Bold Street Coffee University Green in Manchester

Good place to have a bite; however the coffee prices are high for the amount they serve. Please rethink the sizes of the cups especially for Americano, thats what i had, other than that amazing food. I like the eggs and avocado toast.

The barista has become even more engaging recently, with a man with curly golden hair who seems to bring a playful, creative energy to the coffee-making process. He was working with the milk, creating lots of steamed milk foam, which added a unique touch to the atmosphere. The place felt vibrant, not messy at all. He handed me the coffee with a warm, genuine smile. The taste was different, but in a refreshing way—smooth with just the right hint of bitterness. I think this cafe is worth visiting again, and I’m glad to share this feedback to encourage continued growth! I’m really not a nice person generally, but the barista had me turn a new leaf like James Stewart in It’s A Wonderful Life.

Coffee is very nice. Staff are friendly. BUT music can be very loud and really unsuitable for the time of the day etc. (Loud party music on Saturday morning!). So if you want to relax one morning on the weekend, this place is NOT for you!

I was served milk instead of oat milk when asked for oat latte, on a Sunday week of 6th October 2024. As a result, gotten severe lactose intolerance which hugely disrupted my chores of caring for others amongst many others. Wrote to them via email and social media and received no response after 5 working days even. Won't recommend and won't go there anymore.

Good quality! But they’re taking the piss with the sizes. Coffee cups too small and baked goods are getting increasingly small. 2.50 for a cookie the size of my fist (I’m a girl) is crazy. Coffee tastes great though! Baked goods are generally delicious but sometimes over cooked.

Bold Street Coffee in Uni Green is a gem! The coffee is consistently top-notch, with rich, bold flavors that impress every time. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant, making it the perfect spot to relax, do work or catch up with friends. Their brunch menu is also fantastic. Highly recommend for coffee lovers! Special shoutout to Lucy, Cal and Liz for it making it amazing every time!

The staff at the University Bold Street are exceptionally cheerful, friendly, and accommodating. The coffee is great, and there's always a buzz in the shop if you need a place to chat, or even to work. BSC at UoM wouldnt be the same without Amy, Liz and Lucy!

Bold Street Coffee is my favourite place for coffee and study on campus! It has such a nice vibe and the staff are all lush - especially Amy, absolutely fabulous barista and so friendly!

CONSISTENTLY amazing coffee, this is so big for me because I hate when cafes are inconsistent with their coffee, like when one person knows how to make it well and then the next time you come another person makes it and its bad. This is not the case here the coffee’s always the best. I also love the people that work there they’re all super sweet. I’ve been coming here since the beginning of second year and I’m in 4th year now and this is still my favourite cafe in campus and just in general.

My favourite coffee shop in Manchester! Coffee is always quick and just how I like it. I have tried several things on the menu and am always left super satisfied. Staff are always friendly and having a laugh with each other and the customers - positive and high vibes place!! Also great place to study or get some work done as very laptop friendly :)

The barista is less professional recently, as there is a man with curly golden hair looks like playing with the coffee machine using the milk…… don’t know what he is doing there, but lots of steamed milk foam was poured out. It looks really dirty….. Then he gave me the coffee with a very fake smile, the coffee taste was really very different from its previous taste, very bitter and weak. Don’t think I will give this cafe a chance again….. I’m a really nice person in reality and never written anything in the reviews of google map. Hope this thing helps you improve.

This is my local coffee shop, I come here almost daily and the service is always absolutely amazing. Amy, one of the baristas, is top notch and consistently serves a great flat white

In here almost every day, and I'm never disappointed. Brilliant coffee at a good price, made by great people who never fail to brighten my day. Love those guys, and love this place.

Staff were fine. Coffee tasted good but the portions are tiny. Won’t be back for another thimble of coffee. Total rip off

Actually the best coffee I’ve ever had. Not exaggerating in the slightest. I just got a regular late and it was perfect, creamy, beautiful.

