We ordered a takeaway a tikka, it was not a tikka it was 6 Lumos of chicken done in a pan. The nan bread was disgusting it was dry and cold not fresh. The Bombay was potato with curry sauce worst I have ever had. We have had take outs from loads of times we will not be returning awful. In my opinion I wouldn't go again.

A pretty okay meal that we waited a very long time for. I asked for my curry to be hot, it was mild at best. We waited an hour and twenty minutes before our food came out. When I asked for the bill I was asked if I had cash because there was a problem with the card machine...

Booked a group on voucher for 2 course meal which we purchased ordered the meal plus rice and Nan breads came to pay the bill which was £18 pound did not question it and payed as was not sure what was included my fault yes as should have Checked voucher but on arrival home checking the voucher does not state if rice and nans are extra so rang the restaurant and queried this upon talking on the phone there was a lady who said will get back to you put me on hold then cut me off so called back and a gentleman answered asked my query upon explaining this the gentleman shouted for the lady to calm down and I could here saying don’t know what he on about in quite an aggressive manner the gentleman explained what what’s included which was not what we were told but just thought these people are just out to get your money not bothered about your experience towards your visit so believe me we will not return and be telling everyone we know about this restaurant

So for £15.95 to me this doesn’t qualify a mixed grill ,yes naan a rice came with it ,but many other places you get a larger amount of meat also salad a sauces ! So we wasn’t impressed. Also ordered garlic a cheese naan that was very doughy and this seemed very small to other places. And crinkle cut chips was small portion .Not impressed sorry won’t order again also glad as was going to book a table a now we won’t be doing this .

We visited Bollywood for a birthday celebration and everything about the visit was 5* The service was incredible and Jaz went above and beyond from the minute we called to make the booking to us visiting the restaurant. The food was delicious and you could tell it was very freshly prepared. We will definitely be returning. Thank you

What a bloody shambles ordered on just eat told to pick up at 5.20 .got there only to be told they don’t start cooking till 5.30 waited out side till 5 .50 then food baught to car outside only to find coke missing at 8 .15 the same night we had a text saying our food was ready to collect a total cockup

Food was ordered at 5.12pm. food then didn't arrive until 6.50pm. I was initially told it'd be delivered at 6.15pm. when it didn't arrive, I enquired. I was then told it'd be delivered at 6.45pm. the food was finally at 6.50pm with no acknowledgement of lateness from the driver. This was a simple order within a 2 mile radius of the restaurant. the food itself was nice enough.

love bollywood its our go to! cant reccomend it enough but tonight the buna tatsted so salty jus over powered and wasnt enjoyable and i order at 7:30 came at 9pm so was a but gutted

Looking forward to visiting for the first time Sunday 28th April - was recommended to us by our Son, turned up for pre booked 5.30pm slot only to find restaurant closed, no signs of anyone!!! Resorted to phoning at 5.45pm chef from the kitchen answered and lead us through back entrance! Plonked us on very small table, it was cold and dank, we waited another 10 minutes, still no sign of front of house staff, we got up and walked out! Good job we didn't travel on the bus or would have been stranded for 1 hour!

I intend to visit an Indian restaurant this evening, unfortunately the only menu available for Bollywood is a photograph. The prices are almost definitely out of date, as the picture is 5 years old

Disappointed as everything was perfect apart from the chicken in the curry, which so dry it was unfortunately inedible.

quality has really gone down following the reopening of their closure. chicken tikka masala used to be full of big chunky chicken, its now smaller fewer pieces floating in very watered down tub of sauce, after plating it up there was literally hlf water floating on my plate that separated.

Hidden Gem! Such phenomenal service and food. Tandoor chicken is absolutely delicious! Best food in derby. They are incredible sweet people and the service makes you feel at home.

Very bad experience to this restaurant! I get a chance to visit kitchen of it as chef is my friend but i saw many disturbing things which i think health and safety department should take care of it! Chefs used to smoke and didnt wash hands just make food !

Went to Bollywood with a friend. Got a warm welcome. Place was clean and modern. They have a good rating for hygiene. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Plates were hot and the food was delicious. Paid £16.95 for a starter, main meal, naan and coffee. Overall we were very impressed. Plus free parking right outside. Definitely recommend.

Curry described on the menu as medium, was so, so mild and disappointing, served in a cold dish and cold plate. Mushroom rice was hot and delicious. The worst thing was, the heating was not working and the restaurant was freezing cold. Diners were eating with their coats on. Small fan heaters, but very ineffective. A disappointing experience.

Amazing experience. We came here to celebrate my husband's 60th. The food was delicious and all the family only had positive feedback. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Ordered a chicken tikka starter amongst 2 other currys. My only complaint is paying £4.95 for 4 pieces of chicken tikka. As nice as it was. Don't think it was worth it. The curries and the sides were great.

