Amazing food such lovely service ! Would Highley recommend best chinese we have ever had so keep on going back ! Thank you !

Walked in the restaurant at 19.00 and seated at table for 7 we had to ask for drinks our order was taken at 19.30 for starters and duck middle course we wanted to wait before ordering mains. Complementary Crackers and dip arrived 15 minutes later having had to ask! Starter arrived and were average to good and then had to wait until 20.45 for duck. The service was slow and not very apologetic we left after the duck course around 21.20 and did not order mains as we ran out of time. Not a good first impression for a birthday celebration. Very disappointed.

Eaten here several times in the past year or so. Rather 'old school' and traditional in it's decor and menu but all the dishes were well cooked and tasty. The service is really excellent.

翌早朝にガトウィック空港から出発で、空港内のカプセルホテルに宿泊でした。その前に夕食を済ませようと、近在のこの店を訪れました。メニューに揚げ焼きそばらしきスペシャル焼きそばと焼き餃子を発見したので注文しました。細い麺を揚げていたので、最初のみクリスピーでその後は柔らかくなっていましたが、具材の炒め方と餡かけの具合も良く美味でした。餃子はメニューではグリルドとなっていたので焼き餃子を想像しましたが、揚げ餃子でした。しかし味は良く、生姜千切り入りの甘酢のソースと辣油との相性も非常に良かったです。夜食用にシンガポール炒飯をテイクアゥェイしましたが、これはカレーの風味が殆ど無く期待外れでした。値段はポットのジャスミン茶を含めて約25ポンドとイギリスにしては良心的でした。周囲は18時半以降路駐可能で、その点でも便利です。ガトウィック空港利用の際は再訪すると思います。

This use to be my favourite takeaway but last night I ordered King Prawn Chow Mein and I had 6 prawns in there and the rest was the noodles. The Chicken in Oyster sauce was in a small container and really not worth the money. Sweet and sour chicken balls were the only thing that was lovely. For £19.75 I won't be going back. Really gone downhill. The portions use to be really generous........ Shame

Food here is always awesome wether you eat in or takeaway, atmosphere of the restaurant was a little better when * Danny* was there , he knew everybody by name and treated everyone as an honoured guest. However, staff are friendly enough and attentive but don't really understand my jokes. Unfortunately only takeaways are available these covid days, the food remains awesome and invariably arrives hot and on time. Only criticism I could make is that due to the popularity of the place ...its very hard to get thru on the phone and sometimes we have to call less favourable establishments......its a hard life

Wonderful takeaway, super fresh and great flavour. Picked it up and was lovely and hot. Recommend The stir fried vegetables in Oyster sauce were lovely.

I've had 2 takeaways over 3 months from Blue Lake and both were very good. Varied menu and good food. What's not to like?

These guys are currently still only doing takeout but we had a very enjoyable one a few weeks ago. The sweet and sour is really tasty and their Singapore rice was fab. I definitely recommend this place.

Ordered vegetable chow menu, egg fried rice, sweet n sour, king prawn curry, seasame toast. Unfortunately the food was terrible - tasteless and bland. Straight in the bin.

Had the misfortune of walking into this vile establishment. We walked in with our 19 month old, no smile or hello, just "we don't have a high chair " , rude vile staff. Would recommend people give this place a wide berth there are plenty of other better Chinese restaurants in Horley

This was our first visit and we will definitely come back. The staff were welcoming, attentive and friendly. The food was amazing. Everything was cooked beautifully and eating was a real pleasure. I can definitely recommend this restaurant.

Went on a busy Saturday night to celebrate a birthday - staff friendly, no rush, great food. I agree with all the positive reviews - -if you like chinese food it is simply a nice place to eat.

A welcome return to the Blue Lake where we found we were the only customers as it was a lunchtime. The menu has been updated, as has the all included buffet, but that has sadly also brought an increase in price. However, the service remains as excellent as ever with the 2 delightful girls ensuring that all is in order. Strongly our favourite Chinese restaurant.

My husband and I have been traveling in England for the last few weeks and we have had some outstanding meals in York, Oxford and Cheltenham. It is our last night here before we leave tomorrow and we had the misfortune to try this restaurant. We were willing to try the set menu for £22 each. We ordered a Tsintao each and a few appetizers and we were surprised when they arrived. Our hot and sour soup was overly thickened with cornstarch and all other offerings were deep-fried. After this course we were unable to eat anymore since what was to come would have been the same quality. We asked to pay for what we had and we were still charged £36 for this “meal”. Where we come from— if a customer is unhappy with the food we humbly try to make things right. There was no attempt to accommodate us at Blue Lake. We would have been happy to pay for what we ate but they insisted on taking more. My advice is to not order from the set men and instead, order one dish at a time to see if you like this food.

