Stopped for a dinner on long, rushed journey and staff prepared food quickly and helpfully offered it to go - thanks to Esme.

Very nice atmosphere and staff and efficient service however the portion size for the price I paid was very disappointing.

We had a celebration of daughter and son-in-law’s recent wedding here. The food was impeccable. The service from the team was personal, friendly and above all, efficient. We had the most wonderful time.

The pubs you visit character can come from the building , the thatched roof , the log burner in winter , the canopy when it’s raining., good outside space when it’s sunny . Let me tell you this pub stop absolutely has it all . We were so happy to pull in to so much space - we have an American fifth wheel and not a lot of pub stops have room for us but this was amazing . As a group we had booked for food and had a few drinks before our booking , the whole atmosphere was one of welcome and nothing was a problem . The most relaxed and pleasurable greeting by all staff. . Then we met Babs , if Carlsberg did barmaids she is it , the banter , the cheek , the absolute character of this lady if bottled could serve the hospitality industry the justice it deserves. Amazing service and a credit to the Blue Ball inn . Everyone was great but her service was absolutely knock out and such a rarity in this day and age . Enough praise cannot be bestowed on her and I hope that management recognise the diamond they have because you can employ 20 people but one with character like this if hard to come by . Do not hesitate to visit this pub the food was outstanding , the building beautiful, clean and staff fantastic. Thank you - incase you didn’t get the hint we will be back!!

We were refugees from a big nearby hotel, and we wanted a decent evening meal. Very happy with the Blue Ball, grown-up service, well prepared and well presented meal, traditional atmosphere, everything was fine.

Absolute gem of a pub/restaurant, very close (5 minutes walk) from the Courtyard by Marriott at Sandy Park. Very friendly staff, excellent food - every plate we saw coming out looked great! Lovely kids menu! Can't wait to revisit next time we are in devon!

Stayed overnight on our way down to the coast for the weekend. Room was lovely. Staff could not have been more helpful and the breakfast was delicious! Definitely would stay again. Highly recommend.

On Saturday my wife and I went to the Chiefs game and had a meal at the Blue Ball before. From start to finish we were met with friendly, helpful staff, from a warm greeting in the car park to cheery, helpful bar staff to attentive waiting staff - everyone clearly very efficient and seemingly very happy in their work - all making for a most enjoyable customer experience. And then there is the food....! How they produce such delicious, well presented food for so many so quickly is amazing! Thanks again to all the staff for Saturday - it was great!

We booked the Blue Ball for Sunday lunch after our daughters christening and had a wonderful time. The staff were extremely organised and the service was spot on. They kindly took some photos of us as well at the end of the lunch. The food was delicious. Really positive feedback on the roasts, mac & cheese and my pan fried salmon was very tasty. Generous portion sizes. Overall would highly recommend for big family get-togethers as well as smaller lunches.

A lovely dog friendly local pub with a warm welcome when you arrive, fantastic food using local produce, great atmosphere, staff are very attentive and nothing is ever to much trouble, a good selection of local ales & beers to choose from. A MUST VISIT IF YOU ARE LOCAL OR VISITING THE AREA !!!!!

Needed to find a short stay, at short notice, in order to visit family friends in Exeter. Very convenient, just off M5. They are a pub with rooms, lots of outside covered space (we parked a camper up via the BritStop arrangement) and big parking area. Perfect friendly welcoming team who made a real fuss of our dog too. Loved it so much that the original dinner plans morphed from that into a breakfast the next day, dinner the following evening and a great Sunday lunch. Across the 4 meals the food was consistently great, used a lot of local suppliers which we appreciate and there is a good wine list and range of beers and some non-alcoholic ones too. The pub creates a congenial atmosphere which meant we had nice conversations with locals, staff and visitors alike. Good range of customers - everyone from people coming off shift for a quick pint to families wanting leisurely meals. We even met someone using the EV charger service whilst they tucked into their evening meal . I gather it’s busy on match days (the Chiefs stadium is just across the bridge) but it’s definitely one to try. Can’t recommend more highly. We will be back!

