We visited with friends whilst staying in the area. Would advise to book for bigger groups in summer as it was very busy. We sat outside and enjoyed great food with very prompt service despite how busy it was, everything was very tasty and freshly cooked. Would definitely recommend if in the area, great location right on the beach. The only issue we had was finding parking as the car park was full and parking in the nearby streets is not that easy.

It's always nice here - just always very busy, so try to go on a weekday, although you can reserve tables inside, if it's a very busy weekend day. It's a lovely spot on the beach, and they have lots of tables, many of which are under cover outside, and they are very dog friendly. The staff are always friendly and nice. The food portions are huge and good value price wise. I had the smaller portion English breakfast, and it was still a huge plate of food, and as for my friend's club sandwich, the huge portions were comical! They will give you a box if you can't eat it all. It's always fresh food, and good quality, and I especially love their vanilla milkshake.

This review is rather overdue. As an autistic adult it is rather challenging to visit cafes due to crowded environment even though with my dog. Since the day i first visited to the cafe (have been visiting Blue Bird cafe for sometime now) I felt calm and welcomed thanks to the amazing staff. They are professional yet very friendly which easier for me to order without getting anxious. They are dog friendly so my support dog also loves to go there and have a cheeky dog sausage as a treat. Food is delicious and good quality thanks to their amazing chef and the kitchen staff. I want to take this opportunity to big thank you making me so comfortable and welcoming without you guys realising.

We have had lovely takeaway fish and chips from here before and was so looking forward to another takeaway experience. In the past we were so impressed with the fish and little pot of mushy peas and salad included, it was so lovely. Sadly, after ordering two large cod and chips and gulping at the price of £28 but thinking it’ll be ok as it will be nice and a large portion, we were disappointed. There was no salad and mushy peas, the cod portion was so thin and small and mainly batter (overcooked and greasy) with chips that tasted like oven chips. In the past the batter on the fish had been light and pleasant and chips were what I’d call proper fish and chip shop chips. Had the price been cheaper I may not have thought about it but I definitely thought the cost compared to what was received was very disappointing.

On a very rare outing to Worthing we parked at The Bluebird Cafe in Ferring Lovely food at good prices - we so enjoyed our visit the whole ambience was good

Taking a walk along the English Coastal path from East Preston to Ferring we called in the Blue Bird Cafe for a lunchtime snack busy place with a large staff serving the tables the food was very good we had Bacon Brie and Cranberry on brown bread that came with a leaf salad nice and tasty and freshly prepared indoor and outdoor tables Idealy positioned overlooking the sea Carpark at the rear. Well worth visiting.

I came into bluebird this morning for brunch to enjoy the pleasant weather. A young man was working the till and asked the female manager a fair question, only for the manager to say something along the lines of “use your brain”. i was taken aback by her choice of words toward her younger male coworker who was clearly slightly nervous but nevertheless welcoming and respectful towards me. her attitude towards him seemed unnecessary. Despite, the food and coffee was satisfactory, but i felt the need to leave a low star review because of this exchange between the staff.

Lianne was able to fit us in at late notice for Father’s Day and it was fabulous as always. The team accommodate your any meal changes and diary requirements. Whilst it is always busy, breakfast always comes out in good time.

The location is superb, the service totally welcoming and the food quality brilliant! We’ve lived in Ferring for over 40 years and come rain or shine there is always a welcome for you at the Bluebird Cafe…… Dave

This a a great cafe and on previous occasion we have been very pleased with our food. The staff are super efficient and friendly which is great as they are constantly on the go. As a bonus you can now book an indoor table on line. I ordered the chicken and bacon sandwich expecting sliced chicken and strips of bacon however it was all mixed up chunks and crumbles of bacon. I was a little disappointed however the chips were good.

It's been nearly 3 years since we last visited Ferring and in particular The Bluebird. We thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips at lunchtime as we have done in the past. Good service and staff. It was good to be back! Our thanks as well to Simone for looking after a bag that we had left accidentally. We'll be back next month.