Stayed over in Horley during a business trip & fancied a Chinese meal, having searched on TA I went to the Blue Lake & was not disappointed. Polite staff & good food at a reasonable price

5 of us went for evening meal which was excellent very tasty Chinese food served by the two sisters very busy restaurant and doing a lot of takeaways well worth a visit if you enjoy Chinese food

While on vacation in England we stayed at a B&B in horley and I was feeling poorly and didn’t want to go out for dinner. Got take away from Blue Lake which was delicious. Had the chicken fried rice & wonton soup. Perfect meal to fortify while having a terrible cold. Will definitely go back there next time I’m in this area.

Six of us went last night for a catch up. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive and friendly, even offering suggestions on dishes. Most importantly we were asked whether we had any food allergies. We started off with crispy roast duck and pancake rolls with spring onions and cucumber and hoisin sauce. Afterwards a medly of dishes including king prawns with ginger, crispy shredded beef, roast pork and singapore vermicelli and special fried rice. The portions were generous and we were too full for dessert. The wine was good and so were the beers. We had a lovely evening and will return soon.

Absolutely love this place. Tried a couple of months ago and don’t go anywhere else for Chinese now. Massive portions good value for money. Delicious. First question they ask when you ring for take away is “any allergies” which is great I don’t have any personally but with food these days and nuts being used is some food it is really good they ask.

You don't have to have the banquet menu but we did and it was excellent value for under £20 a head. 5 courses and everything was excellent. The staff were lovely and very attentive too. I couldn't fault it.

1st time we used this restaurant, and it won't be the last. Everything was cooked well and very tasty. Dealt with a very friendly member of staff. Much nicer than any of the Chinese restaurants/takeaways in the Merstham and Redhill area, worth the drive over.

Blue Lake is our go to Chinese takeaway. The food is always excellent. On a recent trip to London we popped in on our way home for a sit down meal. We don’t go in often but when we do as usual the food is superb as is the service. We will definitely be going back.

If we fancy a Chinese takeaway, only one place to go, the Blue Lake. We have never ate in, its always takeaways, but would have no problem in doing so. The food & service is excellent & the prices are good for what you get.

After reading the reviews we were expecting a decent meal but were left very underwhelmed.

My partner and I ate there this evening. We chose the £19.80 set menu. We both had a soup, 6 starters, Mongolian lamb and 4 main courses. I gotta say it was tasty and we both can't believe the quality of all the dishes. The waiting girl's was very polite and efficient. I will definitely visit again when we fly into Gatwick.

We came to the Blue Lake on a Thursday night and had a great experience.

This is the only Chinese Restaurant in Horley and luckily it is very good- The a la carry menu is very good value for money with you choosing dishes brought to your table by very friendly staff ( Mum and two daughters) well worth a try

The food is flavoured extremely well. I usually struggle to clear my plate, but had no problem with their food !

We always eat here when travelling from Gatwick £5 taxi fare from the Airport Since our last visit the Restaurant has had a makeover - a great improvement both inside and out. The food is fabulous so make sure you book

My aunt and my Dad go here regularly but I must admit I wasn’t sure about Sunday lunch at a Chinese. I needn’t have worried! I read a few trip adviser which seemed excellent although with a faint obsession on the decor which frankly we barely noticed. The reason for this is that the food is wonderful and plentiful. In fact I am still feeling well fed the next morning.

This was our first visit to the Blue Lake, we didn't realise that they offered an 'all you can eat' à la carte menu (priced at £19.50 a head). We skipped the soup course and went straight for the appetisers opting for a mixed platter. The food was very good and plentiful (we didn't need to order more starters!), Next was the duck course (lamb was also available), again very good. Then the main course, to be honest we didn't need any more food! but we sampled a few of the different dishes, no disappointment! We didn't opt for the desert.

