Blue Joanna Bar & Kitchen in Norwich

Four of us ate here last night and couldn’t fault anything fabulous atmosphere welcoming and fun and top notch food .

Absolutely lovely spot ! We had a few friends come up for the weekend and booked a table - the staff were super friendly and welcoming, the food was amazing - everything tasted delicious and full of flavour and as a vegan I was over the moon to have so many options ! The atmosphere is cozy and friendly and we felt looked after and treated ! An absolute must if you want a good evening of food , cocktails and great vibes ! We will deffo be back :-)

We ordered pork and beef Korean blue taco and it was 10/10. The meat inside was so nicely marinated and juicy! Their kimchi was so good as well close to as authentic as possible! And their cocktails were so good as well. The only let down was the Singaporean fried rice, wished it was more seasoned. The restaurant is ver reasonably priced for what you get. Cant beat that! Plus the restaurant was very cozy and well decorated, but there was not much seating so I would recommend anyone going in for dinner to have reservation. Overall the restaurant is 10/10! I will definitely be coming back for it again!

Great food and pretty speedy service (given the place is always full!). My favorite is the crispy pork.

Had a great time thanks to the friendly staff and the lively atmosphere. We tried several dishes as follows. The crispy pork belly with pickled cucumber, soy & chili dip was the highlight of our meal. The skin was perfectly crispy, and the sauce complemented it well. The Thai-style banana blossom ‘fish-cakes’ with sweet chili sauce were just okay. While the batter had a nice chili and sour flavor, the banana blossom itself was a bit plain. A bit more seasoning inside could have taken this dish from okay to amazing. The wasabi battered prawns with citrus mayo didn’t meet my expectations. The batter was crispy, but I couldn’t get any wasabi flavor, and the prawns themselves lacked seasoning. The citrus mayo also felt a bit too plain for my taste.

Great food, great service, great music. Company wasn't too bad either. Happy birthdays boys

Lovely tapas style food. Made fresh, you can see into the open kitchen as your food is made. Great service. Will be going back soon.

My friend is coeliac so finding a place that does a completely gluten free menu and risk free of contamination is very rare. The food is lovely, extremely tasty and the staff are so lovely and helpful. The atmosphere is lively and happy. Highly recommend!

We've been looking forward to eating at Blue Joanna for a while given its popularity. We had our food within 20 minutes of being there - it felt rushed. This, coupled with the dishes being served in diner-style plastic bowls and abundance of fruit flies, felt like fast food. This feeling was confirmed with most dishes, whilst being tasty, were deep fried, with very similar flavours across the board - miso, sweet chilli, mayonnaise. The service felt impersonal. Wouldn't rush back. However, reasonable value for money.

Highly recommend, great food, great host and staff, decent price. Looking forward to going back.

Had a lovely meal tonight, first time we have been and will be back. Being gluten and dairy free is so hard when eating out so to be able to eat everything was great. It’s all tasted great as well. Staff were lovely and worked very hard.

Yet another great visit to Blue Joanna! This restaurant has quickly become one of my absolute favourite restaurants in Norfolk. Atmosphere is spot on, really unique vibe which the place pulls off well; the staff are always friendly, helpful, explain how the menu works, and nothing is too much trouble. The menu choices are fantastic; really wide ranging choices that cater for pretty much anyone without being overwhelming. True mix of cuisines that they deliver with great taste and flavour. Everything is fresh, which you can see being cooked from the open kitchen. I’d recommend getting 4 dishes between 2 people, this always seems to work well for the portion sizes. Is truly some of the best tasting food I’ve had - with some real creativity. Still cannot get over the prices in this place - for what is some of the nicest food I’ve had, the prices sit below that of high street chain food easily.

Great place. All the menu is DF and GF with Vegan option. Only one thing the Aspall cider states draught, but it does come in a 300ml bottle🤔

Great Asian tapas, food amazing, staff Vey friendly and good value for money. Not a big place, so book or get there early. Outside seating. Always my go-to when in Norwich. Just can't really express how good it is in words...go and try for yourself.

We stumbled upon Blue Joanna during our stay in local area. The food, cocktails and service were insanely good and lovely atmosphere too. Even better, it’s all gluten free.

Next level all round - Go, eat, drink and enjoy a Norwich top foodies heaven!

Eccy and the team make birthdays SO special. Singing, candles, they go the extra mile every time. Food is delicious and service is amazing. Can’t recommend enough. P.s order the spicy mango margarita.

Great restaurant- great staff, atmosphere and food! Always a favourite for us, especially my 11 year old daughter and lucky that it’s close by. A favourite restaurant for us over the years. This was such a lovely spot, the food was all excellent and very flavourful, the banana fritters with miso caramel especially and the Korean tacos were amazing. Perfect portion sizes, lovely atmosphere very chilled out and non pretentious with very good food.

Fabulous venue. Small and unassuming. Tasty food, good beer and outstanding service. First visited in 2019 and was impressed! Even better in 2023.

Fantastic food and the cocktails are amazing, if you want to try this place be prepared to book well in advance!

If you like chaos then go there, but I felt exhausted after eating here. Service was attempting to be good but the food ordered was wrong, drinks mayhem, bill totally wrong and staff fly by and give you 10 seconds to order. The noise level was insane. Not my cup of tea but good food.

