BOKAN 38 Bar & 39 Rooftop in Tower Hamlets

Really nice bar with a gorgeous view, a great spot for late night celebrations.The food and service was excellent. Adam who looked us was so kind and attentive; he made our experience even better.

It was our first time visiting bokan, and our waiter Adam was absolutely phenomenal in the service he provided with attentive care, and outstanding cocktail recommendations we’ll never forget. we can’t wait to revisit!

Service was very bad despite the bar not being too busy. The bartender and waitstaff preferred to talk to each other than to take orders. When orders were taken, they were not logged and we had to ask 3 times before our drinks came. Our food order was also not logged and after asking 2 different wait staff, we were told it was not logged and was only going to come in 10 more minutes. Having been to bokan before, as a gold Accor member, we used to get a discount. While the rule may have changed, when we asked for the discount, we were told they NEVER give discounts which was definitely incorrect as we were there 5 months back and got a discount. While the view was very nice, the service has got very very bad.

Booked a table on the terrace for 8pm on a Friday night. Arrived to no table being reserved and we were led to the terrace and just left standing. Then we were told to wait at a cramped table attached to another group with no chairs. Eventually chairs were brought over. Staff were uninterested and not very friendly. Eventually other people left and we managed to get a table ourselves by the windows. No wait staff ever came over to ask about drinks or give us a menu. After 15 minutes, we left. Great location. Let down by poor customer service.

Had a table reservation at 9pm on a Wednesday night. Lovely setting/bar, first time on Canary Wharf and was excited to try- however the service was shocking. Tried to ask a member of staff to order our drinks and was just told ‘one minute’ in a rude manner, he then never came back. Finally ordered drinks and they never arrived 🙄 waited 40 mins before asking and was abruptly told they are busy.Which I understand, however should not have waited 40 mins for a simple drink! We was given no apology and felt uncomfortable after this- where we ended up leaving as the bar staff were impolite. We was meant to have food but decided to take our business elsewhere. However, the young girl who dealt with the booking on arrival was lovely & polite- just a shame the other staff wasn’t.

Me and my partner came to the bar, as walk ins, the receptionist couldn't be more confusing with her answers and unhelpful. We ordered 2 cocktails, the person taking our order misheard one of the cocktails, we spotted it on the bill so it was rectified. We also ordered the charcuterie and cheese board, turns out he only wanted us to eat charcuterie. First impressions were nice, however after this experience I could say Bokan 38 felt like Mcdonald's in Soho. It was an amazing experience to carry a tray in such a beautiful establishment and be part of their team. Please send me your next staff party date! Looking forward to it.

Great location and view! Thankfully not too loud, average London prices. Good non alcoholic choices, wish there was more food even though the restaurant is close.

This is where memories are made and dreams inspired. The whole experience is always a great memory and the views are some kind of wonderful majestic and awe inspiring. The staff are unique and blend effortlessly and create a great experience. The managers are always around readily available to be of assistance and generoso the manager is charming along with Alex Clark who seemingly can bespoke any order and make it special and we enjoyed french 75s that were likely the best I have ever had. This hotel, this bar, this restaurant,this coffee shop absolutely cannot be replicated it is a totally unique experience. Thankyou bokan staff a team to remember and thank you to Florian head and Michael on Novotel reception! It is just a great venue but when combined with extraordinary staff it becomes some kind of wonderful.

The staff was amazing. I went with my boyfriend for Valentine and everyone was so kind and helpful. Ziggy took care of us and was amazing giving us advice. He also took stunning pictures of us. All of the staff were just great. We have a perfect evening with breathtaking views of the city. Lee, Adam, Izabela and Sebatian made our night just perfect!! I would definitely be coming back! 100% recommended :)

Space with potential, with great views, shame about the overall poor service. Front desk employees were unhelpful and not welcoming at all. I would advise the persons on duty that night to change career (or jobs). I will not recommend this place and will not go back.

Had a small client gathering at Bokan 38. I had pre-booked a space, and when the timings changed Samantha from Client Services was very helpful and accommodating. Firstly, the views are stunning! Big glass windows all around allow for fantastic views over London, Canary Wharf right next door, but also the city in the distance. Especially after dark this was a superb view, as good as any I have seen in London. I had pre-ordered some drinks and a small selection of canapes. The canapes were delicious and there was plenty of them. The service throughout the evening was excellent, whenever we ran low on drinks there was always someone nearby ready to take our next order. All-in-all a great location for some late afternoon/evening drinks.

Booked a table here whilst staying in the hotel below, we were seated by the window and the view was Unbelievable. It's a busy bar so understandably service was a bit slow but cannot complain at all about anything. The staff were all friendly but wanted to give a shout out to Terry/Jerry we think it was? It was loud so didn't properly catch his name, he is a credit to your team. If we find ourselves staying in Canary Wharf again we will definitely come back!

Overall, the drinks and food were great (but expensive). The service was pretty terrible. We had two servers that didn’t know the menu properly (they thought a charcuterie board was a burger), got our order wrong, didn’t offer us more drinks when we had drank them, took ages to get their attention etc. The views from our seat were absolutely beautiful but for the price you’re paying, they should put more effort into training their staff to make the guest experience better.

I truly appreciated the hard, dedicated service by orlagh. She if fantastic and aware of the surrounding needs. She is truly a gem!

Have been to Bokan for drinks before and we chose to come along again for drinks. Outside tables not bookable as ‘first come first served’ but when we arrived we were told we could only have a table outside if we spent £40 per head despite there being room outside and we could only be there for an hour as we had a show at the O2 to get to - will not be returning

Dreadful food. Shockingly poor quality and could not believe they served such poorly made food. Will never return.

Visited twice in August 2023 whilst staying at the Novotel Canary Wharf. Views of the London skyline from the 38th and 39th floors are impressive and memorable. Rooftop bar on the 39th floor is particularly worth a visit, although this was closed for a private function on the second day I arrived here. Service was friendly and efficient. Drinks are reasonably priced given the location and the view.

Great views and lovely staff. Adam and Alex behind the bar were always friendly, engaging and absolute artists making cocktails. Highly recommend.

I don’t drink alcohol but Adam was amazing in suggesting me a mock tail. He even went so far as to make a tailored drink. We were able to switch to seats that had a better view as well and the service was absolutely brilliant. Would 100% recommend - a lovely view to have a drink in the night for the city!
