Took my mum for the Mother's day afternoon tea, which included a (very delicious) elderflower fizz cocktail. Afternoon tea was delicious and well presented. Scones in particular were gorgeous! Lovely surroundings. Staff very friendly although it took a while for our tea to arrive - I had to really catch someone's eye. I felt the afternoon tea was quite expensive (just under £26 per person) but didn't mind this when including the 'complimentary' cocktail. Otherwise, it would have felt overpriced.

My Wife & I went for an afternoon anniversary lunch. Excellent waitress service. Polite, friendly and knowledgable of both menu and wine selection. Easy, relaxed atmosphere with scenic views of the Worcestershire countryside. Good selection of starters, variety of mains and good selection of puddings. The Beef was outstanding. Really. Melt in the mouth. WOW factor ! Pudding was a Berry Crumble with custard. Again, 10/10. What a hidden gem this place is ! This is a Retirement Complex with a Restaurant open to the public. Would I visit again ? 100% yes. Price of two mains, two puddings, two large wines, plus a full bottle of wine, including a 10% non-obligatoey tip, circa £95.00. Well worth the visit. Excellent facilities, clean, tidy, spacious between tables and absolutely wonderful food. We will return & soon. Once people get to know what this place offers in Restaurant (food) terms, service & the quality of service and food presentation, it will take off to the moon........Beautiful place !

Our first visit to this restaurant and won't be our last. Smart, comfortable surroundings; friendly, professional welcome. The menu has plenty of choice, we had a starter, main and one dessert. Everything was beautifully cooked and delicious, the waitress was competent and friendly. My husband said the crumble was the best he had ever eaten! I was too full for dessert, the helpings were so generous. This is a real gem in Malvern and luckily for us only a 20 minute walk away. We look forward to our next visit.

We enjoyed a dinner here last weekend but what we hadn't realised is that this is an in house restaurant for a retirement home! The staff were very welcoming, the furnishings and settings very stylish and we enjoyed our meal. We were just conscious of being non-resident, especially as the neighbouring conversations seemed to be about medical ailments and powers of attorney, that's why the atmosphere wasn't what we hoped. I'd still recommend coming here for a nice meal, but just be mindful of this.

We went for afternoon tea on Saturday and were totally delighted with the food, which was beautifully presented on a contemporary version of the three tiered serving platter. The sausage roll was probably the best we have ever tasted, the bruschetta was a delight. The sandwiches were totally fresh on very good quality bread. Moving on, the cakes were all very tasty and not too sweet and the scones which rounded off the tea were also delicious. Service was unassuming but excellent, especially from Jai, who was bright and cheerful. All in all a terrific experience, and the quality outshone even Betty's of Harrogate, which is usually the gold standard for traditional afternoon tea. Well done, especially the chef!

The food at Aldwyns is fantastic. Everything is great quality, tasty and exceptional value for what it is. We like Aldwyns so much that we held our wedding breakfast meal here! And we weren't disappointed - they did a tremendous job, could not ask for a better day. The food was incredible, all guests thought so too, and they catered exactly to our requests. The menu the chef created was creative, delicious and beautiful. The staff were absolutely amazing. Very caring, thoughtful, nice and always go above and beyond to please everyone. The restaurant is located within a retirement village, hence why it doesn't get many visitors, but I would definitely recommend it. Walk-ins are welcome and there is visitor parking too. Can not thank Rebecca and her team enough for an incredible day. We can't wait to go back next time we're in Malvern!

Food is delicious, service is attentive and they allow you time. We have been a number of times and feel so lucky to have a high quality restaurant like this at a reasonable price. This is a truly outstanding restuarant where old fashioned values are still upheld. We love going as it a beautiful restaurant we really appreciate good food, good service and wish to take your time and take in the surroundings. I saw a review commenting the service is a bit slow, well if you want American style dinning where they just want high trough put of customers and revenue and where you are brought the dessert menu straightaway after finnishing your main course then please visit a chain restaurant. The correct etiquette is to allow at least 15 -20 minutes between finishing your main course before being offered the dessert menu. So many British restuarants have forgotten this etiquette and are moving to American style commercialism responsible for over consumption and pollution of the planet and demise of the critical natural world. But still we continue adopt like sheep the mass marketeers brain washing advertising and social media celebrity influencers paid recommendations.

