Bob's Tearoom And Gardens in Calderdale

We went on a day it was closed , the lady was baking and it smelt divine, Very little parking and on single track road are the only downsides I could see, we do intend to return to sample the menu

A hidden gem, serving possibly the best cake in the world!! I had the Black Forrest gateaux and my partner the coffee and walnut cake and both were delicious. The location of the cafe is lovely and the staff are really friendly. Definitely worth a visit after a walk in the vicinity.

I am appalled at how the elderly, male waiter who I presume to be Bob spoke to a teenage member of my family. She ordered an oat milk latte. When the coffee was brought out, the waiter did not explicitly say “oat milk latte” as he put her coffee down. Instead, he simply said “latte”. Due to intolerances, she very rightly and politely asked “is this one the oat milk?”. The man, who was stood over her, looked down at her and rudely sniped “what did you ask for at the till? That’s what you’ll get given”. His tone was snide, unpleasant and intimidating. We were all in shock - had not spoken to anyone else in our family like this. She felt intimidated, upset and did not feel comfortable drinking the coffee without the reassurance that it was in fact dairy free and would not make her ill. The way that he spoke to my family member was abhorrently unacceptable and left a sour taste in all of our mouths, especially as he felt it acceptable to intimidate a young girl yet be polite to the older and male members of our group. We left promptly and will never return.

We only found out about Bob's Tearoom recently when out for a walk up Luddenden valley and on the way back we had a pint in the Lord Nelson and the landlord recommended Bob's Tearoom to us, so we checked It out on our next walk and what a find! It's an amazing little tearoom, fantastic cakes, coffee and tea and at great prices too. A well earned treat after a good walk. Well done to Bob and the team 👍

The gardens were looking soooo lovely today topped off with totally delicious blueberry and lemon cake! All our cakes choices were thoroughly enjoyed. A nice placevto stop after a walk x

First class - bakery wizard Sue is turns out fresh mouthwatering cakes, always delicious, chocolate, blueberry and lemon rhubarb, and carrot, in addition to the very best traditional Victoria strawberry jam sponge, or coffee and walnut cake. Icing or cream as appropriate is plentifully supplied. For dieters there is a range of the most tasty home made chocolate/shortbread/flapjack deep pan biscuits. Bob has done marvels with the garden in the outstandingly beautiful Luddenden Dene. This review is based on many pleasurable visits

Me and a friend walked miles including hill climbs to have a lunch here. The cafe only opens 2 days a week from 12 to 5pm. We arrived at 2pm. We were told they were closed. No reason or apology given. I cannot comment on the food but I can comment on their manners. Hence a 2 star ratung

Lovely rustic tearoom, with wonderful helpful staff and the best black forest gateau cake I had for years. Lovely big tea cups. Highly recommend coming for the cake alone, though the drive over is beautiful.

A charming and rustic farm cafe with the most amazing cakes and excellent coffee. Dog friendly, friendly humans - what more can you ask for? All cakes are home baked. Bring a jumper on a cool day. There are covered areas but not heated.

A very pleasant spot for morning or afternoon tea at the weekend ( not open weekdays ). Indoor and outdoor seating and an excellent choice of homemade cakes.

Lovely garden and locations, good variety of cakes on weekends. Afternoon tea is only available by booking and on a Wednesday. The afternoon tea is really nice, with great views and lovely places to sit.

Simply superb. Just had an afternoon tea booked as part of my 60th celebrations. We all had a vegan afternoon tea and it was just delicious. Homemade scones, cakes, flapjacks and sandwiches. Sue the owner is fabulous- she should have her own TV show! Warm, welcoming, attentive and full of humour. A beautiful setting. You do need to book as it’s very popular and you need to inform Sue of any dietary requirements in advance. Thank you Sue for all the trouble you took. I had a wonderful, memorable day. As a vegan of 32 years, I had better food at your establishment than some of the veggie-vegan places I’ve been over the years.

Wonderful family ran tea rooms .cakes are so good and proper pot of tea after a pleasant walk around the lower Carr Rd! Well behaved dogs and walkers welcome ..plenty of space Toilets. cheery banter and all made very welcome Bob and Sue the owners .

I've often passed this tearoom as I've explored the area a lot in the quest to get decent photos. Today I stopped in there and so glad I did! Lovely and quiet, great surroundings, prices very reasonable and Bob himself is a remarke character, typical Yorkshire man, hard working and enterprising . I will come back here again

Lovely setting with seating at ground level and elevated positions giving great views across the valley. Generous portions at very reasonable prices and super friendly service. Only open Sat and Sun!

We stopped by today after a walk at Jerusalem Farm. Lovely staff, beautifully kept gardens and the cake is gorgeous! A really lovely selection of sweet treats and coffees/soft drinks. Will definitely be going back and spreading the word. Water Bowls out for the dogs. Loved it!

What an absolute gem of a place!! First visit today and just loved everything about it!! The quirky individual seating areas dotted around the gardens are beautiful! The cake was delicious…and I’m normally quite critical of cake! Can’t wait to go back!

This is such a gem of a place, beautiful tiered flowerbeds the best home n made cakes. The staff are so welcoming. Great place to stop off at whilst enjoying the stunning views and walks. Very dog friendly.

Visited after seeing pics of my friend enjoying cake here and saying it was the best place ever. These guys are churning out cake like I've never seen before and for very good reason. The slices are enormous and delicious with lots of choices. The prices are super reasonable too. The gardens are a lovely place to sit for an hour or too. My only let down was the coffee which was quite thin but very bitter. I would just choose a different drink next time and this wouldn't put me off visiting again as the cakes and setting were so lovely.

We have been to Bobs around 10 times now and each time it is AMAZING. The friendliest staff, the loveliest kids running round who I assume are Bobs grandchildren who make the experience even better - saying hello, chatting and just bringing another element of joy and comfort to the place. Though you wouldn’t expect it from a small rural cafe they offer a wide range of plant based milks as well as vegan cakes!!!!! I will keep coming back and bringing other friends and family members to show them the joys of Bobs :)

We dropped in as we were passing on a walk. The welcome from Bob was very warm and the place is really charming. There were plenty of non-dairy milk and cake/flapjack options for the vegans in the party and it represented amazing value for money. The blueberry and lemon cake was stunning and the portions generous (and also vegan-friendly). Couldn't recommend highly enough!

Stunning describes everything about Bob's Tearooms. The service, the coffee, the cakes, the portion sizes, the price, the setting. It has it all, we were blessed with a sunny day and a chance for a lovely chat with Sue and her gorgeous dog. We'll be going again very soon. The cakes we tried were delicious but the chocolate orange tifin we took home, wow, by far the best we've ever had. No.1 cafe in the area for sure.

What an amazing find whilst doing a 12ish mile circular walk. I didn’t know the cafe existed, but a very welcome break on the hotest day of the year so far. The cake range was outstanding and tasted superb. All at a very reasonable price in beautiful surroundings. I will definitely want to return when next visiting the area

A very welcome pitstop on a walk we were doing from Luddenden. Great selection of delicious cakes and hot and cold drinks. Nice clean toilet too. Really nice to sit outside in the garden. I wish there were more places like this!!

Fantastic place! Has non dairy milk options and one of the cakes was vegan, and delicious! Super dog friendly, even has a jar of dog biscuits.

Out walking around Midgley Res, we were advised to take the detour to Bob's.. so we did, and it was really good, and we will return!

Visited the cafe today mid walk with my family for hot chocolate and the most amazing cake! A lovely friendly welcome and lots of sensible measures in place to be covid safe. Will definitely be back.