Went to treat my parents for a meal, place looked good but the food was a let down. Took ages to get served, had to call over the waiter a few times and he had forgotten a few things too so waited longer. Starter was good, portions for the price though aren’t worth it in my opinion, starter for 2 was probably more for 1. Mains came out and looked good but after a few bites found some unexpected hairs in the curry, bought it to their attention and they denied that it came from them and the staff but none of us had long black hair. They made it again fresh to take away, but at this point everything else I ordered went cold and to waste. Then got the bill, which was still at full price at this point I couldn’t be bothered so paid but I will not be returning ever.

Food was excellent. Ordered from here regularly whilst living in Littleover a number of years ago and lived up to the high standards I remember.

Cold breakfast was sent to us, both female staff had their hair open in the kitchen, poor hygiene and very small food portion, desi breakfast was so tasteless and cold , as its their family business i dont want them to fail, hence why giving 5 stars but i would not go there again as the food was super cold , hopefully the owners will take the review seriously and will sort their food and hygiene issue out..

Hornbeam We ordered online which was straight forward. The order was delivered about 15 minutes early by a polite and friendly delivery driver. I then rang the restaurant and suggested a sauce was hot rather than medium. My family later said people’s taste varies and it probably was medium. However there was no hesitation; a milder sauce was delivered as well as 2 extra poppadums. The meal was excellent. Thank you very much for good food and excellent service.

I was this place and honestly I am very disappointed. Sitting area was not good. Food quality was poor and very small portions.

Very bad quality! Rice is uncooked, no salt. Ordered Rajasthani Lamb Handi but there’s only mushroom & capsicum in it. Where’s the meat? Also if you’re sending the order through new driver, is it the customer’s responsibility to give right directions to my house? I’d to wait 15-20 mins outside just to ensure the driver arrives at right destination.

As always, the food was great. We pre-ordered by 3 hours, but the food arrived 30 minutes late. You need to be more honest about your delivery capabilities guys!

Absolutely love bollywood been using for a few years now but tonight im so disappointed the food was cold, chips were soggy, this is the first time ive had any issues usually the food is piping hot and beautiful

Conveniently located off the A38, the Bollywood Indian Restaurant has the makings of a good eatery. A charming, welcoming entrance, waiting area and welcoming staff are a huge plus - as is the interior design and decoration. Nevertheless, the glitz and glamour is let down by so much. 1. 15 minutes to finally get a menu for a party of 9. 2. 30 minutes for Poppadoms to finally arrive. 3. A further hour for main courses to arrive. 4. The waiter had no idea which dish was what. 5. One dish was served twice whilst another was forgotten; the forgotten dish arrived 5 minutes later and tasted 'not-bad'.... just tasted of 'nothing.' A supposed rich cardamom sauce tasted like thickened gravy with a touch of ground white pepper; supposedly a 'hot' and flavourful dish; so did they just throw something together and hope I didn't notice. 6. Value for money; £15 for a main course without rice? Rice dishes served looked suspiciously like supermarket steamed flavoured rice's al a Uncle Ben's... 7. Whilst really nice to have finally have a place playing atmospheric Indian music rather than pop, R'n'B or elevator music, neither my partner or I could actually hear family members speak across the table as the music was excessively loud. 8. A loud fire-alarm sounded half-way through the meal for about 2 minutes. Whilst clearly it was set-off by a 'sizzling plate' - no announcement was made by the management; no 'please evacuate' or 'please don't worry' announcement... This is the second time I have eaten here for a large family gathering; whilst there are plenty of staff, service has on both occasions been not very good; the food whilst not 'bad' per se, is absolutely nothing to write-home-about; and it is I'm afraid, over-priced, overly-loud and over-rated....

A very nice Indian Restaurant where you take your own booze. Good food, good polite service, very clean and reasonably priced.

Absolutely terrible! The manager was rude and had anger issues. I asked him a simple question about one of the dishes and he started lashing out on me. Never going back again needless to say the food was all undercooked and the chicken was pink as if he wasn’t rude enough he was trying to food poison me. I wouldn’t go back there even if it was the only place open in derby. However the scenery was beautiful so would of expected the food and service to level up.

Absolutely terrible service I waited an hour and a half for my food and the lamb donner had maggots on the bone I showed it to the manager I was very upset he changed racial slurs at me and told me to get out the restaurant bystander stood up for me and my wife and children absolutely terrible service

Waited 2 hours to be seated the server was extremely rude we had an allergy so the manager came out and screamed at my son for asking if the pasta could be made without cheese then the drinks came in a dirty glass and when we asked for a different glass they smashed the glass infront of us would never eat here again would NOT recommend

Was really surprised by this as I was recommended that this place was good, I picked up the order and didn’t take too long to come out. When I got home my partners curry had a hair in it and there was about 5 or 6 peices of chicken in the madras. Cost £43 odd quid aswell so that was the worst bit. Expect a lot better if your paying good money. So yeah last time I’ll be ordering from here. 👎

Big group of us, good service, food ok

Took 2 hours for food to come out. Which was cold and not very nice. The onion rice was boiled including the onion (very weird and tasteless) and the staff looked like they were not happy to be serving us, they threw most things on the table. And still forgot food by the end of it. Granted we were a large group, but when I went to the bar to get some pop, I heard other people complaining they had the same issues all evening. I didn't eat my food it cost me £25 just to be there.

