Great to be back once again but have bad news from owner it's up for sale which is really disappointing but life will go on we hope

Well done Bluebirds you saved the day! Having been let down by another tearoom for an afternoon tea even though I had booked it over a month in advance I rang Blue Birds and with only 30 minutes notice they managed to serve us a full afternoon tea. The sandwiches were very tasty , the cake selection was good and the scones, cream and jam were delicious.

We go to Bluebirds quite often, sometimes for lunch, sometimes for a hot drink & cake. We have never had a bad meal and everyone is really friendly and makes us welcome. Today I tried the homemade Lasagne and it was one of the best I have ever tasted.

Delicious breakfast, all freshly prepared. Even better was that there was a 'Slimmer's Breakfast', which was perfect for me, as being on a Slimming World plan can be tricky when eating out. My breakfast was 100% on plan for me and I could enjoy every bit! The staff were kind and attentive. Thank you so much! x

We had a lovely lunch here. It's worth the walk away from the seafront. Great service, decor and atmosphere. Homemade lasagne was very tasty. Build a burger was good too.

Just visited Bluebirds Tea Room with my wife and enjoyed two excellent English breakfasts. Well cooked and high quality food, cooked to order and served by friendly staff. The cafe would be easy to miss due to small frontage but inside opens up to a nicely furnished, spacious and interesting interior. Highly recommended.

We went here for breakfast on Sunday and we were really happy with our experience. The food was really good quality, I had pancakes, my husband had a full fry up and our child who has a dairy allergy had a kids breakfast too. Staff were more than accommodating. The biggest thing was how quiet it was, we were the only people there! Please use your local cafes!

Came here when visited my Nan in Clacton. Food was absolutely lovely and I really like the decor etc Would definitely return

Lovely freshly cooked. My daughter had club sandwich, nicely filled, lovely sides. I had build your own burger, choices of cheeses and sauces, best burger I’ve had in ages. Staff were helpful and attentive

Generally we always use this Cafe but today it wasnt so nice! I had the eggs Benedict! And it was cold the eggs were under cooked and really snotty, and there was far too much hollandaise sauce that it was a very un enjoyable , its a shame because its put me off coming here again! And at nearly £11 for it with a coffee I feel I was out of pocket.

My friend and I visited the 'Bluebird' cafe for the first time on Thursday 29th Feb. Tbh, I didn't know what to expect. As from the outside, it sadly didn't look very welcoming. However, as we walked through the door, a lovely rustic cafe awaited us. The ambience was warm and welcoming. The staff/ owner is lovely and attentive. Quick service. The full English breakfast was the best I have tasted by far. I am well travelled and dine out a lot. In my opinion, it even beats the classy restaurants/ hotels within Essex and Suffolk. Well done 'Bluebird'. Keep up the good work and thank you. I look forward to visiting you much more now and I have now booked a staff birthday party at the 'Bluebird' too.

A hidden gem in the heart of Clacton-On-Sea. Warm, inviting and cosy vibe. Great vegan options - I had a Vegan burger which had some lovely Chilli Jam inside and a side of crispy fries. The desserts are incredible too! Bluebirds make a vegan ‘Jaffa Cake’ Chocolate cake and two Cheesecakes which are amazing! Service is absolutely outstanding, very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for yummy vegan options in Clacton!

Popped in here after the cinema and what a great find. Lovely, friendly place with helpful, pleasant staff. Good choice on the menu, so many lovely things to pick - it was hard to decide. Very good cake selection - would recommend the Jaffa Cake. Relaxed atmosphere. Nice decor, especially the "peacock" wall. Wished we lived nearer, so could pop in again.

An absolute gem of a place! We rang last minute for a luxury afternoon tea for 4 and they couldn’t be more accommodating. A friendly warm response on the telephone and the same in person. The food was really delicious and such a lovely variety. Lovely teacups and a good choice of drinks. We really liked the decor such a pleasant environment. Would absolutely recommend!

