Bo Wah Chinese Food to Take Away in Reading

Love this takeaway. It is a proper traditional Chinese. It’s always perfect every time.. the people that run it are so lovely

the food is nice but very expensive they need to start a all in one container meal for single people

Always so delicious, and better quality than others we’ve tried in the area. My son has an egg allergy so I called up to ask about a dish, the lady on the phone said she would check and I never expected her to phone be back, but she did! Proper curry sauce too

Total rip off ordered curried chicken and paid 30p extra for rice and the curried chicken was 6.50 and came in a small pot and was in the same size pot as the rice which doesn't make sense. so because i paid 30p extra for rice i got a smaller pot of curry. so if paid for large rice i would have got a bigger pot of curry which is already 6.50. TOTAL SCAM won't be ordering again.

Ordered via just eat, order confirmed and then 45 minutes later had a text saying the delivery was cancelled as the driver tried to deliver but was unable to. Clear instructions to call when outside and in a central location that no other drivers from other restaurants struggle to find. This is the second time from Bo Wah - never going to bother again.

Food was nice ,but very disappointed with spare ribs ,it's like they chopped them into little pieces

May look nice in the picture but I promise you’ll get more taste out of a packet of super noodles. Chicken chow Mein taste of pure grease and the chicken had the texture of a soggy slug. Chicken balls were cooked in the middle but as hard as rocks on the outside. Egg fried rice was Edible.

Food was 30-45 minutes late but that wouldn't of been so bad if the food had actually tasted of something.

Ended up getting food poisoning from it and was up all night with sickness. It wasn’t worth it I would not recommend.

I won't usually say its terrible or horrible but on this occasion it left a sour taste, the food was stone cold to the point of being nearly stale looking, the chicken in the chow mein was not cooked correctly and I was not going to let my 8 month pregnant partner eat that, after calling the store they disagree with you and make you out to be lying while laughing at you on the phone, the manager refuses to speak to you enless you walk to the shop, and to top it off its got to be one of the worst of not the worst takeaway/ customer experiences I've ever had, I would strongly recommend anywhere else.

My family and i been coming here for over 40 years now. Its changed hands 3 or 4 times but i think their all family. We have never had any problems with the food or the service delicious food and very good service and the staff are always very polite..!! 👍😉

Very disappointed. When picking up the order, was ignored upon entering as all staff watching TV in the kitchen. When we got home, the order was wrong. We were advised refund could only be processed through the just eat app which we don't have and had to wait for the rest of the food to be delivered. The chicken chow mein doesn't taste like a chow mein and is very greasy and has a lot of onion in. The quarter duck was very fatty, there was enough for the amount of pancakes though. Not their usual standard at all

Absolutely fantastic! Suggested that it would take 45 mins to arrive, here within 15 mins! Food was hot and was absolutely delicious. Best Chinese we've had in reading so far after moving here last year! Can't wait to try you for our Thai night next! Very happy with our experience. Will be recommending to others!

Ordered, order accepted within 10 minutes, slow but not awful. Out for order within an hour, again slow but not terrible. Ordered cancelled and refund processed another hour later with no explanation. Call them up and only explanation is "accepted it but didn't print out the ticket" <- no apology or attempt to resolve... Utterly terrible customer service. 100% avoid

Great elements to my order but not all was great, both my sweet n sour dishes (crispy beef & chicken) overly sweet almost unbearably sweet would have loved a little chilli kick and more of a balance on the sweet, rice, chips, chicken satay was tasty also complimentary prawn crackers which was nice ... also expected delivery at 19:40 but arrived at 19:55. Not bad but won’t go running back to order

La comida no era lo que pedí, se equivocaron 2 platos y estaba tan mal empaquetada que las salsas se habían ido por todas partes en la bolsa y pasaron a los otros platos. La comida estaba asquerosa, estaba fría cuando llegó, el chow mein tenía mucha agua, estaba empapado y el pollo estaba masticable. Las bolas de pollo eran tan malas que algunas estaban cocidas y otras eran pollo crudo y duro que ni siquiera podías morderlo, lo apartaste y estaba rosado por dentro (no tomé una foto porque me sentí mal) desafiantemente NO ordenaré de ¡aqui otra vez! !

I was absolutely buzzing for a Chinese, like, proper buzzing. This arrived and I have never been more disappointed. Poor, stodgy rice. Overly sweet lemon chicken. Squid was alright in fairness, but the rest was a 1* and that's generous.

Chicken was cold and rice partially warm, mushrooms cold inside, white rice stodgy and wet. Prawn crackers were stale.

Food is reasonably priced and is very good better if you collect as the delivery times can be quite long.

