Blue Lagoon in Glasgow City

Food was oily however portion was HUGE. I ordered two fish cause i thought its gonna be small. I’d suggest for one person, 1 fish is enough. Bit tasteless. However food was served quick and no issue.

This location does not have a boat you can sit in while eating -- the one a few blocks away does -- but it's conveniently right under the rail tracks and has a separate entrance for takeout, great if you're staying at one of the nearby hotels and want non-hotel prices for fish and chips. The portions are large.

Robbed me last night £17: 50 for crappy horrible fish supper very untrustworthy staff basically stealing from the public horrible place greasy rubbish don’t go should be illegal disgusting people that do that totally unacceptable!!! Stop this practice don’t go there folks it’s awful

Brilliant staff that put up with alot of crap from drunken customers. However the food is not of the same quality as the staff. Single mock chop & king rib ordered - 2 identical items served that wasn't either of what I ordered (I believe). More oil than meat and batter, you would be as well serving cups of chip fat with a spoon. Unfortunate.

I ordered & paid for 2 rolls bacon and only received one I understand mistakes can happen &only reason I am letting you know is that is the second time lately it has happened but I am a regular customer and this won't put me off remaining a customer as I love your food I am just putting it down to an oversight hopefully won't happen again

Fuimos a cenar por recomendación de nuestro guía en un free tour, que nos dijo que era un sitio bastante típico, con fish&chips rico a buen precio y un postre bastante peculiar: una barra de Mars frita. Y fue tal cual nos había dicho. La comida estaba muy rica (fish&chips, burguer y la barrita de Mars) y la atención muy correcta. Lo único malo es que no había cerveza (no sirven nada de alcohol), pero luego hay un montón de pubs alrededor, así que no me parece que sea algo que reseñar negativamente (se puede comer con agua, refrescos o zumos).

Timing was not what was quoted at time of order. Said 25 to 40 mins. Was alot lonver by time arrived. Changed couple times. Food was so soggy, the chips were in 1 lump, batter on fish stuck to them. Gravy was not edible due to being congeled as cold

Y la bajó a la derecha de la pista dejada por los de delante. Sintiendo la base de su bota hundirse en la nieve con una resistencia mínima. En el vasto paisaje tranquilo de la Antártida el único sonido que escuchó en este punto fue el crujir de nieve debajo de su bota. Mil millones de pequeños bloques de materia congelada separándose por debajo de su peso. Este es el mismo sonido que escuché cuando mordí mi pizza crujiente el jueves por la noche. Mis dientes separan la masa y la pizza con la satisfacción más indescriptible. Compraría de nuevo.

Went in this evening 18th February 2024 at around 00:30. Just got off a seven hour train and fancied something to eat. I asked the gentleman behind the counter (black hair and black moustache) for a large chip with cheese and gravy and two battered sausages. He could clearly see I had a large bag with me over my shoulder. He proceeded to place the food on the counter on top of one another. Did not ask if I’d like a bag, did not ask if I wanted them wrapped. Is this the normal service in blue lagoon? He also made a very rude facial expression, rolling his eyes and literally throwing the food into a bag. With no paper wrapping either. I am a regular in this shop and consistently spend money weekly. He treated me like I was dirt on his shoe. Disgusting staff member and you have lost a customer.

I now live in aberdeen and can't enjoy a chippy the same so I go back home from time to time and enjoy a blue lagoon. The prices are fair the food is always hot and fresh. Parking isn't a problem it's flat a fentry and the staff are very friendly. There is an option to dine in or outside but we take ours to Queensferry and enjoy the view. We had steak pie, jumbo sausage, fish and chips. My husband is an aberdonian but prefers this over his hometown. We will be back again soon. Thank you.

They told us after ordering that we had to pay extra to sit down. Food was mid. Staff is rude and don’t speak clearly.

Enjoy myself once in two weeks. Staff very friendly and food cooked to perfection. Well done team. Always looking forward to visiting.

Made the mistake of ordering a veggie breakfast - don't know what I was thinking - couldn't finish the veg sausages & felt ill till next morning after the half sausage I did have!

Meal of fish(2) chips and beans. Chips and beans and batter were ok but fish was dry and flaky and tasted horrible. Suspect it was not as fresh as it should be. A place to avoid .

Travelling from Australia through Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany and the UK and was hanging for a good Scottish breakfast, Blue Lagoon did not disappoint. Great food and friendly fast service, than you Yvonne for a wonderful breakfast, see you tomorrow morning. Highly recommended

Delivery was 3 hours late and the fish was dry, you could tell it had been sitting for a few hours. The chips were cold! All in all absolutely shocking!! Avoid ordering from here unless you want to wait 3 hours for your food!!

