Loved my olive and feta cheese salad at this restaurant. Mixed types of olives with some mint, cucumber, tomatoes, on small sprigs of romaine lettuce and tiny homemade croutons. The restaurant was crowded at lunch, and offered other items including several desserts. Menus are wrapped in Wool plaids from different Scottish family clans. I enjoyed this small roadside cafe very much!

Called in to Blas Skye today for Sunday Lunch. Brooke gave us the best welcome as soon as we walked in. Also advised us on the places to visit while we were on Skye. The service was really good, nothing was too much trouble. The Lunch prepared by Chef Stevie was so delicious. The owner Joan was really nice and helpful too. Blas has a friendly relaxed atmosphere, and great views over the road. There is a carpark 2 minutes up the road.

It was busy. We had a reservation but that was somehow forgotten. But no problem we got seated. Few items weren’t available anymore. But they told up front. The guy behind the counter started for the first time. He was a bit hectic but did his job well. We ordered soup of the day with an extra bread roll And butter curl. And fish and chips. Portion size was decent. The soup was tasty. Pricing was Ok. Nothing special. Just ok for a bite. Don’t expect culinary excellence, but just decent food.

Friendly person took our orders, and was great with refills on beer. But after my third beer, my mom falling asleep at the table, and my dads low blood sugar making him see red….we saw our food get delivered to table beside us. We asked what was going on, please give us the food we ordered an hour ago. Those people sat down 15 minutes ago. Simple to do, just don’t set it in front of them and set it down in front of us. Nope. They took all the food to the back, chatted for 5 minutes, came back out and gave it to them. Our order was lost in the back of house. You clearly knew you f’ed when you brought the food to the back of house, and decided to double down on it. That’s a bit of a mind blowing decision. So I paid full price for our drinks (🙄), and we walked out. Shame.

Seemed like a nice place when we walked in. Until we heard the owner/manager ‘telling off’ a member of staff. It was clearly heard by other customers as their conversations went quiet. Not a professional or respectful way to speak to your staff. Furthermore, the fish and chips were standard and the batter greasy. On the plus side, the young gentleman who came back to our table with extra tomato sauce, was very polite and friendly.

Read the menu details on their website and was excited to read they had gluten free options. Turned up for lunch, hoping for gluten free fish and chips, my favourite, to be told they had no gluten free options! Nobody seemed to have a clue about anything, didn’t offer to double check and had blank looks when I told them their website advertised gluten free options. Very disappointing!

Driving through Dunvegan on our way to the castle (seat of the MacLeods of course!) we spied this roadside eatery and made a note to drop by on our return. We weren't disappointed! Alan is a salt (and vinegar?) of the earth sort of guy from Glasgow and served us up a rare treat with our three fish & chips portions (or fish suppers as he insisted!) The supper portions were generous and deliciously just right, not too moist or too dry. The batter must be a secret recipe; either way-hit the spot.My two sons and I agree, these were the best haddock fish "suppers" we'd had in ages.

Firstly I would like to say the lady who was welcoming people was lovely and couldn't of been nicer! Which made it even harder to say about how bad the food was, we ordered the spicy sausage wrap and Cullen skink... Wow oh wow never had such a bad lunch like it, for somewhere who's name means taste in Gaelic this was the opposite. Thinking a spicy sausage sounded good and maybe homemade. Nope cheap pork sausage with sweet chilli sauce on it! Cullen skink- we couldn't contain ourselfs on how bad it was. Hot milk with potatoes and smoked haddock so thin we thought so asking for marshmallows with it. It's not a hard dish but this was so bad we left it. An older lady next to us ordered it and we had to leave before we could see her reaction, bless her!Luckily we ordered chips with our lunch and headed south.Don't think we will be back unless it's for cake which looked yummy!! Stay clear of the main courses.

We happened across Blas Skye looking for breakfast in Dunvegan. They had just opened and welcomed our family of four and our dog in. We ordered 4 breakfasts and had leaf tea and fresh ground coffee from Inverness Coffee Roasters while we waited. The coffee was delicious. There was fresh water for our dog. Four full Scottish breakfasts then appeared with bacon, sausages, black pudding, haggis, tomato, poached egg & baked beans. The food was great & service excellent. They were part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme & took card payments. The cafe has outdoor seating and is a small quaint & tastefully decorated space. We loved it & will eat there again. Don’t eat here. I recently got a take-away fish and chips to enjoy over the loch. Well that was a mistake! Poor quality fish (frozen), skin and bones in the fillets for myself and my partner, soggy batter, poorly cooked and wedges, not chips. The best bit was the tartar sauce which was probably out of a jar. The worst fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. They need to go back to the drawing board as this is an actual affront to what fish and chips should be.

