Blue Bird Tearooms in Great Malvern offers friendly service, a delicious well-cooked breakfast and yummy cake, making it great value for money. It is a little like walking into a museum, going back in time. Plus, the view from the loo is surprisingly amazing! NB not wheelchair accessible and I would be nervous of taking in a toddler, they have a lot of delicate china on display.

Popped into the tearoom around 11 am but wanted to have an early lunch. Absolutely no problem for the tea room who quickly bought us omelette and a ploughman’s. The omelette was great - a bit of everything at the servers suggestion. My ploughman’s was really nice, warm crusty bread and really good mixture of pickles, coleslaw, cheese, salad and chutney. In fact best ploughman’s I’ve had in a long time. Reasonable price too. Definitely recommend.

What a quirky tearoom! I absolutely loved it. Staff were very welcoming and it was so quirky ringing the bell and waiting to be seated. Very traditional inside which I like. Felt like we had gone back in time away from the modern world. The dedicated vegan menu was amazing. A great selection of cakes, drinks, lunch and breakfast selections. It's very reasonably priced too. The vegan shortbread was delicious and a generous amount. My husband had the vegan chocolate tiffin and a very unusual tea and he loved it. We loved our visit here. When we move nearer to Malvern this will certainly become a regular place for our tea and cake stop! 😋

I had my breakfast here yesterday at 10-20 am, it was nice and quiet, Tea was brought straight to my table after ordering, then breakfast which was really nice followed after 10 mins, I'm going back again tomorrow which says it all. It's very old, very small, it has lots of stairs, some people will moan about those things, but i think it has a lovely tearoom atmosphere that is hard to find these days, a nice alternative to all these trendy cafes, if you want a mug of warm beverage with marshmallows on top, go to cafe nero and leave the rest of us to enjoy this little gem.

Staff are very friendly and prices reasonable.Highly recommmended.

We visited The Blue Bird Tearooms on 21.02.2023 whilst passing through Great Malvern on our way home after a weekend break. This is a quirky place above the shops in the centre of the town that you enter through one door, up a flight of stairs where you are let in to the upstairs area, which is like walking in to your Grannies living room and then, when you leave you pay 'under the stairs' and leave by another exit into a passage way at the side of the premises, it's like a 'one way' system !! We just had a couple of toasted paninis and soft drinks which were all fine and reasonably priced but it just felt like a really odd kind of place and a little dated in the decor

Chose this tearoom as it looked quaint from the outside and so glad we did. No less than 5 different gluten free cakes plus scones. My husband is vegetarian and chose a savoury scone with red peppers and pesto which he said was delicious. I had coffee and walnut gf cake, the first time I’ve tasted this for over 10 years and it was very nice. They also offer lunches and full afternoon teas both of which looked amazing. It was about 4:15 when we entered and I would say it was about half full. Yes the service was a bit slow, but it was done very politely and with charm. We ordered a pot of tea and a scone to share. The tea pot was large enough for us to each have 3 cups, plenty of milk and the scone was lovely. I am always ok with waiting when a cafe or restaurant is busy, just be honest about the wait. The surely waitress would tell everyone 5 minutes. We were told the same. Waited 25 min to be seated. Asked to order, was told by the same waitress they had to clean tables and then proceeded to take orders at THREE other tables before us (that were seated after us). Much is made of the 100 year old connection with Sir Edward Elgar in these tea rooms. Alas that's all there is to recommend the establishment. The decor is unappealing with faded, scuffed paintwork evident throughout and rather cramped seating at first floor level. It's like eating in your aged aunt's front room. Our service failed the most basic tests of a quick welcome and attention to detail via back-checks. We noted that this happened to other customers too.

We visit Malvern frequently and usually pop into the Blue Bird Tearooms for a snack. Not any more after today's experience. It wasn't particularly busy and we ordered 2 coffees, a panini and a scone. We waited. And waited. And waited. A couple who came after us were served food and drinks whilst we still hadn't even had our coffees after half an hour. During this long wait we looked around the tearoom and noticed just how grubby it was. In particular, the backs of some chairs were literally thick with dust. The tearoom has a shabby but genteel feel but dirtiness is NOT acceptable. We were finally served after 35 minutes with a rather underwhelming panini and a scone. When we paid the waitress asked if everything had been alright and I stated that the service was terrible. We received absolutely no apology and were just told in a surly fashion that 'people are served in order'. I explained that a couple who came in sometime after us were served long before us but was pretty much called a liar. I also stated that a woman and child who the waitress obviously knew had received cooked food and drinks after less than 15 minutes and yet we had waited 35 minutes. Again there was no apology. Since there are plenty of cafes and pubs in Malvern we shall go elsewhere in future.

