Great olde worlde pub, with good ambience

Staff were a bit silly. Managed to tip all my gravy off the plate and knocked over the condiment bowl ( was all packet sauces) Atmosphere was brill as h They had a band playing in the corner. If we go again I think I'd have the beef dinner not the chicken

This has got be 1 of the best pubs in town on a Sunday afternoon. I was there last weekend and there were 4 lads jamming with a banjo, double bass, guitar and a violin. Just mucking about. Great beera on tap, screens for sport (OK not for everyone but...) and people were tucking into Sunday roasts. Perfection!

Shared a Blue Bell Ale Battered Fish and Chips meal between my wife and I. Really hit the spot … would certainly again but it’s a long way to drive 😀

Lovely pub and a great pub menu, great price for a steak dinner. We ordered food for 9 people, and it all came out at the same time and piping hot. The service was great

Went to the bluebell inn pub in Cardiff high street with friends on Sunday 8/9/24 ….it was booked for 16 to 18 people at least a month before … booking was given to the Manager for Sunday lunch on this day … however, the Manager did not pass the information onto the rest of his staff… hence, when we arrive at 1pm our allotted time we were not only told that the staff did not have our pre orders … these were given to the Manager when booking ! but the staff also did not know anything about the booking ! Suffice to say the 2 members of staff who were there worked hard to not only set the room up but serve our lunch albeit in stages …I am not sure if I would go here again, but I also hope the Manager will give the relevant members of staff who were very helpful that afternoon a good bonus !

Great little pub, the right side is great, the left side is obviously new and has less experienced bar staff. Can't pour a cider. Cider is not supposed to have a head and whilst most places can't help it, this was over the top.

Excellent pub. Thursday evening a bit quiet but service was excellent. Food tasty and well priced. Pub was spotless - cleanest toilets seen in a while. Recommended.

Female behind bar did not show much interest to customers. Waited a long time for food order. Asked how long order would be and was told it was ready. On receiving the food it was cold, pointed this out to staff got a refund and left.

We went as a family for dinner but the food was not to our liking, little flavor and small quantities. We were also disappointed with the service as there was only one person behind the bar to serve us.

Came in just for a drink. Some of the seating was broken. Where we sat, we could smell the toilets, especially the mens. Not sure about food as didn't eat here.

Called in Saturday night for a gin and giggles with friends. Typical old mans pup in the centre of Cardiff. Terrible experiance with "Mo" on the door who apoun realising we were inside the venue sent unsolicited messages and pictures to my friend via GRINDR. Made to feel very uncomfortable after that so left.

Definitely a pub of two halves. There's the original old Blue bell, and then there's the converted shop next door which is ok but not really the Blue bell.

It's a very crowded location to sit and drink beer in the evening. You won't get bored

Went for Sunday lunch here in February 2023. Was a little quiet but you , probably, would expect this on a Sunday. The food was great for the price and the bar staff were amazing 😁😁😁.

Visited at the end of lunch time and it was very quiet, so I'm not scoring the atmosphere. The bar person was good and nice, and the food was good value. (The chips are weird - shaped like a gutter and somewhere between a chip and a crisp.)

Sat outside people watching, then in for a meal. Very nice food. The blonde bar lady dealing with pints and food orders was very efficient indeed.

Stopped off for a quick pint after work midweek. Easy access from the street and plenty of empty tables for midweek at that time of day. Plenty of choice of drinks. Food available up to a certain time with usual pub grub choices. I didn't eat.

Love the blue bell. One of my favourite bars in Cardiff. Very much the old world looks inside. Although they have expanded into the space next door so this is a bit more contemporary, it still has the great vib.

Went in on the way back to the hotel.we had two half's of bitter cost £5.20. Beer not very good.was a better pub before the name change.

Great atmosphere and super friendly service. A good address in Cardiff

The food lacked flavor, and even the Sunday Roast was a little cold, the mash potatoes lacked flavor as well, the only thing we really liked was The Welsh Cawl was good, with taste. The environment was nice, and the sevice was really nice

We were looking for a good spot to get a drink before the Wales football match in Cardiff and saw a good amount of fans in there. We stopped for a drink and carried on our way to watch the game elsewhere. It had a decent atmosphere and places to sit even though it was busy. The service was fine and wasn’t anything atypical.

Extremely delicious food/vegan wellington Sunday roast, despite slow service and “only one chef” available. Loved it tho.

A lovely, old fashioned style pub, with a good selection of lagers, beers and ciders. Didn't have food there, so cannot comment. The only negative was the young man serving, he ignored us and served others who were there after us. Thank goodness for the young lady who then attended to us. Only stayed for one round, and moved on.

Three Glamorgan Brewery ales were sunk and all were good, unusually it was the house beer that was best. This is a totally reliable city centre pub and certainly came up trumps today when quite a few hostelries were closed over the Christmas period. And thanks to the staff for putting the darts on TV 👍

Good selection of real ales, I had the Jeminers Pitchfork and fish finger sandwich, both very nice. Smallish pub, so can be busy.

Not a huge pub so prepare to hover for a table. Lovely atmosphere and great staff. All four of us ordered different meals which were all good and tasty. I had the fish & chips and the batter was fantastic. Food orders end at 8.00

An excellent real ale pub serving freshly-cooked food to order using locally-sourced ingredients as well as superb craft beers including their own ale which shares the pub's name.

We didn't have any food though the menu looks really good. Just came in with my boyfriend and the barmaid was really nice and directed us to a good Chinese! Nice old school pub! Thanks guys :) love bristol x

A pretty decent pub with a nice atmosphere. However the Sunday roast was the worst we have ever had. Watery gravy, the potatoes weren’t crispy and were cold. One of our plates had parsnips the other had leeks. Staff were very apologetic.

Lovely classic pub at the top of the High Street a stones throw from Cardiff Castle. Their menu is small with typical pub fare, only crisps for us on this visit but will definitely be back to sample their fish and chips. The drinks were good, the seating was cozy and the staff were friendly. We will definitely return

Barmaid very grumpy when given a compliment as is often like this plus hardly any chicken in curry plus chips were ruined and soggy as drowned under curry sauce.
