Blue Lagoon Fish & Chips (Renfield St) in Glasgow City

I recently visited Blue Lagoon and had an amazing experience! The Fish and Chips were absolutely delicious, with perfectly crispy batter and tender fish. The chips were golden and fluffy, making for a classic comfort meal. Our host, Nina, was incredibly warm and friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. Great chippie with excellent service.

The chips where hot but had little taste. I'm not sure they weren't frozen. One of the workers kept touching the battered sausage with his hands and not the spatula.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cheeseburger, chips, and cheese; I did not anticipate such a flavorful burger from a chip shop. OKMAR provided excellent service and ensured everything was satisfactory.

Great food, fantastic atmosphere. They are very inclusive with their dietary choices- halal, gluten free etc.

I ate it packaged. There was a lot of food and it was worth eating.

Don't recommend pizza 😞 it's deep fried prefer fish and chips or macaroni cheese.

I won't be back, all I ordered was 2 portions of 3 fritters, ordered at 12:45 told my delivery would be around 13:20 which I thought was acceptable, so around 13:40 I went to cancel and couldn't cancel, they arrived 14:10 and fritters were warm at very best, I took instant bite and didnt get burning feeling you'd normally get, fritters didn't taste nice at all, waste of money.

The guy serving was tapping a plastic box constantly and as obviously as he could as I was trying to order my meal, which just made me have to repeat my order as he was clearly looking straight through me and couldnt care less- now I've ended up annoyed at the man, and also with having paid 16 quid for two sausages, a small chips and a curry sauce, Ridiculously priced from a rude and arrogant man

Asked for chips and cheese for my autistic son and the chips came plain he can't eat them without cheese so a total waste

Was in today at the takeaway section.Guys at counter were talking to each other in their native tongue.Despite me telling them twice what I wanted.The guy that replied must have assumed I was hard of hearing shouting what can I get you ?Waiting about 15 mins for my order.Chips had been mashed into the container.Bit hit and miss at times more staff training customer service needed.

I visited blue lagoon on Saturday night for dinner, the food was excellent. Young guy around in mid 20s in round specs served… he was very kind and supportive.. the service was best… For sure will recommend to friends and family.😌

Would highly recommend I have been coming here for years and the food is always good and the staff are always very friendly and helpful it's a must for anybody to go and try 👍👍👍👍

I asked for fresh and they give me redone food. The fish was burnt and chips were burnt and overcooked. Just awful. Won’t order and do not recommend

chips and curry were old and cold, cheese didn't even melt on them. pizza was good and hot

We went for a quick byte, ordered from the menu, and they ended up charging us extra £10 for fries we didn’t order (but that they added on top of the fries we did order without telling us). When paying, the cashier said that he didn’t take the order so it wasn’t his responsibility. It sounds that they do this often, so avoid it at all cost, total regret.

We walked past the restaurant on our way to our hotel and decided that we should eat there! When you go inside, you immediately get the feeling you’re under water with the nice decorations🛥️🐠🌊 We were immediately greeted by our waitress Nina. The food was really nice, great portions too! We were both stuffed when we walked out. Enjoyed it very much!!

We chose a set meal which includes bread,butter and tea or juice.We never got bread and butter but as our meal was sufficient we didn't question it. When it came to paying I mentioned that we hadn't had bread and butter so assumed that it was deducted from bill.His reply was.... we hadn't asked for it!!!!Jeezo what planet are you on ,it's included with the meal.Laughable really

Every time i order from here they leave out items. Previously it was a whole fish supper and today it was mushy peas. Do you not check everything is in the bag before sending it out?

The food hasn’t even shown, ordered it at 17:35 it is now 20:21 and it says on it food was delivered at 20:35 I don’t know how they work that one out, if there travelling to future or what, but it ain’t here, so we called them and the guys on the phone were pure rude, speaking in the own language saying nothing they can do contact the delivery driver knowing fine well we can’t & then kept talking to each other in own language n hung up, completely ridiculous and ignorant.

Clean, friendly, bright and cheerful restaurant area. Plenty of seating, I was greeting a friendly manner as I walked and shown to a table. I ordered one of the specials, The Captains Choice, for £13.50. This was tea, a slice of bread n butter, fish, chips and curry sauce. You get a few choices but that was my choice. I was starting to think it was taking quite a while, then it arrived at my table. The thought of the wait being a little long was forgotten as it was 100% cooked fresh to order (the fish). Very good quality food. The restaurant also had toilets downstairs, also very clean. If I was to give a point of improvement- I would suggest a better quality ketchup in the bottles that are on the tables. Highly recommended and easy to see why this chain of fish & chip shops have grown within Glasgow City Centre. The story is on the back of the menus!

