Under new management and I have to say ,it's as brilliant as the previous which is quite an achievement.great food.great staff.

Very kind and welcoming staff and tasty food. You can find a table along the canal for a pleasant view too.

VERY DISAPPOINTING... New couple has taken over what was, was being the word, an amazing, friendly place, none of that there now, never going back, food was awful, asked for medium rare think it had been cooked before then reheated, hard chewy cooked within an inch of it's life, husband had chicken dinner awful as well, queued for drinks ignored by manageress, told them it was over cooked they couldn't careless, asked to speak to manageress wouldn't come out, that speaks volumes to me. AVOID IF YOU WANT A NICE TIME AND MEAL .

Lovely canalside pub with a pretty garden, unfortunately very noisy from traffic and trains. Excellent service and food.

Brilliant service, great cask beers and fantastic, locally sourced, home cooked food. The staff were very helpful, recommended delicious food from a great range of daily specials and couldn't do more to make sure we enjoyed our evening!

I went for a meal with my partner and the food was alright ( after it was replaced) There was a hair in my roast !!! Yak !! Also the manger walked by and put me off my food he could really do with a wash The service I received was good that’s why I gave them a 2 stars but everything else is a no go

We had a great Sunday Roast, very reasonably priced and excellent staff on hand. We did not book, it was a bit last minute but ofcourse always advisable

Highly recommend. We popped in for dinner after collecting our daughter from nursery. We didn’t book but were accommodated straight away next to the warm radiator. The service was excellent and the food came so quick, all hot and fresh. The atmosphere was lovely and I will be returning. Keep up the great work. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Went Monday evening, had green Thai salmon which was beautiful, as were the wings. Waitress was very nice and food was hot, plentiful and delivered quite quickly. Will call again if passing through.

Lovely food... one thing I have to say, Sunday lunch, one small slice of beef!!! Not great to be fair if I had the beef, chicken and pork trio would of had one of each but went with just beef and one slice!! Everything else was good.

We popped in here for a drink and the menu looked good. It was Steak Wednesday so we took advantage of the offer and we were not disappointed! Food was delicious, locally sourced where possible and all made in house. Sarah and Ivo are doing a fantastic job building their business and we wish them all the best. Highly recommended.

Lovely location and beer garden, nice beer, dogs welcome which is good. Food terrible, 3 been chilli tasteless and like from a can. Ordered for 2 people and meals came out about 5 minutes apart instead of together and second meal came out nearly cold.

Popped in for a late lunch, food was lovely, served in good time and the staff were very welcoming. We ate outside as we have a small dog and a water bowl was next to the table for him.

We found this pub when searching for dog friendly places to eat whilst away. The food is supreme , service excellent ,quick and the staff very friendly but not overbearing I think it was Nicki who looked after us and she was delightful. Worth a visit and clearly the landlords are looking at future improvements too, so it will hopefully get even better.

First visit to this pub, interior is beautiful, nice atmosphere, friendly staff . Food was delicious, prompt service at the table, would visit again with no hesitation..

Moored at the Athlestone moorings and short walk back to the pub. Great food, with a really good choice of food and helpful, attentive staff. 4 of us each had something different and everything was delicious. We got there a bit early and the dining area filled up after we arrived. Have recommended it to several other narrowboaters.

We walked from Hartshill down the canal, which is a beautiful walk through the locks and lovely scenery, where we ended up at The Kings Head. This was our 1st time visiting and were all very pleasantly suprised by how lovely the pub was. Very clean and inviting, staff were brilliant and food was fabulous. Nothing was too much hassle and we felt very comfortable, especially as we had children who were slightly noisy at times. Thank you all much for a lovely time and a great meal. We will definitely be coming back :)

Quiet lunchtime but a warm welcome from the staff. Interior nicely decorated and comfortable seating. Food was great and very reasonable, drinks appropriately chilled and delivered promptly. Definitely worth a visit.

Worth a visit. 100% recommend. Staff are friendly and helpful. Dog was made to feel as welcome as we were. Plenty of options on the menus. Really nice garden on the canal. Parking on site and family friendly. We will be back.

