Fantastic food, wonderful service and lovely people. I would definitely take the poorer reviews with a jug of salt.

We both had a lovely vegetarian evening meal here. Traditional menu and calm and polite service. Good dogs welcome, that was a plus. I feel reading a lot of the other reviews people have been very unfairly judgmental. This venue a small and independently run establishment and therefore that has to be taken into consideration. Unlike ‘Table-Table/beefeater’ style restaurants where they have 10s of staff members, the venues are big and spacious and everything is cheap and microwaved - independent restaurants, cafes & shops cannot be compared too. The service was friendly and accommodating considering we hadn’t booked, we had a dog and it was Friday night. YOU, are welcome to read the menu from outside and make your choice, or you could eat at home and make it yourself! We had two very clean plates and left happy to be fed and watered and having not had to do the dishes! I feel people who have perhaps not owned or run a business themselves, are VERY quick to judge. Thank you for your meal.

Avoid, as we're are staying in looe we pooped along to mevagissy as they had a fete going on and we love the place visit every year spend a few hours wondering around hubby likes to do some fishing. When we fancied some lunch and came across this lovely looking little place. However when you walk in there is no warm welcome or even a hello, we sat down and waited eventually I went to the counter to order my husband had a sandwich which when arrived i could of got better from a petrol station very basic, I had a cream tea which was OK. Again waitress never spoke a word. We could then hear the waitress and I guess some one else who worked there just behind counter saying smile and stop looking miserable remember to smile and to stop talking so loudly. That conversation should of been out of ear shot for customers. After a little while we decided to leave the atmosphere was certainly BLUE. When I went up to pay the person behind counter was bad mouthing the table next to us cause apparently they ordered wrong and it wasn't her fault as she had asked them a question 3 times. It certainly is not a friendly place to go it needs new staff or just management needs some training ect. I never leave a bad review I only ever leave good ones but this place needs avoiding. A warm welcome would make all the difference and apparently its not because they wrrr having a bad day as when we came out another holiday maker stopped us and asked what we thought of it in there we replied ok to which this total stranger told us about hes experience and that he would never spend another penny in there the first time was enough and I had to agree. It also states dog welcome but they don't even get a welcome and made to feel the dogs in the way. I certainly can't see this being here next year when we visit. If you guys are I will be surprised maybe give staff some training.... also smile and greet your paying customers.

Slow service. Waited an hour for food. Drinks only bit that was ok. 4 of us. Tuna mayo on brown bread was cheap bread that was dry. Tasteless. Prawn sandwich on white again dry bread and too much sauce. Ham, egg and chips that was only hot meal was cheap packet ham. Paid over the odds for food. Get better food and faster service in a greasy spoon cafe. Will not be recommending to anyone and won’t go back. My husband did complain politely and l think the lady was shocked. Oh and not impressed that the waitress stood with her shoes on on a chair from restaurant to reach up and turn fan on! Really!

The Blue Bistro fit us in as a party of 6 + dog into their 4 table restaurant at the last minute. Their drinks selection is limited but the wine was really nice! They accommodated to dietary requirements (vegan, GF, DF). Our mains were 6\10, generally underseasoned but generous portions. Mussels were overcooked with watery sauce. Despite this, we enjoyed our evening with the place to ourselves and prices were not extortionate. Would recommend some better background music to create an ambience.

Spotted this place when we were collecting some fish from the excellent fishmonger on the quayside and decided to give it a go. Friendly service, interesting menu and good prices. We both had scallops to start which were very tasty and cheaper than many places locally. Mains were a grilled fish platter - pollock, plaice, sardine, salmon and prawns- nicely cooked with a side salad and they kindly supplied new potatoes as opposed to chips. My partner opted for the grilled tuna steak with prawns and chips - very tasty but she felt a little overcooked. Dog friendly as well. Very much worth considering

We went in as the menu was inviting, it says they serve local seafood. What a disappointment! The place stinks of smoke and there is no customer service. The seafood platter we ordered took forever to arrive and it was the most disgusting fish I have ever tasted. As we complained about the speed of their service, chief woman came out and gave some random comments about we ruined her day when chatting to their friends without the face mask on. Restaurant like this deserve to be shut. Now I am crossing my fingers not to have a diarrhea later on. What a shythole, I wish I can give them zero scores.

Well, as soon as we walked out both me and my partner looked at each other and said “what a weird place”. It has lots of potential but ultimately it feels like two people awkwardly having a go, reading the trip advisor reviews (worth a look, but they don’t take criticism well!) they both have plenty experience but it hasn’t translated here. Also if your waist is more than a 38 you probably won’t get past the sink to the toilet, which is accessed sideways to get to the steep stairs. Originally I was going to give a generous 2/5 review but down another on account of leaving everyone’s personal details from track and trace laying about fit all and sundry to see / serious GDPR issue. Try teacup tearoom instead, or anywhere!

Very strange "spacey" type atmosphere but not unpleasant. Felt like I was entering a Victoria Wood comedy sketch. When I went in to see if they had a table the place was empty and the lady looked at me as if to say what are you doing. When I asked if she had a table for 2, baring in mind it was empty, she stood there puzzled as if to say where am I going to sit them!!!!! The food was OK lots of pinging coming from the kitchen the sound of the microwave. Needed a little more atmosphere maybe a little quiet background music of some sort so that you didn't feel like you had to talk in a real hushed whisper as if you were sharing secrets.

Visiting Mevagissey most years for nearly 25 years we have often walked past Blue and never actually eaten. Last weekend we decided we would. We were a large party, of 6, for the intimate space but were made welcomed. The food was delicious, service a little slow but with one chef and all food freshly cooked, I would rather that. My rabbit pie was first class, all our party throughly enjoyed our food, even my fussy 15 year old, who although not vegan, opted for the butternut squash and mushrooms vegan option and came out a mushroom convert. Thank you ladies for a lovely meal. If I was to say one thing, perhaps think about some low background music. It was a quiet night and this would have added a bit more atmosphere. We will be back again.

Odd little place that you shouldn't dismiss. It looks more like a cafe however the food was good, just not quite worthy of 5 stars. Slightly overcooked fish and reticent service (felt like the waitress was embarrassed that we were in her home) not helped by a lack of background music means only 4 stars. Definitely worth a visit though over places like the sharkskin which offer the inevitable list of burgers, this was real local food and dishes with a good varied menu.

Four of us visited this place and to be honest, we wish we hadn't. Our visit started with the waitress moaning about cleaning tables. We then ordered a sandwich each, which took nearly 20 minutes to serve. (Two of the sandwiches were toasted, but there wasn't anyone waiting for their order). When the food was served we were appalled. The toasted sandwiches looked like they had been screwed up and thrown in a toaster. The other sandwiches just looked looked like the filling had been thrown in. All the sandwiches were garnished with an eighth of a tomato and a small piece of parsley. The atmosphere in the Bistro seemed strained although there was only a total of eight people in there. I wouldnt normally complain, but this was poor.