Long wait with no further attention, although very few customers( most having "afternoon tea" - at 1.30pm !? ). Main course finally arrived at 1.30 - dry turkey slices, not hot, roast potatoes which had been standing & gone soft. Overcooked, dry yorkshire pudding & oily roasted carrot & beetroot- all dunked in dark brown gravy of unknown origin. Only diabetic need to eat made us tackle it. Staff excuse was " head chef off & very busy with cream teas ! " Still very few customers to be seen. Needs serious attention. Advise avoid.

This restaurant is based within a retirement village, so fair to say the average age in the restaurant is almost certainly above 70. This itself is not a problem as both the retirement properties/village and the restaurant are very well kept. However, I cannot help thinking that the restaurant is catering purely with the elderly residents of the retirement village in mind as the portion sizes and the quality and choices appear to reflect this. limited menu. For example, on this visit, only 2 starters to choose from, 2 choices of meat for main and 3 deserts to choose from. One of the starters was Tomato soup, a basic starter. Main choice of Pork loin or turkey crown. On the menu it states all mains come with "crispy duck fat roasted potatoes, honey roasted beetroot, glazed carrots, buttered broccoli, and a yorkshire pudding with a red wine jus (GF on request)" As you can see from the photo of my pork loin, there was no yorkshire pudding, no buttered broccoli although there was cauliflower to replace that I assume. As it's pork it would be reasonable to expect stuffing or even pork crackling but no. The photo was exactly how I was served the meal with the veg already on the plate, previously I've been served the veg in a separate dish and there was a lot more on that occasion. On the latest visit, some people were served with the veg in a separate dish and some were served with the veg already on the plate, this place is very inconsistent with it's standards. Same with condiments, sometimes they serve them on the table, sometimes they don't bother at all. It happens every single visit to date, to the point it gets tiring pointing things out. Only 3 deserts to choose from, one of which was fudge cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I don't expect a piece of cake to be on the desert menu, it's obviously bought in from caterers as well, I can get a homemade piece of cake for £3:50 from a very nice coffee shop. There are restaurants not too far away that are head and shoulders above this place offering a nicer meal for similar price. The meal I had was something I'd expect to eat at a garden centre. This place needs to decide, does it want to continue to cater for the residents as it appears to be doing so or is it looking to get more outside business, if it does it needs to improve because there are places doing it better at the moment.

We visited Aldwyn’s during a one night stay in Malvern. The venue is a 10 minute walk from the town centre and really is a hidden gem! We received a friendly welcome by the staff on reception and on our arrival into the main restaurant. I have read on a couple of other reviews that younger diners felt they weren’t made welcome but myself and my husband are in our early thirties and didn’t experience this at all. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and is light and modern - perfect for my husband who is visually impaired and requires good lighting. We visited on a Wednesday lunchtime and it was very quiet - one other table of diners in the restaurant and another table in the bar. This didn’t matter to us though and we really enjoyed our meal. We both had pork which was exceptionally tasty, followed by a passion fruit and white chocolate tart and my husband had crumble. These were also delicious! They also offer an extensive cocktail list - I had a pina colada! We will definitely be coming back and will bring family with us next time. Thank you!

We came here for an afternoon tea to celebrate an anniversary. Whilst the food was fantastic, the service was really poor. Outside of giving us the afternoon tea, nobody came to us for the 2 hour stay. Despite our attempts to get some attention this didn't happen, others around us got attention, just not us as we probably didn't fit the typical demographic. We had to go to the counter for more drinks and to pay our bill. Really disappointing as the food was fantastic and if the service was better we would definitely be coming back, but I couldn't recommend this place after our experience today.

First up I have to say the afternoon tea itself was the best I’ve had - fabulously fresh, tasty and a great selection! But unfortunately this was undermined by the service… We are a young couple in our 20s who booked this after lots of research to find a good afternoon tea. On arrival we noted it was in a retirement compound - no problem at all - although I wonder if us not fitting the usual demographic caused us problems. Our reception on arrival felt a bit frosty and impersonal - no friendly chit chat or smiles. We were not offered any drink menus so felt rushed into ordering English breakfast tea - I wonder if there were other teas available? The afternoon tea itself arrived in good time but again with little communication/ friendliness… after this we were unable to grab anyones attention for the rest of our stay, whilst the tables around us had frequent checks to see that all was okay. We had to walk over to the bar in the room next door to request more tea, where my partner says he got a disapproving look for this. We hung around after finishing our tea but nobody came so in the end left our plates and went to pay at the counter - again with no smiles or conversation. I wonder if the venue doesn’t like younger people (people outside of the demographic/ target audience for the retirement complex) visiting - if so it may worth making this clearer on your website! Thanks again for the lovely food.