I was recommended this restaurant by friends and as live near to it but had never visited it or even heard of it so we decided to try it. What can I say.. I would give the food 10 out of 10 its amazing. Probably some of the best food ive ever tasted and I eat out a lot. Its a buffet type food but made to order and brought out fresh. There are so many dishes to choose from. Its amazing value to at just over £19. Its small and i wouldn't say romantic but a nice looking average place. We just unfortunately had one of the waitresses who was very curt in her responses. She may have been more than a waitresses as seemed to converse with the customers more then reasonably expected but we found her manner to be a tad impolite. Would I go back there, absolutely, but if Blue Lake read this review I would hope they realise this is the impression you left upon us whether you were aware of it or not. This would have had 5 stars had it of not been for that waitress. Highly recommend for an evening out at probably the best Chinese food ive ever eaten in my near 50 years.

My partner and I were looking for a Chinese restaurant that did a buffett/All you can eat on a Saturday night. All the local ones had poor reviews so we spread the net and found the Blue Lake had good reviews and only a few miles away.

We tried to get a booking there and every time they picked the phone up my hubby got hung up on which wasn't nice it was my birthday he tried over 20 times. Got through to another resturant with no issues at all. shame

Surprisingly good. Food was excellent, better than the exterior or decor indicated. Ideal if you're staying at one of the Gatwick hotels and don't want to pay for over-priced food. Only a 5 minute drive with easy parking, comprehensive menu and reasonable prices.

We had a great meal here and fantastic friendly service. We came for lunch on a Sunday and beautiful place with nice decor.

Although frequent visitors to the Blue Lake, we have not visited for a few months and were very impressed with the latest offerings. The meal was even better than previously - very fresh and excellently cooked. The decor has also been improved and now has a much enhanced oriental air. With improvements planned for the outside of the premises, everything is looking good for this fairly unknown, family run restaurant. As ever, the girls (including Mum) were outstanding hosts and we look forward to another visit in the near future.

We arrived not booking a table, was seated quickly and many tables were occupied so clearly this is a popular Chinese restaurant. The ladies who served us were very friendly polite and pleasant. The food was lovely. Just the right amount with dish so nothing was wasted. I can’t remember the cost of the meal but remember it was accurate for what we had including beer & wine! Can’t wait to go back, thank you

I have visited her twice recently, once with my partner and the other with my family. On both occasions we all had the buffet. This is all cooked to order and comes out in a timely fashion. Really makes for an enjoyable and relaxing evening. The menu choice and food is great and the service also very good. Nothing bad to say about this place and we are all now regulars.

Wanting to stay clear of our airport hotel’s restaurant we headed into town and settled on Blue Lake.

On hearing some good news on Tuesday of this week, we decided to celebrate with a takeaway. King Prawns with seaweed, chicken chow mein, chicken and cashew nuts and sweet & sour chicken Cantonese style. Absolutely superb. We normally get it delivered but as the weather was bad I picked it up myself. Greeted with smiles from everyone, it was ready on time and a last little it of service from Lauren who opened the door for me. We never go anywhere else for our Chinese food as we have always had excellent service and always had superb dishes.

Don’t let the ‘not to extraordinary’ outside or a normal interior fool you. Food was absolutely excellent and quick, service was friendly and we left there wanting to come back. We will be back if flying from Gatwick again in future...

Managed to book a table last minute and they squeezed us in. I’m so glad they did! The service was so warm and friendly and despite being busy the staff were attentive. Food was excellent and we weren’t rushed between courses. The waitress picked up that I was vegetarian and said there was oyster sauce in what I had picked. This wasn’t a problem for me but good that she knew the menu and the product. All in all a very lovely evening and we will definitely return again!

Had the banquet meal which was really good. Prawn toast fab, ribs excellent, soups great. In fact all good.

We booked a table for 7 on Saturday evening , (but onky a few tables occupied so probable didn't need to book ) as three different families we asked if seoerate bills was ok , were told no problem , we tried to read the menu in very dim light place felt dingy .Kept being ask to order our drinks , but we asked if we could order food first ! After being pestered , we were then told that although both the main menu and the banquet menu had been given to us , that we all had to order from the same menu , each family had to order from the same menu ,( and also that any food uneaten could not be taken away ) when we pointed out that we would not be on the same bills so why did we have to have the same as our friends? We were told that we had to say which menu we all would order from so the other menues could be removed , at this point we left and walked down to the Curry Bengal where they were full but happily moved tables to accomodate us and we had a delicious meal served by pleasant staff . Will not go to the Blue lake again plenty of good chinese restaurants not to far away .

went for a birthday meal was shocking to say the least. foul attitude and disgusting food not like it used to be with the previous owners . 1 waitress named lauren couldnt fault her. all the other waitresses if you can call them that are disgraceful . dirty restaurant , awful food and trying to make you rush will not be going back !