Had breakfast here...both ordered the 'quick breakfast '. It was delicious....freshly cooked. We were served by a very pleasant lady. We were only visiting Glasgow but if we lived here we would most definitely come back.

Lovely restaurant, with plenty of choice and lovely staff

The environment is truly unique and very beautiful. The waiter who served us was very kind and helpful in answering our curiosities/doubts about the menu. By choosing the Captain's choice you get a plate of Fish & Chips (their specialty) with a side dish of your choice and some bread with butter, and it's all really worth it (cost around £15 with drink included). The cheeseburger was also very popular! We don't know what the other places of the same name in the area are like (among other things, the chain is of Italian origin), but we chose this place specifically because it was the best rated.

A restaurant that specializes only in fish & chips...the food is delicious and the service is wonderful...an employee named Adama is cheerful...fast...she really knows how to treat customers. I wish her the best...I recommend the restaurant to fish and chips lovers

Went here on the 13/7/24 for a bit to eat b4 heading home my hubby had chips sausage curry sauce I asked for single fish don’t eat chips and from a young age single fish in chippie was always two but no I got one over dun fish no side salad nada and I paid 10.70 all in with two cans of juice I was just under £30 that to me was overpriced for wot we had and it wasn’t that great but to b honest it was the staff member asking me to pay upfront as they were apparently closing which I didn’t mind to do only for 3 other couples to come in after us so there was no need really disappointed in the service and overall experiance

The place was nice and clean, the fish was flavorless and had too many bones for a fillet, the fries were not crispy and a bit cold

We are 4 ladies on a trip. Had a beautiful meal of fish, chips, bread & cups of tea. Absolutely beautiful. Very reasonably priced. When our lovely server saw our bus tour leaflet she gave us 10% off from the coupon. We didn't even need to ask. A must do if ever in Glasgow.

Sit in before theatre, fish tea, I choose coffee ,my wife tea, tge coffee was horrid , it's never seen a coffee bean ,it ruined the whole meal , I'd rather pay extra to enjoy my experience,and have a proper coffee rather than a cup of chickory, but when you do cheap coffee you lose people like me

Very nice and well-kept place, extremely kind staff and generous dishes. It looks like a classic diner, with tables and sofas overlooking the street. I loved it, I would go back.

The fries were rancid Mayonnaise just tastes like garlic Fish and Chips only taste like motor oil, we had to remove the breading from the fish to be able to eat it Fried smell that permeates all the clothes Not very attentive staff: you can't order alcohol, they didn't bring us glasses or split the bill I am horrified and outraged

If I could give zero stars I would gladly give them. The air doesn't circulate inside the place, it smells of fried food, nauseating to say the least; poor food, fish that tasted like nothing and soaked in oil. The only non-negative note: nice and helpful waiter, but it's not enough. 18 euros very badly spent. I absolutely do not recommend.

As soon as we entered the smell of fried food was unbearable. Added to this are poor quality food full of oil, fish and chips left on the plate. Highly not recommended!!

Picked the captains choice and the food was amazing. In fact it was such a big portion I couldn't finish. The fish was fresh and the chips were crisps. Definitely coming back again.

Great service, friendly staff. Went in to try the infamous pizza crunch (1/2 portion). Definitely had crunch, great batter and a 1/2 portion was more than enough. Slightly too bready for my liking. Needed more cheese/tomato to balance the ratio. But maybe that's the difference between a 11am brunch meal and 3am antics

Popped in for a quick bite before panto. Great service, lovely food. Couldn't believe the size of my dad's black pudding! He asked for a box to take half home! Will gladly return next time we are in Glasgow.

We tried a deep fried mars bar (deliciously gooey) and some battered haggis (savoury and moreish). Nice experience all round.

Although there was an issue with the Just Eat online system, we managed to everything delivered safely. All I would say that as we had a large order, one delivery driver would not have been able to deliver it all, it took three. Food was great.

Five stars all the way! The service, the food, well trained friendly staff and the overall experience were outstanding. When we arrived was too busy , at that time an incident happened Nina personally came to each table to comfort each and everyone, her customer service was top-notch, and which exceeded our expectations we will definitely be a repeat customer and will recommend them to everyone we know.

A porção é generosa e, como sou glutão, alem de comer a minha porção, fui quase que obrigado (😃) a ajudar minha esposa a comer a porção dela. Não sobrou nada... Recomendamos.

We really enjoyed our visit to The Blue Lagoon. I booked as Friday nights can be busy. We all had special fish and chips with mushy peas and onions. Very Good. Service was excellent from all of the staff re booking and on the night. Nice relaxed atmosphere to chat and spend sometime with friends.

We tried fish and chips, fried Mars bars, and a jar of mussels. The fish was good, loved the fried Mars bar but was disappointed with the jar of mussels which was in the sides section, but was a jar with pickled mussels that you would get in a supermarket. Service can be much better.