Below normal standard tonight. Did not like any of the food. Egg fry rice over cooked and salty, the sweet and sour prawn ball were chewy the batter was soggy. Alao.the Noodle were very salty too. Couldn't eat any of it. When rang they offered to replace the prawn ball. But by this time I felt sick. What a waste of money. I don't think I'll order from them again. Need to find a new Chinese takeaway now. So up set

Slight problem with food not being ready at time requested despite email confirmation of time. Food was well cooked, quantity of each dish met expectation and enjoyed.

We eat here quite often. The food is delicious. But in recent months we have found it has gone downhill. Delivery takes far too long having to wait over an hour for food when you’re local is ridiculous. They need to sort staff out. It has turned up cold on several occasions. Portions are big and prices average so can’t fault that and when they do it right they do it well. Order over £12 you get free prawn crackers, order over £20 you get those and and bottle of 1.5 litre Pepsi

What a joke. I'm going hungry tonight.. Not by my own choosing. When my order was running later than what they said, I had to phone and find out what was happening. And apparently the driver had broken down, what a load of BS... By this time it was five to eleven and they were closing and too late to order from somewhere else. So thanks a lot. First and last time ordering.

Very good quality and price allways consistent

Large, tasty portions. Good value and quality for a high-street takeaway. (We lived in southeast asia so are quite discerning about chinese/thai food.) Ordered online and received a confirmation call shortly after placing the order. Driver got lost (our place is hard to find) so both he and restuarant called to make sure it got to me before going cold. Courteous and friendly service from both. Food was still nice and warm when I received it. Generous portions: spent 40 quid for dinner for a hungry family of four, and only got through half of it so guess what is for lunch the next day! I can recommend ordering from here.

Not used this place recently as other one we use we could not get to as my husband could not drive and they don't do delivery . So tried this take away and believe me won't be using it again meat was chewy and the rice was over cooked. The delivery was 45min to hour . Marks out 10 . 0 ... was meant to press 1 star .if I could I would do no star .

Frankly it wasn't worth waiting 90 minutes to receive our dinner on Saturday. Ordered on-line and the system advised 30-60 minutes. Called after 1 hour and there seemed to be some confusion about what had happened but was told it was on it's way - odd that it then took a further 30 minutes to arrive. The food when it arrived was OK but the portion of crispy beef was tiny. I'll be kind a put it down to a glitch on this occasion because the previous orders were good so I'm very disappointed by this sub-standard quality.

Food turned up half an hour late. The food was then cold and dry.

Yet again only part of the order was delivered. Said they would send the missing items, but it took so long the food was cold. Took it back and demanded a refund. How difficult is it to send out what they have written on their own list. Ordered 4 items, got three. And no remorse for a really bad service, instead blamed it on their drivers who only deliver what they have been given to deliver. DON'T ORDER YOU WON'T GET IT.

Not happy about my food it wasn't what i order

I had to give this a 1 star review as i count do a 0 star. My food came to me cold, i rang as i thought that the quality of food had changed, and YES i was correct. The meat us frozen and the use the sane rice from the day before. I also found out that the pork in the rice is NOT pork it is actually LUNCHEON MEAT!!! this is not FRESH food. That is tinned meet!!! (Foul)!!! The lady told me that i can not have a refund as the delivery man takes £2 of that money but i still said that's fine i would like my money back and i did. I would not order again from this company!!!

I have used Bo Wah for as long as I can remember but last time we ordered they sent out the food cold and incorrect, we phoned and explained and asked for replacements and was told they couldn’t, we said ok can we have a refund then, they said they would give us 50% refund and come and collect the food so we would have paid £20 for nothing... the manager was an absolute arse and the girl had no idea what to do... I know it was just once but I’m all honestly over the last few years it has just gone downhill.

This place is really nice, quick delivery and good prizes. I asked to add an ingredient to my rice and they were happy to do it. It's a good place to go when you need fancy a Chinese takeaway.

Waited over 2 and 1/2 hours. 7 calls later and the food has just arrived. Not great service.

I had big order so phoned up for delivery and once I ordered everything I had the order recalled back, was told it would take 30-35 minutes and arrived in 25 minutes but when the food arrived, we were short of food- Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style was missing when I ordered TWO! I phoned the restaurant up and the lady on the phone admitted that it was her fault and then wanted to me to pay for another dish even though she admitted it was her fault. Normally a good service but this was completely not the right decision! Not happy at all...

Initial booking delivery was 20:30, changed to 21:00 immediately on order, but delivered at 20:25. Chilli beef tastes like it had been swept up off the floor, but the rest of it was ok. Very average meal, expensive for what it was. Won't buy from here again

All the deep fried stuff was the best around. The main dishes in sauce and noodles were a bit bland.

Loved everything good taste nothing burnt or too oily good portion size and quick delivery very happy will continue to use

The meal was very poor quality. Chicken and sweet corn soup was tasteless. Chop suey dishes tasted as if they had been cooked in tomato ketchup. Soup solidified to yellow mush when left aside. Definitely will not order from them again. Very disappointing