A hidden Gem found a pub I didn't know existed what a find great food had the 10oz sirloin and my partner had the 8oz rump all served with real chips the chunky ones superb very pleasant staff very tidy pub and with a dart board though these were extinct due to the ( Helf and safety crew ) this pub is well worth a visit and deserves your custom 🍽️🍷🍺👍

Traditional pub menu, food was lovely and nicely presented. Good service and nothing was to much trouble if asked for anything.

Very clean and tidy (recently refurbished ?) canal-side pub with what looked like good outdoor seating. Lacked atmosphere on a Thurs lunchtime in early January but in summer I'm sure it will be heaving (?). Music started at a pleasant level then turned up for some reason. Good beer and Excellent cider, according to my wife. We didn't eat but the food looked and smelt excellent.

Food was great under new management, pub decor a bit bare , but im sure new owner will put their own stsmp on the place

Food pretty good but short staffed and it took best part of 1.45hr for food to come out the kitchen and they hadn't got various items like steak and some sweets real shame as it was our daughters 1st birthday.

We went to the quiz last night and will be going again! We ate before hand with two of us having the sirloin, one burger and one scampi. All meals were perfect and delicious (and hot!), would highly recommend.

31 Oct 2023 currently closed for a week or so as new management have literally just got the keys. They say they are open again soon.

We only stopped by on the bike and had a coffee, but the staff were friendly and helpful. It's a really cute eclectic and out of the way pub.

This pub is now closed. Turned up 24/10/23 to be told we are closed for forever as the door wasn't locked so we went inside.

Good food cooked well & a lovely location with outdoor seating next to a canal. The staff are friendly & efficient, but not so the kitchen. Didn't get what was ordered, just gave me the same meal as my husband who is a coeliac. Limited menu which differed in content and price to the website unfavourably.

This establishment is a real find, the food is absolutely fantastic! It's just like food used to be in the good old days, the steaks are thick and juicy, supported by fresh vegetables. A friendly welcome awaits you the moment you walk through the door, the meals are very reasonably priced with a very good selection to choose from. We will be back!

It's a really atmospheric pub, small inside but really nicely decorated; nice and cosy. The food was good, not mind blowing but what you'd expect from some hearty pub grub. We didn't sit outside, but there's a lovely canalside beer garden which I'm planning to spend some time in next Summer. The team were really friendly and accommodating, and I'll definitely be back again.

We ate in one of the cabins outside, which was cosy with its own heater. Friendly service. Nothing very exciting on the menu, but what we had was fine - I chose the special, sweet chilli salmon with new potatoes and salad and hubby had scampi and chips. Right on the Coventry canal, so we enjoyed a wander after our meal.

Enjoyed a nice meal out with the family. Ordered double beefburger, hunters chicken and the special of the day (beef bourguignon) All meals were good quality and waitresses were helpful and friendly. On a previous visit we had the nachos as a main meal and shared as a starter, these were yummy. Nice outside eating area with plenty of tables which have shelter. Would have been nice to see Lasagne and Fish Chips as a choice on the everyday menu.

Visited today with family for lunch for my birthday celebration, first time we have been here. Great little pub, polite and friendly staff and the food was excellent. High quality pub food, served very hot and good portion size. Also noticed the outside cabins to book which are a great idea.Good canalside location.Will certainly return.

After 3 covid cancellations we decided to go ahead no matter what with date 4 and booked the marquee at the King's Head We sorted a menu with Marie and boy did she pull out all the stops Pate or crayfish cocktail starter Beef bourgignon mainTreacle sponge or cheesecake pud Everything was gorgeous and guests could not get over how much food there was Everything was simply perfect and we would heartily recommend using this place for any party Excellent location for photos Excellent food and service Bar prices too so absolute bonus for our guests

