Blackrod Chippy in Bolton

Tried this place for the first time yesterday, and will definitely be going back. The garlic bread was mouthwatering!

Soggy chips, old dried peas. Donna meat tasted days old. Pizzas are just as bad. Second we have been never again! Gone straight in the bin!

I called for a family ‘chippy tea’ as I happened to go through Blackrod on my way home. The new owners have made a great job & the food was very good. It’s worth travelling a few miles further for decent food

We have a takeaway pizza on a regular basis. Food is great and the staff are super friendly.We would highly recommend this place.

fish and chips for two was very good plenty of choice good sized portions and value for money friendly staff they also do pizza which I will try on next visit.

As part of a leaders group for a duke of Edinburgh expedition called here to pick up a meal for the leaders only! What a surprise lovely fish and chips not at all greasy and huge portions with really friendly staff. Will definitely return.

Good size potions, freshly made fish didn't try the pizza but looked nice and plenty of choice. Would recommend to others and will return to try out the pizza.

always friendly excellent quality food wont go anywhere else for pizza or fish. The owner is a very experienced chef in his own rights.

The food is always good. Fish is exceptionally good. Manager always seems tense though. And staff always look unhappy. It won't stop me going though my daughter loves the pizzas made fresh right there and then in front of you. Great food.

I have had pizzas from the chippy several times, it's not somewhere I would usually Pick to buy an authentic tasting thin based, great tasting pizza. But I'm really glad I found this place, freshly prepared as you wait or you can ring n order then collect. Delicious !!!

Visited several times now, tried pizza, sausage, chips and various sauces. The staff are very warm and welcoming, a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The food is lovely, I enjoyed watching my pizza being made from scratch and enjoyed eating it even more! The menu is very large. I may make it a mission to try everything!

Called over the Christmas period for fish and chips. Staff very friendly and provide a warm welcome. 4 portions of each all very well cooked and fresh. Taste was fabulous and we all enjoyed so much. Portions were large and cost very reasonable. Plan to visit again. Recommended

Visited a few times now, love my takeaway foods. Rhis place is good at all it does. Had a calzone pizza yum yum. Feiendly staff and wecomoning. Looks high standards with cleanliness. Will definently call again.

The chippy never lets us down with a new owner the menu has increased as has the quality of food. If your looking for a "chippy tea" I couldn't recommend the Blackrod Chippy enough.

Después de una mala experiencia en la alternativa "fish and chips" en el pueblo, me sorprendió gratamente con este lugar. Pescado fresco y delicioso y patatas fritas Golden mullidas y crujientes por fuera. No hemos probado las pizzas como todavía y no hay opción de kebabs pero será nuestra habitual.

Yo y mi 3 año simplemente me apetecía una pizza y no quería esperar 45 minutos por una pizza para llevar en Milanos. Así que pensé que me había llamado en probar la pizza de aquí. Se puede decir que era perfecto me encantó el pan de ajo me encantó el un montón de pizza Hawaiana de piña en demasiado, que es mi favorito. Sin duda una pizza de aquí de nuevo. Lo único que puedo decir es que si la pizza estaba en un poco más de tiempo. Como me gusta mi masa muy crujiente pero eso es cómo me gusta (no era poco hecha). Perfecto en la puerta.

I don't normally write reviews but, after a really bad meal from blackhorse st chippy. I had to, The chips were still white, not fried long enough, M partner had a pudding that was not cooked, the suet was only half cooked, I had the chicken curry, it was bad, only tasted of curry powder, no real flavour, and to top it off, the small amount ofchicken was dry and stringy.. it was packed in the bag badly, The curry was not put into a sealed container, so it leaked all over everything else in the bag. Would not recommend or visit again

I wanted to review this chippy as the bad reviews are extremely misleading - they're from before it was taken over! This is a great chippy. Everything we've tried as a family on the menu has been tasty and freshly cooked. This can mean a little wait at times, but you can phone your order through. I particularly enjoy the small fish and chips meal which is fantastic value and you get plenty. My little lad loves going here and choosing his own pizza and then watching it being prepared from scratch. They're very good quality and tasty. Haven't tried the pasta dishes but there's time yet!Don't pay attention to the older reviews and give this chippy a try!

Never had a problem here, kids love the pizzas, you don't wake up in middle of night wanting water, (not too much salt)Staff a bit miserable at times though.Fish cooked to order

I love good fish & Chips and “Black Rod Chippy” is certainly no exception. It offers great, fresh white fish, we had cod. Chips were cooked to perfection as was the batter all golden brown, crisp and thin. One of those real, melt in the mouth moments. Also Mushy peas that are divine :) Staff were very friendly and professional and a credit to the new owner.Definitely will be back!!!

Very bad service. Very rude staff. Food disgusting. I would advise anyone not to bother. Food was soggy and cold. Complained to staff and was told to stop moaning and go somewhere else.

Looks like the new owner knows how to cook the best fish and chips in the area and very reasonably priced, we will be back again.

This is one of the worst Chip shops I have been to!, not only does it shut very early!, I had to wait half an hour for a portion of chips which were then undercooked and cold!, the man behind the counter had a vey bizarre attitude towards his customers and the staff were miserable and did not have a clue what they were doing. I would never go to this Chippy again I had already heard negative comments but gave them the benefit of the doubt. I will now be going to the Chippy up the road (Flaunders) which has a very good reputation! - Blackrod Chippy's hygiene did not seem to highest standard either!

what can we say very very disappointing cold soggy fish no taste chips undercooked, not a friendly face in sight! all in all what a waste of money never again! if you enjoy fish and chips stay away!

Fish and Chips are always piping hot and go down a treat after a round of Golf, can't beat a chippy tea.