No exaggeration, best fish and chips in Scotland.

My friend and I were looking for a place to eat a quick, non expensive dinner on a cold rainy night. We saw the Blue Lagoon and decided to go in. We were seated immediately and the waitress came over very quickly and took our drink orders. The menu is very extensive and fairly priced. The food was served quickly and I loved the fish. My friend also liked her meal. We were there around 6 pm and it quickly filled up so we got there at a good time. It seemed to have lots of locals there eating which is always a good sign.

Appalling it took over 1 hr to prepare a vegan sausage supper with a few extras. 1.5 hrs total. it takes 10 minutes to cook as I regularly visit the takeaway. I tried to cancel it as they pushed the time back 5 times as I had to go to bed but the Just Eat app wouldn't let me. I suspect it's because they had it in preparation mode since the beginning. I even tried to call 3 times but it just rang out. The delivery driver was fast and efficient though. He was nothing to do with the takeaway

I asked for fresh and the fish was over cooked and chewy, chips were the same. Disappointing. Won’t order from this place again

Bad service, made the mistake of ignoring warnings from locals. After I paid and sat down in the restaurant area I’m told I have to pay extra to dine in. Rather baffling as no signs indicate this and the restaurant was completely empty. Felt sorry for the worker who had to ask me to pay extra or leave.

Probably one of the best chippys I’ve been to, food is fresh and staff are lovely. Definitely will be back again

Just had my dinner at Argyll Street Blue Lagoon & have to say I was disappointed. For basic fish choice they offer usual battered version & super fish which seems to be in bread crumbs slightly more expensive. Fish chips & peas came quite quickly. Chips were OK but fish wasn't very good. Batter was very hard & fish itself was quite tasteless. Seemed to me it had been left cooked & unsold for a while & was waiting to be served up. Restaurant was quite empty around 9pm on a Friday. Decent value for a major city centre but just didn't think quality especially of fish was very good.

First time back in Scotland in 2 years - was really looking forward to a fish and chips! I never write reviews but am so disappointed I caved and wrote one for this place… We got a takeaway where we can’t necessarily comment on table side service, but my fish was taken from hot hold that was there before I ordered, it was incredibly dry, while the chips where quite cold - to the point where they are also dry on the inside. I was hoping a chippy in Glasgow centre would be great!

The absolute dregs of chips that look like they are scraped from the bottom of the fryer, topped with salty curry sauce. Expensive!

We came in here after reading many positive reviews about the food. We ordered a side of large chips and a deep fried mars bar with ice cream. The mars bar was fine, it was our first time trying so had no reference. The ice cream was meh. Seemed like cheap store bought one. The chips were horrible. A big soggy mess. Worst chips I’ve ever had. Surely a fish and chips shop should know how to make crispy chips. This was just an oily blob. I wonder why they have so many good reviews. Would not recommend.

Fun interior, excellent deep fried pizza

My guilty pleasure whenever I’m in Glasgow is a haggis supper (or tea). This time I pushed the boat out and ordered curry sauce on the side. And a cup of tea. Lovely and hot, fresh chips and a nicely crisp, battered haggis. A decent meal for any time of day. It was mid-afternoon (about half three) so plenty of tables available. Mellow atmosphere with just the occasional harmless drunk having a bit of a shout outside. The serving lady was pleasant and efficient as was the chef. Fab. Try it.

It is just under the train station bridge by the street, as shown on the address. Meantime if you add some vinegar and salt, fish will be even tastier.

If you are craving for one of the best (tried many around the country!) fish and chips in Scotland… come over here. Crispy and dry as it should with excellent service from Nico, Ivonne and Josh. We also had our first deep fried Mars bars which was delicious. Others just told us that the later were not done to avoid messing their oils or it was a myth! Deep fried pizza was another unexpected tasty surprise cooked to perfection!

I would advise people to avoid this place .Food is inedible, drinks are disguised. Toast was just a warm bread not really toasted. Black pudding :you could have hammered nails in it . Sausages were almost raw, bacon looks like it was freshly cut from a pig and never had seen a frying pan.One star for the eggs: they were fresh and warm .

