Blue Fish in Taunton Deane

Fish flesh was yellow not nice white and fluffy, incredibly tough and smelt off would not recommend.

We just returned from one of the poorest parts of Africa and were looking forward to some proper british fish and chips as a treat on our return. Our expectation was demolished by the reality. Poor welcome and customer service, soggy oily batter that welded itself to paper and top layer of the very unpleasant mushy chips. Nothing was enjoyable about this experience..... we threw our overpriced meals away.

Rude staff and slimiest fish in town.

We just had two pieces of cod, and both were awful. The batter was as far from golden and crispy as it is possible to get - it was almost the same colour as uncooked batter, and the texture was so soggy It was impossible to peel it off it’s paper. We couldn’t eat it.

Mostly inedible poor quality, possibly old, fish that caused vomiting in the night. Large portions of chips do not compensate for this! Suggest avoiding.

They have a huge menu with fantastic choices. A treasured place in Galmington. There is so much choice there which was a real surprise for me and also very affordable.

Lacking in good customer service. Not a friendly greeting upon arrival. Batter on fish was soggy and was stuck to the paper. Chips were uncooked.

£2.90 for a bag of inedible chips....used to be ok and it used to be my go to place but it seems they are trying to increase portions by chipping potatoes into shards! I had to throw them away and I absolutely hate food waste. Atmosphere unwelcoming by the miserable, stoney faced man behind the counter..but probably smiling to himself for taking another £2.90 for £1 worth of average chips!...will definitely not be going there again...just ripping us off! I wish I could post a photo.

Fish n Chips - it shouldn’t be difficult. Soggy batter on the fish, soggy partially uncooked chips made for real disappointment. Have had great F & C from here in the past - time to look for a new chippy 😕

My lovely local chippy. Not the best chippy if you are a connoisseur, but tasty and happy enough that we are regulars, though my kids think not frequent enough

Went there last night, thought the chicken was weird and woke up this morning with a terrible stomach. I would avoid it if I was you.

It wasn't until I got home that I remembered why I never buy fish here. The batter is always soggy, and the fish is never properly cooked in the middle.

Easy parking great food big portions. Don't order large chips you will not eat them all but if you have a family then ideal. Good choice of food including kebabs

Found that part of our order was missing when we got home. Chips were soggy and unappealing, None of the food was that great. I was quite disappointed. Won't be returning in a hurry

The queue in front of me were quickly served by the hard working staff. I ordered two cod and chips. The fish were delicious and the chips had real taste. I definitely will use this shop again.

Chips are good some times some times saggy Some of the male staff are very rude if we say card payment they treat like we can’t afford the food. They are a bit cheeky in taking money from customers they push to spend £5 minimum if we say card payment Their version is to keep minimum spend 5 because for card transactions they have to pay a lot. In reality they pay only 5p for £3 transaction and they can make £1.50 profit. 😂

I had a large fish and small chips. The cod was cooked on order and the portion of chips was much larger than expected. The fish was lovely.

Had burger and chips from this place a short while ago. Whilst the burger was nice, cooked well and the bun was soft, the chips were undercooked. From what someone told me is that they always tend to be undercooked. It may be the deep fat fryer isn't the right temp, or could do with being turned up, but the place was rather empty and there was no reason they needed to rush. I don't live near this place anyway but I would not be a regular for the chips.

The food is simply beautiful. Ample portions, great range and super service. Not our local chippy (we have closer ones) but now won't go anywhere else! Top notch!

The portion size is great and is definitely enough to fill you up, the only let down was the batter being a bit undercooked. There was not enough crunch!

Well I did not even get change to eat. Walked here only to find it's closed for no reason 12:15 on a Thursday. Google and even the shop opening times say it's open .. but no. After reading the reviews I may have dodged a bullet..

Worst cod and chips I have had since moving here. Everything was super greasey, batter was thick, gooey and tasteless! Chips just tasted of grease. Mushy peas had no taste. Will not come here again.