One of my favourite places to get some work done while drinking great coffee and eating a delicious veggie buoy. On the pricey side for a "student" place but worth it.

Although the coffee and food here are good, the service is slow, and sometimes the staff are quite impolite. For example, this morning I ordered a large latte and received a small size instead due to an error by the server. That is a minor issue, but when I pointed out the mistake and asked for the correct size, rather than apologizing, the barista was argumentative and objected that it didn't say large on the order. She then made the orders of everyone else in the shop who was waiting (having ordered after me) before fixing mine. The service issues are unfortunate as it's a good cafe otherwise.

Great place. Staff are fab, food is soooo much better and fuller than other "chains", making it great value. Chilled place with good music in the background. The place is filled with people working, chilling, chatting. Lovely place to chill, reflect and drink tea. 😃.

Good food and amazing service. The tea was served in a unique way and was brilliant. The Tuna Sandwich was filling and yummy. They do lots of amazing handcrafted beverages as well.

Purchased a takeaway mocha but it took a while and it was served warm. The barista forgot it was to takeaway. However, the food menu was diverse and looked like it was worth trying. This coffee shop is more of a place where you sit inside and enjoy the food rather than getting a takeaway coffee

Nice coffee shop, lots of students are there with their laptops tapping away so it's a good place to go if you need to study and need a studious environment! The hot chocolate there is good and they offer oat milk.

The food is amazing, and the atmosphere is great but something has got to be done about the staff. There is one guy, not sure what his name is, that’s very lovely and kind. Every other person that’s served me is rude. I’m a regular there and I will not be coming anymore unless I’m being served by that one guy. The woman today very rudely told me to order something else because they didn’t have steak and then very rudely proceeded to tell me off for telling her something she didn’t understand. I was also once served by a very rude guy that charged me twice the amount that I needed to pay and the nice guy came over and apologised for it. Please, get your staff to understand that they need to be kind to the people they serve. If they don’t wanna be there - then don’t come to work.

Actually so good had to leave a review. Arrived at 12 for brunch and had a coconut chai latte & vegetarian bouy (huge egg sandwich) it was so so good. The music they were playing was great also

This place is changing my mind about Bold Street Coffee! Previously, I had visited the Cross Street branch and the original Bold Street location in Liverpool, and both times I was extremely underwhelmed by the experience, but this place just seems to be ticking a lot of boxes for a fan of speciality coffee. The Baristas are clearly very well trained, as was evidenced yesterday when I saw a new barista in training during a very busy shift (the idea to give away free cake to apologise for the delay was inspired!). I was delighted to see the team dialling in during a busy lunch rush, and I didn't mind waiting longer for my drink while this happened: it's always better to wait for a coffee which is worth drinking than to get something disgusting immediately, and It's great to see that this high standard it being set for a new member of staff. If you like the more experimental end of coffee then I'm guessing this might not be the place to check out (there are other places in Manchester which offer the wilder-tasting fermented coffees etc.) but I'm increasingly coming to believe that you're guaranteed a very well-made cup of tasty coffee from this particular branch of Bold Street.

I had the worst experience here with their rude staff: I accompanied my friend who wanted to buy a takeaway coffee. I had my own cup of coffee from Pret. We entered there and my friend was placing his order, when the staff looked at me and told me that I should leave the place because I was holding a cup of coffee in my hand from somewhere else! While we both planned to go back to university immediately! Such a disrespectful behaviour!

Without question the best coffeeshop around the university. The coffee is outstanding and the food is very good. The in house sweets like brownies or banana bread are amazing! Staff is friendly and helpful and are clearly passionate about the coffee they serve. Really nice change from all the third wave imitators out there…

Visited a couple of times, classic english breakfast, scrambled eggs on toast was great, liked the butter on the sourdough toast, and lastly the iced matcha latte was very delicious!