Fantastic freshly prepared food, we had the banquet menu with loads to choose from and plenty of it. Service was very attentive, with helpful and polite staff. We will definitely be returning after finding this hidden gem.

We stayed in the holiday inn Gatwick the night before our flight. The hotel restaurant was busy so I looked for local restaurants. The car had been handed in for on site parking so we walked here, it took about 15 min. The restaurant was extremely busy and we were lucky to get a table so I would advise you pre book. The all you can eat was excellent and it's not a buffet so it was all freshly cooked and hot. The staff were extremely friendly explaining the concept and advising on the dishes. I can't wait to visit here again on my next trip.

This restaurant has a comprehensive well priced menu. Food is excellent on all occasions and served by attentive and plsant staff.There is a wide chiuce of alternaive options on the menus making it ideal for family gatherings.Always adviseable to bgook as is very popular especially during the summer season.Drinks and wine menu are comprehensive and fairly proced .

Arriving just before 10pm we were pleased to find the restaurant open and taking new orders. Parking was readily available on the roadside directly outside the restaurant. The décor is typical for such an establishment. We were met by a very charming waitress who showed us to our table and quickly took our drinks order whilst we viewed the menu. The food is typical Chinese restaurant fare. I ordered the hot and sour soup followed by sweet and sour chicken served with egg fried rice. The soup was of a very large portion and certainly lived up to its name and was very pleasing to the palate. Likewise the main course was of very ample portions and again very tasty.The 2 friends I dined with were similarly complimentary. Payment for the meal was also conducted in a very friendly and efficient manner. To summarise we would all certainly pay a repeat visit when next in the area

Been in a couple of times now and love it . they accommodated a large number of us for a large Christmas gathering and cannot fault either the food or the service. Today i went in with family and both the food and service was supberb . cannot wait to go back again .

we flew into Gatwick the night before we went to Jamaica and after reading the reviews we decided to visit the blue lake for the set buffet. The food was excellent the staff were friendly. Every dish we had was cooked to perfection and believe me at 20 pound a head you will not leave hungry. We cant wait to go back again and try some of the dishes we didn't have.

We seem to have breezed in on a night when lots of regulars were in because we were a minor distraction and had a bit of bother placing our order. The food was really poor. Wet and flavourless vegetables although the squid was okay. Far too expensive for the quality and wouldn't go back under any circumstances. I had take out Chinese food in China town in Soho this week and it was in a different class.

We always have the all you can eat buffet menu, the food is cooked to order. The only thing that wasn't to our taste is the Hot & Sour Soup. The staff are always friendly and we always have a joke about how we eat so many starters that we only eat a small main meal. Also, you never feel rushed, even if its busy.

We had a lovely meal! The service was good and so was the house wine! A very pleasant evening! Would very much recommend the Blue Lake.

Just a Tuesday night stop in Horley and famished after a busy day. Found Blue Lake via Google and took a look. Welcoming Windows and a couple of other early evening diners so gave it a go.Noticed the crisp fresh napkins (always a good sign) and impressed with the range of food on offer. Wine list also reasonable. Duck for me and satay chicken for my wife together with special fried rice and mixed veg. All very good.

I was brought here a friend who chose this restaurant due to its high rating on tripadvisor. It is run by a Chinese family originally from Macau and it is very popular with British locals. The menu is the usual Sechuan dishes ordered a la carte or as set menu. We had a few dishes, the best being the crispy duck with pancakes and Chow Mei noodles. The remaining dishes were either too salty (tofu in black bean sauce) or flavourless (smoked chicken) - a shame, because the service was excellent. We spent £100 for 4 including wine, tea, sparkling water and service.

The food at this restaurant is fab. The all you can eat Buffett is great value and the food is cooked to order. The decor could do with an update but this doesn't matter as the food and staff are very good

This place was choose to host our Christmas Party, and it did not disappoint. The food of course was all the classics, but the food was amazing. Cann't wait to bring the family.

Blue Lake has become my new favourite Chinese takeaway in Horley. I have visited the restaurant only once but have ordered takeaways many times now and the food is brilliant. Always tasty, fresh and the delivery is very quickly.

I visited here for the buffet that they do. Never having been to a Chinese buffet before I expected the food to be out and you go and get what you wish. But no you order off the menu what you want for a set price . The food was really good and the prices were reasonable for Chinese. The prawn toast was brilliant.