We were out for a drive locally and decided to give this place a try on an unexpectedly sunny Good Friday. It’s a bit off the beaten track but we were pleasantly surprised to be able to park right by the cafe. It’s a good location as it’s right on the beach. Ideal to sit out and have a meal or a drink. It was quite busy as it was sunny but we got a table outside in the sun. We decided to make this our main meal of the day so my wife had scampi and I went for the Haddock and chips. The food was produced in quite a quick time and waiting staff were very pleasant. My wife’s scampi was ‘ok’ but I must admit my fish was pretty poor. The size wasn’t massive and the batter which is a large part of the meal for me was pretty drab. This was backed up by what seemed to be ‘oven’ style chips. Certainly not the seaside fish and chips I was hoping for. On the up side it’s dog friendly and you can park right by it. The coffee was also pretty good. We don’t live too far away so will probably go back but not for a main meal.

From the quick & friendly service to the food this was ideal for lunch. The chips were the best I’ve tasted for a while & the salad accompanying my toastie was an interesting mix with a delicious, light dressing. Only downside was the shortage of toilets. My food arrived when I was still queuing but a minor gripe. It’s also incredibly dog friendly which we loved.

Bluebird Cafe is great, especially if you love dogs! The food is always good with generous portions and staff are friendly. My only problem with it is they only allow 1 hour 15 mins when you book a table and as soon as your time is up they evict you (very politely). This really doesn't give you much time to eat and have a coffee if you're catching up with someone, especially if you've been delayed. I think it's a bit mean by the management.

Made our first ever visit to the Bluebird cafe today. Really great breakfast menu the only downside is that one of us was gluten free and this meant the sausages were not an option. I had the eggs Benedict as a real change from heavy fry ups, the other chose the Gluten Free breakie which was a substantial offering.Gert lush. A GF sausage would have made for a six star review !

I was trying to take my parents (both in mid 80’s) out for lunch at the Bluebird, we arrived a bit late for our table on Saturday, having been significantly delayed by the road closures in East Preston (a 10 minute trip by car took ½ hour). When arriving we were told that we were now too late for our booking, and our table had been given away. There was no possibility of getting another table inside the café at any point in the next 1.5 hours. We were invited to sit outside and order which we ended sitting in the tent but was not ideal for two octogenarians. Luckly, I had some spare blankets and hats in the car. We did end up eating and by parents enjoyed their food. We love the Bluebird and would go back but this experience does give you a bitter taste, if visiting then be away that they will give away your table with little chance of getting another one if they are busy.

Met friends yesterday for christmas lunch. Excellent service. Being vegetarian would rather have had nut roast instead of roulade being a christmas meal. Shame there was no stuffing. Unfortunately the sprouts and carrots didn.t appear to be cooked - rock hard. Otherwise everything was perfect.

We regularly visit the Bluebird Cafe for brunch or lunch and a walk on Ferring beach with our dog. This time we were there for a Christmas lunch with friends - our first at the Bluebird. It was outstanding. The food (Turkey, Duck and Skate wing) was delicious beautifully presented restaurant food in a beach cafe. The staff were unfailingly friendly and the service was perfect. Incredibly, they continued to serve their regular menu and cheerfully carried out some complicated table shifts to accommodate the booked Christmas diners. We loved it!

We've been for coffee many times over the last few years and it is a lovely place but on the most recent visit, it felt grubby and sticky. There was also a member of staff painting a table by the counter as you walk in. It isn't a cheap cafe so not really good enough.

The staff were helpful and efficient throughout our time there and the food and drinks were delicious. Highly recommended.

Had breakfast here, and it was the best we've had anywhere in the local area since moving into West Sussex 4 years ago. Friendly staff, efficient service and quality produce cooked perfectly. Good coffee, milkshakes, and cake selection, too. I would thoroughly recommend a visit. We'll definitely be back again soon. The lunch menu looked good, too. It's worth booking, as it gets very busy.

After a lovely walk along the beach from Littlehampton we called at the Bluebird cafe for a coffee a one way system to adhere to Covid regulations after making payment your drinks are served at the rear of the cafe take away cups in cardboard tray outside seating Lovely cups of latte coffee very welcome and enjoyable. Well worth a visit.

Very disappointing visit. Although the Covid serving system is efficient at the cafe the Coffee was weak and the Fish & Chips very disappointing -thin fillet and soggy batter inedible and overpriced . This used to be known for its quality ingredients and good value - standards have definitely fallen . Unlikely to return.

Ordered toastie that comes with a salad specifically asking for no dressing on it as can’t tolerate mustard or vinegar, but of course came drenched in a dressing that also covered half of the toastie...Should have checked straight away but I didn’t...Ended up with aching stomach and rather bad headache that lasted for two days. That’s not the first time it happened in this cafe hence this review. If the staff does not understand how important it is to comply with customer’s requests they should get proper training or change the job.

