Gluten free fish and chips was pretty much the only option for me but the food was excellent apart from the crushed peas. I would gage preferred mushy peas and the quantity of peas was effectively enormous. Hot food and good service

Had the pork belly roast, the other half had Yorkshire pudding and half the cauliflower cheese as dairy allergy, the dog was given biscuits

Lovely quiet dinner for two, lots of very appealing looking things on the menu, but a burger, and a duck excellently delivered was what we settled for. Cheese board to follow with delightful local cheeses a real highlight.

Enjoyed the Leap Year pub quiz last night with perfect quiz food menu. Great atmosphere and the quiz was well suited to all. A microphone would be a great idea going forward to be heard better, but a great night. Love our local.

We went to our first quiz "Leap Year Quiz" last night, group of 6, and had a great night. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really well organised and had a buzzing atmosphere. A real mix of rounds which made it fun. Everyone seemed to be having a ball and interacting well! We didn't have any food, but it looked so good that we have booked to return for a meal next week! A lot of effort went into the quiz, we especially loved the tasting round! Really liked the fact that there was tabs and table service. 4 of our party had never been to The Blue Anchor before, but we will be coming back!! Highly recommended!

Just got back from the worst pub quiz I’ve ever been to. The room’s too small to cope with that many people, the crowd are too loud and the quizmaster didn’t have a PA system so was trying to shout over everyone. The quiz questions were a joke… questions like “When did the current landlady take over the pub,” “When did Barney start as our chef” and questions about the menu which then got “voided” because the quizmaster realised the menus are on the table. I was half expecting the quizmaster to ask “Guess my national insurance number”. We ordered our food and then over an hour later they announce the kitchen is closing. Turns out they hadn’t written down our order, despite having told us several times “it’s just coming”. Felt like something out of Fawlty Towers. Gave up and left at the interval.

On the way back from Tonbridge. Last time it was fully booked, but got in easily today. Chicken pie for me, fish and chips for wife. Waitress asked her if she wanted the normal or small portion (not listed!) with the comment "the small portion is enough". Thank heaven it was offered as small was large enough. As for my pie, absolutely beautiful. All washed down with a gorgeous Rioja. Only let-down was it was almost empty, with just four groups. Outside their control. Yes, would def go again, and recommend.

Been in the area for 10 years, and this was our first visit with friends, had been told it was really good, but really, it was disappointing, it was a music night, but the atmosphere was ... well ... dismal.. perhaps it was a one off...

We just went for drinks but booked a table as needed space for wheelchair. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had a great time . Thank you ladies for your great service xx

Thank you for such a fab evening. This is a pub with a difference. Decorated beautifully for autumn and staff so friendly and welcoming. The menu is so unique for a pub. My husband and daughter had the lobster subroll which they loved but i have to say i think i chose the top meal which was the 12hr cooked belly pork ramen noodles. Absolutely delicious. Thank you for also making a fuss of Willow our Cavalier King Charles.

To be honest l wasn't expecting much..It was very quiet.. But the food was excellent. l had Monkfish, Mussels and Caviar.. Whole I'm here working ill return..

Service and quality of food were great. From outside though it was hard to work out how to get into the pub and we were unsure if it was open!

Ok the atmosphere is good, but just feel like no where is perfect for everyone. To be honest we love stopping here for a drink and if time allows meals as well. I think it is one of the best pubs I have been to for a while.

£25 for one drink and some picnic food...totally overpriced. Kept all the doors open so it was absolutely freezing. Would not recommend.

Gorgeous popular,family friendly pub. Kitchen open till 4pm on a Sunday. Huge child friendly garden. Ample parking including X3 EV Charging stations. I had the southern fried chicken burger and fries , he had the battered haddock with chunky chips & squashed peas. It was all very yummy.

Quite a niche little place tbh, the locals were semi friendly and the bar staff were extra friendly, a nice range of drinks on tap and the food was pretty good definitely needed more sauce but the portions were more than generous!

