tarka dall was really nice, the pickles, nan, onion bhaji and pakora were good too but the rest was very sloppy and watery. They bought out a fresh batch of korma and it look watery as they poured it in to the hot pot. If your on a budget and want an ok meal it's not a bad shout. We read since visiting that it only has a one star hygiene rating but it looked clean enough and the toilets were clean.

Bombay Aloo is a compact 100% vegan Indian buffet right in the centre of Brighton and was just right for a quick, tasty and wholesome curry meal before a concert at the Dome. Why do people prefer to queue up in 'Big Multinational' burger joints..... Very good value and a fair choice of dishes - being a buffet you can try some of each.

Genuinely the most disgusting Indian food I have ever attempted to consume. The Korma is a bland, cabbage filled vegetable soup with the consistency of water (see image), the saag aloo is a watery, flavourless slop, the samosa are lumps of undercooked pastry. Abosultey revoluting and inedible food, utterly shocked that Indian food can be so tasteless. Stay well away.

I really wanted this review to be so much better. The whole concept of a vegan buffet restaurant serving Indian food just appeals so much. By no stretch of the imagination could I ever be described as vegan but as I have discovered the food can be tasty and filling. Whilst the curries were tasty in themselves we found them to be quite watery. Rice and flatbreads were the order of the day to mop up. Mind you the onion bhajis and potato pakoras were absolutely superb. I would go back, but not for a while.

Pretty rubbish eat all you can buffet for 6.99. Vegetarian restaurant so if you are a veggie then there may be some interest for you but in all honesty it is a rather sub par buffet with greasy starters tasteless un-seasoned main courses and please don't order wine with the meal as they put water and what tasted like ribena in the red wine. Truly awful place terrible food and nothing positive to say except maybe the price. No. On second thoughts not even the price. Sorry!

Went today after having not been in at least a year and was so disappointed. Server was quite rude to us when we explained we didn’t have a buffet but insisted you must declare first so he can “follow you around”. Went to toilet and the back of house and toilet downstairs was pretty grim / dirty, the taste of the food was fine but average Indian takeaway. Definutely won’t be back especially with such amazing competition elsewhere in brighton.

We have been coming here for a number of years and the food has always been of a good standard with a wide selection of dishes. However this visit was spoiled for a few reasons - (i) we were initially told our 3 year old could eat free but on settling up was charged £4.95 because 'he ate too much and left food on the plate'. Another group sitting outside claimed their children were not eating but when we left they were tucking in from their parents plates! (ii) dont get suckered in by the house 'wine' at £9.95 a bottle - it is awful, some kind of alcoholised grape juice by its own label admission and (iii) noticed the waiter flattening out piles of rice with his uncovered hand. No wonder many people have stomach issues after eating here.

Immediately I went inside and told the man, he laughed, I said you have to treat all customers the same and I felt quite humiliated as he obviously didn’t trust me!!

Bombay Aloo was my first ever Brighton dining experience, many years ago before veganism hit hold. They recently put up the price, which they quickly reduced so I went back. I didn't think £8 was fair. I went tonight and it was awful, oily, hard rice, old pakora, stale naan awful. I had to fish for the lonely potato, yes potato, pieces in a watery sag aloo. I ended up leaving and ending a ten year affair with an establishment. Shame on you.

Its a good atmosphere, remind a me about a pub to be frank. I have to acknowledge the food price is very cheap, though it certainty does not come with quality. I am myself living in Leicester and have been to such places all my life, and the food there is much more authentic. I am not sure what to say, but i had a good very very basic Indian, I would not come again though, perhaps the other vegan restaurants are better. No encontré ninguna carne!

After being told about this place as a purely vegan restaurant I thought I would give a go, we were seated, then when we asked to be moved because we didn’t want to be near the door, we were moved to another table, midway through eating we were told to move to another table as the one we were sitting on was booked. When asking for a another plate I was given a dirty one, food looked like it has been there for certainly more than 3 hours and to top it all off the bill was wrong, after paying i was told that they had under charged us. Heard a lot about this little Indian buffet and was very excited to try! So I decided to pop in last week for a late lunch with my partner! The starters (although only two), poppadoms and salads were lovely, so I was excited about the mains. I wanted them to be great but unfortunately, they were very watery and lacked flavour, naans were also a bit soggy and very tasteless, there also wasn't much choice. Neither me or my partner left feeling satisfied, rather it filled a hole. Although £6.95 is cheap for an all you can eat buffet, it actually wasn't worth that. Gutted to say, we won't be returning.