The Blue Bird Tea Rooms are a delight. Sir Edward Elgar enjoyed this lovely café, and we did too. Up a short flight of stairs, the seating area is in two adjoining rooms at the end of a little corridor, and can't have changed much since Sir Edward's day. The owners are to be congratulated on the genuine unspoilt period charm. We were lucky enough to get a window table, and noted that most of the furniture is original to the cafe's opening in 1913. Also, there's a beautiful painting of a lady with a bluebird, the original for the poster from when the café first opened, still used on menus and in advertisements, and a lovely glimpse of pre-First World War atmosphere.

I had family visiting and as we'd enjoyed lunch here last time they visited we decided to have lunch there again. The man who took our order wasn't very friendly but efficient and the food and drinks arrived quite quickly. The food was perfectly nice and plenty of milk for the drinks which is a bonus! The tables are very small - there were four of us and it was difficult to fit food and drinks on. Two things I wasn't happy with though. My granddaughter jolted the table slightly so our drinks slopped into the saucers. This was before the food arrived so we asked for some paper serviettes to wipe it up and were given two for a table of four. Then when we had finished we would have liked cakes but no one came so we gave up, paid and bought cakes from a shop. The place was not busy at the time.

It is almost like entering someone's little flat. On entering we found it to be very busy & as it is a small room, was very hot. We chose the signature cream tea, which consisted of half a round of sandwiches, homemade scone, jam & cream plus tea - all with plenty of different fillings & flavours. When it arrived it was all beautifully served on lovely vintage chins. The scones were delicious & the whole thing waas great value at £5 per serving

This place is great. Loads to choose from, including soups, all-day vegan breakfast and paninis. There is animal-free milk and cake too! The tea room is "quaint" and the sort of place one would not usually expect to selling such a range of animal-free food. Knowledgeable, attentive and helpful staff too. Baby changing is only in the women's.

This is a wonderful café with all the options in food from vegan to meat and everything in-between. The food is outstanding and the service and helpful staff make it all worth while, added to the fact it is also dog friendly. The atmosphere is good and it is quaint and well decorated in the old style. First Class.

Ideally located near tourist office after a walk on Malvern Hills. The scones are to die for. Ambience and service both excellent. Highly recommend.

Had a tasty poached egg on toast and then finished off with a scrumptious warm scone cream tea. Simply perfect and delicious. No complaints.

When we meet up with our friends who live in the East Midlands, and we go visiting an area of choice for a few days; something we do maybe two or three times a year, we love to visit tea rooms. After a testing walk, this time up to Worcestershire Beacon on the Malvern Hills, we called into the Blue Bird tea Rooms for a well earned cuppa. You might easily miss it, as it's accessed by a narrow staircase, and it doesn't have a large frontage, but it's just a little higher than the town's Tourist Information centre, and as such can readily be located.

Situated at the top of Malvern town on the first floor of a building. Very nice relaxed atmosphere to be found in two well set out tea rooms offering a big choice of snacks and cakes. We chose lovely hot chocolate and home made scones, just right for warming up on a cold winter's day. Will definitely be back again when in the area.

Myself and a friend visited The Bridge for the Sunday Carvery. It was excellent and superb value for money! We had the carvery and a pudding which was also excellent.

Staff are extremely friendly and always up for a great laugh. Portion sizes are very large, great value for money. Wide range of drinks to suit either a quiet night out or even a messy one. Amazing atmosphere all around be it in the restaurant or the bar. I discovered this little gem on accident, it was a very happy accident and I will be returning without a doubt. Thanks Garry and team

When we got there, we saw a sign that said 'overflow car park'. Absolutely accurate, the river had overflowed into the car park, which was now a pond. Service was a little slow to start with but then improved. Food was excellent, so was the company and the atmosphere. Defo going back some time.

Four of us had a light lunch here yesterday. We had hoped to sit outside by the lake but it was cold so we were in the bistro which is lovely. We all ordered sandwiches which were delicious and presented beautifully with a small selection of dressed salad leaves . We all had banana sponge pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream - a bit like sticky toffee pudding but even better. The staff were immaculately turned out, and genuinely welcoming and helpful. This is such a lovely place and we will definitely be back before long.