Visited the Bluebird today (26th Feb 2021) and bought two bacon sandwiches and two black americano coffees. This totalled £14.80 !The bacon sandwiches were £4.80 each and definitely not worth it.In Goring you can get a coffee and a (better) bacon sandwich for £3.50. Less than half the price of the Bluebird.This place is clearly just fleecing the passing clientele of beach walkers. I won't be going back

We had a takeaway due to COVID, and our food was great! It's reasonably priced and was all packaged in sustainable materials, which I loved. The vegan sausages were really good!

We called in at the cafe to have fish & chips and it was disappointing. The portion size was very good but the fish was undercooked and only warm by the time we got it.And whatever you do don’t ask them for a saveloy because they won’t know what you are talking about.We asked the young lad for one and he didn’t know what it was so he asked his young colleague and she shrugged her shoulders so he asked what looked like the middle aged chef and he said what’s that!That wasn’t a problem we just found it very funny that a cafe specialising in fish & chips had no idea what a saveloy sausage was

my friend recommended this cafe and im happy to say i wasnt dissapointed . I had a big fry up and it was lush , everything was cooked really nicely and the staff were lovely . I also would highly recommend their coffee as it didnt taste bitter at all . Would highly recommend popping in

We went for a lovely walk and ended up here, we had coffee and lunch, felt very safe and well organised, we ordered a really tasty sandwich and side of chips , the guy that called out our order, was a breath of fresh air gave brilliant customer service, a real credit, he was in the outside cafe up the steps, Thankyou again, and brilliant value for money.

We were used to be regular visitors until the coronas put a stop to it, so this was our first visit this year. What a superb job they have done in accommodating the rules. We thought it was even better than before with a brilliantly thought out outside area. We had excellent sandwiches and served very quickly. The outside marquee has demonstrated someone really using their brain, making an excellent area in most weathers. We have a dog with us so prefer to sit outside anyway, so this suits us just fine. Full marks to whoever thought it out and also to the staff.

My wife and I were out walking and stumbled across this great place.We hadn't booked but they managed to find us a table.As the title says, everything was great with the food tasting amazing and the staff very friendly. Also the place is taking the COVID rules very seriously but in a very friendly way and we felt super safe!We will definitely be coming back

I just ordered a portion of chips which were very nice and also very hot and i got some icecream which was very good but slightly overpriced . the service was very fast and it being right beside the beach was an added bonus , highly recommend

Be aware that although the café clearly states 6pm closing, they are not keen on you going into the café after 5pm.When I asked on Sunday, could I get coffee and cakes at 5.15 I was sullenly told, were "were closing soon" and wasn't offered any options to even have something outside. Clearly wanted to go home

Found this cafe by accident after walking and exploring Ferring a few days ago so thought we’d pop in as it was early evening. Great service, generous portion size, well cooked and very tasty fish and chips and free salad. Food freshly cooked and hot. Cutlery etc in paper bag. Tables well spaced and right by beach. Will definitely return.

Came for brunch on a busy Sunday morning. Had booked a table ahead of time. Covid measures all excellent and felt very safe there. Food as tasty as always. One of my favourite places on the coast.

Went here for a coffee and a bacon sandwich this week. A marquee has been erected with additional seating. Very well organised. Pity that the toilets could only be used by people sitting inside. However there are public toilets in the car park. If you do not like dogs, it would be very difficult and I would have thought that nearly 90% had dogs with them.

I have visited this cafe twice now first time We just had a takeaway coffee. It wasn’t very hot, but tasted ok. so second time we ordered food My husband ordered cheese and onion toasted sandwich, the Cheese was so bland, all He could taste was the onion, I ordered a egg mayo sandwich, and was give a fried egg sandwich and mayo sandwich, which was inedible. Can’t workout why they are so busy.

Had bacon and sausage sandwich, well packed and tasty, coffee unfortunately was only warm. Ate outside which felt fine, no evidence of tables being sanitised,social distancing worked well,friendly young staff. Local Council need to clean /monitor public toilets on a regular basis.

After doing the beach clean at Lancing we drove to Ferring for lunch at the Bluebird. Haven’t been for a couple of years but still great food & drink for a reasonable price. Lovely walk along the beach too.