The vegan food here is amazing!! so many options. The restaurant is so romantic and the service is impeccable. Found our go - to local restaurant 😄

Sometimes a restaurant is just "right". After a cancelled train, we cancelled, then rebooked, and the people at Blue Joanna couldn't have been more gracious. The service is fast and friendly. The beers are pub prices and the food, Asian influence but not precious about it, is excellent. I really enjoyed it. And the darling daughter loves it. There is no higher praise.

They was full house and even managed to get us a table as we was only 1 day at Norwich. Amazing staff, top service and excellent food, not even mention such a selection of records. So far top global restaurant.

The food was amazing, the drinks were spectacular. The staff were super friendly and helpful, even though they were super packed they took care of you and the atmosphere was lovely. I cannot wait to come back. Really recommend the Korean bbq chicken wings and the teriyaki mackerel.

Not as good as last time I was there. The skirt steak didn’t come with kimchi as stated on the menu - not sure what that was, fried cabbage or onion? Defo not kimchi! Also the aubergine was undercooked. I hope the quality of the food doesn’t keep declining, as I generally really like the place.

Food absolutely slapped, the cocktails were lovely and it wasn’t too expensive at all! Great tunes too! Staff were nice too, food was quick. Best restaurant me and my girlfriend have been to.

Had the best pre birthday meal here. They catered to my allergy and made sure everything I ordered was safe to eat. They sang happy birthday to me and even gave me a free dessert which was very tasty. All the food was amazing, especially the tacos and the smacked cucumber.

We were at the table at the end where food was served and the lights were very bright! Music was a little loud as the evening went on and it was hard to hear conversation. Staff were great.

Third visit for me to the fabulous Blue Joanna, second time as a family treat to celebrate a birthday. The food is fantastic, the staff are lovely. As a family with some slightly complex dietary requirements, one vegetarian, one vegan and a coeliac, it is a particular joy that my wife doesn't have to stress about avoiding gluten. A great experience Asian tapas and late in evening guy played the piano someone played a guitar and a sing-a-long ensued, great evening.

Such a good evening. Delicious food, a great atmosphere, happy and friendly staff with great service. We considered whether there was anything we could have improved on and decided it couldn’t have been any better. Fabulous.

Definitely a great spot. Entire menu was gluten free which was ideal for my significant other. We had tacos, broccoli, slaw, pork belly, prawns, and deep fried pumpkin donuts for desert. All food was yummy and flavourful. Giving a 4, not a 5, as I wasn’t blown away with the food. The music was also a bit too loud. Would recommend for a nice dinner out with friends.

Tasty, shareable portions that were tailor made for lively conversation. Happy staff. Delightful atmosphere. Turning people away on a Wednesday eve... which all says something. Book ahead - but do book!

Quite simply the best pan asian cuisine ever. Highly motivated and friendly staff, amazing, freshly prepared food. Extremely popular, the majority of customer are regulars. We normally have to go to London for great Pan Asian food but we found the best on our own doorstep.

Ecky, his wife and the rest of the team made us all feel so welcome and they looked after us well. Ecky took control of us, as we were a rowdy bunch! The delicious drinks and tasty food were swiftly delivered to us. After dinner he played my favourite song and then he got his guitar out sang me happy birthday and then we had a sing-a-long for ages. My whole family and other diners joined so there was a great atmophere. Couldn't have asked for a better birthday! Thank you! Sarah x

What a great night at Blue Joanna. They catered for our party of thirteen with fantastic food and great service. The atmosphere was friendly, owners and staff helpful and fun. Our birthday party finished with a sing-along accompanying Ecky the owner. It was a memorable evening and we couldn't recommend Blue Joanna highly enough.

Visited Norwich for the first time and soooo happy we went to Blue Joanna. Really pleasant atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food is absolutely unreal! Had a few cocktails too which are also bang on!

Fantastic meal at Blue Joanna's this evening- everything was amazing! Delicious food, great cocktails, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere- if I lived in Norwich I'd be there all the time!!

The food and service here was great, and there was a reasonable choice of veggie plates, and portions were reasonable (unlike some places that do 'small plates'). My only criticism is with the acoustics. Although not exactly loud, I felt like the background noise of other customers rather distracting.

Great food, great atmosphere, great people! Definitely worth a visit, and I'm sure the vast majority of customers here are repeat. Location is fantastic too. Korean tacos, anchovies, white bait and wasabi prawns were all good.

Dropped in, spare of the moment on a Friday. No tables available due to demand but they found us somewhere. Food was incredible. Great beer and cocktail choices. Incredible pan Asian food. Staff were amazing. 100% recommend this place!!

Excellent restaurant. We ordered takeaway and waited only a few minutes for it to be ready. The food was excellent. The service was very efficient.

Fantastic place. Turned up without a booking and they went out of their way to fit us in. Food was great quality and came really quick. Great cocktails too. Lovely place and will definitely return.

Without a doubt 5 star all the way. I spent my 50th here with a lot of excited friends. Ecky was very professional and took all the decision making away for us which is what we needed. He gave us a lovely selection of food that covered everybody in the party from vegetarians , vegans , pescatarians and meat eaters. Blue Johanna caters for all, and it tasted fantastic. We laughed, sang and listed to some great tunes with cocktails- if you choose! A very personal and unique family run business. Goes without saying I highly recommend.

I cannot express in a review how amazing this place is. My partner Holly and I go here all the time, Ecky and Rachel are so welcoming, as are all of the staff. Everything is spot on: the music, the cocktails and the completely gluten free menu, which is amazing for my partner who has Coeliac disease. Our favourite bar of all time!