We visited Blas for a take away fish from supper having visited last week and enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately consistency is not their strong point. Last weeks fish supper was freshly cooked, well cooked and well presented. Nice and crisp. Unfortunately the same could not be said this week. The fish wasn’t quite cooked enough meaning the batter was soft and a little soggy in parts. I can only imagine they were hurrying and took the fish from the fryer too soon. We also had battered sausages which were quite disappointing. They looked as though they hadn’t been cooked at all before being battered meaning the resulting sausage was very pale with no colour, quite anemic looking. Very disappointing since last week was such was so nice.

Drove 30 mins to come and try this place out and saw that it advertises for eat in or takeaway so if it was full we were happily going to take away. When we walked in we could see the cafe was full.. the woman working there gave an incredibly fake smile and said 'we are full' whilst shoo'ing us away with her hand. My partner then said that's fine can we order to takeaway. She then sighed and said.. 'well I suppose so' as if it was a massive inconvenience to do something that you heavily advertise online and in your cafe that is available. I then said 'just leave it' and we walked out as I was no way spending a penny in there. I work in hospitality myself and cannot believe this woman didn't even offer us to wait for a table (there was no one queuing) terrible service and will definitely never be back nor recommend this place to anyone.if you're looking for something good we drove to portree and went to the red brick cafe which was a whole different experience, tasty food and amazing service.

We ate here yesterday, after eating fish and chips in two other local places within a couple of weeks. We cannot fault this place whatsoever. Seriously excellent fish and chips, the batter was perfect, light, crispy & tasty, the fish was wonderful and the rustic chips and garden peas were also hot tasty and served by happy, helpful, efficient, friendly staff. We were served by a younger waitress who was probably only 13 or so, she was super lovely and very professional, the older waitress was also very helpful, nothing was too much bother. Everything was clearly made from scratch, we even popped Our heads round the kitchen door to say thanks to the lovely lady who cooked our supper. There are some comments on here which we feel are way over the top, yes this is a small cafe and yes you have to wait, but being a smaller establishment can sometimes have as many drawbacks as a larger one. The kitchen is tiny, the girls are squeezed behind a cute but small serving area and the tables are close together. I don’t get the reason for complaints referring to this. We were very impressed, why do people often insist on placeing such poor reviews when there is very little wrong. Personally I’d give it another try to those who feel it necessary to berate a wee tea room in a wee village trying to do its best!

This place is awful. When we first went in we were told they weren’t serving food for 30 minutes as it has been so busy - there are 7 tables in total in the restaurant which were not all full and 4 members of staff on at this point. So we left and came back. I asked if they had a card machine before ordering, I was told yes no problem to pay by card. We both ordered the burger - when it arrived it was in an old most likely frozen morning roll, the burger was horrific and must’ve been frozen out a packet, half a spoonful of coleslaw on the side and a cheap cheese slice. The burgers were £11.50 each with cheese. Worth around £3 and they were burger van quality. I had to ask for my drink as they clearly forgot. No one came over to ask if food was ok I would definitely of said NO. My boyfriend was very reluctant to even pay for the meal as it was so bad. THEN we went to pay for the food and was told the card machine isn’t working and to go to the cash machine at the shop next door!!! The machine also charges to withdraw money. Of course we didn’t leave a tip. Oh and to make it even worse it is my boyfriends 21st today!! Worst birthday lunch EVER.

This is the type of place that gets Scottish tourism a bad name. Advertises itself as a Fish and Chips place - two fish items on menu - didn’t have one of them (fish cakes) and then ran out of chips! The tomato and basil soup was excellent. Great fresh taste. They were running a special with a toasted sandwiche of cranberry and brie, yum. Hospitality and greeting wonderful.

Stopped here for fish and chips at the end of the day and was treated to a delicious serving of Cod and chips, together with coffee. The young lad was apologetic and said we may have to wait a while, nevertheless it wasn't too long we had to wait. He was on his own and was worn out after a very busy day. It was a Bank Holiday and they could have done with more staff. They also do take-away. Good food, well recommended.

We came here after visiting Dunvegan castle and after moving on from a nearby excessively expensive establishment, to be greeted by an overloaded young man having to cope working with only one other staff member on a particularly busy afternoon . Despite many difficulties he did admirably well, serving us an excellent selection of snack foods with good nature- we sat in the rare Skye sunshine and had a wonderful afternoon

Very busy hot afternoon, fancy restaurant up the road empty, Blas totally full! Not enough staff to cope in Blas, only 2, but they tried valiantly and when our meal finally arrived it was great. Good effort under the circumstances..

