Blue River Cafe in Islington

Nice local breakfast spot. We were the only tourists on the day we visited. We all had the English Breakfast set- 2 with vegetarian sausages. The meal was delicious and filling. The cafe is small and thus very cozy. Wished we could sit outside, but alas, the English weather prevailed and we sat inside.

Small cafe with reasonable prices by London standards, serving hearty food. Recommended.

Found this cosy cafe by chance-so glad we did. Exceptional service, the staff were fantastic and friendly. There was a good menu with a choice of vegetarian. We didn’t have to wait long for the food. My omelette was perfect and so was the falafel wrap. The prices are reasonable too. I would definitely recommend anyone to go here.

We were early in the morning, pleasant atmosphere, fast service, delicious and fresh everything. The place is small but nice, there are not many tables, the omelette is perfect, and the tea is delicious.

Lovely neighborhood cafe for breakfast, brunch or a quick meal. Tucked in on a quiet peaceful street just steps away from the the bustling kings cross station area. The place seems like family run and has an intimate and cozy vibe which is something I’ve always been fond of. We came here for the traditional English breakfast and were not disappointed. Foods were well-cooked, served hot and fresh, and we love the way everything was delivered, nothing fancy but feels home style and hearty, exactly what we were craving in a beautiful morning in London. Our breakfast even comes with complimentary hot tea/coffee, and to our surprise they don’t charge service fee on top of the bill! Yummy food, generous portion with very fair price, lovely atmosphere, all that made us very happy customers. We hope to come back next time!

Petit resto qui ne paie pas de mine mais qui est excellent pour le petit déjeuner. Il y a peu de places assises mais c’est ce qui fait le charme de cet endroit. Le personnel est très sympathique. Les assiettes sont copieuses et très bonnes.

Classic old-school "greasy spoon" café. Numbered set breakfasts with tea and toast. Sausages of the type you don't find anywhere else. Customers include regulars and men in high-vis' jackets. No pretensions. Perfect.

My regular Cafe at Work and been coming for years. In an area where the all the Cafes are good this one has always stood out. The fried breakfast is exceptional as is all the other food. Fast friendly service to boot this has a hard core of regulars as well. Takeway option available

Wonderful café and family tucked away near King's Cross. This ticks every box for me when I look for a full English. No frills, no funny additions, just a really good breakfast! Too many cafes / restaurants try too hard with the humble full English and ruin it in the process. I don't want to be surprised or delighted by something novel, I know exactly what I want on that plate, and Blue River Café delivers on that with some heart. Places like Blue River Café are vital to our communities. For me, you can't get much better.

Really tasty breakfast with good variety but more importantly, English breakfast and eggs benedict. Fresh OJ was a big plus and the tea and coffee were great as well. The staff was lovely and helpful. Looking forward to visiting again on our next trip!

Great food and good friendly service

The atmosphere in the cafe reminded me of small diners I've seen in American movies - very cosy and homey, giving off the impression of being famil-run. They had delicious cheap coffee (£2.5 for a good quality cappuccino in London? Unheard of) and their food was pretty good. I tried the cheese omelette, which was very soft, creamy and cooked just the right amount. As for their salmon bagel - I could see that all the sandwiches/paninis and bagels were pre-made and stored in cling film, and although they heated it up a little, it was barely warm. However, I'm sure that next time this issue could be easily resolved by asking the staff to heat it up thoroughly. The staff were very friendly and kind.

Delicious full English breakfast at this cafe. I enjoyed all the items including sausages, bacon and hash browns. Really great to see the breakfast comes with 2 sausages as many London cafes serve just the 1. Breakfast comes with tea'coffee. Cafe is small but there is available seating outdoors and indoors the tables are clean. This cafe I highly recommend and I'll visit again to try their burgers as I saw another customer with this and it looked really good too!

A great cafe. We spotted it on our travels and called in. The nice man opened the door for us and led us to a table. We all had a lovely breakfast with everything cooked beautifully. The coffee was great as well. It was very reasonably priced as well. It’s hidden away and a little cramped but very nice in London. Will be going again when we are in the area.

Affordable English Breakfast. Good portions and great location - 3 minutes walk from King's Cross, max. Food is prepared quickly too, so it's a great option if you've got a train to catch!

Driven by the encoraging reviews, we went there with friends visiting from Italy. We were not disappointed. Good coffee and great full English breakfast. Place is clean, well organised, staff firendly, prices honest. We will go back. Recommended.

We ordered the eggs Benedict and salmon eggs plate. The hollandaise on the Benedict was too thin and bland, but the eggs were poached perfectly. Also I would have liked it if the ham had been cooked a little bit? Just a suggestion. The scrambled eggs in the salmon plate were quite uninspired, salmon was nice and fresh, hash browns were absolutely perfect. Nicely browned and crunchy on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside. Coffee was ok. Interior was sweet and classic.