Had an excellent burger with really friendly staff. Slight downsides were the service was very slow and the diet coke was flat. There are electric car chargers in the car park (fast ones) and the pub is dog friendly. Will absolutely go back based on the food alone.

Desperate for a car charger I found one here. Thank god for that! I’ve just had dinner whilst waiting for the charge. Atmosphere was friendly as soon as I walked in and despite not having my initial order request left, the alternatives I chose were excellent and service just right. If I didn’t live 3hrs north of here I’m sure myself and my family would be regulars.

Giving this 5* because of the great service and good food. Limited menu but everyone in our party enjoyed their meal and better to have well prepared food from a small menu than average food from a large menu. The Focaccia with oil and vinegar was 👍, the haddock and chips firm and fresh and there was good beer on tap. My only criticism would be the lack of soft surfaces meant the acoustics were not great, although maybe it was the table of ladies with wine that was the problem 😉. I'd happily return and now that I know they allow overnight parking of campervans for patrons, that will be a definite!

Lovely pub meals were beautiful didn't give it 5 starts as service in between was slow, looked like only 2 staff on but was perfect. Was a different menu to what we are used to so some odd ones but we chose the steak Guinness and mushroom pie hand cooked chips and shredded cabbage was beautiful we had 12 of us all different meals of course

New owners and refurbished to a high standard will call again when in the area. Now 4 years later they have run the mill of covid. Out the other side and better for it. Still after a good place to stop with a large sunny garden with an area for the younger to keep occupied.

Lovely staff, lovely pub but AVOID the small plates if you actually want any food. We had a selection of small plates and were shocked at how little food there was. Even if they’d been described as starters they’d be on the small side. The asparagus is £11.99 and consists of literally four spears of asparagus and an egg yolk.

Went there on a reasonably quiet Saturday afternoon. Bar staff were very friendly and accommodating of our dog, made sure they had treats and water and made us feel very welcome. Service was absolutely outstanding throughout. Food was also incredible. Had a burger from the menu as a quick bite and it was flawless. Couldn’t say enough good things about the place, will definitely be back. 10/10 would recommend.

Visited here Monday for belated mother's day meal and was extremely impressed. Food was delicious and very good portion sizes. The gentleman serving us was very friendly, efficient and a hit with both my baby and dog so that made me comfortable. The only negative would give is there was a rather large mark up on the wine about 4 times the price Highly recommend lovely country pub

A stunning, warm and welcoming pub, dog friendly too which is always a huge plus, and she enjoyed the treats! The food was exceptional too, it was great to experience a chef who isn't scared to season their food!

Friendly and warm atmosphere. Brilliant varied menu with lots of options of seasonal fresh food. We had the venison scotch egg, which was incredible followed by the tandoori chicken burger and salmon Bellini. I would have stayed and tried the whole menu if I could! We then had the date pudding and cheese board which were amazing. Can’t recommend highly enough. Staff offered to turn on heaters as it was a little colder where we were sitting. I had the house red which was delicious! Hope to visit again soon, thank you!

I first visited when the current managers relaunched a few years ago. Its a very professional operation and probably the only place to eat in at Crowborough ~ the oysters in bathtub gin grim, but the pork and cod beautifully cooked. Thank you to the great bar-staff who subtly relocated a pair of over loud Jocks next door! My partner is a Washington legal but he said the volume too much xx

Roast beef was awful.tough as old boots roast potatoes we so hard the knife would not cut them dreadful all round .won't be going back

A large group of us ate pre-ordered meals here. I had a beetroot Wellington which was excellent and came with red cabbage and roast potatoes. My friend had a duck breast (quite small and also quite tough) which only came with half a baked fennel and a small duck meat ball. It only represented a small main course. Those who chose the turkey meal seemed to have an adequate meal. The puddings were good but nothing special. Overall a little disappointing. They also seemed to be short on waiting staff but this was only to be expected with the Omicron virus in full flow and they did their best. The above was written Dec '21 but today we went there again (1 dec 2022l and I have to say that the experience was much more favorable. The food was well cooked and presented and the waiting staff were efficient and unobtrusive. We'll done!