A gorgeous gem of a place. A lovely varied menu and they cater for all dietary requirements. As a celiac I usually miss out on certain things so to be able to have sausages and toast was lovely. The food was perfect and staff very friendly and accommodating. We had the full English breakfast and the pancake stack and couldn’t have been happier with meal. It’s just a shame we don’t live nearer, we would definitely visit more often.

Came in with family this morning, first time visiting and we will certainly be back. The service was excellent, we had 2 members of our group who need gluten free options, they went to the trouble of going to buy gluten free bread to cater for us, the selection of food was amazing and the service was just superb! Everyone really enjoyed the food and we really can’t wait to come back!

The premises were fine, but whilst pleasant was service very very slow, food was indifferent (nothing bad but nothing good either) Lots of much better places in Clacton - they really need to improve. I had expected better from other reviews.

We had a lovely lunch and cream tea today. Staff are all lovely and so welcoming. The food was amazing. Had such a lovely experience. Hidden gem. Will defiantly recommend thank you again.

We wanted to avoid the usual coffee shops near the seafront and find something a little more special. This place is about a 5 minute walk from the main high street and was an unexpected gem. It had a cozy, vintage tea-room interior and the food and service was excellent. They also do takeaway food!

We have been here twice now and will continue to visit this tearoom each time we are in the Clacton area. It is a gem find and hasn’t let us down, if anything it just keeps getting better! The owner Laura is wonderful and has outdone herself with this place. Proper butcher sausages and also do a slimmers breakfast with butchers fat free version. The quality of food here is second to none. I would really recommend visiting if you either live here or just visiting. So happy we found this place, I would say it’s the best cafe/tearoom in the Holland on sea area! X

What can I say, defiantly the best cafe I’ve visited in Clacton and I have been to most here.Premium quality of food and prices are not ridiculous. English breakfast is to die for…. local butchers sausages are 10/10. The owner, Laura, is extremely welcoming and has such a fresh, positive energy about her. Couldn’t ask for more really when visiting a cafe with a sore head.Make sure you pay this tea room/restaurant a visit as you will not be disappointed

I took my mum in law here for a surprise while we were on holiday in Clacton. From booking afternoon tea to saying goodbye I cannot fault anything. We will definitely go back in October. Food freshly made staff so polite and friendly. Absolutely recommend this place

I love Bluebird Tearooms! The food is homemade, and I have (over the years) tried their cooked breakfast, their cooked meals, paninis, and cream teas. I have never been disappointed. The food is fresh and tasty and the tearoom is homely.

I ordered a afternoon tea for my daughter’s birthday during lockdown. It was delivered to our house and was really lovely. Food was packaged up great and all looked so nice and tasted even better . Many thanks to Bluebird Tea Rooms , would definitely recommend.

Our day trip to the seaside was made complete when visiting this beautiful tearoom. Lovely varied hot and cold menu for vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters so finding something to suit everyone was not difficult. Love the decor and vibe of this family run business. Nothing was too much trouble. Relax in a cosy armchair for a coffee and a chat or push the boat out with a delightful cream tea. Large selection of specialty teas available. Full English Breakfast was the best! We couldn’t praise the owners and staff highly enough. Was pleased to see staff being very mindful of cleanliness which reassured us. We noticed also that it is wheelchair friendly too! Highly recommend a visit. Good value

I booked an afternoon tea for my mums birthday, think it was £16.95 a person, I expected to be wowed , The 'youngster' on front of house was a bit clueless, scones were under cooked, and for the price, really wasn't worth it, the lady (owner i presume) was lovely, Can't fault the quality of the food though , just expected more , Wasn't a good start to the birthday celebrations

Lovely hidden gem in Clacton, relaxed atmosphere, pleasant staff good basic food. If you are in or visiting Clacton give this a try, you will not be disappointed.

