Great little cafe for the family.

Overpriced, some items very over priced. Food generally on the undercooked side of cooked. Soggy tattie scones!

Meal ok, Service very slow and had to remind staff after 10min still waiting for one of two meals ordered to be served.

I was looking forward to trying the veggie breakfast here as a treat to myself. When it arrived it was fairly well presented on a warm plate but the food was undercooked (cold sausages/hash browns tepid and limp - as if they’d been shown the oven but not actually put in it!). It’s not a cheap breakfast @ £11.95. I complained to the waitress and my plate was promptly taken away with a bit of an eye roll and info that they were trying/training a new cook - almost as if the plate I’d been presented with was suspect to the wait staff from the get-go. When it was returned to me the sausages had been (somewhat) heated up and the rest of my breakfast dumped back onto a cold plate with no attention at all to presentation this time - it was an unappetising mess tbh - the beans now had a crust on top, the veggie haggis was an oily mess, the hash browns looked worse than before, mangled, still limp barely warm and sitting on top of the now cold grilled tomato. There were heartfelt apologies and I was again told they were training a new cook and to be fair the cafe was also very busy, so understand that it was a bit of a perfect storm and tried to be understanding. I believe I was asked if I wanted to send it back (again) - but this should have been a quality control decision the restaurant made before I was presented with a substandard meal - instead of leaving it to the me to keep being ‘awkward’. When I left I was given a £3 discount so with the cost of tea and a £2 tip my total was £12.20. On reflection I think the more equitable way to deal with this would be to have started from scratch with a whole new breakfast or to have waived the cost of the breakfast entirely as a matter of quality control and pride - which I hope they will do if this happens with other costumers in future. Whilst I did eat some of the food on my plate it was well below the standard I expected from the reviews of this lovely little cafe and I left feeling very dissatisfied - even with a £3 discount I still feel I was overcharged and left feeling disappointed and still hungry.

Great place to take the weight off your feet and have a drink and a bite to eat. There are plenty of cakes here. Located directly on the Esplanade with great views of the Loch. Helpful and pleasant staff.

Cheery greting on entry,service was quick and polite and it was a good coffee served in pleasant surroundings and would recommend it to any one visiting Dunoon ,parking nearby is free and outside seating area as well to enjoy the views across the water.

Beautiful cafe in a fabulous location, the staff were really nice and helpful, we sat outside in the sun, had a coffee and a slice of gorgeous cake before having a wonder around the rest of the town.

Only go for coffee, the acoustics are awful so only comfortable when it is quiet. Impossible to have a conversation when it is busy and the drinks are NEVER HOT.

Nice little place to have a refreshment. The place was clean, staff were friendly, the food was home made. And the prices were very reasonable. If in Dunoon again I would happily go back. The ice cream was also very tasty.

Ice cream was nice but service was awful mostly every flavour was out of stock, and prices were ridiculous! (£8.50 for 3 ice creams)

Very disappointed as the menu looked lovely. We are visiting Dunoon for a week from Sutton Coldfield&have found most places lovely &dog friendly. It said online this cafe was bit we were told on arrival we could only sit outside!! As it was pouring with rain&all the tables&chairs outside were soaked with no cover we had no choice but to go elsewhere. Found another cafe where we were made to feel really welcome.

Great atmosphere and a flipping tasty venison burger

The Boathouse, with a spectacular view over the West Bay at Dunoon the location is spot on, and the welcome always warm. A simple cafe, a good menu of well presented tasty food. Gluten free is accomodated with no fuss.

Always a lovely time at The Boat House, the cauliflower and broccoli soup is delicious and you are spoilt for choice with a range of beautiful cakes and home baking. A mere minute's walk from the passenger ferry! I am lucky enough to be a local and make regular visits here with friends, and the staff are never anything short of a delight. Food is always on point and served promptly. 10/10 would recommend to anybody visiting Dunoon.

Absolutely love this coffee shop, especially when you get to sit outside on a beautifully sunny day. Was really impressed with the coffee, and the cakes were divine. Was also very impressed with their gluten free selection!

Sitting outside today after travelling from Helensburgh and lockdown rules not fully lifted yet, we had 2 cappuccino (lovely) an empire biscuit (she tells me was lovely) a 'tub' of caramel Ice cream actually a wee drop of Ice cream in the bottom of a plastic cup. Tasted nice but really? And a cheese roll, that was 2.50 consisting of a virtually dry too and some cheese. I suspect there was a minute amount of butter (spread?) Hidden on one side of the roll... maybe. For 2.50. Altogether 11 quid which seems steep for what we got. But hey no. We needed something.