I stumbled upon this place, walking around in Glasgow. And I stopped for lunch. I got the one piece fish and chips combo. The fish was huge. Plenty you do not need 2 unless you are a heavy eater Or sharing. I will say though ask for the french fries well done (because Great Britain does chips… but doesn’t know how to do french fries, lol)

Asked for haddock to be cooked fresh. Yes they did .Sadly, did not taste like haddock at all. Not a meaty fish like haddock. As I eat fresh haddock frequently. Living in a fishing town. Chips were all dried up. Like cardboard. Have been there before and fabulous. Not this time Staff lovely Sadly, will make me think twice about using again 😕

Staff was not friendly, overprice and waiting time was too long. Not ideal for travellers. Student discount is only for the customers who can proof student ID with expiry date, doesn't matter if it's a real student ID. If you fail to proof it, and you still want the discount, you need to ask the Uni to put the expiry date in the student card, because Scotland students' ID card have expiry dates written. So, not ideal for student travelling accross the UK, although the store is located around the Glasgow Central station.

Chain restaurant with various types of fried foods from savory to the famous fried mars bar. It's worth a meal, this one given the location is a little dim with natural light but I recommend it and compared to others of the same chain, given its proximity to the station, it opens even earlier.

Great place to enjoy fish and chips. Their staff member Adama was very kind and they cooked the meal as per my requirements (Halal). If you're in Glasgow, looking for delicious fish and a good atmosphere then definitely give Blue Lagoon a visit.

Terrible food and the manager ripped me off to the tune of £10 when she clearly asked me whether I wanted an extra fish for £3 (the deal set by the restaurant). So instead of giving me the extra portion of fish for £3 she gave me 2 portions of fish and chips for £23 while she could have availed me of the £3 deal + charged me for a small portion of chips for £4.40 totalling 7.40 instead of 11.95. When I called her out on it after paying the bill she wouldn't issue even a £5 refund told me she could get the manager to call me the following day to discuss! Never going there again...terrible food + rip off/insincere staff!

Honestly the most disgusting and greasy fritters I've ever seen in my life! Fritters should be crispy, these literally fell apart in your fingers! I used to like this place but my god that was minging!!

A little gem hidden away under Central Station. Excellent quality fish n' chip shop style food - it's not health food by any means, but if you're up for a bit of a "naughty" treat you can't go wrong. All meals are cooked from fresh, so while service isn't slow, bear in mind you won't get sit-in food at fast food speeds (there's a take-away section next door for that). The location under the railway viaduct gives the place a subterranean air, while the liberal use of neon in the decor makes you feel like you're eating out in an 80's sci-fi movie. Plus points: Central location Unique ambience Reasonable prices Excellent quality food Ample portions Friendly service Negative points: Not for the calorie conscious

Visited the Blue Lagoon in the evening and was amazed by the food and prices. A lovely little Glasgow restaurant takeaway in Argyle Street. We both had the Captains combo which was Fish in batter with chips, bread and butter, drink and side of your choice. Only £13.50 for all this and it was absolutely beautiful. Had the curry sauce side which I will never forget, Best curry sauce ever. Cheap and cheerful restaurant that you really should not pass, can't wait to visit again next time we're in Glasgow.

Halal food available We ordered fritters, burgers & chips & drinks ALL food is amazing. Very comfortable & clean restaurant & seating area. The only reason I’ve given lower score for atmosphere is the staff & service can improve. The young male waiter who served us was brilliant however the asian lady incharge did come across a bit agitated & rude. Please smile for your customers, it doesn’t cost anything. Thank you 🙏

It’s Not always About The Size….absolutely lovely fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce while my son had large chips with an apple juice and a bottle of water all for just short of £20,as I say the size of the portions are not the biggest for what you pay but for a extra £3 you can have a extra fish which I decided not to go for as i have been cutting down on my portion sizes and the amount of take away I’ve been eating..you can eat in the restaurant which is really clean with super friendly staff or there’s a take away option on the side of the restaurant,I choose the haddock fish as it’s my favourite and the quality of the fish was beautiful with proper homemade chips..highly recommend and will be visiting again next time I’m back in Glasgow…

Honestly, a very bad experience, if you are Spanish and you are in Scotland or the British Isles, I do not recommend going. They don't have beer, the fish seems frozen from the carrefa and they don't even gratin the potatoes with cheese. In short, poor quality fish and potatoes that are three days old. The best thing to highlight is the service of the waiters.

Service was quick enough (7pm), but chips and fish half cooked. Never again.

It is a very nice and decent place, the price is quite normal. Fish and potatoes are a nice dish, you can eat fish very easily this way. We ate the captain combo, it was a very satisfying meal, I recommend it.
