Really good coffee here - cakes seem good too. Can get busy at peak times.

First visit on Sunday and probably the most expensive americano I have had. 2 americanos and one bit shortbread came in at £9:80 and the shortbread was soft and not great. I do drink a lot of various coffees and try lots of coffee shops and this was super weak! I was in at around 12pm and it was quite full, staff were all nice. Previous reviews say auto tip at the till before you can pay so watch out for that one even though no table service to order it’s just brought out to you after you order at the till. For paying full price coffee and non comfy seats give it a go.

Great service. The most delicious soup I've tasted. Would have liked Cheese Scone warmed or toasted. I didn't enjoy it cold. Delicious coffee.

At £4.10 for a medium latte or cappuccino this cafe, along with its other chain of coffee shops like Press coffee etc, is the most expensive in Edinburgh. The scones are good, but I hate being ripped off on the coffee. And they have the cheek to ask for a tip on top.

Forcing someone in a wheelchair to goto the counter seemed a bit off. They could see the food board, so why not do table service?

Really boring environment with overpriced cakes long waits and unwelcoming staff. Been a few times and never been impressed but we today got a scone with ration book sized serving of cream and jam. Don’t know why I was given a napkin as my dry cream and jamless scone would leave nothing but distaste in my mouth to this overpriced coffeeshop. 4.20GBP for dry flour cake : not good enough

I was greeted pleasantly but had to wait for my coffee and scone while the barista had a chat with the previous customer. Will never add tip before being served again. Disappointing.

Dropped in to try the coffee here on a wander around Morningside and got a Mocha, Rarely do I notice the base taste of the coffee but this place has their own brand and it's amazing! They only had beans for sale but it's prompted me to go spend a fortune on coffee kit so I can pick up some of these beans! Nice surroundings, bright, welcoming and quiet. Staff were friendly on our brief encounter while ordering and paying. Dog friendly too, but not sure we would have taken our 4 collies in :D

Delicious sandwiches, although a little pricey.

I love to sit by the window and watch the world go by. The coffee is also a great one and try a cake or two

Lovely little cafe with friendly staff and absolutely gorgeous food!

What a rude lady serving me -Took my order and let me pay for it before realising they had no croissants left, then when I chose something cheaper she didn't even offer a refund !!! And - laughed at my not wanting a roll or scone instead of croissant. In case they care - I won't be back.

Went for a quick breakfast, excellent cappuccino prepared by expert barista. The pain au chocolate was a bit of a let down, the chocolate bars inside had not melted, so, it felt like chewing on a couple of Cadbury flakes.

Excellent coffee, good service. What more could you ask for from a coffee shop?

It's a good café with a nice selection of treats and breakfast. There are around 6 tables inside and the atmosphere is nice. We're giving 3 stars because the quality of the food for that price was okay. There isn't much to fault but not much to fall in love with either. Overall, a decent café with room for improvement and ambition.

It was fine. Good flat white and decent cheese scone but I don't like these card machines that ask how much tip you want to leave. I was at a counter, paying for my purchase, at which point no service had been given. Stop it.

The best coffee I think I've ever had. Easily beats all the independent places I go to in my home town. Also, bacon and egg roll - absolutely nailed it, genuinely brought a smile to my face, that's how nice it was 😂👍. Lovely people too.

This place hasn't a clue about quality coffee! Ask for a cappuccino, and you get a latte/flat white, complete with latte art (on a cappuccino?). I've asked for a Proper Cappuccino several times, but they arrogantly assume they are right, and you are wrong. If you ARE into real coffee, avoid this place and its sister place up the road, Project Coffee. The milk in their coffees soon looks curdled and greasy too. You have been warned.

Gorgeous hot chocolate, relaxed and friendly atmosphere and what looked like a lovely selection of cakes (I was behaving so I didn't try them but I was very tempted)

Unpleasant staff I visited this place several times, scones are decent , coffee tastes good but they charge too much given the size of their mugs are too small. One other thing escapes me it's the appalling attitude of the Servers . They rarely smile or interact with customers it's like they are doing you a favour by letting you using their café.

Sat outside with my brother after he just moved in to his new flat. Got an Americano which was a solid 7/10, but had the most amazing brownie. 10/10.