This café has gone far beyond many others in how they help provide a great customer experience since the lockdown. All seating currently outside but soon to be inside too on a booking systemEfficient system to order food since reopening and friendly staff will provide your order directly to you and at your table if seated. Changes have been made which have helped so many diners deal with the challenges of Covid restrictions. Thanks for everything team

I would highly recommend The Blue Bird Cafe. We moved to Sussex over four years ago and fell in love with this hidden treasure. Sadly, since then we have moved three hours hours North. Tonight we came back to the cafe for the first time in a while and as ever they never failed to impress. Unfortunately I have an allergy to potato when advised of this they offered to make me a suitable alternative. Needless to say it was fantastic. Often I feel like a burden with this allergy but the staff were great and super friendly - not that common in many other places! Thank you very much, it was truly appreciated! We will continue to recommend you to anyway heading your way!

My mate regularly visits Ferring and is always raving about the food from the Bluebird Cafe, especially their breakfast offering and the fish and chips.We didn't try any of the breakfasts, but we did buy the fish and chips which were superb.You need to queue up to order and pay, then hang around waiting to be called until it's ready.We did'nt use their tables,we just ate our lunch from the polystyrene containers with plastic cutlery and condiments provided whilst sitting on the beach.Public conveniences are adjacent to the car park

Love Ferring and have been visiting this little cafe for decades. Unfortunately this visit wasn’t great. I understand that due to Covid, businesses have had to adapt but Bluebird are not looking after their loyal customers very well. Overpriced & underwhelming food in polystyrene takeout boxes. Charging same prices as if we were sitting in the restaurant but food not as good, nearly £9 for a jacket potato & limp salad? 50p for a half filled tiny pot of sauce? Ordered chips but they wanted £2.00 for ketchup & vinegar? Not one table was sanitised whilst we were there. Come on Bluebird, do the right thing. Your loyal customers are supporting you throughout Covid..... why don’t you look after them?

We were recommended this cafe and were not disappointed. Really well organised in line with Covid 19 and service was quick and efficient. We both chose the small breakfast box which was so tasty and just the right size. Sitting in the sunshine for breakfast was a great start to the day! Will re-visit without a doubt!!!

Yesterday I with five friends had yet again a wonderful experience for lunch at The Bluebird Cafe As usual food was excellent and so was the locationMy main concern for this review ( although I do realise it was indirectly take away) the lack of following Government Guidelines To obtain food you had to queue outside with others ( not always socially distanced to place your order After the order had been placed you had to wait until it was ready to collect by yourself and take to your selected table All food was placed in a brown carrier bag with disposable cutlery and salt pepper in small sachets which was quite except-able I was under the impression of Government rules of table service only and taking of name and phone number for tracking which was not asked for I did not see any sanitising of tables or seats which I do understand could be difficult as they are made of very old rough wood The toilets across a small car park ere at midday incredibly wet under foot which could be a slip hazard also could have been cleaner around basin area and sillI can rate only a four due to above details which I found on this visit usually I would have rated five

We have always enjoyed the food in the cafe but got a takeaway today due to Covid and it was every bit as good as eating in. The salad was fresh, fish, chips and scampi and childrens nuggets were crispy and just delicious! Sauces were provided and service was pretty quick considering how busy it was. Very impressed.

A great place for breakfast or lunch or just a coffee or an ice cream. Perfect jacket potato’s too. The fish and chips are amazing and just perfect to sit and eat them on the beach.

Here is a suggestion for a wonderful day. Drive to Ferring. Get some lunch from the Bluebird Cafe. Eat it on the beech. Relax. Try the calamari, its particularity good.

What a wonderful place to visit as lockdown eases and we can visit the seaside again. Our visit last weekend was late afternoon and after a leisurely walk along the beach and green areas we went to the Parlour for our fish and chips. A well ordered a short queue, plenty of space to wait for food to be freshly cooked in socially distanced manner. Service with a smile too. Our fish and chips were sublime and served complete with ketchup, tartar sauce, vinegar, salts and peppers and serviettes so surprised to read in earlier posts moans about extra cost.. We pottered down to the beach and sat and enjoyed the evening sun. Planning another trip imminently for brunch. Highly recommend.

