Dropped in for Sunday lunch which was reasonably priced & possibly not much more than you pay in a chain restaurant. Quality however was far superior, very tasty & tender meats, vegetables done just right, not reduced to a mush. Decent portions. Complemented by its selection of home brewed ales, the 1974 pale ale is a good session drink. A nice find close by the A5.

We came to the restaurant at this place, and were quite disappointed. The service was absolutely appalling. We were seated and then didn't get the opportunity to order for 10-15 minutes. The food wait was a reasonable amount of time and the puddings flew out quickly. But between each meal, none of our plates, glasses, etc. were cleared leaving our table unusable. This was until my grandad complained and they swiftly took our plates away, but never cleared our glasses and forgot some of our bread plates. By the later half of the afternoon, there seemed to be more staff than customers and there was no excuse for the poor service, and it's evident to us why no one really comes here anymore. Food is mediocre, average at best and the location is reserved to the smallish town of Mancetter that's an hour walk from Nuneaton. Prices are fine overall.

We book 2 rooms on a friday night for 1night. a double room and a room with king sized bed and a single bed. The Double room was small with shower, dated but very clean. Had towels tiny t.v small table and 2 chairs ok for one night. It said had a balcony which turned out to be a small door/window which went onto a tiny flat roof. No use at all. The family room had king sized bed with single bed. Advertise with towels and soundproofing. The room it's self was huge, again dated but very clean. There was only one hand towel and a bath math in the bathroom and one plastic beaker in the bathroom. (The double room had lots of towels and 2 plastic beakers in bathroom). Had a table and 2 chairs. My daughter went to sit on a chair in the room and the legs started to go backwards. Which I reported to the cleaner in the morning and was told she had reported it before! We ate at the restaurant and had a lovely meal. Friendly staff. OUR PROBLEMS BEGAIN WHEN WE WENT TO OUR ROOM TO SLEEP. We went to ours rooms around 8pm. Well extremely loud music from the bar below started. In room 6 the floor was vibrating you couldn't here the tv. Room 3 was also extremely loud couldn't hear the tv. The music continued till 11pm. Then we had singing and loud chatter till 12.05am. So we were kept awake all evening. Rooms were Advertised as sound proofing. Complete joke. So much for a relaxing evening! At no point were we told loud music would be blaring all evening. If we had known we wouldn't have stayed there. Very disappointing.

Great if you like generic food . Breaded mushrooms were nice but you can't really mess that up . Peas were hard and cold , chips only part cooked and hunters chicken was dry with burnt bacon . Coleslaw is traditional coleslaw which isn't stated , basically red cabbage and red onion with some sort of dressing on , awful .Empty glasses left on the table despite several waiting staff passing . When we mentioned about the food and it's inedibility they took the price of a drink off , £3 . We will definitely not be returning but great if you're of older years as that's what they seem to cater for best .

Not sure why we haven’t visited here before but we will definitely come again! Had a day off work so decided to come for lunch. It was Steak Monday offering some great deals on Frank Parker steaks but we opted for the lighter lunch menu. Starters of Victory mushrooms were really tasty and then we had homemade steak pie and fish and chips. Both were cooked beautifully and my OH devoured the pie which had lots of tender and tasty beef. Smiley service and really good value.

The Blue Boar has become our favorite restaurant for some time now, although 12 miles away well worth the visit, the tables are always available, such a large pub and can easily cater for as many as you like, we started coming before the COVID problems, we came on a coach trip about 40 at a time, the food is as good if not better than a high priced restaurant, we are pensioners and eat at lunchtime taking advantage of the small plates they offer, but there is certainly enough to satisfy anyone, beautifully cooked and presented, i actually took my grandson who is 6 feet plus and 16 stone and we ate off the main menu, i had their pie and he sausage and mash and it was so plentiful could not manage a pudding, also their other pub in NUNEATON has a micro brewery offering a great range of beer.

First time in the last five years we experienced so terrible food level and service quality. When we arrived, there were few tables sitting. However, our drinks arrived inly after 20 min and only after my follow up. Drinks were ready and just standing as no of 4 waitresses could deliver those drinks to us. Mains arrived after some time too. Beef steak was overcooked (instead of being med-well, it arrived dry as a shoe sole). Coleslaw was soaking in majo. Just terrible. After that “quality” of food and service, I am not looking forward returning to that place. It is a shame after 5 years eating there.