We love this cafe. It's our favourite coffee shop in Morning side. They serve very high-quality coffee. The flat white is just delicious. The decaf option is also a great one and as tasty. We went on Saturday for our first coffee to go since the all COVID situation. No table and seats inside obviously but well organised and helpful. We were delighted to taste some great coffee. Also ... the chocolate cake/brownie is to die for.

Found Blackwood Coffee by accident and was so glad I did. They offer a lovely selection of sweet and savoury snacks and drinks. I ordered a lemonade and a pastrami, cheese and pickle sandwich. It was delicious! The best thing though was the fact that it is dog friendly so I could sit inside with my dog. Would revisit.

El mejor bollo que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Es un lugar pequeño pero tiene muchos asientos. Otros pasteles y comida disponibles también. El personal era amable y la comida y las bebidas tienen un precio razonable para la zona.

Han pasado muchos años (más de 30) desde que vivimos en Morningside Edimburgo. Ojalá Blackwood hubiera estado abierto entonces. Amable cafetería local. Acogedor y cálido en días húmedos y frescos. El café es bueno Los productos horneados son sabrosos. El desayuno con huevos revueltos es una excelente opción para comenzar el día.Disfrutar

The coffee is really strong but I head here if I’m craving for a cheese scone because they make the best cheese scones that I’ve tasted on this side of Edinburgh.

At last, a coffee shop with a real touch of class. Beautiful, classic interior. Good selection of hot drinks, snacks, scones, cakes, meals etc. We had coffee and scones, all first class. Super clean establishment. Thoroughly recommend.

I love this place and come here often however recently the water giubg in to the tea isn't boiling hot and anyone who is a tea drinker will tell you the water needs to be boiling not just hot. So unfortunately it doesn't make for a pleasant cup of tea. Why don't they just get an urn and save a out of hassle and also get happy tea drinkers!

Apareció ayer mientras estaba en la zona y nos sorprendió gratamente el personal y la comida. Café delicioso, siempre algo grande para mí, una pequeña sopa de pollo muy sabrosa servida con un pan delicioso, mi esposo tenía un enorme sándwich de pastrami, emmental y pepinillo que dijo que estaba delicioso. Se llevó a casa el bizcocho de fruta que consumió mi esposo. Lo recomiendo totalmente.

Nice coffee and cake although struggled to hold the cup due to the tiny handles. Not a major problem just a little awkward. Staff seemed nice but hard to hear over the music but over all decent experience

What a glorified hovel. The foreign rude , socially inept grunt of a chap just barked that they were closed and it was almost five minutes before 6pm , with the door still open. Honestly if they cared so much about being closed before time they should have shut the door or maybe such people don't understand the full meaning of the word. I've been here before and the place is more or less like others have said up its own backside. But then it is located in the heart of morning side which is still as pretentious and snotty as ever but going to seed fast in terms of the quality and service ratio. Anyway I've been here before when its open and even on a good day the staff as miserable and snotty as sin , the food average and over priced and the coffee average.

Americano coffee is supposed to be a diluted espresso, not a cup of brown water with little taste. Very nice biscuit with what was sold as Americano but complete disinterest when I explained why I was returning half of the coffee.

Como otros punto de Aye, críticos, hay opciones muy limitadas menú para sándwiches y sopa, pero este es un cafe muy pequeñas y no se puede esperar mucho. También hace más fácil elegir. La comida es deliciosa, así como la elegante piezas/homebaking y el café que uso es suave y rico. Incluso hay un pequeño aseo exprimido.

Nice coffee and short bread biscuit

Met here with a friend as beautiful sunny day and they have a few tables and chairs to sit out on. In the past I would have raved about the cheese scones they make here, just about the best in Edinburgh but this is not what drives me to write this review. Ordered a regular Americans, black, as in the past have found the coffee here VERY strong and I like strong coffee but a large cup is too much. This coffee came and it wasn’t particularly hot and the cup was not very full. Now this may appear petty but I specifically ordered a black with no milk on the side for the price I paid it felt like a rip off ...wont be back in a hurry. Or maybe to carry out a cheese scone...

No doubting the quality of the coffee served - spot on. Welcome, atmosphere and serving a bit sullen. Could easily improve by attention to these latter aspects. Limited food options but it is accepted that this is primarily a coffee stop.