On Tuesday 21st July we walked around for a while looking for a cafe to grab a bite to eat and a drink, and I’m so pleased we eventually found this place. The lady who served us was incredibly accommodating, and gave excellent customer service - so polite, warm and friendly. And gave water to the dogs pretty much as soon as we arrived instinctively. The sandwiches were lovely, and the homemade coleslaw was a particular favourite. Thank you! (we never got your name, apologies)

Had a wonderful breakfast with my family. The owners were lovely and looked after us very well. It was nice and clean which was reassuring having not eaten out much since lockdown! The cooked breakfasts were delicious and best we’ve had for a long time. My daughter (who never normally eats much) loved her bacon roll and took what was left to eat on the beach! Shame we couldn’t sample the afternoon tea - maybe next time!

This was our first visit to this little tearoom and we’ve been returning every week since! I am a lover of all things vintage and it’s such a shame that we didn’t find this little gem sooner because they are about to change it all up! There are lots of tables and they aren’t all on top of eachother, so it’s very comfortable. There are a selection of different style of chairs, so pick your favourite and get comfy. Our table had a carnation in a vase which was a nice touch and the teas and coffees are served with little vintage teacups and saucers.There are so many places now to get a coffee in Clacton, but nowadays you no longer feel like a valued customer - just a number in the usually very long queue; yet from the minute you enter Bluebird Tearooms you feel welcome! The ladies are friendly and chatty and gave us plenty of time to take a look at the vast menu before taking our order - they even have a breakfast menu which is served until 12pm. My Daughter had a coffee which came in a cute cafetière and I had a hot chocolate, which unfortunately wasn’t hot, but being our first visit I didn’t want to make a fuss and just drank it as though it was a luke warm chocolate nesquick with the sugar cube I’d put in at the start still whole by the time I’d finished it. I’m sure if I had told the ladies that it was only warm they would have changed it for me with no worries. I’ve also enjoyed a lovely strawberry milkshake in there which was surprisingly quite thick. I’ll be going through the other flavours over our next few visits.There are lots of homemade cakes in the fridge to tempt you if you have a sweet tooth, but we can’t risk the extra calories, so just stick with the drinks for now.After we finished our drinks and very much liking the look of the Luxury Afternoon Tea on the menu, We discussed with the ladies about spending the afternoon here for my Daughter’s birthday in May - The menu shows that it comes with tea, coffee or squash (unlimited), finger sandwiches with salad garnish and homemade coleslaw, homemade cakes, fresh fruit and a homemade scone served with clotted cream, butter and a pot of jam. They advise to book and pay upfront for the afternoon tea so they can get it all prepared beforehand, but my Daughter is awaiting her date to return to the Army, so we’ll need to leave the booking until the last minute in case she gets a call beforehand; but we are definitely excited to experience our very first Afternoon Tea together.Well done ladies, you do a great job of looking after your customers. We now look forward to our weekly Mother and Daughter Bluebird Tearoom Time.

Loved it! We had tea, cakes and sandwiches. The place is a traditional tea room and decor matches the style. My daughter said 'this place is for old people' Lol, the decor had a traditional style that suited the atmosphere. The food was amazing, the milkshake was spot on. Everything tasted lovely and freshly make/cooked. Highly recommended! Love it.

Good all round with a wide selection of dishes catering for all tastes. This establishment is highly recommended.

Visited here on Saturday lunchtime for a cream tea for two of us and the other two in our party had Paninis with teas and coffees. All of our food was freshly prepared, beautifully presented and of the highest quality. The tea rooms are very quaint with a nostalgia theme and offer a very delightful place to enjoy a breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and really want your business. A lovely visit - thoroughly recommend.

I having been told how nice it was here, I booked the tea rooms as a surprise treat for my daughters 30th birthday and we were not disappointed. The staff sang happy birthday and put a candle in a cake , they even bought a card and flowers!The sandwiches tea and cake were delicious, I don’t know why we have not been before, but will definitely be making it a regular treat!I cannot thank the staff enough,I would highly recommend a visit , just for the tea, there are lots to choose from and the cakes are divine!Thank you so much , you deserve every success

Have been a couple of times for afternoon tea. Was able to choose sandwich fillings as we booked in advance. Beautifully served. Tasted amazing!!! Staff were lovely and kept the tea flowing. Would definite recommend

Lovely breakfast I picked out my ingredients and it was delivered very tasty and just what I ordered. I will visit this quaint little cafe again.