Prompt acknowledgement and promise of feedback. Heard nothing. Sent repeat email, no response. Chased by phone. Promised call back. No response. We wanted to deal with this complaint privately but have become totally frustrated with the lack of response so are forced to place this in the public domain. I booked lunch here for my wife's birthday. It was 1:15pm on a Monday and we found ourselves the only diners – no matter. We were shown to our table and given menus. The restaurant was deserted. A table for two hadn't been cleared and had the remains of a meal, its chair pushed out in the aisle. A vacuum cleaner stood centre stage abandoned mid-clean. We felt like we'd boarded the Marie Celeste. We ordered some lunch and waited. And we waited. After about 20 minutes the young lady came and said there was a delay due to a problem with 'communication technology'. We had a wander round, looking at the art on the walls. We went outside to the terrace where there were several tables, chairs and umbrellas but the terrace looked like it hadn't been swept in days with pine needles, paper biscuit wrappers and litter under the tables. We went back in and the young lady returned to say there was a further delay due to problems with 'communication technology'. She returned a third time with the same reason for the delay by which time we'd figured that problems with communication technology probably meant that the chef was still in bed and wasn't answering his phone. As our wait approached the hour we got up and left. We were offered complimentary desserts (no, thank you) and weren't charged for the bottle of water. All in all, very disappointing. By now it was too late to go anywhere else for a birthday lunch so our day was well and truly spoiled. Would we recommend it? Of course not.

I visited Aldwyn's this afternoon with my husband and my parents for afternoon tea. We were a bit uncertain due to some recent mixed reviews but we really enjoyed ourselves!Firstly, the restaurant and bar area (and the loos!) were beautifully decorated - it was all very clean and the chairs were comfy. We were notified that there would be a bit of a wait for our food to be delivered but time soon flew by as we chatted and looked out at the scenery. Our server was very attentive and checked up on us regularly. He also talked us through the different food items when they were delivered to our table. The food was excellently presented and it was all lovely - we particularly enjoyed the cheesecake and the salmon sandwiches. As it was February, we had the Valentine's Menu which also included a glass of (very nice) Prosecco. All in all, service was excellent, food was lovely and the atmosphere/surroundings were great (although it was a quiet day, there was music at just the right volume to provide ambience but allow for conversation). We had a wonderful time and will be returning again later in the year.

I took my mother for her birthday for afternoon tea after seeing all of the positive reviews. Such a shame that our experience was so bad! Arrived and stood in the bar for several minutes while the three young bar staff stood behind the bar chatting. After a few minutes we were beckoned over! They confirmed that we were there for afternoon tea and we had requested no cranberry on our turkey sandwiches. We were sat at the table and were given tea but no options of what tea we could drink. We were not provided with any afternoon tea menu to tell us what we would be eating. The afternoon tea was brought to the table and there was no explanation as to what the food was. The sandwiches had cranberry in so had to be sent back. The scones were burnt and hard and the mince pies were clearly shop bought. The cheesecake was so distrusting that we could not eat it. We were there for about 2.5 hours. Not once did anyone come to our table in that time to see if everything was ok and I had to get up once to find a staff member to ask for some more tea. An extremely disappointing experience, poor service from staff who obviously couldn’t be bothered. We would have perhaps come back to have lunch or dinner as we are local but the whole experience put us off. We won’t be returning unfortunately.