I like many others like to visit the Bluebird café. Especially so during these difficult times. The Bluebird café has things pretty organised at their two take away points. But I was very unhappy to see that there were no signs advising their customers that their paper cups could be recycled, by either putting them inside the large red Biffer bin, or by taking them home and placing them in our own home recycle bins. I was further upset when I soon saw that the two council black general waste bins, one along the the greensward the other side of the metal gate and the other along the path towards Goring were both over flowing with these used paper cups and the polystyrene (Not compostable/recyclable) containers that the café has decided to use. I wanted some chips but would not entertain the packaging. Come on people and cafe owner lets not forget our environment. There is apsolutely no excuse.

Visited today very busy but great Service and food was good to the only thing is they charge the earth for sauces and other bits.There are things that could be changed to make this a 5 star experience. But over all a good experience would use again.

Sorry about the blunt title to this review but I would love to hear the Owner’s response to the last review, and now from mine.The criticism concerns the ludicrous cost of condiments at the Café, when added to the already very high prices for food. When we ordered our snack last week we asked for brown sauce and vinegar, as obviously they could not be left for general usage in the present circumstances.When our baps arrived we did not check until we had found a place to sit down outside and then realised we had two brown sauces and no vinegar. It was not a major problem, and with so many people queuing and around the collection area it seemed churlish to go back.So that was fine, a simple mistake. However, when we returned home and glanced at the itemised receipt we found we had been charged 50p per container of sauce. That was utterly scandalous as there was, at best, a teaspoons worth of sauce in each container.Even at the normal retail price of, say, £1 for a bottle of brown sauce there was less than a penny’s worth – and, of course, the café would buy the sauce in much cheaper catering sizes.The food itself was very nice, but overpriced – just under £5 for a bap with sausages in it! Sadly, the café can charge what they like as its location guarantees their success – much to the local’s chagrin I would imagine, with cars overflowing from the car park into the adjacent, otherwise peaceful, streets.I had not seen the previous review until after we returned home and the question of the 50p charge is raised there. I noted that the Owner did not respond which, of course, they always have the right to.Will they respond to this further review on the same subject? Come on Owner – please respond and try and justify the 50p charge for a fraction of a penny’s worth of sauce. Your reply should make interesting reading.Will we return? Not a chance. Blatant profiteering and just taking the proverbial out of their customers.

Ate here this evening, scampi and fish and chips all tasty. Portions not over large, but for me that's fine. It's not cheap, but it's on the beach and the food is cooked to order. However, frankly I resent having to pay £1.50 for 3 portions of vinegar. Come on Bluebird, we know it's tricky at the moment, but this is not what you should be passing on to your customers. You gave us nice salads with our fish and chips but, as tasty as they were, actually, it's fish and chips, no salad needed. Charging £1.50 for vinegar spoils the customer experience and you need to rethink. I am not a moaner and I do not like to complain but this extra charge shows a little disrespect for your customers who are loyal to your great café. Rethink needed.

Been here tons, every time good service and great food. Our family have been coming here years, my mum had her 50th here and loved it, all in all a great restaurant.

Was great to still be able to get takeaway food from the Blue Bird yesterday after all restaurants etc have had to close. We really tried to keep our distance from people & do the responsible thing but unfortunately not everyone was, they seemed more concerned with ordering & collecting their food. Might be an idea for a notice to be put up & for staff to remind everyone to keep their distance. Fantastic food as usual though & so pleased to find you open.

Ordered a cheese burger and a cheese and bacon burger. We both left most of it. The burger patties are very thin and tasted rancid. Very disappointed. I give it a try every now and then but quality just does not improve. Such a shame, they could really make their mark but seem to be complacent.

Walked 5m up the beach and back to this cafe on the sea shore. Looked inviting and popular as it had a queue out the door. Grabbed a seat inside to relieve us from the gale. The food and drink ordered we settled in snug. Food arrived pretty quick, good service and piping hot. Sadly my cheese and tomato toasted sandwich was accompanied by a lengthy hair, sandwich returned. Wasn’t too much trouble for them and said sandwich was replaced rapidly. Disturbingly this place allows dogs in who on the whole bring in dirt, stink of the sea and jump around and climb on the counter. Having dodged dog ‘tod’ for most of the walk - it’s not very inviting to eat / drink in a place where dogs drag this in.summary - fair service, busy, smelly, pricey and hairy.Probably won’t return.

This place is a little Gem. Called there Monday lunch time and was packed with people queuing for a table. Excellent hot food, very clean including WC’s! Well staffed all working to the full. A must visit if local or in area on holiday. Dog friendly and right on Beach, just a few yards from the water.