A group of us arranged a get together and they looked after us brilliantly. We were not sure how many would make it as we are all disabled and belong to the same pain support group and none of us are ever sure how we will be from day to day but they put us a large table ready and added more as we needed it. They were more than happy to do separate bills for each person or couple and the food and service was excellent. When I said I had to leave early as my husband had a dentist appointment and the dog was in the car on her own now they immediately told me I could bring her in and not only fetched a bowl of water out but some dog treats too. We were all so impressed by the welcome we received that we have booked our next get together there and will continue to use them instead of moving around as we originally planned

My hubby and I had a very pleasant buffet breakfast, friendly staff and eclectic surroundings , and not to hard on his wallet !

Located in a good place and plenty of space. Family friendly. Food all made fresh and good portion sizes. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a favourite place to visit with both friends and family. Lovely surroundings with a relaxing atmosphere. The food is good as well. It is also one of the few places that serves plain scones as I have friend who does not like dried fruit. Pot of tea and scones highly recommended.

Selection of 4 small sandwiches, scone and 3 small pieces of cake, unlimited tea and coffee, other drinks extra. Really not worth £15.

Visited with daughter and granddaughter for lunch. Selection of food was good from snacks to meals. Portions are generous, beautifully presented and served with a smile. Tea came in china pot with fine china cups and saucer. Selection of cakes and scones. We had scones which came with cream and jam. They also serve cream teas and have a good selection of breakfast meals. The place is quirky and comfortable where service is excellent and you can enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace. There is a large car park behind which is 'pay and display'

Laura and her team should be proud of themselves. The ambience, furniture and decor are all reflective of each other. The menu has an excellent choice of homemade food and the half a sandwich and soup is delicious and excellent value for money.

Tried it. Welcome totally absent. Ordered second round of tea. Pot brought to table but no thought of tipping slips from or replacing cups with clean ones. No second jug of milk offered either Sloppy, uninterested service. Won't visit again.

We had breakfast good butchers sausage and bacon beans for the wife, I hate beans, mushrooms granary toast. Hot tea and food.

Went as a group of 7 for breakfast a few weeks back..Very slow cooking the breakfast (over an hour) even though there was 3 members of staff and there was only one other person in there... The young waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there.. when breakfast finally came it didn't all come together which was poor. Eggs were hard..bacon was burnt.. sausages were nice though if not luke warm... We requested some items were taken off for 3 breakfasts... Not offered any replacements and we were also fully charged which I thought was wrong.. veggie/vegan breakfast is a joke..we also noted food on the floor and tables were dirty.. staff/owner just sitting around laughing and joking with each other.. in summary.. very poor food and service and very unprofessional.. unlike last the last time which we enjoyed. Total waste of £70 odd pound... Won't be returning..!!

Read the good reviews and thought we would give it a try. Sadly we were disappointed! We were a party of 5 adults - all wanting to try the cream tea experience. Our coffee and tea arrived in generous pots. Unfortunately the coffee was quite cold and needed to be drunk instantly! The cream teas arrived a little after. At first glance it looked pretty in the three tiered holder. The sandwiches were nothing special - cucumber in white bread, ham and pickle, cheese and pickle, salmon and cream cheese. There were two thin slices of cake (carrot cake and fudge cake) and a stale scone on the top layer. The scone was dry and there was not enough cream to really cover the scone. All the ingredients were of poor quality. This was all capped off with unfriendly service (no smiles here!) and an entrance door that kept jamming and leaving us freezing cold - don't sit near the door on a cold day!

Met my friend here for lunch, its surprisingly bigger than you realise. Was busy but didn't have to wait long for our food, which I must say was really tasty (large portions) really lovely tea room. The food was fab and staff very friendly. Have since taken my Mum and Nan who loved it too.

Wieder waren wir im Tearoom und es war wieder unglaublich! Wer einen echten engluschen Tee möchte, der sollte das nicht verpassen dahin zu gehen! Immer wieder gerne!!! :-)

It is a pity that this quaint restaurant seems to be losing its grip. The ingredients are good quality and it was once A 5 star place but not at the moment.