We chose Aldwyns at Ellerslie for celebrating my Sisters Birthday with Afternoon Tea. We were uncertain about choosing a restaurant which also serviced a retirement complex. But boy were we delighted that we did! The location overlooking the Worcestershire countryside is stunning and although we couldn't take advantage of the outdoor terrace due to the time of year we enjoyed the very contemporary and comfortable interior of the restaurant. The Staff were very attentive and courteous, and the service was exemplary. We took advantage of a special 2 for 1 offer for afternoon tea and this can sometimes be reflected in a reduced quality product being provided however, not in this case we were delighted with the excellent quality, content and variety of our "tea", with fresh and delicious ingredients and which catered very well for our parties particular dietary requirements. We took advantage of a "Prosecco starter", and there was a constant supply of tea and coffee as well as being offered other refreshments during our stay.We had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon here and are planning our next visit to enjoy another one. From our experience we would certainly recommend you try Aldwyns at Ellerslie for a special Afternoon tea experience.

The starters were alright but the smoked salmon and avocado mousse came without any bread. The beef was overcooked and tough with uninteresting veg and the plateful was luke warm, one of the 3 servings came 5 minutes after the rest. We ordered 4 coffees which came in cups not very warm one might of expected a cafetière, and 2 desserts which never came at all. The service was very slow and when I complained about the whole meal the 2 members of staff said they were short of one and were not surprised at my complaint. As a previous reviewer has said the wine list is very expensive, an ordinary Argentian Merlot £31.

The wife and I were staying in the Abbey Hotel and wanted to peruse the wine list before heading out for our evening meal. As it's not on the website, we stopped by to get a copy emailed over. The list is not extensive - which is cool by us and the choice is still good. And the prices are competitive for the restaurant.Don't worry about not being retiring age to dine here - we're 30 somethings and was made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped in the door - both times. The reception team and the staff in the restaurant / bar are friendly, polite and welcoming. The restaurant itself is gorgeous - art decor and classics with a modern twist. And during the day, I am sure you would be able to see for miles. However in the evening it is cold - the air con and under floor heating don't play together nicely, as I was told. The food is hit and miss. My starter was served cold - which i wasn't expecting - but it was supposed to be like that (didn't say on the menu). My mains with the chicken, beetroot and blackberries was good - beautiful flavours all mixed together. The wife's halibut was good too. For dessert I chose the plum pudding - however that was cold too including the crème Anglaise (not room temp or tepid) - i did mention it to the waiter at the time and i was told my comments would be passed onto the chef. My wife's cheesecake was not what she expected. Aside from the food, the evening felt rushed - we had three courses, and wine within the hour and out within an hour and a half. This did dampen the experience. We were also the only ones on a Friday night. I know it's part of a retirement village, however the general public can dine there too and non residents were in the bar area. For me / us this is bordering on two to three - based on everything - experience, food, surroundings - mixing classy restaurant, friendly staff with odd tasting food in a cold, empty restaurant. Look, we will give it another go - now that we know what to expect - just not in January though - and we'll wear something warmer for the winter months.

We had delicious afternoon tea but did rather bring down the average age on the clientele! We weren't sure what to expect and it appears to be part of a retirement village but the restaurant itself was very pleasant and comfortable. Sandwiches and cakes were plentiful, served in deco style, 3 tier tea displays, and tea was "bottomless". The gluten free selection was really good too. Not sure whether the cakes were made in house or not but they were nice, and the sandwiches were fresh. The staff were friendly and efficient so all in all we had a lovely couple of hours catching up!

This new hotel is situated quite near the Malvern theatre and in close proximity to the town centre. The hotel is finished to a very high spec and looks very nice.

We attended a charity fundraiser lunch for Malvern Theatres. The dining room is fairly large, very airy/light and beautifully decorated. Service is friendly and faultless. The wine list is VERY expensive (cheapest Merlot and Sauvignon was £60 for the two bottles - which were OK but not amazing) ... we would have liked a third bottle but not at those prices. IMO they should reduce the wine list prices by 20% - they would sell more. We also thought that chardonnay was a bad choice as the House White, it is very unfashionable nowadays. We were warned by friends before we went that the wines were very pricey. The starter based on amazing smoked salmon was fine dining. The main course based on lamb cutlets in a herb and mustard crust was almost faultless, but served on plates that were not hot, so the lovely pea puree was cold. Orange and chocolate desert got high praise. We looked at the normal lunch prices and they are quite expensive, but based on our experience they are probably worth it. Early days, but with a few tweaks this could be somewhere we will visit as a treat.