Visited Bombay Aloo on two occasions now. Always walk in and sit ourselves down as the staff are always in the back doing something else. We know it’s a buffet but wouldn’t mind a bit of service ie asking for our drinks orders. I asked the water for a jug of water and we just got lemon water in a pint glass .. Not what we wanted! Service aside the food is really tasty, for the price it’s so worth it for lunch with mates or a cheap date. pakora was delicious had so many, but seemed a tiny bit greasy. Sag Aloo was over cooked and tasted like soggy spinach. Potato and chickpea curry and the dahl were really tasty - would eat those again. They only served pitta bread no naan - this was disappointing as you always need naan with your curry! Complaints aside it’s a good cheap eat and we will come back for a budget lunch - not the best but not the worst. Bhajis are so good!

I have been here several times on visits to Brighton, most recently for lunch before a show, as I knew it would be quick and tasty. They offer an all you can eat buffet, with around 6 curries, along with rice, bread, bhajis, salad, poppadums, and chutneys. The thing I like most about this restaurant is that they clearly label everything, and there is a notice saying which items (1 curry and a few starters/snacks) are not suitable for vegans. This is often a problem I have with buffets, as I am unable to easily see what I can eat. This system makes it incredibly straight forward, and I am able to quickly get my food. It is incredibly good value, particularly for Brighton; you can get a hot meal here for around the same price as a takeaway meal deal at some of the other shops.

This is the best value I got for my money (Foodwise) in my entire Great Britain trip in July 2017. This place had an insanely cheap buffé that knocked us away with good veggie currys and warm bread and rice. some deep fried items were also on the buffé. everything that was supposed to be hot was really hot, and I am usually quite picky with that (germophobe) and everything cold was really cold. There were atleast 6 different currys on the buffé. I am not a Vegetarian myself, infact I LOVE meat, but I didn't miss it at this restaurant, it was just full of dishes to try. I tried to sample all the dishes, but I got so full in there they almost had to roll me out! I lovethis place

I have to admit when I first went here I was so blown away by the 'happy hour' price of £3.99 all you can eat, that I raved about it to everyone. However, when I returned again I realised that the quality of curry is very poor. The full price buffet is now up to £5.99 and I thought I'd check it out again in case the food had improved. It has not. The curries are watery and bland. They all contain potato and are hard to tell apart. The onion bhaji and naan bread are dry and the potato pakora is overly greasy. The rice is also plain. When your favourite part of the meal is poppadoms and chutney, something is probably wrong. I'd urge people not to get distracted by the all you can eat deal for a low price, because I'd honestly argue that they are charging too much for chunks of potato swimming in slightly flavoured water!

its easy to say that a warm/hot meal for 5.99 is not bad a price for brighton, but unfortunately this time it was not. The waiter slumped across to me as uf he wanted to be somewhere else and looked bored out of his mind. He showed me to the table and then went back behind the counter, no would you like a drink or this is how you get your food, so went up to get my food. The sign for the restaurant says choose from 20 different items, only 9 items on show are actually luke warm or hot. The rice and the nans(very strange tasting), and the fried flat discs(not sure what they were) were almst cold and thediscs had gone all soggy. The vegetable curry was hot but had virtually no taste whatsoever and no spice. The chefs special curry was chunks ofswede and a few other veg in the same bland sauce. The chaana dall was mainly large chunks of potato with a few chickpeas thrown in and a bland yellow sauce. The saag aloo was the consistancy of spinach soup and again blind folded you would nort have been able to day what it was. The tarka dall was probably the best one but again had no spice or flavour to it. There may have been one other curry but i cant recall so must have been very forgettable. All the other items on the menu consisted of salad items or pickles and chutneys and a few bits of diced apples and diced oranges with the skin still on flooating in water. The waiter came over after about 15 minutes to ask about drinks and once you got your drink he disappeared behind his counter again. I think that as a vegetarian restaurant customers are being sold short as the hot food is not good and is the least amount of food served here. The waiter did not want to be there and it showed(maybe he was embarrassed to have to have to fill up the containers with the food). If you are looking fora good vegetarian curry house this is certainally not the one

Awful! We have been going here for 20 years and now it must have new owners as this experience was terrible! Such a shame our favourite place to eat has been ruined. Hard undercooked Vege. Bland no flavour. Soggy undercooked bhaji, horrible rice, nann that tasted like it had come from tesco value packet!!! No atmosphere and rude waiters.