Met my friend here for a coffee & a chat, very friendly & welcoming staff. The hot chocolate I had was lovely, & it has a wonderful atmosphere. Would recommend this tea room.

First time here for breakfast and unfortunately not that good but the service from the young lady was excellent

First time for buffet breakfast, and will also be the last. It was not a good experience. Credit to the young lady at 'front of house' she was up against it and remained polite, focused and apologetic across the dinning area to all customers.

From the moment we walked through the door the staff were very attentive & the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The food was excellent - tasty and hot. A most enjoyable visit & we will definitely be going back very soon.

I’ve driven past hundreds of times and never thought to go in. My grandparents wanted a nice place for lunch and this place sprung to mind. It was quirky and the staff were friendly. The food was good and the cake was delicious. I will definitely going back soon!

We are local but never seemed to have time to try this amazing tea room.We had lasagne which was very tasty (my husband is a chef so he is hard to please with his food) and a ploughman’s lunch which was presented beautifully .The staff were very welcoming ,we will definitely be going back for more.

Visited many times and each time the food has been excellent, nothing seems to be too much trouble. Lovely music and contents of Tearoom are for sale (even the chairs and tables). Well worth a visit.

Really nice place.. we had full English breakfast which I have to say was delicious.. tea was really nice as well and served in bone China cups which we liked. Good quality ingredients.. I've scored a very good as it did take about half hour to arrive and it wasn't that busy either.. I understand that everything is cooked fresh but was still a bit long. Apart from that I would highly recommend.. look forward to our next visit.. hopefully an excellent next time

Nice lunch with 3 generations enjoying a light lunch. Only criticism was the toilet facilities which were a little tired looking. Otherwise the staff were very friendly and helpful .

Had breakfast with a friend this morning, came quickly and was delicious! We both had Eggs Royale, for 6 pound was 100% worth the money! Jess our waitress was lovely, smiley and loved a chat. The cakes looked to die for as well, all homemade! Will definitely be back to try the lunch menu in the near future. Thanks so much for a great experience :)

This fantastic tea room with its eccentric retro styled interior and made on site seasonal food, is a really local gem. The staff are brilliant they know the menu really well so if you have an intolerant they can cater for it.

The atmosphere really is made by the care that goes into every detail by the staff and how welcoming, genuine and friendly they are! On top of this the food is absolutely delicious and there is so much variety especially for vegetarians and vegans. The homemade scones were amazing, couldn't reccommend the tearoom enough it was a lovely afternoon!

The staff are so friendly and welcoming couldn't do enough for us very attentive. The food was delicious and all home made, there was plenty of it we had to take some cake home. The resturant its self is very cute and homley and the menu caters for all diet vegan,veggie,gluten free which I was very impressed with. Will definitly revisit.

service is always good and traditional values of service however it is always advisable to book however you can pop in and ask all food is really fresh and the scones are fresh baked on site

I had the £6.50 buffet breakfast & doubt I’ll be eating for the rest of the week! I hoed into the pork based delights consuming by the pound, not the slice! The buffet actually has a more varied selection than the bespoke option.

Had lunch with my wife,lovely sandwiches with salad.very good coffee. Very amiable staff.The restaurant is guirky in a nicest possible way. Some furniture and paintings are up for sale.They also do cream tea which I heard is very very nice.

This is a good place to go for a light meal or snack, or just coffee and cake. Sandwiches are freshly made to order and cakes are home made. Service is friendly and efficient.

Ok for a get together not cheap I was not impressed with the sandwiches or cakes I had a voucher which was a present but I won’t be going back not impressed sorry!!

We had a wonderful time at Bluebird Tea rooms. It is an adorable restaurant with delicious food. We ordered the sausage bacon quiche, bacon avocado and cheese panini, cream tea, carrot cake, and walnut coffee cake. Everything tasted wonderful and we left very full. The prices were very reasonable and the service excellent The owner was a lovely woman, who made us feel completely at home. I would highly recommend this darling restaurant to anyone visiting Clacton-on-sea