We were lucky enough to stay overnight here last night whilst visiting Malvern and decided to eat in this beautiful restaurant. Such an attractive setting over looking the countryside. Lots of choice on the menu. Our dinner was delicious and cooked to perfection. We chose River Trout and Chicken with basil and goats cheese. We thought the prices were very reasonable for the excellent quality. The interior is also incredibly stylish. I would strongly recommend this restaurant whether you are a couple or a larger group and I think it would be particularly nice for a special family gathering - enjoy!

Treated ourselves to afternoon tea at this gorgeous restaurant and my goodness what a treat it was!! I have had quite a few afternoon teas in my time and for variety, originality, flavour and presentation this has to be the very best that I have had the pleasure of experiencing. From tiny scotch eggs and beef and Yorkshire pudding tartlets to gin and tonic strawberry cheese cake, every morsel was outstanding. We have big appetites and had made sure that we arrived really hungry.. and yet we needed the take away boxes to bring our leftovers home! Emily is a wonderful restaurant manager; she is always cheery and attentive and ensures the opulent surroundings feel friendly and inviting.

Went there for afternoon tea, the location is not that far away from the centre, however, not crowded or loud as some other places we have visited during our stay in Malvern. Great service and very friendly staff members, the premises of the restaurant are very up-to-date, it offers both modern interior and a beautiful view of the hills and pine trees if you choose the tables outside, which we did. Enjoyed both the afternoon tea set with a colourful range of both sweet and savoury pastries, as well as the opportunity to spend some quality time with the family in calm environment.

I am reluctant to share this stylish, welcoming restaurant as I want to keep it to myself but feel they deserve the publicity. This gorgeous dining area with a terrace overlooking the valley towards Brendon Hill is so inviting. It is matched by the wonderful staff who know what excellent service is. The lunch matched the high standards and my guest remarked “it was the best meal she had had in years”

Having been here for a wonderful afternoon tea last year we decided to pop in for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant is in the Audley Ellerslie retirement village complex in the centre of Malvern (we're about 15 years off that yet!) so an unusual situation however the bar / lounge & restaurant are beautifully decorated and has a great menu and welcoming, professional staff. Views are fantastic, food was very good.

My mum booked afternoon tea here for my birthday, we soon discovered it was a wonderful hidden gem! We sat on the terrace where they served us in the sunshine. A lovely relaxed atmosphere. We really enjoyed it, Afternoon tea stand was very indulgent with more enough for both of us. They even gave us a lift down to the train station after which was the icing on the cake! Looking to return very soon!

We came for afternoon tea during a break in the malvern hills for my mother in laws 70th on 25th august. A little worried at first as it seemed to be in a retirement complex but on arrival we needn't have been, it's an independent restaurant that just happens to be within a retirement complex. A beautiful location, spotlessly clean, very well furnished and a warm welcome.

Just had an amazing afternoon tea at Aldwyn's at Ellerslie. Food delightful, so much choice available, service impeccable. We went in for a look, four hours later, my mother, daughter and I were still enjoying ourselves (empty prosecco bottles aside!) A wonderful environment, and certainly a venue we will be revisiting. Cannot recomend highly enough. We are looking forward to revisiting in future for more Afternoon Teas, along with breakfasts, dinners and certainly a number of their entertainment evenings! Well done, Aldwyns, and thank you!

We called in for Sunday lunch and were shown into a beautiful restaurant with stunning views. Our Hereford Beef main course was superb and served with extra brown gravy which accentuated the flavour. What a place...... we called in after the Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday night, and the place was rocking. The atmosphere was incredible and the staff were even better. Even though it was so busy, the staff were friendly and so helpful. My only complaint was that it closed!!!! Matt has also been incredible as my wife lost her handbag, I contacted him and he went out of his way to find it for me. If you are in the area, please make sure you call in and experience this place, its brilliant. We hope to be back soon.

Amazing atmosphere all around be it in the restaurant or the bar. I discovered this little gem on accident, it was a very happy accident and I will be returning without a doubt. Four of us had a light lunch here yesterday. We had hoped to sit outside by the lake but it was cold so we were in the bistro which is lovely. We all ordered sandwiches which were delicious and presented beautifully with a small selection of dressed salad leaves . We all had banana sponge pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream - a bit like sticky toffee pudding but even better. The staff were immaculately turned out, and genuinely welcoming and helpful. This is such a lovely place and we will definitely be back before long.
