Lovely atmosphere for the quiz night, we are going every Wednesday, the ladies at the bar are super polite and nice.

Mens toilets need a revamp very poor so I've been told ladies toilets not to bad . Only thing that let's the pub down to be fair plus a bit dusty but could be the open fire 🔥 all in all a great pub

What a great pub..been on a few times now and we love it..close to the town centre but far enough away if you know what I mean 😉...Great choice of beers, dog friendly and fantastic staff, what more do you want. 👍

Great! It's got one (and even two) of my personal favourite lagers on tab, both being Czechian Pils: Staropramen and their second Pils, Praha.

Excellent service,friendly pub..was actually in there when the people in the comment below went in..they wanted serving first while people were already waiting and were very rude to the barman who was on his own due to one of the staff being absent through illness...but all in all a great little pub.👌

Such a rude barman in there. Serves all regulars first and ignores customers. Like a drink on a Friday in there but don't like being ignored. VERY RUDE BARMAN. WOULDN'T SERVE US .WAITED AT LEAST 5 MINUTES WHILE HE SERVED EVERYONE ELSE. We then walked out. He said ' You won't be missed' when we asked him why we hadn't been served. Awful.

We go in here on some Fridays. Went in today. Totally ignored by the very rude barman who served others who came in after us. Waited at least 5 minutes. My husband then spoke up . He asked rudely what he wanted. We said nothing now and we went. EXTREMELY RUDE. Think you should know as you will lose customers. He told us we wouldn't be missed. Horrendous customer service. We have found this particular barman rude before.

Great traditional pub with friendly bar staff and proper local old boys plying cards. Listening to their ruthless, playful banter with each other was a fantastic. Great selection of ales and standard AND premium lager. Will visit again soon.

A real blast from the past .43 years since I first went into this pub as a long haired teenager and now I'm back in with no hair at all and it's just as I remember.

Called in for a quick pint, weekday lunch, place was buzzing. Welcoming staff, roaring fire no rip-off prices, great beer, I'll be back with friends.

This is a great thriving little pub, unspoilt by current trends, only thing letting them down are the toilets which are dirty and smelly.

A really nice, traditional pub, keeps a good pint of cask, all types of ale kept, I just wish the selection changed, always tends to be the same beers on. If you're in the area, it's always worth popping in for a pint or two regardless.

Visited here after our car broke down nearby and we were waiting for recovery. We were in joggers/casual wear. The bartenders were friendly, until a glass collector asked “what the f*** are you wearing?” Aghast, we replied that our car had broken down and we hadn’t expected to visit. We were told next time, there’s a dress code. A dress code is understandable, but the way this was communicated was absolutely vile and uncalled for. Will avoid in future!

I like the makeover, it's really freshened the place up. I've not had a bad pint in there since they reopened post-lockdown.

Solid local pub off to one side of Newcastle under Lyme. Good variety of tap beers and draft ales. Jukebox is very rock and roll if you fancy that sort of thing. Chatty staff and occasional live music. Lovely redecorated outside area.

Best place for a perfect drink, friendly and welcoming environment, comfort, and social gathering that I know. Period. Excellent drinks and prices and very respectful with social distancing etc. This is a proper pub and very rare! A diamond!!!

Nice homely pub with lovely open fires. Good choice of real ales at reasonable prices. Be careful where you sit : we didn't know the layout of the pub and sat underneath a speaker so it was a little bit loud. We will go back but will choose where we sit more carefully ! Friendly person behind the bar. Pub clean and wheelchair and dog friendly.

Looking for a new local to frequent, as all the other pubs in town have been converted to young persons disco's or gin palaces. This pub is the real McCoy, great choice of ales and a comfortable friendly atmosphere. Going to make it my 3 times a week (could be more) , hostelry.

Just called for a quick drink. Six Cask beers available. Good choice of keg too, including Blue Moon. Delighted to see the pub reopened and wish it every success. Will be back soon.

Historically interesting pub, well worth the short walk from the town centre or a stop-off on your way to/from Clayton Road. Couple of decent real ales on, and a great 60s-70s soundtrack, not so loud as to intrude on your conversation though. Exactly the kind of pub we need to use and not lose!