To your credit - you did offer, albeit disgruntled, to re-make my coffee... It was, however, still as bad tasting as the first shot you pulled. You drank a sample from my cup and muttered "It's Over-extracted". Alas the shot you pulled once more was the same rancid, bitter and most horrid tasting coffee I've ever had. There are a couple of things that are within your control to prevent over-extraction. Of which they are: Grind size, extraction time, tamping technique etc... Strongly recommend that you go through barista course once more and pay closer attention to the minutiae. Coffee pulling is an art. Study, Taste, Practice.

I am an Australian on holiday and happened on this cafe by chance. I ordered a latte - expecting the standard I had experienced in London ( rating 2-3 stars at best). Here it was as good as I can get in Melbourne. Well done to the barista!

If you ask for a drink to take away, you'll receive a fraction of what you'd get if you asked to sit in. The takeaway matcha that I got came in a small cup, which was a joke. I've had the same drink when sitting in and it came up in a big, round tea cup. A complete rip-off! The staff also don't seem aware of their own menu prices. The price they gave me from their paper list was different to the one on the overhead menu boards though they did give me 50p back in cash, to be fair. The music is also too loud. Given the location on campus, you'd think they'd turn it down a but for students who actually want to come here to study.

I visited here Wednesday 26th July morning! I’m scoring it a generous 4. It was ‘ok’ across the board. The coffee black Americano (as always for me) tasted good but was extremely small for the price. I also had an almond croissant which although nice it wasn’t any different to anything I’d had before in fact I’m convinced they must use the same supplier to many other coffee shops. The service was polite and courteous, but not as friendly as I’m used to but I do tend to gravitate to less city centre locations! Overall it was ok, I would visit again if passing but wouldn’t make a special trip to visit

I was visiting the university and came across BSC as I wanted some breakfast. The menu looked interesting so I thought I’d pop in. I chose the BSC breakfast with coffee and OJ. £21 in total. Wow! The quality of the ingredients seemed quite decent as was the coffee. I felt the service was a little poor. The young lady serving didn’t seem interested or knowledgeable. I wasn’t offered any condiments. I did feel that the sausages in particular and maybe the bacon was borderline cooked through which was a little off putting. I probably wouldn’t go back as there’s so much better in town and cheaper too.

Too expensive. Milk alternatives are too expensive and should be free. Two coffees £8 odd. WtBF? One lovely staff member who listened to me moaning about the prices was absolutely brilliant. She deserves a bonus!

Portions are so small and extremely expensive… £11,50 for a thin slice of toast with a bit of avocado and two poached eggs.. with one crumb of feta! When the waitress asked us if everything was ok , I told her I thought it was quite expensive for such a small portion, though it was very good, she replied with “yeah well you ate it, cost of living huh”. What an extremely RUDE reply! Please have better customer service… also the table was very dirty. I left feeling hungry

Quite possibly the worst customer service we’ve ever experienced. The server responded ‘well you ate it’ when we mentioned the portion size being quite small (a singular slice of bread with a table spoon of avocado) for £12.50 She then proceeded to passively aggressively grunt when I offered to help her bring In the plates

thoroughly impressed! Food and drinks we ordered was delicious, and the staff were wonderful - friendly and attentive. The seating was also really nice, and added to the overall enjoyable experience. we definitely had a great time at this cafe and would highly recommend it to others.

Extremely good coffee. Very busy. Would be nice to know if there are gluten free options for food as I forgot to ask whilst in. Website says 20% off for NHS staff! I'm not sure if this is advertised inside.

Being from Liverpool it was quite nice seeing bold street coffee in Manchester, all be it a bit confused but the coffee is the same and brilliant. Haven’t tried the food yet, but I will be sure too soon!

Grabbed a quick vegan sandwich and chai tea for lunch. The sandwich was fresh and the chai tea good. There was a funny poll at the till.

Smashing coffee in very nice and bold colours takeaway cups. Would have loved to enjoy the coffee indoors but the music was way too loud to my liking.

Full on their first day, good sign. Pieces of egg shell and large pieces of what appeared to be plastic in the food!! They assured me they were unground salt crystals. Suitable apologies. Good atmosphere.