Perfect for a pre and post match pint and meal before an Exeter Chief match at Sandy Park. Only a 5 minute stroll from the stadium. Great range of beer and a lovely menu of good quality home cooked food. Staff friendly and create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Give it a visit, you will not be disappointed

Arrived here today and was booked in for 1.45pm,babs(the lovely Lisa) couldn’t find our booking .we showed her the confirmation of the booking ,to which they hadn’t received it ,it caused her a bit of a headache as they were booked up and she was trying to sort out something for us,to then find out that the booking we made had accidentally been cancelled our end that same day so it was our fault,!we had travelled down from Yorkshire and Hereford to visit our elderly mum/sister/aunt and to take her out for lunch! After a lot of juggling babs had found some tables and put us together, she was outstanding and so were the rest of the staff! The food was beautiful plentiful and fresh,we had the trio meats which melted in your mouth ,beautiful fresh vegetables,broccoli cheese and a medley of cabbage and leeks really tasty!All the way through the meal we were well looked after! What a find, super lovely, easy going delightful staff. Really lovely Inn run so well a rare find. Made our family visit easy, delicious and so much more food laid out than expected. We packed up lots to take home too! Great team effort guys, from booking with Adams’ careful planning, we had Louis and Adams’ wonderful, superb delicious home cooked food, catering our family wake. On a sad day, you made it go so much more smoothly. Could not want or fault anything. Natalie, Babs and the bar team are superb front of house. Topped of with a superb breakfast and rocket fuel coffee. Price was really reasonable too. Very Fair indeed, keep up the awesome work team. Your hard work shines through. We went to the Blue Ball to celebrate my birthday for dinner and what a fantastic time we had. The food was amazing, fresh tastes and all freshly produced and served hot. I've been before and it's always it a great evening. One of the reasons it's so good here is because of the staff! They are so attentive and welcoming and make each visit seem memorable. A special shout out to Josh, who not only made our evening such fun but organised the Birthday mass sing along!! What a super host he is. This pub/restaurant certainly know how to provide a quality service. Definitely our favourite pub. Thanks all.

We came for our works Christmas do the food was amazing and the staff also, they were so welcoming and really helpful. I will be recommending to everyone, and we will be back again :)

My husband and I went here for a dinner date, it’s always difficult finding a nice place to eat in January as most places are closed. We were delighted with this restaurant completely from the warm reception to service, to the fantastic food. I’m a stickler for cleanliness especially when it comes to cutlery, so many places I find the cutlery to be dirty, but the Blue Ball didn’t make me want to wash them before using. Perfectly clean and polished cutlery and glasses. It was a perfect place with all round quality, so we have re-booked for another date in two weeks time. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for good service, cleanliness and fabulous food.

As always, fantastic! As soon as you walk through the door, you're warmly greeted by Babs and Josh - both very attentive and great at their job as nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is incredible with large portions. I'd recommend the Korean chicken wings, they're described as being sexy and they certainly are! 5* from Gary & Tina, very pleased to be our local!

Lovely traditional country pub with superb food and service. All the meals were freshly cooked and the chef was very accommodating with my current restricted diet. Everyone was really pleased with their meals and their was a lovely ambience. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the lady who served us - we will be back, thank you!

This marks my initial visit, and I thoroughly enjoyed the curry of the day. Meanwhile, others opted for sausage mash or ham, egg, and chips. My child, a devoted fan of halloumi burgers, declared her plate the best halloumi here.

Busy friendly pub, good atmosphere on a Monday night. All the staff were attentive and cheerful. Dog friendly. Nice menu , probably not all cooked from scratch on site but very nice meals - haddock and chips and confit duck both good.

We stopped here on our way to Cornwall mainly as this pub has electric car charging however we were also really impressed with the food and service. We would certainly come back again on our journey next time. We ate steak sandwiches, burger and a tuna sandwich. They were all delicious. Service was really friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend!

Stopped en route to Cornwall to use the fast charger to top up our EV. Lovely friendly staff, happy to bring lunch to the car (ultimately not needed), A great pot of tea for 2 & well filled hearty sandwiches. Best of all dog friendly garden. Will return.

Great place to stay if you want to explore this part of Devon - easy reach of the coast and Dartmoor. The pub only has four rooms but they are clean and comfortable. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was excellent- also room and by - great value for money,

Found this little gem on our route back from Cornwall to Leeds, fed up of traffic and needed the loo so turned off the A30 at Exeter and found it, food was amazing and it’s family friendly including dogs, definitely worth the trip.

We had a really nice evening at the Blue Ball. The staff are very friendly and there is always a relaxed atmosphere. They serve tasty pub grub. I was slightly disappointed with my chicken linguine main (chicken was overcooked) but the sticky toffee pudding for dessert was delicious.