The interior decor of this restaurant leaves a lot to be desired, these days people want modern, neat and clean. This restaurant is old, the decor dates from the 70s, and the atmosphere is cold and dark. The food is ok, just, the children liked the crispy duck and the noodles, but for something a little bit more sophisticated, go elsewhere. Will not go again unless the children want crispy duck desperately. The service was excellent, best thing of the evening.

We visited here last Friday evening as a family of four. We had the all you can eat menu and thoroughly enjoyed everything we chose. We did think there were a lot of rules with this menu. But we chose wisely and there was no waste, however I'm sure lots of people probably try it on a bit and order rediculous amounts. They seem to have had a staffing change since last time we visited but they all seemed very efficient, friendly and helpful. The restaurant was busy but they coped well. Can't wait to go again.

There was too much traffic to head home after our trip from Gatwick. So I decided to find a place close by to eat and came across this place. The food was great and the staff was so nice and accommodating, it's definitely worth a visit!

Searched TA in the vicinity for a Chinese meal whilst staying at the airport hotel. Whilst this had mixed reviews we decided to give it a try and were pleased that we did.On arrival, the restaurant is not much special with office style ceiling tiles sparsely decorated with Chinese paper lanterns.We were warmly met by the young serving staff and were attended to promptly and politely.There is the option of an all you can eat buffet style menu where you can reorder a fresh dish of food if you finish the one you are eating - more of a challenge for very hungry (greedy!) diners. We plumped for the 'a la carte' menu. Both of us ordered a rice each but the waitress was kind enough to suggest 1 rice and 1 noodles as each one was quite large. We decided to share 1 portion of rice between us and order another if needed - it wasn't. This is refreshing that the staff are willing to save the customer money (and waste).The duck, curry and special fried rice were very tasty and I would eat here again if in the area. Thie price was reasonable especially if compared to hotel restaurant food.The waitress was also kind enough to lend me her phone charger whilst we ate - going the extra mile?

When we walked in I was a little put off by the appearance and decor of the restaurant. But don't let that put you off, the service was very good and the food was very good. Piping hot and very tasty. Will definitely go back again.

I went with a friend last Saturday evening we had not booked so we were lucky to get a table as the restaurant got busy very quickly. Very friendly service we were made to feel very welcome. We also had the buffet which is cooked to order very reasonable prices, and delicious food. There are not to many choices starter wise however everything we ordered was top notch. This is a very nice restaurant to visit and would definitely recommend to my friends and I will also be returning.

We have always loved the buffet at the blue lake and decided to visit with friends and children. It's £20 a head for all you can eat which isn't exactly cheap but the food is good quality and fresh. I explained my children didn't want the buffet and would only eat a bit of plain rice or noodle but the waitress was insistent on everyone eating from same menu. I said I'm not paying £10 per child to eat plain rice and she finally relented and let me order plain rice and noodles from the other menu. As usual food good but the restaurant looks tired and dated.When the bill came, to find plain rice had cost over £4 and plain noodles £5 ( which they didn't eat) I was a bit shocked. The bill with drinks for 4 adults was over £100 and you would have thought they could have given my kids a bit of plain rice costing pence to cook for nothing bearing in mind how much we were spending!Anyhow we won't be going back anytime soon unless they offer some deals to entice me back. The place was empty. Why not offer kids eat free on a Sunday or something?It's much cheaper and you get better service towards kids at nearby Indian restaurants such as kids eat for free on a Sunday etc.

Really nice Chinese food, we went for the freshly cooked buffet, compared to home it's a bit pricey but this is Surrey! Really nice dishes and so long as you clear the dish, they are happy to keep bringing more. Excellent way to ensure customers get good value without wasting food. I think it's a family business and that shows in the care given to customers. Restaurant was busy on a Thursday evening, to me that shows it is good. Yes, all in all an excellent meal and overall a very pleasant evening.The Blue Lake has good reviews on TA for a good reason... It IS good!!

Have been looking for ages for a decent Chinese all you can eat..and thought we would try here!! And we was extremely impressed!! Food is cooked fresh to order!!! And so so tasty!! Very welcoming and friendly staff. Was a great way to spend my birthday child friendly too. We will definitely be back.!!

Just brilliant! We randomly found this on a search of Chinese restaurants within a certain distance from home, and couldn't be happier with our find! Lovely food, but the real winner here is that they are so knowledgable about dietary requirements. I have a nut allergy and my mother has a shell fish allergy. The wait staff knew the ingredients to every dish and advised accordingly. It really took the stress out of dining out. I can't thank them enough.