Lovely clean warm. Staff were very helpful and polite. The food was excellent very large. We would tell our friends about it.

My brother and I have lunched here 4 times over the past 6 months. Every time, both the food and service were impeccable. They do not serve "Run of the mill" pub grub, but excellent, well-priced meals in an excellent pub. We have eaten ( at different times) Octopus, fish and chips, pork belly, Guinea fowl all beautifully cooked and well presented and have barely touched the menu. The cheeseboard (mainly local) is really good. Well worth a trip out.

Had a birthday celebration here on 8th October for 20 guests and what can I say? It was perfect in every way possible. The staff were so lovely and helpful. Attentive without being in the way. Our square table set up was perfect. As for the food, it's the best restaurant food I've had in a long time. Everyone's starter, main and dessert was delicious. Served hot, looked beautiful. All in all top class. If you're looking for a celebration venue then look no further, you won't be disappointed! We will be back, soon!

Excellent pub with alot of choice for food and drink. It has its own gin menu. The pub has lots of parking and a lovely outdoor space in the summer. The people that work there are extreamly helpful and friendly. Food was very yummy spoilt for choice with the menu. Food wasn't horrifically expensive. Wasn't busy when we went in the week. Food came relatively quick. Would definatly go back again.

Great place for Sunday lunch with friends and family. We have had excellent food the two times we have visited and will certainly be going back again. Friendly, obliging staff, pleasant garden with a small play area for kiddies. Thank you Blue Anchor for a lovely afternoon.

Fantastic welcome from all the staff. Kind and helpful, really friendly. We had a dog with us and they even put some treats on the table for him. Passing through in day vans and they were more than happy for us to stay overnight, which meant we could have some drinks too! Menu was uncomplicated and food was good.

We just wanted to pop Amy and her team at The Blue Anchor a review to say a huge thank you for all you and your lovely team organised and arranged for our baby shower. You completely incorporated our vision of a graze table and it was a real talking point with all our guests who took many photographs. Thank you for accommodating all our requests despite many being thrown at you last minute, you really went above and beyond in all aspects including the back restaurant and the pizza shack, we will definitely be back for many more of those they were delicious and everyone agreed. Finally thank you for taking much of the stress away from organising such an event, and allowing us to really enjoy this special moment. Huge thanks!

Food was a amazing and the staff were unbelievably lovely. They even made me (a non drinker) a hot milk. Superb service.

We booked here for a relative's birthday party. We couldn't book an outside table, they are first come first served. The kids play area looks like set dressing from the walking dead. The food was... Below average. I had the pork belly, which came with what appeared to be irradiated soggy carrots. My wife had cod and chips. Hard to get that wrong, right? No. By some feat of culinary butchery the fish managed to be both wet and powdery at the same time, and overall just tasted like the colour beige. Less said about the halloumi the better. I do not recommend, even out of perverse curiosity.

Dog-friendly and friendly pub that welcomed us and our 2 Border Terriers. We really enjoyed our visit and lunch of fish and chips, definitely now on our list of go-to pubs.

The blue anchor Pub review from a young man As pubs go first of all this is a solid choice with a large indoor area for food and drink accompanied by a impressive beer garden with plenty of room for children to play about without coming too close to others. I must say a rather strange bar layout however this is forgiven for the selection of bevs which is plentyfull I do have some gripes but this is due to my personal opinion and not to be seen as a big negative the name of the pub hints to the blue tone and it definitely lives up to the name. With it being by the road this does create a background soundtrack of engine and road noise however the pleasant sound of people having a nice day out is louder. The staff where very nice and even though the head on my pint was rather on the big side I would not hesitate to come back here overall. Smoking and dogs allowed in garden is also a bonus. 7/10 solid