I have ordered food from Bollywood a few times now and always enjoyed their food, however when I ordered today I felt like I received their Sunday left overs. The quality of food was not the same, I ordered via uber eats and paid £7 for fish pakore, and only received three small ones and didn’t even get one full popadom. I have previously ordered these items and not had an issue with the portion and quality. For the amount of food and quality, it was not worth the money, after being a repeat customer I would re consider ordering from here again.

Prices increased and portion sizes halved. Rip off. One chicken korma only had 4 very small pieces of chicken. Barely enough rice. sauce watered down. Not for me thx.

On time best curry house in derby for me

Visited 12 months back and had a lovely meal. Glad to see that things haven't changed and they are still providing a great service.

Brilliant food, lamb dub dhaba was excellent. On 2nd occasion had mixed platter and rajastani lamb no complaints

I didn't enjoy the food. The korma was horrible very thin consistency and was very bland. Shame as I've ordered in the past and was lovely.

I use this restaurant frequently and it’s always been excellent both to eat in and for takeaway/ delivery. But tonight the food wasn’t up to their usual standard and I hope this is a one off . I don’t want to damage a small business and I Will order again but as I know they can do so much better I write this review as feedback and hopefully Bollywood take any criticism on board and take steps to maintain their reputation for quality food cooked well

Takeaway disaster we ordered food at 5.15 it arrived at 7.30 after numerous phone calls as to it whereabouts even spoke to the manager after 7pm who just said we shouldn’t have been told it would arrive within 40 minutes. But 2 hours 15 minutes is a joke with no offer of discount we’re very disappointed ☹️

I don't normally leave reviews for takeaways, but this place annoyed me enough to vent my frustrations! We've never tried this place before, but kept saying we should every time we pass it. Big mistake. The food arrived late. The order was wrong. I rang up. They answered eventually, but it was hard work trying to get them to rectify the mistake. I had to spell it out to them that, surprisingly, I would like what I ordered. Customer service is distinctly lacking. My partner also commented that the guy was rude. First impressions are so often key, but clearly they don't share this view. My other half had his curry and mine rocked up just over half an hour after I rang. I didn't finish it and I never leave food, so that's how bad it was. It was an overload of coconut that made me feel like it was more of a dessert sauce than a curry. Just not nice at all. The naans weren't great either. Neither of us were impressed, so based on this experience I would not recommend. We'll definitely stick to Balti international in the future.

45 minutes for delivery to 1 hour 15 minutes wasn’t a big order. When the food arrived I can’t say it was anything to shout about, wasn’t overly hot, even warm I struggle to see why it was that temp when we are only 10 minutes away from the restaurant. The poppadoms weren’t even crispy like you’d expect, they were soft and not edible. I can’t say that I will be a returning customer which is a shame really.

It's not as good as it used to be. Portions smaller. It's not very hot in temperature. And the room was cold. We won't be rushing back.

Amazing food, really tasty and hot. Although we ordered a lot of dishes, and on a busy bank holiday weekend, it was delivered within 50 mins (a lot better then other places in Derby!). Only recommendation is that there should be something thrown in if customers spend £50 or more. Anyway we’ll be back! Ordered through UberEats!

Nice curry fast friendly delivery

Ordered a takeaway. Arrived promptly, quicker than notified, and it was still hot. And by far, it's one of the best Indian takeaways my sister and I have ever had. We were blown away. To say it was tasty is an understatement! And fantastic value for money. If I could give more than 5:stars, I would.

Supervising waiter rushed us to leave because other customers are waiting. Did people through the lockdown forgot about good service and good manners? I felt like in canteen not like in restaurant. We wont be coming back again.

I recently ordered from the Bollywood Restaurant on Hollybrook Way and was quite disappointed with the quality of the food I received. I ordered a Chicken Tikka Starter priced at £4.95, which was underwhelming, with only four small pieces of chicken without any salad or chutney. The curries, which included 2x Chicken Tikka Masala priced at £9.95 each, and a Chicken Korma priced at £7.95, was quite watery and lacked any discernible taste. The Bombay Potato Full, priced at £7.45, and Chicken Tikka Masalas were also disappointing, as they were flourless and without any notable spice. The Chicken Korma ordered for children was even worse and tasted gone off. The sides of 2x Pilau Rice priced at £2.75 each, 1x Chips priced at £2.95, and 2x Cheese & Garlic Nan priced at £2.95 each were average, but they did not redeem the overall poor quality of the food. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the food from Bollywood Restaurant on Hollybrook Way. The bland Chicken Tikka Starter, tasteless curries, and bad-tasting Chicken Korma made for a disappointing experience. I would not recommend this Indian takeaway to others.

My daughter wanted to come for a curry for her birthday, we chose Bollywood because of proximity to our sons school, but we are so glad we did! The best curry we have had since we moved to Derbyshire by a country mile and the manager Jaz made a huge fuss of our daughter for her birthday. Super food, super value, we will be back!!

Everything about our meal was absolutely fantastic... the best curry I've had in a long time and I don't know what they do with the chips but they were spot on. Everything was cooked to perfection and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed.