Vegetarian rating : 3 (on variety, but 4 on taste) We had dishes from the bar food menu, and were seated in the bar area as we had our dog with us. 2 of us had a halloumi burger, and a 3rd person had the halloumi skewers. Other members of our party had meaty and fishy options. All agreed the food was really tasty, and the prices are very reasonable. Whereas this looks just like a run-of-the-mill pub, it punches well above its weight. This is probably due to the pub being owned by a local micro brewery (Sperring), and they have the Blue Boar Inn, and another one in nearby Nuneaton (The Lord Nelson Inn). So if you like real ale, and want to support a locally and family-owned pub and restaurant, the Blue Boar Inn is definitely worth a visit.

We popped in for some lunch a week before Christmas. We ordered a children’s meal for our toddler and both me and my girlfriend had soup and pie, from the lunch menu. The food was fine and the lady that dealt with us was great. When we went to pay we realised we had been overcharged. The waitress couldn’t be more apologetic, realising that she had put our pie through as a main and from not the lunch menu like we had asked for. This was no problem as mistakes happen when you first start a new job. she then got another member of staff to sort out the error who then asked if we had eaten all our pie….? I said yes and was subsequently told that there was nothing they could do about it because we had eaten it all. When I asked how eating it all was relevant to being overcharged I was rudely told that I should have realised that it was bigger. Having never had a pie here before how were we meant to know what sizes the pies are meant to be!? Eventually, she went off, returned and put it through at the price it should have been. Unfortunately this experience has left us disappointed and feeling as though we would like to return especially as I sent an email regarding this issue and was ignored.

lunch was the combo set meal, i ordered tea which came in a coffee cup only half full, i asked a waiter if i could have the other half, which he bought a fresh one, we picked the chicken and leek soup with a roll (which you had to ask for) this was excellent, the dinner was great if you like potatoes, plenty of carrots too, spars helping of broccoli and a little helping of tasteless meat , you did get a choice of desserts, as a party of 5 only 2 request cheese cake. the meal was also ruined by children running around the restaurant, they were asked by the staff to stop but a word in the parents ear probably would have help. will we be going again???? hell No

First visit back since covid. Thing's have changed a little. Staff still very friendly and helpful. Still a good range on the menu plus a specials board. Good range of beers. Prices very reasonable, and appear even more so now as we found to our detriment an number of the meals require you to order sides of veg's to get any greens. In this era of healthy eating they really should be standard. It might be explained somewhere on the menu but they are difficult to read in the dull ambient lighting and having very fine writing. The waitress did ask if we wanted any sides after she had take the main order but it would have been good if she had pointed out that the sausage and mash, pork steak bourginon (a special) and a number of other meals had no greens, just the mushroom and onions as part of the main recipe. As the mains were reasonably priced purchasing a side of seasonal veg would not have seemed a rip off. This let these dishes down as the meat was good quality and well cooked. The starters were good, quite large and where appropriate had a nice salad. Sweets were a good size. The pineapple crumble was a bit of a let down, what appeared to be canned pineapple pieces were a bit tasteless. Otherwise a decent family evening out.

This is the 1st visit to the Blue Boar in we visited for Mothers Day unaware that Sunday Roasts are not served after 3.30pm. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a pre booked table, then once I the restarant had to go and ask someone to take our order. We discovered that the salt and pepper pots had bits of food on, so changed for some off another table only to discover they were also dirty !! Now I would recommend when clearing and leaning a table a wipe of the salt and pepper pots would be useful nobody wants to touch filth, when I asked for clean salt and pepper pots it was observed the waitress pulled a face. The service was very slow and the meals were slow coming out, which is fine and I get that if the food is being cooked press however I am not convinced that the food is cooked fresh due to the amount on the menu. Each course was waited for and overall we were there for almost 3 hours due to the wait between each course. The food was average and tasted fine but I would not be returning due to the dirty salt and pepper pots and slow service.

We only came here because they had a gluten free menu. I chose the leek and potato bake, and it was awful. No leeks ( that I could find let alone taste) lots of new potatoes covered in a runny cheese sauce. The clue to how to cook this is in the name, leek and potato ‘bake’. It was just very poor and most definitely not a L & P bake. Tipping a few new potatoes in a dish and pouring over a very runny sauce is just not right or acceptable.