Everything tastes the same. It was all a bit watery with no texture. Everything had a big cinnamon stick in it and was at the sweet end not spicy. It is however very cheap and friendly so I'm not rating it poor

This is definitely and average Indian restaurant and we only tried this buffet as it had only just opened at 12 midday and thought that it would be fresh and not hard like the bread was The pakora style items were just Potato and most was very watery The server was not very good at interacting or speaking English and there was no atmosphere in the restaurant at all - told to sit at a small table for 2 even though the restaurant was fairly emptySeen this here for a number of years and thought if visiting - done it now - would I return - probably not

Price is good but food quality reflects that. Sauces are watery. Samosas are only potato and very stodgy. The nan bread was rock hard. The server does not interact but seems to watch every move you make, maybe she thinks you will try and take some food away with you. I hardly ate anything. The loos are down in the dungeon and my shoes stuck to the steps on way down. Yuck!

Visited on a Friday night, like we used to, was always fairly busy, not this time. There was only one other couple in there, no welcome from the waiter (well i presume he was, as he just pointed us to a table,) put our plates down and left us to it. No drinks were offered, we had to ask for a glass of water, as they have no alcohol licence, (although i believe you can take your own for a small fee) Bearing in mind this is eat as much as you like and having visited frequently over the last 8 years or so i was hoping for some different dishes seeing as new owners have taken over. There wasn't... The dishes were the same as before, nothing wrong in that but i tried a bit of every dish and they all tasted the same. Bland, I can only think the Chef was having an off day. Baghis were cold, Rice was hard and crunchy in certain mouthfuls. The restaurant had no atmosphere it felt cold and really couldn't wait to leave. I'm sure it was an off day but won't be hurrying back.

Nothing amazing or fancy, but it's so cheap for what you get. You get to choose what you want, and the food is good!Staff were friendly too and the atmosphere was quiet and chilled out.

Clever planning. Dishes on burners in the window, enough tables to be cosy, super service, well labelled for allergies and vegan.Salads for raw foodies. Eat what you will for £5.99. It was enough for us but breads and drinks available at small extra cost.No fuss, serve yourself and enjoy the low volume service. Delightful girl served us.

All you can eat veggie Indian cuisine. I didnt try everything, there were so many choices. It was all fine but nothing was really spicy or exciting. All a bit bland really, but lovely staff and good value. The very kind owner gave food to a homeless guy who came in and asked for some. It was a bitter cold, miserable night. What a lovely gesture.

The food has gone downhill from when we last visited! It was cold and lacked authentic Indian flavours. No alcohol license. More of the cheaper ingredients, like potatoes, less of more interesting ingredients, like chickpeas.

The food is bland. They have not got the spices right. All the curries taste alike. Low on salt, spice. The mix veg curry is just set of cut vegetables with some salt & pepper with absolutely no Tadka. Horrible taste. Not Indian at all. The white rice was dry. The Tarka dhal was one of the most awful dhal I had ever tasted. They heated up some ready made naans instead of providing preparing fresh naan/roti from Tandoor. On asking, the guy said he has no idea as he did not check with the Kitchen. Then he admitted that they have a problem with the Tandoor. The place is cramped. They steel lids do not hinge on and you have to place it on some other dish. No space at all. In summary, awful experience. Just DONT GO if you like to have tasty Indian food.

I visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago with my mum and niece. It was part of a Christmas present for my niece along with a visit to the Theatre Royal.Well, first things first - it is freezing cold in there. Clearly the place was built without heating or radiators but a couple of free-standing heaters would have been a simple solution. We were welcomed and given hot plates for our food. When we ordered drinks they didn't have the tea I wanted. We went up to the 'buffet'. I am not sure how they count twenty items (they must be including the mango chutney and raita and popadom chips) and the choice is very disappointing. As mentioned in other reviews, it seems to be a variation on a theme of potatoes and carrots in not very inspiring sauces. There wasn't enough rice and naans and admittedly we should have asked for fresh. The rice was tepid as were the curries. And the onion bhaji was pretty much cold.My niece was pleased with her choice of chickpea curry. And that is the best thing I can say about the place. All in all a very disappointing meal and we only went because my niece has recently turned vegetarian. But never again.

This small vegetarian Indian restaurant is tucked away in Ship Street and has been there for many years! offering a loyalty card if you visit on a regular basis. In all the years i have been going to eat here for under £10 for two eat as much as you like buffet the price has only just gone up slightly!! Great choice of starters with the best onion bhaji and deep fried potatoes, then onto vegetable curry and many more delights, finishing with fresh fruit salad. Great Value for money, also serves beers and soft drinks, more tables upstairs, although toilets are downstairs!!