Its great to see the Boat House becoming established at Dunoons West Bay. Three recent trips totaling 6 double cones with delicious Vanilla and Salted Caramel Ice Cream thats great value for money. Good stuff

I've been here just for coffee twice now. The cakes looked lovely but I couldn't manage one at the time. I spoke with both the chef and the lady running the place, both friendly people who approached me. The coffee was tasty and just about the right strength, some places might serve it too weak or too strong, this was neither.

1st class food from a 1st class chef ... great menu & great prices - an absolute must if visiting Dunoon or the West Coast !

Well worth a visit.... food was scrumptious (try the black pudding and poached egg salad followed by cake ;)). Great location and the staff were so friendly.

This place is amazing. A hidden treasure in the west of Scotland. If you are visiting the area you MUST go here. The owner is a stunning guy and a great chef. We turned up 5 minutes before they stopped serving breakfast and he was incredibly accommodating. Making recommendations, adapting meals, adding in items and throwing in items for free. The food was delicious. Best black pudding ever apparently (I had the Morton roll with egg, mushrooms and tattie scone) , also great Blaggis. Cakes are scrumptious too. And the prices are incredibly reasonable. Plus a stonking coastal view. A proper 5 star treat.

I have a weekend flat near Dunoon and this cafe, under previous proprietors, was, for many years, a favourite for lunch or afternoon coffee and cakes - it is, as most reviews indicate, very well situated with a great view in all weathers. I have been twice since it changed hands and is now known as Wined and Dined, the Boathouse - there is some confusion here. (See also review which is mine, on Wined and Dined). The first time, summer 2018, I found the service to be very slow for a light sandwich, which was somewhat overpriced. I nonetheless decided to try it again this year, on 30 June, and had an appalling experience. In the first place, I asked for a table by the window which was unoccupied but uncleared to be told that the waitress had no time to clear the table and that I would have to have another one, which I did. After asking about the contents of the various cakes on offer, I ordered a chocolate brownie and cup of coffee. After some time I was served with the brownie which had ice cream and chocolate sauce added. I was unaware that it would come with ice cream and, as I am intolerant to cream, asked for it to be removed. The person I assume to be the proprietor then came to my table and informed me that I could not have the brownie as it had dairy contents. I explained, twice, that my intolerance was to cream, not all dairy food, that I can eat brownies with no problem, and that I am well aware of the tolerance of my own stomach (I have in fact had several tests and attended dieticians about food allergies and intolerances). He continued to refuse me the brownie, or any other cake, and furthermore, in a somewhat accusatorial manner, pointed out that I had walked past the large yellow sign on the door indicating the importance of asking about food allergies. He then asked me to leave, saying that I had not been charged for my coffee. I left immediately after having a brief conversation with some fellow customers who expressed their astonishment at the way the matter had been handled. I went to another cafe and enjoyed my coffee and cake!Suffering as I do from a not unusual food intolerance I am well used to asking about the contents of food and in the vast majority of restaurants am dealt with courteously and very often, offered alternatives without cream, including, in an increasing number, vegan ice cream. I further note that on the Trip Adviser site this establishment specifically mentions it caters for vegetarians and has vegan options - not, it would seem, in relation to cakes, all of which were said to contain dairy! I was extremely upset by the whole experience and sadly, I, along with my friends and family, will not be returning to this establishment unless it changes hands again, which I regret, particularly given its prime site.

Very tasty wagyu beef burger, bacon , cheese. relish and fries.Best ever. Sat outdoors in the sunshine. Well worth a visit.

This restaurant has been refurbished and the decor is clean and fresh. Small menu. Orders are taken at the front desk. Took quite a while for our breakfasts to be brought out by which time our coffees were stone cold. Food was okay but quite expensive for what it is.

Erg lekker gegeten en gedronken. We hadden linzensoep, calamaris, een goede hamburger, salade met zeevruchten en een geweldig merengue dessert. Kok legde alles uitgebreid uit. Geweldig uitzicht!

Very pleasant staff, good food, fantastic views

I don't often leave 5 star reviews but the meal here was worth it. Visited one Sunddy afternoon,Lovely setting and location with views down the Clyde. The restaurant was close to closing time but they where more than happy for us to take our time. Owner let us try a fee samples of things, look out for the sugar free ice cream! Lots of homemade deserts. The bar also had a huge selection of gins if that's your thing. Looking forward to going back, this time for dinner.