Nothing good to say unfortunately. Batter could have been compared to stodgy cake mix, hardly any fish under the batter and undercooked chips. Won't be returning and don't recommend.

I used to rate this chippy but not any more, although I had to wait for the chips to be cooked I think they managed to find a portion of the previous overcooked batch, such a disappointment, the batter was flat and stodgy, was it put on by a plasterer?

Asked for 2x large battered sausages at 20:20, they said they have 4x small battered instead…. Ok, but then got charged for 4x small instead at a higher price??? To then eat them and find they are rock hard and cold on the inside. Tried ringing with no answer! Not happy at all

Great sized portions, tasty chips and curry sauce, but mediocre fish batter. Friendly person on the till, but the fryers haven't spoken one word in all the times I've visited! Good kebab, but could do with more salad, but I'm picking fault over minor things, and overall a good place to get a takeaway. Reasonable prices too.

Good portion sizes. Chips are perfect. In my opinion, the batter on the fish is not quite crispy enough. It is still nice though, I keep going back there! (All I would say is that if you like crispy batter then you might need to put in a special request).

Visited while in Taunton, took the food back to the hotel, started to notice a strong smell of gone off meat, turned out to be the beef and onion pie, stale pastry and the meat was clearly off, the smell was horrendous, clearly re-heated. Batter was soggy and ruined the chips tbh. Very disappointed.

So I love good fish and chips. The size of fish is great and the chips are really good too. The thing that lets this place down is the batter used on the fish it's too thick and not crispy enough. A small change would probably make this chippy one of the best.

Very small portion chips for price like scraggly ends from fryer. Half order was missing. No salt and vinegar on chips. Worst place Ihave been to in taunton.

This was the second time we bought cod and chips from Blue Fish. What a disappointment! Although the portion was generous the batter was soggy and stodgy. A total contrast to when we bought from them a couple of weeks ago when the batter was light and crispy and the fish perfectly cooked. A pity they can't be consistent.

I wasn't completely happy with their safety precautions and the person in charge wasn't as pleasant as in the past. The portions of food were as good as in the past but the actual quality wasn't. Chips and fish batter were soggy rather than crisp even though the fish itself was good.

Generous portion. Their signature dish, fish and chips was bland and soggy. No seasoning at all. But I do like their spicy wings and hot sauce cheese burger. I also had their milkshakes, absolutely hideous, made instantly with milkshake powder and served in room temperature. I prefer a store bought milkshake.

Disgusting fish & chips. It was so bad that I drove 15m back to return it, hoping that such disaster was just a mistake - but it was not. After the worst fish & chips ever came the worst service possible. No alternative or refund given after retuning them that thing. Not much honor or pride around this business. Look for ratings at least above 4.2 in the area!

I had Battered Haddock and Chips to anyone who hasn't tried Battered Haddock it has a better flavour & texture than Cod.

Paid 13£ for 2 lots of fish and chips Sunday 9th absolutely disgusting went straight in waste bin.batter pale yellow very soggy not cooked and fish looked grey and had a taste that it had been hanging around.chips again very pale stuck together and were all shapes.sorry you wont behaving our custom again.

We have always used this fish and chip shop but last night ensures we will never use it again! The fish was not cod, and the batter was soggy and tasteless! The chips were horrid. One of my sons had chicken nuggets, but the box they came in would have probably had more taste! Disgusting! Completely inedible and a complete waste of money! We live a 15/20 minutes car ride away. If I could have been bothered, I would have returned it all! How difficult can it be to provide tasty food?! They used to be able to do so!! Avoid! You may as well put your cash down the drain!!

Only ordered large chips . Think it should have been listed as extra extra large chips. There were so many couldn't eat them all between two of us. They were very good chips though.

Unfortunately the quality of our food wasn't what we expected, the chips a little soggy and the fish was tasteless. Prices were not too bad though and we were served quickly. Could have been a one off, if it's better next time I'll be sure to update this review.