hi we popped into the kings head on a tuesday afternoon at about 3.30pm! we ordered a diet coke and a pint of bass which may i say was very well kept and at about the perfect temp! our waitress was on the ball and did"nt hesitate to bring over a menu! after about 5 mins she came back and asked if were ready to order! we ordered the steak and ale pie with chips and the double beef burger with chips and a side order of garlic bread! the meals came out in good time and both were piping hot with my wife saying that the beef in her pie was of very good quality and tender! my double burger was of a very high standard and the chips were spot on! the only one gripe i had was the garic bread came out with only 3 small slices and as you know 3 into 2 don"t go! perhaps its just me being over picky but at £2.50 per portion i think they could have stretched to 4 slices of garlic bread! for pudding i had apple pie and custard which again was very good! so overall it was a great meal with good service and great food!! we will be back that is for certain!! thanks kings head for a great anniversary lunch!!

Since re-opening we find ourselves here more often than not on a Saturday afternoon for beer & prawns :) Location by the canal is beautiful, and always has a good vibe. Staff are friendly - and C19 guidelines are strictly followed - highly recommend it for a quite bit and drink on your own, a meal out with partner or for a full on family celebration :) Go try it :)

What can I say? This place could not be better. I'm sure others agree as it was very busy, even midweek. It's a lovely spot with a canal-side beer garden and food served. Within stumbling distance of Atherstone railway station, and the town centre is just a little further on if you are going to go on to other places. Visitor mooring for narrowboaters. Dog and family friendly: my little one certainly loved gongoozling, hearing the trains pass, and seeing the lorries on the road bridge. (Ahem, that might have been me as well)

Spoke to the owner himself, bubbly chap! Not much variety to I shared some suggestions. Chicken that was cooked was too dry for us all. Lovely atmosphere and beautiful outside seating. Pub is also dog friendly and the staff are great and happy to help.

We visited over the Bank Holiday weekend, service users and their staff for a meal. We were accomodated very well, sat in a quiet area and nothing was too much trouble. Shayne and the staff went above and beyond to welcome us and ensure our visit was smooth and enjoyably. Our service users really felt at ease. The food was outstanding and highly recommended. The team at the kings head work extremely hard to keep everyone covid safe. We will definitely be returning.

Visited for Sunday lunch, first time out for months with the grandchildren, food , service & atmosphere was lovely, obviously the prices have gone up but still good quality, my only gripe would be the Crazy price of a kiddies Fruit Shoot drink, £1:60p , you could buy a multi pack in any supermarket for less than the price of one here, a little extortionate to say the least, hope your not becoming anti family friendly

Absolutely amazing, I called up to order two afternoon teas, for a surprise birthday treat for my husband, and it was totally amazing, it was for delivery and it arrived the time that was arranged, along with birthday card for him too, totally amazing quality and fabulous service, only one thing , we were gutted we couldn’t celebrate with you with a glass of bubbles! Booked one of their pods outdoors with some friends. Staff were brilliant- attentive and helpful. Landlord brought an outdoor heater over to keep us warm too. Beer and food quality was good and decently priced. Best evening out with my friends this year, but, then again, it was the only one!

Nothing was too much trouble and all his staff were exactly the same. How great to have such fantastic customer service. We started our holiday in Atherstone and finished it there as it was our halfway stop off point. What was also lovely that Shane remembered us on our return visit and we had our own little lodge in the garden. We both felt very safe re COVID. Well organised , but still with a relaxed feel. Me and my niece called there Tuesday 8th September after hearing all the good reports. And I can tell you they didn’t disappoint, they have left no stone unturned you make you feel safe and well served . Their food and service was second to none as we ate right by the side of the canal. We both had the home made curry and it was without question the best curry I’d had in many years , so good in fact I had to buy and take two portions home with me to freeze. This place is a hidden gem right by the canal with plenty of different outside areas to drink and eat . From log cabins to a marquee to extra large parasols. Five star in every way

Waiting staff not wearing masks. No outdoor non smoking area. Food not very good. Served the largest portion of very mature peas (maybe to fill the plate) bought in frozen chips,. Pie,well the filling was ok the pastry just fell into shreds, difficult to eat. Very disappointed. Won't be visiting again ever.