Great little out-of-the-way place on Skye! There was a lovely girl waitressing who was very friendly and helpful, and the Cullen Skink in particular was delicious. Great family-run feel to it!

We did and we weren't disappointed. It was a very tasty, perhaps lighter version, of the Cullin Skink we had in Cullin, but we thought it was the best ever.Dropped in for a quick lunch while we were on a day tour on Skye. The service and the food could not be faulted. For a small establishment we were pleasantly surprised. And the tea was actually hot which was an added bonus.

We stopped here for a cup of tea and a scone. There were only another couple in, and they had the menu, it was then passed to us, and when another couple came in, they got it next!!Our scones were fine, however one small dish of jam for 2 scones, hardly gave them a covering.I thought it a bit overpriced at £8.40 for 2 teas and 2 scones.

We ate there last Monday around lunchtime , very small menu& everything we asked for from the menu was available . I got a toasted sandwich which consisted of just cheese& tomato tho I asked for ham in it. One bite &couldn't eat it , cheap cheese tasted horrible , also got chips that were raw . I think the sandwich was over 6pounds which was a joke for cheese& tomato& 2slices of bread , my wife got soup that wasn't much better no taste. Did not want to pay for this food but I'm not one to complain but his must of been an off day because it wasn't good at all

We were looking for somewhere for a light lunch in Dunvegan and we liked the quirky look of this cafe. The menu looked like just what we wanted, but as we walked towards one of the vacant tables a member of staff informed us that the kitchen was already too busy to take another order due to a large party - a party of 8 who were the only other people in the cafe. This was before we'd even said what we wanted, for all she knew we would have been happy with some drinks and cake, but she didn't even give us that option. Unfortunately this rather blunt and rude attitude left a bad taste in our mouths - we were given little choice but to go elsewhere. It seems like a crazy way to do business.

Recently on holiday on the west, visited Blas to be greeted by friendly local staff & goods made in Skye. Also at rear of shop/cafe a fine array of Tartan Company goods from bags to blankets & cushions to smaller items.. Had a cup of tea & blether with friendly staff, great selection of food - from sandwiches to hot food, all which looked very inviting; board on outside saying Takeaway Fish & Chips available; seating available on outside too should you be lucky enough to enjoy some Skye sunshine ☀️.Forgot to take pictures, till next time & then I'll update you more

Staying at the nearby Dornoch Caravan and Camping site we walked into Dornoch for a meal. We chose The Coach House because it is dog friendly. We received a warm welcome by staff and locals alike along with their dogs. Our haddock and chips arrived promptly and were delicious. However, our Westie started making a fuss. One of the locals and then a member of staff offered to “dog sit” so we could enjoy our meal. Exceptional! Thanks to all involved.

This Country Hotel lacks love and attention. Outside front and sides are very tall weeds, the flower boxes were full of wilted. Car park resembles a quary.. On entering the dining room was well presented albeit I felt it chilly . Only 3 diners and we had to wait to see if we would be accommodated. We were..we sat at our table and the really lovely young server took our order limited menu and 3 choices off that evening.. Food was just OK...not value for money @ £17.95 for haddock and chips. Overall not the greatest.. I'd love to see the outside tidied up and give the hotel some road side appeal

After arriving at skye and looking for places to eat this proved a little difficult as it was out of season and places had limited opening hours. We went for Gabbro bar after seeing it on google maps. The pictures of food looked passable. After getting there having to get our own wipes to clean the table after ordering things weren't looking good, then the toilets were very rundown and like a back street bar toilets. The food then came out in baskets, lined with greaseproof paper. (Something you would expect in a arcade) Fish and chips and the macaroni and chips. Even a plate would have been acceptable even though the fish was clearly out the freezer and very greasy. To top it off a random dog was wandering around trying to smell the food on the table and pushing its way under the table to check for any food.

The fab cinnamon buns elevated our coffee stop from great to awesome! Other really yummy cakes are available. Oh, and the vegan tomato pizza swirl looked great too if you fancy a savoury.

A total shambles. Sunday carvery .couldn't eat any of the meat as mostly fat.Plates so small you can't get much else on the plate.waitress saw me trying to catch her attention and hid .eventually came over sheepish with bill and at that point looked at all the fatty meat on plate and her response was sorry about that .we then never say any staff .They had vanished into kitchen .On our way out there was a lady who had mobility issues annoyed there was no disabled access just a set of very steep stairs .£24 each for 2 courses and only starter choice was soup.Dont waste your time .