this was my 1st visit to the Blue Boar and as I had heard so much good stuff about it I was looking forward to it. Well the whole experience was so disappointing I really felt as if it was a case of get them in feed them and get them out because its Christmas and we will make plenty of money. We were a group of 12 on the annual xmas night out first of all there was absolutely no atmosphere and the food was not the standard I was expecting. I had the roast turkey which to be honest was tasteless ( although the people who had the steak all said it was delicious) the sweet was not too bad although the prawn cocktail had half a plate of grated carrot. A couple of people had the strawberry and melon cocktail and they all got half a strawberry each what a joke. The mince pies were exceptionally small as well. When we came to settle the bill 6 of us were pensioners but were told there was no concession (as was on the menu) because we had not informed them and we had eaten a normal sized meal not the small size we would have had) what a load of twaddle that excuse is. Arrived in plenty of time to find that the ladies at the bar could not find the booking. I was quite calm and explained that I had called on the Friday evening to change the booking to this coming Sunday. She left and came back with what I assume was the manger. Already he seemed flustered and he said that he had made the booking for the following Sunday. I asked if there was any possibility to be fit in at all and he said no. To add to my irritation he didn't even apologise or try to accommodate. He couldn't even crack a polite smile, I told them that I was very upset that I had definitely said this Sunday, he replied that I hadn't, not say that he remembered at this point normally being a calm person it tipped me over the edge and I made sure he knew it. I told him that it was hardly a way to treat a customer. I'm a PA by trade and have been for 11 years, I've booked restaurant's and hotels often for executives and I've never had anything like this happen, nor have I ever made an error! He was rude, uninterested and seemed that he was more annoyed that he'd been called away from the kitchen. If he'd said ok there's clearly been an error but we'd like to help, or can we offer you a table later, or even bothered to double check if we could've had a table later on it would've made all the difference. Just goes to show paying a bit more, guarantees a better service.

We've always enjoyed our meals here, primarily dinner. Clean environment, friendly staff and swift service. Will return whenever the occasion arises. In love with "Steak Night". Cut of meat is so tender and delicious and always cooked to my preference (medium). Delicious pepper sauce.

We come every now and again when I can't be bothered to cook, we have always enjoyed it, foods always hot and of a good quality.. even though I can never understand why there are so many staff.. Theirs loads of them!! It's only a small restaurant, I work in a restaurant and on a busy Saturday night theirs only 3 waitresses and we manage just fine and we're a bigger restaurant.. I'm not in any way saying it's a bad thing I just think they look a little bored sometimes

We went for a 3 course Sunday lunch, overall good value at 11.95 including Coffee. The Vegetarian offerings, however, were a significant letdown, we had the vegetable crumble, which was just the sunday veg in a runny cheese sauce. Some of the side vegetables were mixed with Ham (Green Beans) and i wasn't impressed.Service was ok (just) but initial greeting and seating was very poor. Not sure I will go back.

Booked an overnight stay with breakfast. Room was very large with cosy bed, tea and coffee etc. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of it. For the price it was a good stay. Has a good restaurant although we did not use it as going to a party in the area. Short walk from Atherstone town centre.

Mancetter. Not exactly the French Riviera or Mary Berry territory. Went there with a friend for dinner. Location OK, dining room reasonably well laid out, clean, tidy. About one-third full. Staff friendly. We had our orders taken fairly quickly.I didn't expect much with the food, for such an ordinary location. I had soup (OK) and then the Cajun Chicken arrived. Nicely presented, and it was excellent. Slightly peppery and not over the top. I think they outdid themselves. Very reasonable price too. For a dinner venue that wasn't really on my radar, I'll not ignore it next time I'm in the area.

Could make so much more out of the layout - just some circular tables to offset the square rigidity - although appreciate the moving partitions allow for larger parties, it does give it a school canteen feel. Food was really good in the main, although one party disappointed with the steak, the cook though rather than meat - supplied by local Parkers who just cant be beaten. In playing I Spy we noticed the dusty cobwebs just on the picture just above my head, so cleanliness could also be better. Overall, good with potential to be so much better with just a little more effort and attention to detail.

Excellent local real ale provided by Sperrin Brewery. Unfortunately, the barmaid was more interested in flirting with the local larger boys to serve me, so I walked out. Won't be going back. Shocking service.

Visited with family for my mums 70th birthday on Tuesday evening. No problem when I wanted to put banners up. Fish night so had special off the specials board. Fish was so white and chips were fresh. Everything hot and delicious. Cannot comment on value as I don't know how much it was.

The Blue Boar is one of my regular places to eat and the food is consistently very good.Always tasty, plenty of it, I love the fact the vegetables are cooked ! The staff are lovely and friendly. I also like the fact the room is spacious, you don't feel on top of other diners, and you don't have music blasting away.

Called here years ago when travelling on the canal. It didn't disappoint this time too. A friendly welcome, spotlessly clean everywhere and excellent food. Good prices and a great choice of food, with specials on offer most evenings. Would highly recommend.
